[Q] Jessops - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else bought their camera from Jessops uk ? what happens to the warranty now they are in administration?

I bought mine from Jessops but don't worry, your warranty is with Samsung and you can deal directly with them in event of a claim.

Hi apprentice thanks for the reply seems not many people bought from Jessops, i see they have now gone kaput same as Comet .the warranty when you buy anything in the uk is in fact with the shop you purchased from what you mentioned is the manufactures warranty which is a different thing altogether i e if you bought a Sony tv from Currys and it failed you would be able to claim from Currys not Sony.

True but that's only if you purchased a separate warranty from Jessops. In the UK You are covered under the manufacturer's guarantee in all cases of defect, provided you registered the product and have the receipt.
The only disadvantage would be having to send the camera back with inevitable delays in getting it repaired or replaced.
You won't in essence be stuck with a fault that cannot be rectified through Samsung.

Relax were okay even with extended jessops care who is underwritten by domestic and general

Bit of a pisser though if someone had vouchers or had ordered stuff online and didn't get their stuff

Still, like the poster above said, Jessops Care Plan/Photo+ are backed by Domestic and General so you should be fine.

Condolence buddy hope you manage to find something else soon. I loved jessops the staff at my local store in the trafford centre were extreemly knowledgable they seriously loved their jobs and we're in my opinion camera enthusiast first and sales person second. I numerous times went in after buying my slr for help and they helped me no question asked
It is a real doing shame jessops was one of the only stores you can go on try and then buy online can't replace that

[Q] Warranty

I saw that you could buy Samsung Warranty when you buy the SG Note on eBay. Is there ANY way we could purchase a US warranty for our international Note?
Thanks
There is a 1 year international manufacturer warranty on the Samsung galaxy note. Depending on where you purchased it from, you could have purchased an extended warranty, but if you have already purchased a Note you cannot extend it, I believe.
Hi, i know theres one yr warranty for country of origin but i am in the US

I am really not sure but i guess there might be a possibility to extend your warranty even after purchase. This could be an external offer (google for it with the right keywords) and yes indeed... it will cost some bucks :-(
On the other hand: Don't worry about your new Galaxy Note... this sophisticated piece of hardware will perform without any problems for a long time (a good handle assumed!) or it will show any failures in the beginning. And for that rare situation the standard warranty should be enough. Just my 2 cents ;-)
I think India warranty doesnt work in US

European models have 2 year warranty
I have a European note,
Apologies for newbie question,
Is the warranty automatically in place, do you have to register online and if so is there a direct link or do have to go via international Samsung website?
I have no idea which section, one would ask this question
I've literally just now registered my Galaxy Note, I'm not sure if you HAVE to register it online before the warranty becomes valid but I figured I should do so incase. It explains about mobile warranties on the Samsung site but unfortunately I can't post the link, sorry.
If you have a European phone in the US you don't have the benefit of the Samsung warranty unless you ordered through Expansys or somewhere similar like Negri. If you bought it at a place like a secondhand importer you are **** out of luck. And even with the warranty through Expansys and Negri you have to send them your phone which they send to Samsung in Europe so I can't imagine the turn around is very fast.

The question at hand though is: can i buy US warranty? Like how Apple products can? Or any third party insurance companies here in the US cover the int. model?

Leaving for the S3+$80

Now that I've been successful, thought I'd share:
So I just came up for an upgrade on T-Mobile, and BestBuy.com had the GS3 T-Mobile upgrade for $179.99, so I decided "Why not sell this phone on Ebay while it's still semi-popular and get a S3?"
I called T-Mobile, got an unlock code, reverted to stock ICS, and sold my phone on Ebay for $350. After taxes, ebay+paypal fees, phone purchase+activation fee, I netted about an $80 profit after everything was said and done.
Thanks to all of the developers here for your hard work developing for the ugly stepchild of the SII line! I hope you all do well.

according to some leaked news about the next Samsung and HTC are both making each their own flavour of Nexus 5 phones
the model from Samsung it's going to be slightly inferior to the S3, but slightly better than the S2, and they finally put back the SD card, 4.8" display, slightly faster CPU as the previous Galaxy Nexus, the rest is vanilla
HTC is going to release a 5" version with supposedly 1080 display, instead of 720
it'll be interesting the kind of mess and confusion we'll see when both hits the market
Hey I think after selling my phone outright on eBay for that much I would of just found someone on Craigslist and purchased SIII outright and kept my upgrade intact. That's how you flip 'em.... Good job though and congrats

