I've followed the guide in this link to a tee: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051270&page=8
However, at the end, I am unable to run Google Chrome; I receive the error message:
"Critical functionality required to run Chrome is missing; either your Chrome installation is incomplete, or not compatible with this version of Android."
I figure the problem might've been in installating the Google Framework, but I am unsure as this is my first tablet.
In addition, I attemped to install Firefox from the Play Store. It installed correctly, however, it closes within seconds of opening the application.
thanks

I followed the same guide and had the same issue. I fixed it by reinstalling chrome. Went back into system/apps and clicked on the chrome apk, installed it, no issues since.

Hey folks,
I hope someone can help me with my problem. I am out of ideas.
I got a preowned BN Nook HD+, with Android 4.4.4 and already installed Cyanogenmod (I think it was version 9).
Google Play Store was already installed, so I downloaded my desired apps and all was good.
Then the system showed me updates for CM 10, 11 and 12 (the excact version, which is shown in option: 11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-ovation). I downloaded and installed all. First 10, than 11 and 12.
Everytime I booted, after 11 and then 12, a message appeared "Google Play Services stopped". I ignored it at first.
When I started Play Store, the app closed itself immediatelly. So I googled this problem and tried out a lot of stuff: Cleared cache, deleted data, deleted the play store app and reinstalled it. But no success, the play store still crashed after starting it.
So, I did a factory reset: Options -> Save and restore. I did the initial setup again and had a clean new install on the tablet. Downloaded the Play Store again and... still crashing (The message "Play Services stopped" didn't appear this time).
So now I have no apps (from the play store) and I can't reinstall them. The tablet is kind of useless to me right now.
What can I do? Any thoughts?
EDIT:
I tried to install gapps for 12, but I get an error (status 7) after hit "Install from SD Card.
What recovery is installed on your Nook? I believe you may have to install a newer version of that in order for CM 12 to of been installed correctly.
Wow I have the exact same issue here. I use CWM vs 6046 for internal memory (Nook HD)
So i had the same status 7 error and read somewhere that the problem was with the CWM version on the sd card.
so i upgraded that to the latest one and that got rid of the status 7 error, but I am still now getting the play store error. Also now my 8gb card only shows as 800 mg.
what to do, what to do?
Hi,
I have a 7th generation Fire 7 that I downgraded to 5.4.0 and debloated following the method in another tread (bascically running "adb uninstall -k" over the packages) and put Google Playstore on it.
In this process I lost (of course) the Amazon Prime Video Player which I thought I could simply reinstall via the Playstore.
But alas, not so.
It seems I cannot install any Amazon-Apps anmore. I cannot install the Prime Video Player, the shopping app, nor the Amazon Appstore itself.
The error I get is "App not installed", I assume this is because debloating via "uninstall -k" leaves the data-directories around that that probably prevents a new install.
Is there anything I can do now to somehow get the Prime Video player back, apart from doing a factory-reset and starting afresh?
Many thanks!
Factory reset is the only way. You cannot reactivate these disabled apps, and you cannot install an app that has the same package name as a deactivated one.
Hi there,
got an Fire 7" 9th gen, downgraded os to 6.3.1.2 build 000217050244 according to instructions here in the forum.
Also did this here successfully. https://forum.xda-developers.com/am...ire-7-2019-mustang-unbrick-downgrade-t3944365
So far, the Amazon fire runs fine except when i try to run the google playstore.
Pushed the following files to the fire tablets "download" folder:
- com.google.android.gsf_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI22(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
- com.google.android.gsf.login_5.1-1743759-22_minAPI21(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
- com.android.vending_7.0.25.H-all_0_-80702500_minAPI14(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
- com.google.android.gms_11.5.09_(230-164803921)-1109230_min_API21(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_aplmirror.com.apk
on the device, installed them using the filemanager that comes default. All good so far.
i am even able to start the playstore, i starts and i enter my payment credentials , after that i can browse the apps, but after selecting "install" on any app in the playstore, it just crashes. I am not able open playstore again, i opens and instantly closes.
Re-installing the apk files mentioned above helps to get tht playstore opened again but then same as before -> select "install" -> crash -> not able to open playstore again.
Since i am not aware of any system logs on the fire tabled, i have no clue whats going on.
Can anyone point me in some direction where to look for the cause of the issue?
Thanks and best

That's the problem, Google API services version is wrong. Make sure the Google API services version is corrected to Android version with 7.1.2 and API 25.
Try it to remove any Amazon apps folder like DeviceSoftwareOTA, DeviceSoftwareOTAContracts in /system/priv-app directory, install Google API services (Google Account Manager - v7.1.2, minimum API 25, Google Services Framework - v7.1.2, minimum API 25) as a system application or user application and reboot.

