I posted in the Bionic on T-Mobil thread but I thought it would be more appropriate to post here since I am trying to connect to Globe Telecom.
I finally was able to unlock the GSM signal on my Droid Bionic.
Currently I am in the Philippines but my Bionic doesn't seem to get a strong signal over 1x through Globe Telecom (Pre-paid).
I tried adding the APN for GPRS and MMS but still no luck. I am not even sure if the APN settings I am using are correct because I've tried many different ones. Can someone give me the correct APN I need for GPRS and MMS?
I cannot receive or send text messages or connect to 3G network
How can I get my Bionic to work completely? I am sick of using my aunts Nokia from the 90s. haha.
When I go into *#*#4636#*#* and look at Phone info it states the following:

Hello everyone
I got an HTC G1 which was a UK T-mobile one and that is now on a French network called virgin mobile.
I got all the correct APN entered
But I have no icon of a 3G network and trying to use web give me such messages as « a network error has occured » or « data connectivity problem ».
Use only 2G network is unchecked
In status I have:
Network: Orange F
Signal 63db
Mobile network type : UMTS
Service state: In service
Roaming: not roaming
Mobile network state: Disconnected
I think the problem comes from here I got the 1.6 firmware shall I put a French firmware?
It seems that some other people has such problems but I found no answers….
Any ideas?
Good Day,
I purchased a network locked I9000 then used the SGS Unlock App in the Market to open my phone to any network provider.
The thing is, I cannot get 3G or HSDPA to work in my preferred network. I placed a prepaid sim from the Network I bought it from and 3G and HSDPA are working as designed.
Is there a possibility that the firmware I am using is still "locked" to some extent in terms of the frequency?
I have the correct APNs for both Network and I tried both sims to my old N97 and they both worked in terms of 3G signal.
BTW, I'm from the Philippines and I bought the phone from Globe Telecoms and my preferred network is Sun Cellular.
Here are the details of my SGS phone:
Model Number: GT-I9000
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1 (already updated it from KIES)
Baseband version: I9000DXJG4
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
[email protected] # 2
Build Number: ECLAIR.DXJG4
Other facts I can see in the settings (might be useful):
Signal Strength: -81 dBm 16 asu
Mobile network type: HSDPA
Service State: In Service
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
I'm thinking of re-flashing my phone to a different firmware but needed your inputs first. What firmware would work for me? Plus: would my phone get locked again to the original network if I re-flash it? Would the lock code change?
Note: here's some basic info about the two networks
Globe Telecoms
GSM 900MHz/1800 MHz
3G W-CDMS (UMTS)
3G Frequency 2100 MHz
Sun Cellular
GSM 1800 MHz
3.5G (HSDPA) 2100 MHz
Hoping someone can really help my dillema. I've been using Sun Cellular for 4 years now and I have no plans of changing networks even though their Customer Service stinks (no one can help me with this!)
Francis
P.S. I tried all the troubleshooting short of re-flashing. Multiple reboots, played around with the APNs, etc etc.
Also, my phone is rooted. Not sure you need that info but just in case
I forgot to add one last thing..
Yeah, I almost forgot. I can use my phone with my preferred network (Sun Cellular), to make & receive call and also SMS. It's the Internet Access that is giving me sleepless nights. I also called my network provider and I do have all the proper access in fact, I was able to surf using the same sim in my N97.

Hello, I recently brought a branded three Samsung Galaxy S gt-i9000 from ebay and when I received it I unlocked the mobile getting codes to unlock and use my O2 sim. There was no problems unlocking it and the 02 Sim is the simplicity Sim with web, text and 100mins per month (pay as u go) and it worked and sent texts, received calls etc
It's when I tried to start the browser I noticed it said no connection, page cannot be displayed etc and it would work on wi-fi but not wap/3G, also i have no 3G/H icon at the top of the phone sinse it started. I went to mobile options > access point names etc and saw the 2 default settings 02 gave me and it is selected and seemed ok but where it says about phone > status it says "mobile network state: disconnected" so I realise I have no wap and I have tried texting ACTIVE or SETTINGS to o2 numerous times with no reply so I went online and tried to add and try LOADS of different settings/access point names to see if they would get me online but no luck so I have factory ressetted by phone back to default to try again so does anyone know where I am going wrong or knows the proper settings and method to get me back on the 3G web, thanks

Thanks for your reply, unfortunatly i dont have a three sim and it errors (believe it or not) when i try to order some online, so i may not be able to test that and youve lost me on the second part (n00b here) lol if you could explain in more detail i might try that but i really didnt want to get into all that for the chance of bricking my phone, i really really cant afford to do that so are u sure there are no settings or tweaks im missing, will it be worth phoning O2? thanks dude
My original O2 phone just put the sim in and data on .Current rebuild has just done exactly the same sim set it all up correct .
Sorry i dont have any O2 settings as i do not have current O2 .
Wifi and networking
Mobile networks use packet data = yes
Data roaming i have off
Access Point names
authentication type: none i have PAP
Otherwise much the same as yours .
I would be tempted to say its the sim at fault .