I somewhat agree with this i did the same. Sold my s2 for $320, was going to be $340, but i was a no show because of urgent matters and i gave the guy $20 discount for his troubles. Anyways bought the s3 for $400. So i paid $80 for an upgrade.
Now if you guys haven't heard. T-Mobile and asurion is cracking down on insurance fraud especially for s3. It doesn't matter if it's lost or stolen. From 1 week to 3 months, the s3 will be blacklisted if it was filed for insurance claims.
How did i reassure my purchase, I actually bought mine from the guy's house, he is actually buying the note to help him transition to the note 2. He was a really stand up guy. I asked him to hold the phone for me, and he did for 2 days. Other buyers were inquiring about it constantly but kept his word (note: the average price for s3 around my area is $450, so it's cheaply priced). He was the one who brought up insurance fraud and stuff, and he was saying how people ask him about that and he told me that's just dumb that people do that just for some quick cash. Told me not to worry that i have his number and knows where he lives so just give him a call or anything is wrong with the phone. Really cool guy, i can tell he's a phone junkie like the rest of us.
Tl:dr; insurance is blacklisting s3. If buying from CL get the guy's ID, address etc, you can judge his character, if it's sketchy, don't bother.

Lol it is, the s2 is generally selling for about 250-280 on average around my parts. So it's even better that i can sell mine for above average and buy something below market price lol.
The benefits of keeping your phone in good condition with all the box and accessories. Plus matching imei number and under warranty until february by samsung. Not sure if it carries over on T-Mobile though.
See you over on the s3 side soon lol.

I'm assuming you're kidding the s3 is fairly identical on all the major carries (besides lte capabilities). I definitely miss my Hercules but thankfully it didn't go far my girlfriend and have our upgrades staggered so I always get the new phone and she gets the hand me down. Now I just might have to sell her t989 give her the SIII and boom hello note 2!!
I was thinking of getting the note 2 or the s3 ...in Ghana here the note 2 is 1,590 cedis and the s3 1,450 cedis, so with the current exchange rate of 1$= 2¢edis that will be 725$ for the s3 and 795$ for the note.. but am still not sure as to which one to buy...its not really about the money but which one will be good. In Ghana its very difficult to buy things on eBay, cos you have to pay too much to get a credit card here and still wait forever for you item to be shipped in....have any of you tried one of these?...can you help me select...

FYI - LG repair center front screen cost info

I recently broke my front screen. Sent it to LG for repair. I was surprised that LG only charged $140 for it. They were really fast too, only had the phone for 5 days. Just wanted to let people know because I've seen some screens or repair offers elsewhere online for a lot more. If you break your screen, probably best to just send it to LG.
EDIT: I should say that the repair center I was directed to was in Fort Worth, TX. So it didn't take long for the phone to get there and back either. All told I was without it for 9 days.
Good to know , how's the screen now:thumbup:

Screen's pristine.
I Believe it's the standard price for most screens these days. ... same price for s3 or the bigger note 2
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
Not a bad price, consider though it's initial cost, the screen repair is 40% of a new phone. Or you could look at it like a 60% savings
They didn't mess anything up in the process?
Sent from my 5th and final Nexus 4
Just had the same thing happen to me after owning the phone for about 3 weeks. I shipped it to Ft Worth on a Wed, they received on Friday, got the email from them with detailed info/pricing on Monday, Paid the $140 on Tuesday, they shipped the phone fixed on Thursday and I got it via FedEx on Saturday. So its about a week and a half process from sending to receiving, not bad at all.
The only thing that I will say is that in my particular case, they didn't fix my screen, they sent me a replacement device. I didn't know this until I looked at the device and the receipt. If it's a "brand new" replacement, or a refurb, I'm not sure but its in perfect condition, N4 hasn't been out for long so who knows how many actual damaged units they received and refurbed them for replacements. Not sure either why they didn't just fixed my screen and send me my unit back, all it had is a cracked screen and a impact blemish on the bezel.

I have found that with HTC, Samsung, and now LG that in almost all cases they will send you a replacement device instead of repairing your device and sending it back. It allows for quicker turn around time and it is probably more cost effective than paying to have staff on hand to do the repairs. They will probably send your broken phone back to where it was originally made to have the repair done before selling it as a refurbished device to someone else.

