Unfortunately, there is still no news regarding what kind of hardware to expect, other than the fact we are looking at a 2014 release

my infromation source tell's that first beta ''rom'' will be launched after few weeks (galaxy nexus)
p.s CyanogenMod team trying copy ui from ubuntu rumors...
Here is a benchmark 1GHz Cortex A8 vs A9 vs Atom:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=gentoo_arm_x32&num=1
Cortex A9 is...better of course, but I think our Black will be "just" capable to run Ubuntu Phone OS.
well Canonical said that if our device run Android , it will run Ubuntu without a problem :good:

Come on... How anyone could possible know that? And then, it will be the same with CM. It is needed to make a ROM compatible with our P970.
I just came here to post a thread about Ubuntu Phone in our OB and there's one already :silly:
Crazy to see that in my phone :victory:
edit
btw, do we have any badass developers from OB family interested on porting Ubuntu Phone for us? Cuz I'm pretty sure won't be any official release of it
the image for Nexus Phones will be avaible here tomorrow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch?action=show&redirect=UbuntuPhone
edit 2
it's already avaible here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install?action=show&redirect=TouchInstallProcess

It's not fully finished os. We cannot port it or build from source unless its finished. They have test builds for galaxy nexus and they say it lags a little but on ace it will lag as hell so wait until its finished.

In ubuntu website, they emphasize on dual core phones. It would be one heck of a task. I think they will release sources soon enough. A stable android rom themed and modded like ubuntu would be nice though.
I'd say it will be similar as CM10.1
Bugs and not very good performance.

It will probably be like ICS it will be a pain to port. And I don't think that our system storage will fot all those amazing features.

Hey!
We're preparing an image for Ubuntu for Phones and it should be available towards the end of February. You can keep up to date by joining our irc channel #ubuntu-phone on Freenode IRC or by madly pressing F5 on the Ubuntu Wiki page (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPhone) which is called UbuntuPhone over the next two months
Thanks for the interest!
Edit: Image will be for the Galaxy Nexus, but no doubt you guys will be able to fettle it to work on some other device I'd imagine
Thank you for posting! I'm looking forward to it. I would like to feature this on XDATV ASAP!
Thanks for the encouraging words about the petition! And thanks for keeping us informed!

Nexus and HTC aren't mutually exclusive brands, but yes Canonical said the initial images will be for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I'm sure there will be unofficial ports as well.

Looks like my purchase of the Galaxy Nexus last Fall was prophetic to say the least. I'm pretty excited to get the image.
[Q] Can we expect an image for Galaxy SII (GT-I9100) too?
I think the HW spec is not very different
I wish you good luck with your project :good:

Officialy we can expect Galaxy Nexus image next month.

Oh, man. Can't wait for the port to my Desire HD/Inspire. Dual-booting with that would be simply AMAZING!

An unlockable bootloader Intel Atom based phone (Motorola RAZR i) would also be a great project. I noticed in the information it says that Intel Atoms can run the higher-end Ubuntu Phone OS. I am imagining the possibilities here of x86 Ubuntu Phone

IFK if the idea of an x86 phone would be good. It is just an inefficient design compared to Arm IMO.

Dude (or girl, whatever), this phone has a 400 MHz processor. It barely runs Gingerbread. Its just something not possible. If you really want, I can build Android 4.0 from cyanogen mod source (if we have a recent kernel which im not sure if we have) but there will be tons of problems...

well thanks for the offer but nah, it wasnt really a serious post.
i just look in here from time to time for a bit of nostalgia
i still smile when i see the "kaiser 3d drivers at last post"
i just reloaded Gingerbread and its running fine.
on the other hand, it does have a dedicated camera button, what about windows phone 7?

ICS should be possible though. It ran on the blueangel, and the kaiser is slightly faster.
Then again, android runs like **** on kaiser. Probably not a good idea to try anything newer than gingerbread....

Depends on which phone you have.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Quit asking!
1) Look up the hardware requirements. If you meet or exceed minimum specs,
2) Post the question in a thread dedicated to YOUR device. Most likely there will be a dev or a team interested in porting from the gnex ubuntu image to your device.
The availability of a ported image to any device usually depends on the willingness and skill of a dev using your same device.

Will Ubuntu Touch run on Asus EeePad Transformer TF201 Prime? (NVidia Tegra 3 (ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore CPU, overclocked to 1.8Ghz, NVidia ULP GeForce ), 32GB ROM (more then 22GB available with Android OS installed), 1GB RAM)
I've seen ports even for Asus EeePad Transformer TF101, which is less powerful.
will be on pantech burst?
There is a port available for Xperia u. So it will be possible to port Ubuntu on sola as well, and also it will not be off track as both devices are likely to be same in specs, hoping for a YES!

That's upsetting, are there ANY devs left on this device?
To be fair, the device is over two years old, which is a lifetime in mobile devices. Personally, I've found Surdu's 4.0.25 overclock build to be the fastest and most stable. Unless there's some killer feature that you need in 4.3, I'd suggest giving that one a try.

Do you mean clean slim & fast? And yeah I was kinda hoping for opengl 3.0 as this is a gaming tablet for me
4.0.25/26 have some kernel bugs and thus so do any ROM based on them. The controls in Max Payne don't show up for example. The release notes for 4.0.28 mention the fix for what caused that.

OpenGL3.0 available only for new devices (like SGSIV, HTC One, Sony Tablet Z, Nexus 4 etc).