I have a similar issue. I've unlocked my SGS and with a sim from a different operator I don't get mobile data.
The difference is that I'm on Darky's latest ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The difference is that I'm on Darky's latest ROM.
That could be your problem non stock rom may not have settings for your network .Try manual settings .

Those are the Pay Monthly APN settings you are using, the PAYG settings will be different....you'll have to google for the right ones and pump them in manually, for whatever reason the automated O2 thing won't send them to you.
Edit: For comparison the Pay Monthly settings for O2 are here h**p://mobilereviews*o2*co*uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=667&tab=8, the GPRS and MMS ones may be OK for you the Mobile Web setting won't.

Hey guys thanks a lot for your replies and just to let you know I went to the O2 shop yesterday and the girl sat down at a laptop there with my phone for a good 10 minutes and came back saying she has got the H/3G icons to appear at the top but still no mobile web, then she said let me reset it quickly and.... it worked
I now have mobile web, i have also checked the settings she put and they dont seem any different, im pretty sure ive tried them before but she said she mucked about with loads of things and I wouldnt understand.. shes right lol
Thanks anyway fellas and whoever has the same problem I will say, definatly go to a shop or phone customer services.
I bought a Bell HTC incredible S.
I first hacked it to get S-off than installed HD 1.1.7 rom. After flashing it I had "error while searching for networks" in network operators when booting up the new rom. So during that time I flash radio to the new one (as the guide recommended).
After flashing, still got the same error. I can't connect to my bell network. I took my backup nano on my 4GB and restored.
The phone connected back to the bell network but when I plugged in my USB to it. Network disconnected and now I can't connect back. i've tried restoring the phone again with the same backup and this time it doesn't even connect.
Please help me, i followed this post .
Which says to type in bunch of characters in the number screen. I did what that user said to do and when I do "Run ping test" it says this:

It wouldn't matter if the radio was for bell.. You can flash any of the radios.