Makes sense, there's probably a chance that the device I received is a refurb. I guess what I'm wondering is how they decide that, a few people around XDA have had theirs fixed, instead of replaced, with the same damage to the screen as mine. Who knows

Same thing happened with me, $140 was not bad compared to any other estimates I found for local repair shops. They sent me a replacement as well - it was in perfect condition though.
I've never been so happy to live in Texas. Another repair center.
When my HTC Nexus One was damaged, I was able to send it in to Houston for a repair, got it back in 2-3 days. When my Samsung Galaxy Nexus decided it no longer wanted to charge, the Samsung Repair Center was in Plano, I drove and had it repaired same day. Now I can go to Ft. Worth to get my Nexus 4 repaired(though I hope it never breaks.)
Hey guys. Sorry to fire up this thread again. I had someone yank my phone out of my pocket yesterday and it smacked the ground head first. Now it has more scratches than a grade school knee scrape. Is the $140 a solid on how much they'll charge me, or does it differ? The back is pretty scratched up too. I regret not buying a case, but it's number one on my list after the repair (which is a lot for a high school student).
I am curios if they check if device is rooted etc or fully functional, before sending out a replacement.

My experience with sending phones in is they don't. Hardware damage obviously has nothing to do with software. You could always lock the bootloader back.

That you can. I started a thread earlier to see if someone would reply with a solid price, but I'm think $140 is kinda sketchy. I'm not sure if that changes or that's the standard price. If it's the standard, I might be able to replace my N4 AND get a case for the new/refurbished one.
How is it sketchy? They are replacing just the screen/bezel and transplanting the parts back into your phone. Someone experienced could do the repair in a half hour. 140 is half the price of the phone. That is a really good deal if you ask me.

my thoughts exactly !
I had several stories from very saying 1. if it is a damaged box we replace the box to 2. this is the way Samsung supply them !
funny cos Samsung say nope they come in a retail box
They then tried the oh you cant return cos you turned it on .. erm distance selling regs I took care and only looked at the item to make sure it was ok (before deciding it wasn't suitable therefore returned back as new) also I needed to get the serial for Samsung before they would speak to me and couldn't see it on the camera cos it was tiny
After some discussions, pictures took of the said item for evidence and returned back to very for a full refund
off to john lewis tomorrow to get a proper boxed camera
Sammy even replied back to me on facebook advising to return it back to very
very naughty if you ask me !

I thought £47 for 3 years peace of mind through john lewis is reasonable though

[Q] Tmobile note 4 replacment quality

Hello I pre-ordered galaxy note 4 and its having issues. The phone doesnt charge properly...i have to plug it in and out couple times for the phone to recognize that it is connected to charger and "dock is connected" notification is keep coming up..so i called tmobile and since warranty is issued, they are going to send out a replacement. My comcern is that they are probably going to send a refurb without any accessories right? I heard some rare instances they send out brand new but most likely its refurb. Anyone has an experience with tmobile refurbs? Are they any good or bad?
Thank you
They probably don't have any refurbished units yet, so you may get a new one. Have got tried another charger? I've seen a couple reports of the adaptive chargers failing.
I will let you know, my replacement is due to be delivered 2nd Dec ( I ordered it earlier today from 611 ). I will check and it and post back for you. I know it sucks to get a refurbed but so long as I dont get one that was rejected by another XDA forum, then I should be good to go HAHAH
Thx for the reply
yes i have my wife got the same phone so tried her charger on my phone and my charger on her phone and its my phone that is having issues. Rep told me that i might be getting a new one but the terms are "brand new or like new" so he has no idea but when he was going through instruction he said it will come with no accessories. .idk if he is reading written terms or telling me i am getting a refurb...

Right fair enough. They said that as I didn't have "insurance" then it would be regular 7day ground delivery. Which will take me over my 14 day refund time frame. Shame but such is life.
I remember a couple of years ago when I was with AT&T they swapped out my GS4 at one of their authorized repair centers. The IMEI label on the back was different to the original one as it didn't have the Samsung logo on it so was definitely a refurbished unit. But worked well.
The T Mobile rep mentioned the same stuff to me as well. Saying it will be just the phone minus battery etc. But she did mention that it was coming directly from the manufacturer whoever that is in T Mobiles language maybe Assurion or Samsung?
My current build date according to the box is 11/5/14 previous to that it was 11/4/14. Made in crappy Vietnam. My perfect note 3 was made in prestigious China haha.

Rumor has it that its approx 2 months before refurbs are ready after initial launch by Samsung.
Either way, does anyone know if the refurbed Galaxy phones are proceeded by a third party vendor for and behalf of t mobile or are they done by the manufacturer Samsung?

Well I can vouch for that. First rep insisted I goto store for replacement and then when she finally realized I wasn't wanting to take that route told me they had no stock LOL. The very same rep also told me to just send my Cel Fi signal booster back without a return label. Glad I didn't listen to her as the second rep needed the imei of the signal booster and created me a return label. That could have cost me $500.
