Hey guys,
i have a question about why i cant install the cm10 rom on my phone.
i have the django version 1.2 King of birds rom with the new boot loader on my phone, and the recommended CWM.
I cant backup/restore my rom, it always ends up in "done freeing space." after 5 seconds of back upping.
Does anyone have the same problems ?
Cheers.
Shouldn't you post this in Q/A?

You have to use CM10 for the new bootlaoder. Stock CM10 of RC is for the old bootloader. Look in the dev section. There you will find a CM10 for the new bootloader.

I wanted to use the CM 10 for the NEW ICS bootloader.
I red the instructions carefully
: ""If you come from any ICS with unlocked bootloader (Topogigi, Carburano, etc...):
1) grab the recovery zip and the cm10 or the cm10.1 zip attached to this post
2) enable debug in developer options (if you haven't already of course)
3) connect the usb cable to your box
4) copy the two zips in your external sd card done easily
5) reboot to recovery by holding power and volume down
5) wipe data/cache, then go to mounts and format system (just to be safe) okay , just like every rom flash
6) flash the recovery zip file you previously slapped in the external sd card DOES NOT WORK
7) reboot recovery from the advanced menu
8) flash the cm10 zip as usual""#
Do u understand my problem now ?

Sorry but in your first post you didn't specify which CM10 ROM you use. Now I understand that it doesn't work with CM10 for the new bootloader. You write also in the first post what is the error of backing up and restoring. But what is actually the error when you try to flash the recovery zip? If you ask for help you should be so kind and submit as much information as possible! Do you have problems with flashing CM10 or are you having problems with backup/restore? Or are you having issues with both tasks
As the rest said, you should install the recovery ZIP from SDcard, if this doesn't work I'm assuming you're not on the new ICS bootloader? Did you NVFlash a new ICS rom or manually get to the new partition layout?
Also, try not to sound offensive and there's no need for caps We fully understand you
Op, have you flash pengus's recovery version. Just go with the latest (20121230) one. Then reboot to recovery from advance menu. Lastly, flash pengus cm10 ROM.
Hey,
i re-flashed the Django Rom 1.2 , and now back-upping works, bot needs a looot loot of time !
The Error which occurs is : E: Can´t open /sdcard/recovery-20121233.zip (bad) Installation aborted.
But the Django Rom is with the NEW ICS Bootloader, isnt it ? The first time i installed the 1.0 Rom it was a .Kdz .
sry for miss understandings, my English is too bad.
Grüße
Use aio tools, then reformat your phone to ext4 system to repair the can't mount problem, that works for me.

Kernel: ruggles powersaver hp kernel 32mb RH
BB: v30b bb

Thanks, but i cant restore my rom now, MD5 missmatch - can i restore it otherwise ?
I ended up with the same problem a week ago...got Status 0 cwm error when trying flashing the CM10 pengus ROM even if I had done everything properly. Then I tried to restore and got the same MD5 mismatch.
The only solution I've found was re-flashing the stock rom and re-doing the process. And then I was able to flash it properly :good:
I also having an error in CWM when i'm trying to flash pengus rom, and i decided to flash the ext4 to format my system to ext4 (it included on aio tool folder) then flash the rom and it works

I'm new here and the first ROM I've tried installing was RC1 91 but after I finished the procedure, my phone doesn´t leave LG home screen and rebooting after 5 sec. What did I do wrong?
Steps:
- Root;
- Download the ROM;
- Copy in external memory;
- Power off the phone;
- Boot in recovery;
- Backup current ROM;
- Wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset;
- Wipe dalvik cache
- Finally, flash ROM and reboot.
And the restore isn´t work too.
Do you have p990 or p999?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA
P990 and i was running 2.3.4 V20l Euro Open
What recovery version do you have?, the CWM "touch" version HAS issues with flashing, try an older version , non touch, also its a lot better flashing from the external SD card than the internal memory (a.k.a. internal SD). (I use 5.0.2.7, you can grab it at Temasek thread, second post)
I had flashing issues and here is how they are throubleshoted:
1: Reflash, sometimes CWM (recovery) make bad flashes, reflash, sometimes it work.
2: Format everything, choose factory reset, then flash again, no need to wipe cache or dalvik because everything is wiped except recovery.
3: Use a script to get partition back to ext3, when a rom uses ext4 it automatically changes it BUT when you install a ext3 rom it does NOT reformat back to ext3, it leaves it in ext4 and thus doesnt work.
4: Try another rom, an older or a different rom, I had this issue with topogigi rom once and the modaco rom its 100% incompatible with my phone... dont ask why no one knows.
5: Use a different CMW version, this is no. 5 if you have a non touch version (mine for ej. has modded menus) but if you have the touch version it has issues with flashing, temasek had problems with his own roms...