- reset device
- install Google Play Store via Amazon Toolbox which will deliver the build most appropriate for your device
- resist temptation to 'fix' previous mistakes with further hacks (↑↑) that will likely yield a FrankenFire which will eventually have to be rest/rebuilt.

Guys I'm in a major fix here. Any help would be appreciated.
K20 Pro Global Version - Currently on MIUI Global 11.0.1.0(QFKMIXM)
Rooted via Magisk
Everything was perfectly fine until I noticed 'microG installer Revived' on Magisk and decided to install it.
After I rebooted, Youtube Vanced wouldn't open stating that it won't run without Google Play Services. Same issue with Gmail as well. I went into the microG settings and accepted all the missing permissions. Added my Gmail account, signed in and accepted all the other permission pop-ups that came after.
Despite this everything is still messed up. Gmail and Youtube still gives the same error msg and Chrome keeps crashing.
I tried uninstalling microG but that was an even bigger mistake as the Google Play Services I installed via apk kept crashing.
If someone could pls guide me on how to get the system to how it was prior to the microG installation :crying:
So I managed to fix it somewhat. Uninstalled microG then installed the right version of Google Play services as well as the calendar and contacts sync apks.
No more crash messages but the issue I'm having now is that some app notifications don't work and others (such as Whatsapp) work only sometimes.
And for some really weird reason my Gmail no longer is (or has the option) in dark mode.
Anyway to fix these issues guys?
I've the same problem with my Huawei Mediapad M5 tablet. I've tried to reflash the original "SYSTEM.img" from fastboot mode, but nothing changed. I don't want to do a full reinstall because of this mistake, is there any solution?
Messing with microG is a recipe for disaster because in and of itself it is disastrous, reflash the firmware from scratch and use the Vanced magisk version even though it isn't the last version it works just fine

It's an absolute nightmare, not sure why the devs don't just update the Magisk version, and I agree the Magisk version works perfectly fine
MicroG works only on systems that don't have GAPPS. That should have been included in the documentation.
I had the same problem (I installed the microG installer revived on a cell phone that had google play services, which caused me that error; I installed the magisk module without knowing what it was for), I solved it by doing the following:
1. Uninstall micro-g and google play services and then restart the terminal.
2. Download and Install (install as system application with lucky patcher) the latest version of the google play services apk, restart.
3. Log out or remove google account from device, reboot device.
4. Login or add google account on the device again, restart the device for the last time; and voila problem solved.
I can't remove my account for some reason, and also I can't add a new google account
Hi Guys, have the same problem. has anyone found a solution? would hate to reset it
Trying to work out what it could be for the first post. It sounds like MicroG was installed while the Google Play services were already on the device.
I have actually manually removed Google Services using the debloater magisk module and run it via terminal.
I'm currently using CrDroid Android 12 and it's working fine with MicroG revived version. I have been testing the Android 13 with MicroG and have issues with the Play Store signing in
Hello there!
As per title I'm having a hard time installing any apk that's not coming from the Play Store.
Never happened with any other phone and googling for an hour and a half didn't help, so I've decided to post it here.
Emui10 (last build).
Play protect is disabled.
Chrome is enabled as unknown source.
Tried also third party installers with no luck.
I uploaded a little video but can't post it due to anti spam policy, in wich it shows the installation process starts, but in the end says "App not installed".
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for any help!
A little update:
Tried to install them via ADB but that's the error I get:
[INSTALL_FAILED_DUPLICATE_PERMISSION: Package com.vanced.android.youtube attempting to redeclare permission com.mgoogle.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE already owned by com.mgoogle.android.gms]
Unfortunately my knowledge ends here...

YouTube came preinstalled on P30, so you have to use adb to remove it before you try to install a new one.
Here you can find the guide to remove it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...w-to-remove-huawei-bloatware-vog-ele-t4014937

Strange thing is that on my previous phone I had both YouTube (the official one), and YouTube Vanced...
Uninstalling via ADB ends in an error (can't rememeber which one as I'm afk atm). Another strange thing is that I already successfully unisntalled a lot of other processes mentioned in the guide you linked!
Now that I'm writing I guess that the phone clone process could have messed up some app/permissions, so I guess I'm doing a factory reset, clone everything but apps, try to install Vanced and Microg and then reinstall all my apps manually :good:
