Did anyone tried this?
Actually here is the hope:
When my JB on XT925 something went wrong, I was able to go back to ICS 4.0.4 with the utility 1.10.
However, it will install the Verizon version of 4.0.4 on your phone, so if you are with another provider, it will say that your SIM card does not mach the current network (Verizon).
But, it will let you update to JB of your choice & install the CWM-SuperSU-v0.99 (for root) on your XT925 .
So, as a the last resort reason, you can use it on XT925.

I would try the to delete getvar from the Atrix HD ICS sdf but I'm saving up for another Honda Accord.... Being unable to root makes this phone useless but I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I might say fu ck it and try after my daughter goes to sleep tonight.
I bricked my phone :highfive: but only after I tried to flash the Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR HD VZW_XT926_4.0.4-7.7.1Q-144_VQW_S3-34-25_CFC files. I knew what was gonna happen. I was hoping for a miracle.
RSD LITE only says "Dqhsusb_dload"
I think I'm gonna get a Galaxy S3 now.

Not a bad choice.
Lots of development going on for the S3 no matter which carrier you're on.
My S3 is great, but my note 2 just blows everything else right out of the water (if you can handle a 5.5" screen).

Why is that, I asked the RAZR HD guys and they said they can go back to ICS just fine from JB and we cant? Maybe we can find the difference in the FXZ and edit it ?

As i write here i am working on it, i am taking a look at the XML file and i am requesting external help to see if we can get it to work, so we can finally have a way to get root access for the people on JB, ill post later any update on the matter.
when I have time and solve my "storage problem" maybe I post a guide how I re obtain root on JB...
still I dont feel very confortable with this phone, just 3 custom ROMs, and the forums are very quiet just asking the same question
I think I'm gonna buy an HTC One X or S3 mini

I await your results eagerly Sir. Becoming unrooted due to my own error was painful. I'm dying to regain root. And if I can't root I at least want the ap fastboot screen to stop appearing each reset. What exactly is different from you're new method and the old rsd methods that have you remove getvar?

well, if you use it as a phone to make actual real voice calls, Motorola is just better than the others.
Some people are ok with the JB update but for myself with a lapdock, ICS was more suited for my needs; I would go back to ICS in a heartbeat.
(I'm even close to sell the Atrix HD and get a new one, just not to update it to JB.)

The DROID RAZR HD XT926 CAN go back to ICS as the secure version did NOT increase in the Jellybean update.
On the Atrix HD, it has increased for the official Jellybean.

Does anyone know of a working cyanogenmod ROM for the vivid? On there site its not on the device list yet
Also on a side note, I have unlocked the bootloader and have perm root. Do I need S-off and if so how do I do it?
Be patient. It was just unlocked and developers are getting to work.
Soon there will be awesomeness coming to the development forum.

seriously? it got unlocked yesterday and you think there would already be a CM build?
the only way to get a working Cyanogenmod right now would be for you to build it, because it doesnt exist.
right now there is no S-Off yet
**EDIT**
dont mean to come off like a **** with this post, but a Cyanogenmod release literally doesnt happen overnight....and they wont support it until someone does the work of getting it built and working on the device.
Well since other carriers were unlocked before yesterday I didn't know if someone had already been working on it...
Also this is my first android so just a heads up for any other newbies when I used the HTC dev site to unlock the phone it resets the phone wiping your data

I chatted w/attn1 yesterday and he said if we'd get him a Vivid, he'd build CM7 for it.
Saw a page calling themselves htcvividforum.com that said they could put the inspire cm7 on the vivid, and pointed to this XDA thread for the Inspire 4G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226584. I was wondering if anybody had tried that? I have my doubts, being it's a different phone and all.... maybe I am cross eyed and can't read.
The link to the page that claimed this:
www.htcvividforum.com/custom-roms/bbmod-rom-beta-v1-3-3-cm7-nightly-w-treats/msg71185/?
That site is pretty bogus. It's a clone of http://www.htcinspireforum.com, which, if you go to it, shows identical posts with "vivid" swapped for "inspire". I wouldn't try flashing an ace build to your Vivid.
the ACE and the HOLIDAY are not even close to having the same hardware.....i agree with kxhawkins, the site is bull****

They come from Motorola. However, they are not files that would normally be released to the public, so we have to wait and see if someone is nice enough to leak them for us.

I've heard the equivalent experience with the Droid Razr fastboot restore file used around here and other fora as support for the idea that the D4 restore should be leaking soon. What I've never heard was how long it took from release of the phone to a leaked usable restore. I'm deferring taking my bricked Droid 4 back to the store and playing dumb to try to get a warranty exchange in hopes I can just unbrick my phone sometime in the coming days or maybe weeks.