you're missing one thing you should format/data factory reset first. of course the restore doesn't work because CM7 converts yours system to ext4. while stock rom the system is ext3.
you should try this script
Code:
http://etana.donka.hu/?dir=scripts
if you like you should full wipe or use nvflash recovery there is a thread there in development thread or from this one
Code:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
.
the difference between that script and nvflash is the method. vadonka scripts use CWM. and nvflash use the driver for your computer, if you use method nvflash you have already rom v10b.
after you already use nvflash / full wipe in vadonka script, you can flash cm7 again.
or if you like you can search in development section there is convert to ext3 back of course this method is delete your whole partition
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021549
did you backup your apps first like using titanium backup??
or maybe this method you can use recovery with nvflash but i think with this method you should have your boot.img backup first i haven't tried this method
Code:

Hello. I'm going to install the new android into I9000. In the previous thread you recommend me the Semaphore kernel and Jelly Bean ROMs.
I installed the Semaphore from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786220 by odin and I need to install zip file with my new ROM by clockworkmod recovery. I tried to install three types of ROMs: cyanogenmod10, c-rom, tsunami, however everyone shows 'error [path to file] (status 0) - installation aborted' when the installation starts.
What am I doing wrong?

Status 0 is due to having wrong CWM on you phone, likely you are on ICS ROM and using JB kernel and trying to Flash JB ROM
thanks for your answer,
i'm using semaphore JB 2.3.0 Kernel (URL in first post) - the author writes:

yes kernel will work but CWM does not, so flash the ICS kernel to solve your problem , you are currently on ICS, so use ICS kernel and upgrade to JB, once in JB , use JB kernel
sorry, but i don't understand. i should install the ics kernel, e.g. from here: http://www.semaphore.gr/downloads/gt-i9000-ics and next i need to install JB kernel from sdcard in cwm of ics?

One you have an ICS kernel, your CWM will be able to Flash a JB ROM in recovery, once you have a working JB ROM, its up to you , IF you would like to have JB Kernel , just Flash that

just check if you still have your IMEI, if not use a solution from My Android Solutions to fix it
BUT make sure you inserted your sim card in the correct direction
No i don't have an IMEI (checked by *#06# code, shows only "IMEI" without the number). So, if i didn't make a backup i need to flash an old ROM, go to CWM and make a wipe, delete EFS folder with root explorer and install the ICS kernel with Phone EFS Clear ticked?
I have next problem. My i9000 resets byself and goes to CWM. He made it for three times when i didn't use him.

NO, all you need to do is , was written in above link
1) Download Root Explorer from Play Store and use it to
2) Search you internal SD card for sdcard/backup/efs
3) Copy nv_data.bin, nv_data.bin.md5 and nv.log paste them into /efs in your Phone memory
4) Reboot to get back your original IMEI
or
you can start from the beginning.. go back to GB 2.36 (use a JVU ROM + Root, upgrade to ICS CM 9 and than to CM10

if you have cwm(any version)
you can install whatever rom you have
if you are on other bases like GB or ICS and trying to install JB or new versions of cm10
you should do the installing process three times
there will be an error after first try and on the second it will install but you will get bootloop and you have to take out battery put it back and boot to recovery with three button combo and start the third time of install process after that do a restart and you are done
good luck :good:

Hi all,
I know similar questions have been asked literally hundred times, but as a complete noob to roms, I want to make sure that I get a full set of instructions and then I won't brick my phone. I want to upgrade my note to this JB Rom by cronosmachine. I'm on stock ICS 4.0.4. Never rooted or did modding to the phone. No kernel change (which I know nothing about), nothing.
I'm not sure how much info you guys will need but here are the basics:
Baseband version: N7000XXLRB
Kernel version: 3.0. 15-1115729
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT Thu Sep 20 00:40:29 KST 2012
Build number: IMM76D.ZSLPN
I know that I have to first root my phone to get CWM? My guess is to follow method 1 on [24sept12]How to Root/Unroot Samsung Galaxy Note + CWM?
And then from there I don't know what to do in order to get the ROM onto my phone.
And is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Appreciate any kind of help.
yes first root usin 1a method using philz kernel.
Once done, you will have root and cwm and is a safe kernel.
Download the zip file of the rom you want to flash and place it on internal or external sd card.
boot into recovery now (vol up +power+home)
go to mounts and storage
format/system
format/data
format/cache
go to advanced
wipe dalvik cache
go back
install zip.
point to the rom you downloaded.. and wait for it to install. that's all. see your phone booting into jb.
hope that was clear enough

Thanks SpyderTracks.
One more question before I pull the trigger, can all this be done with the "internal" SD card? Or does it have to be an external SD?
stock recovery doesnot allow installation from internal SD. so external is required. but you can use PC odin to install it, but it will leave a yellow triangle and increase the counter. later you can use triangle away app to reset it, Final call is yours.,
So after I installed philz's root and safe kernel, I went into recovery to wipe data cache system, went also wiped dalvik. Then I went to the main menu, chose install zip, tried to select choose zip from sdcard, but it keeps giving me this error: E:Can't mount /sdcard/
Nevermind, I managed to install from internal SD. But I'm not liking the ROM that much, so I plan on flashing CM10 Nightly to try it out.
On the CM10 thread, it says that I shouldn't be on a ROM based on stock. What I want to do is to flash CM9. But in order to do that, I'm not sure if I'm already on a safe kernel (after rooting using dr.ketan's 1a method (Phil's)).

I'm not sure either, I booted into recovery, went into Philz Settings > about, and got CWM base 6.0.1.5, and PhilZ Touch 3.00 (n7000).

Did you format system ?
Or maybe try reflahing CWM (don't remember which version is for New ICS unlocked bootloader)

Yes haven't tried but for sure you can flash cwm from AIO toolkit and also go back to GB layout too
I think you should try to NVflash a rom (ICS or GB bootloader) then root (AIO) flash a cwm recovery (Still from the perfect AOI toolkit) and reflash the rom you want from cwm, that's the cleanest way

Sometimes the problem lies with your downloaded rom. Maybe its corrupted and not downloaded properly. Try redownloading it or download a new compatible ROM. DjangoManouche X 1.2.1 by carburano works for me.You can give that a try. Or ParanoidAndroid v2.5 by tonyp.

Hi all,
Can someone guide me (step by step) how to install jellybean on my device.
Device details:
Model: Spice Mi410
ROM: MacLite-FB0 v1.3 (GB 2.3.4)
Kernel: Apps_2.6.32.9-perf
CWM: Recovery v5.0.2.3
Baseband: PR232
I want to install "cm-10-Ideos-X6-v0.2".
So, I got the ROM and also got the kernel "35.7-oct.4-cmx" & recovery menuu "Recovery Menu 2.0.0.1 for 4XXX baseband (kernel 2.6.35.7)".
Now, can someone guide me the sequence of operations to install JB?
I tried different combination of sequences CWM, Kernel & ROM but couldn't do it
(If I flash CWM first then I don't get recovery menu again so can't flash the ROM.
If I flash ROM first then it doesn't boot. I can go to the recovery menu and flash the CWM but it didn't help.
Also flashing kernel at all different point, didn't help me.)
1. Put the downloaded new rom. (.zip) to your SD card

Hi all,
Can someone guide me (step by step) how to install jellybean on my device.