good call never thought of that hopefully thats his problem
now that's hard, because I remember putting the case back on and I do remember it working. However I was also leaving my place with it and it randomly disconnected. I went back home and restored it again and still had issues.
I ended up getting a replacement. not sure if I should flash, kinda scared to find out if I can't connect to my call/text/3g connections
"stupid question, but did you put back cover on? (antenna is there)"
+++1 to that one. Been there and did that last week.
So I have an AT&T branded, carrier unlocked, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 model number SM-N960U and I'm currently using Straight Talk as my carrier with a SIM card that uses AT&T towers. Voice Over LTE is disabled on it for AT&T towers and I've been trying off and on every time I get frustrated with my backup phone's cracked screen to find some way to make it function again but to no avail.
Anyone know of any magical fixes for this? I've done quite a bit of searching for answers and I've tried a bunch of things but not come up with any real fix for the problem...
Things I've tried include multiple different APN settings, turning on VoLTE Provisioning manually by dialing ##4636## (VoLTE Provisioned is grayed out with AT&T sim card but not other carriers cause of course it is), I've called Straight Talk and had them do whatever it is they do on their end multiple times with no success and unfortunately the only carrier we get signal with in my area is AT&T or I would be happy to just switch to a Verizon SIM. I also tried looking for a way to root the darn thing (and tried using the rom I found in another thread here to change it from N960U to N960U1 but mine must be on a different update than that rom) cause I'm sure with access I could bypass all AT&T's crap but my security update is too recent to allow for root access so I'm worried it may just be stuck...
Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm so frustrated with this phone I'm half tempted to chuck it out my window lol.
Hi, @cloudyrei
I am currently on Old Folks Cellular/Consumer Cellular with an AT&T sim.
Had to change sim cards after the recent 3G shutdown because IMS no longer registered.
Are you using a launcher that can access activities on your N9?
If not, please download Activity Launcher from the F-droid store. I use it on N9 and N20U.
In the Activities menu, please search for: "Call Settings" - this will be found under Call Settings (com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity) and create a shortcut
"Mobile Network" - this will be found under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.network.telephony.MobileNetworkActivity) and create a shortcut
"Phone info" is also listed under "Settings" in Activities (com.android.settings.RadioInfo) and create a shortcut
Please open "Phone info" and select "LTE only" at the "Set preferred Network Type."
This menu also shows Data network type and Voice network type, which should display "LTE."
On my N9, the "Call Settings" will not have anything selected underneath "Network" or "Band Selection."
Hopefully, you can access your mobile network settings for Straight Talk via "Mobile Network."
Then check settings for your SIM card status in "About phone."
Oh! Thank you for that app! That helps a lot so I don't have to type that string into the dialer every time!
Unfortunately this is what I'm looking at with LTE only selected and I also went through the whole list and tried every one of them just in case and they all look the same only with some variation in signal strength but that's about it...
You are welcome, @cloudyrei, and so sorry that I couldn't help you.
Please set your phone back to its original mobile network settings.
Please remove your screenshot because it has your phone number and other info on it.
Is your phone on Android 10, One UI 2.5?
I looked around for Straight Talk's (AT&T) APN settings, and found this:
Straight Talk APN Settings for Android 2023 - 5G 4G LTE APN USA
Straight Talk Verizon AT&T T-Mobile US 5G 4G LTE 3G Internet and MMS Settings for Android Galaxy S9 S8 S5 S6 S7 M21 M31 F41 S20+ S21 S21+ 5G Tab Note On HTC One Desire Wildfire LG Optimum Xperia LG APN Settings by SMS Text APN to 611611 Straight Talk APN for Android On the
www.apnsettings.org
Before tinkering with your apn settings, you may want to contact Straight Talk to confirm you have 4G LTE.
I had to contact the service provider for a new sim card because it would not register the IMS.
Here's the settings on my N9:
Oh heck you're right! I thought about that maybe having my info on it awhile after I put it up but forgot to go back and check! I haven't gotten any weird calls yet at least so woo!
Yes my phone is on Android 10, One UI 2.5
I reverted the mobile network settings and tried the other APN and it does make it so the mobile data works, however, I still can't make phone calls or text.
I'm sure I have LTE as all of the things function normally with the sim in the backup phone with the cracked screen I have, It's a Galaxy S10.
Here's my settings in the Note 9 as of now. I cropped out the part with my number and such this time lol.
Are you turning off the power in your N9 when you place the SIM card in it, @cloudyrei?
Thank goodness you did not receive any strange phone calls. lol
Does Straight Talk send you a "configuration message" via text for your APN, SMS, and browser settings when you place your SIM in your N9?
I do not download the configuration message for APN, SMS or browser settings.
I noticed that downloading each one changes the default SIM.
If you downloaded the configuration message settings, you could try setting it back to the default settings for your SIM by going into "Settings," "Connections," "Mobile Networks," then "Access Point Names."
Then reset to default by clicking on the 3-button menu.
Please power off your N9 if you reset the SIM.
Remove SIM, wait a few, Insert SIM, then power on.

I had to request a new SIM from CC after the 3G shutdown.
The IMS would not register on the N9 or N20U.
The SIM card I had to replace was originally used in an unlocked Galaxy Note8, which was on Consumer Cellular network with a T-mobile SIM.
The new SIM is an AT&T SIM.
I remember reading that some N9 owners had problems after the 3G shutdown and had to get a new SIM.
Then, I tinkered around with the "Phone settings," (from Activity Manager's shortcut) and set it to LTE only.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I bought my sister a Note 9 specifically for the deprecation of 3/2G.
Verizon finished sunsetting their towers recently and now my sister's N960U cannot even connect to the towers that would send config messages. And "VoLTE provisioned" is not enabled.
This sim works in other VoLTE phones and gets provisioned. Its only the N9 that won't provision.
One thing I noticed was the IMEI number under Phone Info is one number off from the IMEI that shows under "About Phone" is this normal?
I would figure that the IMEI should be complete in "Phone info" and maybe thus us the reason why Straight Talk can't provision VoLTE?
@rjones97
My apologies for replying so late to your questions about your sister's Note9.
Were you able to receive service with Straight Talk for her phone?
Unfortunately, we haven't. Straight Talk support is assuring me that everything is configured correctly on their side. The last thing they did was submit a report to Verizon about the account. They said to expect a reply the next day, but nothing came through.
Hi, @rjones97
Is your sister's N9 unlocked?
If your sister had service w/ Verizon/Straight Talk before Verizon ended service for 2/3G, you may want to ask if they will send you another SIM card for her Note9.
I had to get another SIM (AT&T) from Consumer Cellular because the IMS service would not register.
Or you could try these settings on this webpage to see if her phone will work.
