Hi there,
As you know, Galaxy Ace is an awesome phone but generally suffers from poor battery life and limited internal memory.
Both of these kernals are fantastic, but the ROMS that I've tried generally give the option to use PSN kernal or Battery Extender kernal. Which means I can either have lots of extra memory for apps or awesome battery life but not both?
Is it possible to get the features of both kernals in one? :victory:

hmm. to the best of u guys knowledge, can i hear from u guy which combinations (roms, kernel, modem) is the best for batt life?
i had tried the wiping of batt stats, but the result is almost the same. my galaxy s can hardly last for a day with normal usage (facebook, few mins of games, texts)
kinda disappointed the batt life of galaxy s. lol
Overall Darky rom tend to have low battery life, drain, etc. I tried first with Hardcore's kernel, then Voodoo, which was even worse. The idle drain was not that bad, but when I used the phone... 2min/1%!!! That was mad.
So I put back the old and reliable doc rom with speedmod, and although it's not that smooth, the battery life is pretty powerful!
(no lagfix)
would be kinda easier if you did a POLL here which kernel to use for good battery life.
I am on stock JPY 2.2.1 + speedmod and my SGS battery almost doubled.
Ive heard the Damian's kernel with undervolting is very good for battery life
ok polls are up.
Do let me know if i missed out any good roms / kernels combinations, as I gathered them based on popularity.
and also if possible, share yur opinion on the performance of the roms / kernels that u are using. thks =D
more polls pls!
It all depends upon the way you use it. I prefer Stock Kernel for battery life.
Jve gingerbread modem has made the biggest improvement in battery life for me
Stock JPY, Insanity SpeedMod OC-1200Mhz/UV, ext4, JVE gingerbread Modem,
Hi guys ,i'm on C-ROM BEAN 2.3 WHICHI LIKE IT , but battery life is not that good .Which kernel is better for that? Devil or Semaphore ?
Devil kernel is the better 1
If you have troubles with your battery life the last thing you should look at is changing rom or kernel IMO.
I use CM10 and semaphore with 10% overclock and i use less than half my battery each day.
The best way to reduce battery is to look at whats using it. In most cases it's you who uses it, lots of screen time and/or high brightness could be half of your total energy usage.
it could be that you are already using your battery in a very efficient way. If that is the case, you should get Better Battery Stats, you can download it from the developers XDA thread. That app allows you to see whats keeping your phone from going into sleep mode.
In most cases it are apps keeping your phone busy. Maps for instance has an option to track your location history, this wakes your phone a lot and could cause 10% of your energy usage.
Kernels make a difference, but it's minimal.
Hey guys, just thought I'd poll and ask some questions?
So if looking for the best possible battery life (over peformance) which is recommended,
true official stock samsung ROM? or stock ROM e.g. Adrenaline ROM etc
I've tried Stocklite, Adrenaline and am currently using Thunderbolt. However my battery life never goes over a day, even with Juice Defender Ultimate and SetCPU profiles.
Any one else have any experiences with good roms? Battery calbiration tips? charging tips anything?
Thanks

1.The battery life depends more upon your baseband rather than the roms.
Ofcourse the roms do make a difference!
Eg. Earlier i was using Stocklite v7.1 on DDKQ8, and it used to last a day, now on XWKTM it lasts more than that.
2.The battery calliberation is said to be a myth as an official google android developer stated that it does not affect the battery in anyway. (Tried it personally too, no change in battery life!)
3.Underclock when you are not using heavy apps on your phone.
4.The way you use your phone makes a great difference, switch off the bluetooth, gps, data, wifi when not needed! Reduce the brightness, it saves the battery!
Hope all this would help you!
Hi,
Whether I'm on the latest SlimBean, CM10 or CM9, battery life is always bad for me. I don't have draining apps and when the phone is idle it's not using battery at all. The problem lies within usage, when I'm using my phone, the battery life goes down too fast (when I'm using Whatsapp and Gmail. Especially when you compare it to stock.
I've done a bit of reading and many people suggest the Modem and Kernel files can have a huge impact on battery life.
So, I wonder, what would you guys recommend to increase my battery life during usage?
I've found this thread with modems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870460
(My wish is a fast phone with a ROM that looks nice, like the latest SlimBean, but I appreciate battery life more. However, a rooted Gingerbread stock ROM goes so slow...)
Hello, what is for you the best kernel/governor to get smooth and responsive experience with the best battery life ? Thanks.
Im on jdc team aosp rom and the battery life plus performance is excellent on the stock kernel settings. You can try bb kernel for this rom too, which has performance benefits and maybe minor degrade in battery life, not noticeable to most users. Ill suggest you use stock kernel on this rom. Note: im also using google play services doze and unified hosts adblock magisk modules. For good battery life, download the app called app opd from play store and from there restrict background activity permission for apps you dint want running in the background and dont want notifications from. Also restrict keep awake permissions.
Ive tried tweaking kernel settings in maby ways in many roms and many kernels. It never gives any better battery life, rather affects performance badly. Dude you bought a snapdragon 820 phone. Dont worry so much about battery and enjoy your life. Use my suggestions in first paragraph and youll be fine.
