[JB 4.1.2] 483 MB RAM to 625 MB RAM - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After i updated my gfs Galaxy S Advance from GB to JB i was unhappy to see that there was only 483 MB ram available.
I flashed as instructed by using Odin and cause of the 'Auto Reboot' in Odin the device booted without factory reset first.
I then went into recovery and did a factory reset and cache wipe, still this left me with 483 MB total ram available in a fresh JB rom.
I then did another factory reset in recovery went straight to download mode and used Odin to flash the JB rom once again.
This time after flashing JB when the device booted it had 625 MB total memory available.

Do you remember how much RAM was used before, when you had 483MB? Because there is more used RAM now on JB than on GB before. When I clan RAM in Task manager there is about 360MB free, and on GB it was around 200MB (but it was not on stock).

If i remember correctly it uses like 375/483 or now 375/625
Major difference.
That JB uses more ram then GB is fine with me, a good OS uses it's available RAM.

had the same prob fixed by reflashing... and the RAM usage was same in the first case around 425 MB
btw why did u start the thread if your problem was fixed?

Just to inform people about the 483 MB RAM issue.
Not every thread starts with a question

I did the following steps
Factory reset via settings- also erased the phone memory.
Then flashed with odin
Success in flashing jb....
Then go to recovery and factory reset again
But now the confusing part....my phone memory is as it is, why it did not got erased?

Do you mean your user data or your internal SDcard?
User data should get wiped with a factory reset, internal SD doesn't.

SAMSUNG BRAZIL reports that Samsung Galaxy S2 Lite ( GT-I9070's name in brazil ) have 555mb of RAM memory.
In GB it showed 483mb RAM.
In JB it shows 625 RAM ( as if my handheld has 768 ram as the international hardware specs says ).
I downloaded some app that showed that my device has 625 RAM available from an 1GB RAM Module. Maybe JB somehow manages to use more memory from my module after all?
Thanks.

That's weird.. as far as I know all S Advance (aka SII Lite) has 768 MB Total and 555 MB user accessible on GB and 625 MB user accessible on JB... Only for some people it showed 483 MB instead of 625 MB on JB (which I think is a bug and can be fixed easily)... Our device totally has 768 MB RAM physically so how did some apps show 1 GB RAM..?

I was saying that on S2 there is 1GB, and user can see around 768. Like we have 768, and we see 625.

I know this is an old thread and I'm digging it up but I have a similar problem. I was on stock GB and I decided to go for JB using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198341
I'm currently on CoCore Kernel 6.2 with LightJB v1.2 ROM. All is well except the RAM. My device only shows 555MB. Shouldn't I have 625MB available memory?

With CoCore kernel you must have 629 MB. Try to wipe/reset cache/factory and see what happened.

I had same problem. Reflash rom and you get 625MB. When i first flash stock JB i was 350MB, seccond flash i was 450MB and after third flash i was 625MB

So reflash stock JB or any custom ROM?

Mr.KhmerSHIFT
Let me know which Kernel you flash & download...
My P1000 before send to Claim Warranty(Available space 12.66GB,Device memory 1.83GB)
After Claim Warranty my P1000 device memory less than before...(because Samsung Staff flash my device)
Thanks!
I'm assuming that you flashed to Honeycomb or something like that...
You're internal memory has probably been converted to ext4 which the kernel you are running probably doesn't recognize. You need to take it back to stock froyo then up to gb to get back your memory.
This is what happened to me using honeycomb.
A little reading would've got you the answers...
If you still haven't got your memory back after restocking then assume the problem is hardware... Warranty problem.
I have same problem. I had up stock fw 2.2 but internal sd still error.

[Q] internal memory shrinked to 209 mb !!

am sry if this is a repost i actually searched but couldn't find a post ,
well i flashed my galaxy tab with gingerbread 2.3 everything seems fine but the only problem is that the internal sd card memory just shrinked to 209 mb instead of 16 gb plz any help would be appreciated
Let's see if I can help you, but first can you provide more details on what actual version of GB you flashed and how you flashed it (ODIN or official signed zip)?
first of all i tried the honeycomb by spacemoose1 and after the reboot just got a blank screen so i then flashed this file P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJPZ_HOME.tar with P1_EUR.pit as pit file which should have gave me the gingerbread and it does but the 16gb just shrinked to 209 mb
from where u got this pit file ? is not for this rom and for ginger
u need to flash stock froyo with pit to solve this bloody issue and then pleas use one of samfirmware.com gb roms without pit file as inside the tar "rom" there is pit file
chhers
Sort of what I was going to suggest...

thanks bro for ur advice , but all am confused of now is finding the right froyo stock rom with compatible pit file , cuz don't wanna loose my tab for another foolish trial , may u help me on this , and thanks in advance
i got this link hxxp://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/all-samsung-galaxy-tab-froyo-22-and.html[/url] but it has a lot of versions and firmwares am i supposed to choose one of them if yes , according to what am i supposed to shoose it ?or just anyone of them will work ?
i think that P1000JPJis wat i need since am in arabic region, will it b fine to flash this version of froyo ?
Personnally I would go for the P1000XWJJ7 (not the NEW) which appears to actually be JJ5. I found that Kies actually recognized this as a valid version.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
so u prefer that i go for the P1000DDJJ5 P1.PIT Version 2.2 October 2010 ?
is this wat u meant by (not the NEW)?
On the list from the link that you sent there are two XWJJ7 roms - I recommend the 1st one; I've tried them all and this was the best one with an unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
ok after i get the rom what is the best way to flash it ?
open odin, load it in the pda area , check repartition and hit start , after finishing wipe the cache and do hard reset from the recovery mode , that's it ? don't i need to load a certain pit file ,
also i've been told that pit file is used to repartition the internal memory of the tab so wondered if there a certain pit file that can repartition my tab
Yes, except that you should use the associated PIT (P1_add_hidden ) file for that rom as that was probably what went wrong last time - the internal memory wasn't partitioned correctly for the GB release.
did the whole process as k0sh said still the same problem ,the firmware is working perfectly and smooth btw i realized the device memory (1.19gb ) is intact and working all the problem in the USB storage memory instead of being12.8 gb it is 209 mb
Did you flash a stock Froyo release together with the associaated PIT file and with Re-Partition ticked, using Odin3 v1.70?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
ya i did exactly what u r saying but unfortunately still 209 mb :S:S
Mmmm.... my next step then would be try and flash a safe stock gingerbread rom as provided by the Overcome development team. Don't flash the overcome rom itself (unless you want too) but just flash the safe stock GB to see if it returns your onboard SD memory.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
and that's exactly what i did and it solved the whole sh*t , thanx man for helping throughout this issue, and of course thanx to the overcome team for such rom
Glad to hear it, enjoy.

