I noticed my Incredible S's back/battery cover isn't firmly attached even after reattaching it to the phone a few times. I can press down a little bit of the left back cover but the right side is okay. Anyone else experiencing this?
I also tried pressing down that side first to secure it when reattaching but it's still the same.
The side I'm talking about is the opposite side of the volume rocker.
Mine fits perfectly, take it back for a replacement
My first IS had this problem
I returned it to have another one, nothing to complaine now with this one
but before making the exchange, check the new one if there is a problem with the battery cover
Well, it's a minor annoyance but I can live with it. It's probably not worth the expense of exchanging it since I bought it internationally online. I just had to make sure I'm not just placing it the wrong way.

Hi,
I THINK I have had a similar issue when trying the first times..
One side, I think the one with the +/- loudness button didn't close perfectly..
I found that it only works when I start fitting the cover at the top first and start pressing on both sides (left and right), slowly moving my fingers downwards and pressing.
I had the same problem next to the SDCard slot, but I swapped it for a new one and its fine

Any DIY fix for this? It's just that my thumb is always on that spot. :l
I've had this as well, it just takes some magic and trickery to get it to fit perfectly. Dont really know how I managed it to fit perfectly again, but I removed it several times and pressed the area I was having trouble with first.
I had this yesterday on the right side. Pushed hard from top/bottom and it wouldn't go in.
I then tried from the side and this worked. Hope this makes sense as its hard to explain.

What do you mean from the side?
There was a slight gap a couple of mm. Looked like the inside teeth type parts weren't quite lining up to allow pressing together. I pushed it side on (the right side edge) and it clicked in.

Hmmm, my problem is on the left side though (when battery cover is facing you), only the middle part of the edge of the battery cover wouldn't close properly. I think this is the part between the two teeth.
Any guide to properly close it back?
Either i am going mad since ICS leak has come out or the s-pen can highlight things on the sceen with out touching it?
I tried it out on this forum and if you hover over a thread with the tip of the s-pen about 1-2mm off it will highlight the thread.
i am 99% sure it isnt makeing conact, is there a function or purpose for this?
No idea but i noticed that also on the ics rom.

I am on the same boat. Hope the final ICS releases soon.
I dont know if this affects all phones/pens/firmwares but if I use diceplayer and hover the pen tip at 2-3mm away from the screen it repeatedly registers a screen tap.
same here mine is running 2.3.6
I've tried this before (on gingerbread) and it keeps the device awake in S-memo (maybe outside of it as well, haven't tried it.). But the reason is because the pen is by Wacom and if you've used a wacom digitizer before on a pc you would notice that you can move the pointer around the screen without touching the screen.
The pen is powered wirelessly by a substrate (I believe above the screen), and transmits its location. Now obviously they didn't enable the pointer to show on Android, but it seems like it is being registered as coming into the screen's activation range.
I had same problem before.i change the new from samsung till now no problem.
all the wacom pens actually work like this, the only difference there is that you can't only "move the mouse" so any input registers as a click.
it's probably not fixable outside of a driver update from samsung :x
This is a very useful feature: it's a visual display of what you're pointing at while hovering over the screen, no actual input is given...
If you hold the pen over a link in a browser, you can see the link getting highlighted before you select it...

No, it won't work on La6 - I've only seen it using icecream sandwich

curios, alls ICS leaks dont support S-Pen yet.
And that issue doing inputs without touching the screen is due to a faulty S-Pen.
Replace it, its a warranty issue.
The pen have to be, not only touch sensitive, but pressure sensitive too.
If you press more down, the line you draw got thicker.
im on ics chinese leak but no problem with s pen

My s-pen seems to work fine i have done some drawing and the pressure sensitive feature works?
How would i go about claiming for the s-pen on warrenty if im running ics, would the want the phone back?
Hey everyone.
A few months ago I dropped my phone for the first time. It turned out that the screen had gotten a large crack down through the middle, running all the way from the top to the bottom. I tried using it, and the touch capabilities didn't seem to be affected, so basically it was just cosmetic at first.
But this afternoon, after having used it lightly since morning without issues, the phone suddenly started responding weird to touch. Whenever I touch the screen, it registers touches all over the screen, and I'm not even able to dial in my pin code after rebooting.
Does anyone have an idea what might have happened, what is broken, and how much it will set me back to fix it?
BTW, the phone arrived with a red pixel, I noticed it once when booting up, but thought it was just a bug or something. Later I found out that is actually a fault with the phone, and most companies have dead pixel policies, I'm wondering, is it possible to return the phone for a new because of the red pixel?
Thank you for your time.
I think it will be a little hard to prove that dead pixel after being cracked. If you have some skills, you can change it yourself, its not very hard and you can find the screen on the internet.

That does sound good, but aren't the glass (The outermost layer) and the touchscreen two different things entirely?
Thank you.
Well what do you know, it started working again! Well, atleast for now.
Thanks for the advice

...I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's the huge crack down the middle of the screen? :good:
Seriously, though.. capacitive touch-screens measure changes in the resistance across a thin layer on top of the glass. So if you bend it somehow, or damage it (say, stretch it because the glass underneath cracks), then the resistance won't be picked up, or it will be registered inaccurately. So it might work for a while, or work reasonably well. Know a guy who smashed his iPhone.. sat on it, actually.. and it worked with "cracked" glass (that was held together by the layer on top of the glass, right) until he bought another iPhone. *shrug* He talked about it a lot, but it didn't seem to really make a difference on the actual phone.
A month ago I broke the outer and inner screen I ordered on eBay
I installed it and since I have a line on a screen in the upper part of the touch screen that it does not work
There is a picture but the touch is not working
I installed a few times then the problem is not with the installation
There is a possibility that I need to install the Rom again or that can not be it software problem?

in my opinion thereĀ“s something wrong with the conector besides the lcd screen.
Never ever had a problem with a rom that involving the touch function
So according to you the problem is in the internal screen in the LCD?

well bud I'm no mechanic but i think so. it's because no Rom changes the touch driver. and when it's completely not working not partial. besides i read about this problem after changing the screen often in eBay

You think it's the LCD or external screen?
I can say that it's the sealing rubber's fault out of bad experience, because I replaced my screen myself recently.
After first ordering a replacement screen and installing it properly my whole upper half of the touch did not work. A second time a smaller fragment did not work.
After googling it, I found out that the sealing rubber around is very important, however even though getting a rep. screen is no problem at all, getting the rubber was impossible on ebay or on any local shop. (Why is no one offering these?)
So I ended up buying the thinnest double sided tape I could get and everything works fine now. It's extremely fumbly though and takes some steady hands Use a knife and not scissors to cut the tape.

Wow thank you very much
My screen really dont stuck so well I did not think that's the problem
You talk about the external screen right? Not about the LCD?
I've noticed lastely that my pen sensitivity is different in the middle of the screen compared to the corners. I have to press down the pen harder to actually write something, while on the corners I can write normally.,
This was not always the case, the problem appeared just recently. The pen has bad sensitivity in the middle regardless if I try to write or just scroll on a webpage with it.
Restarting the phone didn't help.
I have a custom rom which I have not upgraded for months now (I'm waiting on Oreo roms).
The digitizer seems to work fine when I use my fingers.
I have uploaded a screenshot testing the pen. The corners are where I gently just swiped with the pen. As you can see there's nothing in the middle.
Could this be software (rom) issue, digitizer losing response or the pen itself? Any ideas?

None of the above. The pen has its own sensor behind the screen. It got damaged somehow. Time for a warranty replacement.
do you have a case on the phone? any magnetic closure will cause exactly this

Correct, I suspected it and removed the case and it solved the problem.
I recently bought https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Zim...lloy-Metal-Cover-for-Samsung/32828780058.html
It's a fantastic case in every way, except that it makes Spen go crazy.
Will it cause any permanent damage or am I safe to continue using it?

It was the magnet messing around, the problem disappeared when I removed the case. Good thing I don't need to RMA this, I have 2-step verification for everything haha.

Glad it was easy!:good: I'm surprised a case would be made that interferes with the pen coils. That's annoying. Good thing it didn't permanently damage it. Having to RMA would have been lame. What case did you buy, I'm just curious.

I think it can damage over time. I remember similar reports on the Note 4 forum, but maybe something changed since then too.
It's a mystery to me, how some people still don't know that magnets and phones don't go along ?

The phone works fine, it's only the Spen which is not working well.
Besides, there are already magnets in phone speakers.

I've read that magnets won't damage the phone, unless it's a really strong magnet like a MRI scanner. I won't be coming near any of those anytime soon.
The only thing that would be temporarily affected is the compass, which I don't use, and Spen in this case, which I use rarely.

Doh! Just breezed right over that. That's a pretty crazy case.
just about every folding case on amazon has a magnet in it that will affect the spen usage.
just a warning to everyone.
Yep even a small magnet for the latch causes mine to curve away.