I'll in the same boat. I soft-bricked my D4 earlier this week and I feel like trying to swap it would be wrong. I messed it up, so I should fix it. I just have to play the waiting game.

I did a little google-fu and calendar math and came up with an answer to my earlier question about how long it took for the Droid Razr to have a leaked fastboot file.
That phone was released on 11 November 2011. Its fastboot recovery appeared here on 29 December the same year. That's 48 days.
48 days after the release of the Droid 4 (February 10th) was March 29th. That was 11 days ago.
So, the example of the Droid Razr leaked fastboot is interesting, but not necessarily insightful. It's already taken longer than it did for the Razr.
Sigh.
Here's a scarier thought. The Droid Bionic was released in September, and fastboot files didn't leak until February. Hopefully it won't take much longer! I'm very close to just using my spare upgrade to get a RAZR MAXX, or maybe the Droid Fighter that is supposed to come out soon.
Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Not true, we had Bionic fastboot files for the stock release within a couple weeks.
This is actually very unusual that we have not seen them yet for this phone.
Ah, my bad. I should have looked into that further. The article I read about it made it seem like the ones that leaked in February were the first.

I could really use this right about now. Can't seem to figure out why my OTA update is failing and I'd love to be able to revert to stock and then apply it, if only I had the fastboot file =(

Download the update (do a Google search for the link) and put it on your SD card. Boot into recovery and apply the update. It will tell you where it's failing. You'll probably need to get a stock system dump and copy over any files that are missing/altered, making sure to change the permissions and owner if necessary.

Thanks...I would have done this but I don't have an external SD and for some reason the update won't apply if it's from internal storage.
EDIT: Got it working! Turns out my system/build.prop file was the culprit. I replaced it with a stock build.prop file, fixed the permissions, and then the update succeeded.
There is a link in the Eternity Project thread in the Dev section for fastboot files! I just downloaded it, but haven't tried using it yet. Someone with a bricked D4 wanna try these out?

I will, later today. When I checked the link earlier, it was a 404 at the download site, but I have the page bookmarked at The Eternity Project and will give it a swing this evening (US Central time). My D4 is about as bootlooped as it gets, so I think I'm a prime candidate for this.
I really really really hope this works. My D4 has been bricked for weeks.
I was able to download the file so it looks like the link must be fixed. I look forward to hearing if it works for you! My D4 is running fine so I'm a little hesitant to try it out myself.

Me too, though I do believe these things have to be signed or they won't flash, so theoretically there shouldn't be much risk for us
This really has made my day. I remember back when I first got my OG Droid, I somehow managed to screw up EVERYTHING in the first week (CWM and ROM), so being able to bring the phone back to life via RSDLite was awesome.

Im going to have to get a better computer just to do this as i only have 3gb of ram and a intel celeron pro......
so in a mouth or 2 i will get a better computer and will also on top of this make a stock ICS rom and then also work on geting 100% working as will so there will be more to come from me soon guys so keep a eye out for the new stuff coming soon to the droid 3!!!
WARNING THIS MAY BRICK UR PHONE,
I need an USA resident that has a contract with ATT for testin, for more info pm PLZ, ASAP
This will only help you guys out.
One tester that has an att contract and is willing to get a warranty replacement if it does not work, is all that is needed. The process was verified on the RAZR and we did something similar on the Atrix2.
If this works you might be able to go back to ICS from JB to root and use something like root keeper to get JB back, just a thought here.
And yes I know most of you do not know me, but I was one of the Devs on the Atrix2, and I am now a free agent so to speak while waiting for the Ubuntu Phone OS to drop, so I am just trying to help a few of you out here, and triloger asked me to take a look at this with him.
There are no guarantees, but this is worth a shot.
As jim said its worth giving a shot

Thank you testers! I would offer too if my phone were not already on jb.
The DROID RAZR HD XT926 CAN go back to ICS as the secure version did NOT increase in the Jellybean update.
On the Atrix HD, it has increased for the official Jellybean.

...hey bro talk to triloger for further details
I tried downgrading, to no avail. I upgraded to JellyBean 4.1.1 via OTA and lost root (whoops), so I tried flashing back to ICS 4.0.4. It wouldn't let me, so I decided to reflash ICS a few more times. Nothing bad happened until the last try, which bricked my phone. I'll confirm (for now) that you unfortunately cannot go back to ICS from JB on an AT&T Atrix HD. :C
I dont know if he is even working on a method anymore....
I would donate if I knew he was capable/willing to figure out how to root or roll back the AHD.

You're story is missing some details. Firstly, it doesn't come with any version past 2.3.4, so you must have done some hacking before that. In either case, the simplest solution to a bricked device is flashing a 2.3.4 sbf using rsd lite. (You could get the latest sbfs from sbf[dot]droid-developers[dot]org. See this article for more information: Thread 1255198