[Q] after soft brick - safe way to root and customize

Hello,
I have a N7000 16 GB, bought there is 3 weeks.
it came with GB. I did the samsung upgrade to go in ICS : XXLPY.
I tried a simple tutorial to root it, and soft brick my device.
today, it is repaired and my device is in GB again XXLC1 version. baseband : N7000XXLB2
I think I dind't lost anything in room available as it says
Total memory : 11.07 GB. free memory 10.95 GB.
my question is :
today, with my device, and version, there is still a risk if I root it ? is it in my device ?
it is not really clear for me if it comes from the ICS provided by Samsung, or if it is in something like a BaseBand Radio rom or something like that (something which is not change by a new ROM)
I was hoping be able to Root it in GingerBread, then install a custom rom ICS, a stable and safe one.
many thank you for something clear for me.

So right now the device is running the stock GB software right?
what i'd suggest:
Flash the Abyss kernel [through odin], this will root the device and itll also install CWM recovery.
After youve done that, get into CWM recovery, wipe the device and install the rom of your likings.
stay on GB.

Hello,
yes, right now, the device is working fine, on GB 2.3.6
if I go on ICS, custom, rooted, starting from GB, is there s risk ?
or the risk and mistake was to go in ICS officially (samsung upgrade) aand try to root it ?
ICS is nice. and there is some nice App like Chrome which does not work in GB...
thanks

Samsung I9000 galaxy s MAD

Hi everybody,
Phone Model: Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Made in Country: Korea
Current ROM: 2.3.6 (i flashed this OS by Odin). Baseband: I9000JVU. Karnel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] # k16-11
Build: Gingerbread.XXJVU
Internal Memory: 16GB
Listening Music, Capturing Photo and Video, wifi, Btooth, etc are OK.
Current PROBLEMS:
1. Force Close Box Shows at start-up.
2. After Start-up maximum programs r shown on menu but not run. (example-air control lite, aldiko ebook, allshare, angry birds etc).
3. Internal memory is anyhow fixed(1.4 gb used, 12.4 gb free), not deleted anythings, no pasted on it, not formated.
4. Restarting Several times in a day.
5. Outgoing Call is ok but incoming call is not OK. when a call is made to this no, only a ringtone is heard for 1 second and then the network signal is vanish, then after a few second the network come again.
6. Mobile tracker is on, i can not off. i dont know the 8 digit code.
Solution i HAVE TRIED:
1. Flashed by ODIN with Froyo(2.2.1), Gingerbread(2.3.6, 2.3.4)(PIT, CSC, PDA, PHONE).
2. Flashed by Heimdall with GB and Froyo.
3. Format internal SD with PC by USB storage, BY Phone Settings, By CWM recobery option, By normal recovery option, by PC with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.1. Also tried with Convert to rfs/ext4 by cwm speedmod karnel. BUT I CRIED and crying, no result, old files r back as king stupid.
What should i do? I hope there will be the right person who can solve the problem. BUT i dont know who is THE BOSS.

You can try flashing a jellybean or ICS ROM. That's not a solution, but a good workaround.

Yes I will agree try to upgrade your firmware to either custom Rom > ics or jellybean..

Odin is only used to flash stock ROM eg froyo, gingerbread
To flash ICS or JB you need working memory, because you flash from recovery.
Not long ago I had a problem with my phone. Only stock ROMs worked, ICS and JB bootlooped and I couldn't use the internal memory. I saw it in file managers and Windows, but I couldn't create our paste any file onto it. It turned out to be faulty internal memory, which just died. I gave it to a Samsung repair centre and after 2 days they fixed it.

Device memory Problem

Hello guys i have a device memory problem. a very strange device memory problem. I have 200 mb free memory on the storage place on my phone and 500+ mb free memory on the application manager place. How can i fix these differences between these places? To be fully exact, i don't even have a lot of applications. I'm using Buzz Launcher and i have the leaked JB firmware for the note
Thanks in Advance!
Jb leak? You need to keep up official jb is out since long time now.. If you are rooted then use, backup with TBP and do wipes on safe kernel like philz. Download atock jb rom from here with procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Read this thread if you are not rooted for how to root guide.. If you still want to stick to what you have move apps to external sd card (if you have)

The question is can i install this ROM now, if i'm on this Jellybean leak? I don't know if i'm rooted, but i can assure you that i don't have superuser, if that's enough for you to say that im not rooted
No DO NOT try to flash ROMs if you are not rooted, some ROMs have root within them and the phone is rooted while u flash the ROM. But it is better to instead root the phone using the thread from the post by hawk (after which you'll get the superuser access). Then you'll be on a safe Philz kernel where u can go to recovery and clean install a custom ROM.
