Low memory on CM9

Hi all,
My phone just started to show that I have a "low memory" I cannot for example install GNow for ICS (this one e.g. says I have only 3 megabytes available in my /sys/ directory).
does anyone know what the problem is? I didn't have such a problem before on a stock rom even with twice as much applications installed.
The problem is more interesting that I have more than 1,5GB of space available on both memories.

A friend of mine had the same issue. I figured out it went away if I went to Settings->Applications->GPS or google maps (can't remember)->clear data.
Eventally it always came back though.

Thank you for the suggestion. Will try.
That is very annoying because the phone has a lot of free space to use and now the ROM just downgrades your otherwise high specs phone to a low-end model without any memory.

The annoying thing is that this was a very popular problem with many solutions but you didn't search.

I'm not sure, I don't install that many apps, but since the script is for cm7 and 9, I don't think so.

Well, I don't install much applications either. I have only 15 apps. And most of them are very small. None exceeds 15MB. But still I receive this kind of error... Strange...

Some apps save loads of cache, go to settings>applications and check which is the trouble causer

I checked caches of all of them and all caches are empty. Even more I downloaded Datafix app and moved some of the applications to the other part. And still no result not even a MB more.

i assume you're getting this message, right? (i know you have ics and this is gb)

Go to Google Play and look for an app called "App Cache Cleaner"...

in fact what I am getting is this: (sorry for the size, but if you click on it it will get bigger )
Unfortunately the other icon I got from the system yesterday I don't have today. But the problem remains the same...

in the first message you said that it was /sys/, not /system/ ....
go to /system/app and see if there is something you can delete, however be careful

Now I can see. Sorry for the confusion.
In the /system/app, there are only .apks for aplications I have installed. Is it safe to delete them? Dont want to lose them

No, don't delete apps you use or are unsure about. I don't know why you don't have enough space, sorry

Hi , if you want to reduce lags on games, do this:
1.install latest busybox from playstore
2.Download And Install Trickster MOD from Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884174 and open it
3.go to "SPECIFIC" tab and turn "GPU 3D SCALING" Off then Apply

the only problem is if you want to disable that , you have to restart you'r phone for saving battery
Note:this app is not builded for O4X(it says unsupported device) - i Founded in nexus 7 forum and worked in my O 4 X - V10H and I am not responsible for anything you do with your phone.
i did benchmark with two programs(snow cold 3d benchmark and antutu 3d rating) and i see big changes before and after that:

It says "Unsopported Device." So i think any changes we make would actually do more harm than make things better. I've installed it, and i notice absolutely no difference while games like Dead Trigger, Shadowgun, and NFS MW.
Do i have to reboot my phone after disabling GPU 3D scaling?

Ok i've installed this to give it a try. But couldn't seem to notice anything. So i've tried to give it a reboot. After that, my phone has been stuck in endless bootloop. And now it won't even get past the boot logo even after a factory reset. So i might have to restore using KDZ.
Be very cautious in installing this app.

NFS:MW (newest ver.) seems to run a little better.

i played nfs most wanted and i see big changes when you are near the police line and when starting with 6 cars
In modern combat 4 and gta vice city and sonic 4 i see less lags
disable is not working and you shoud restart your phone to disable that

Maybe its about wrong busybox installer i'm using this app for more than 1 week and i didnt see anything wrong with that , anyway if your phone didn't boot is not need to factory reset just flash kdz file to save your apps and everything!!!

I really doubt its the busybox...because if i had installed the wrong busybox, the app would've never opened. Anyways, i was able to restore a backup i had made yesterday...so i still have all my apps.

CWM backup to external storage or try Orange backup (Online), found it here on xda, really nice way to backup, no need to go into recovery

Hi XDA developers
this is a method i found on web ( how to downgrade firmwares) and i want to make sure if its ok for galaxy s advance
did any body try it before ? ( i asked the developer who made it there ) and i trust xda opinions so ,
if i want to try the method and it failed .... will it brick my phone ?

No, I accidetnaly tried this. And I didn't have Recovery or Boot to system. Just download mode, and from it I reinstalled JB. For SGSA this is not the way to get back to GB.
P.S. Do some tweeking on JB, in few day it will work just fine.
P.P.S. And tutorial is how to downgrade from 4.1.2. to 4.1.1.

thanks man ... is this means that we will be able to get back to GB :good:
jelly bean is heavy some on my phone ... camera lags a lot and some times it closes the cam automatically after pic taken
battery on JB runs out fast ... sound is low vs GB
would help me to improve my phone on JB till going back to GB ??? thanks alot

You allready have some tips on forum, search it. First you can restart in recovery, and do factory reset. It will bring you phone like it was on first install. Probably some stuff has been left from GB.
I will tell you something quick:
1. Go to developer options in settings, check those two:

Hm, maybe installing JB you lost it... But it can be solved when JB come for your country. Because you installed firmware that is not for your country. And this root method will not harm your warranty.

I linked from other thread.
Disable hardware overlay and Force GPU rendering.
And tra ADW launcher too, it was smoother to me.

No mate sorry. We all want cm10 to work well. No updates as of now.

did u not see the known bugs and problems in the main thread? it clearly states no GPS or Bluetooth As for battery, your doing something wrong, i got 24hrs at least from cm10.

First of all thnx all u devs..done a grt job...
But i have some memory issues with this rom
Sumtyms memry goes as lpw as 50 mb and hangs up
Using advance task killer also
Any suggstion ?

Do not use task killers. You end messing up.
I went in performance in settings in memory management and checked last 2 options. Much better performance.

task killers never did me no harm.....been using them for past 2 yrs..

It is a huge problem until you know what you are doing. For some launchers and some apps killing is not recommended. Cause sometimes killing launchers will make you restart!

That's why in launcher settings u keep in memory or ignore in task killer. This will stop it. But from time tto time a refresh of your launcher is needed.

Also if while Using advance task killer... You can Ignore in the app itself..!! :|

MIC doesn't pick up properly, and voice search will not engage.

what governor are you using in cm10? im using smartass but sometimes i find it laggy. sometimes when opening apps a not responding window will appear and i have to choose between stop and wait.
bigbear, i noticed that many users cant get to work int2ext on cm10. i for one is one of them. made so many flashes. i dont know whats the problem but im sure i followed the instructions correctly. but i tried another script and i got it working. instead of using int2ext4, i use d2ext and everything is working. thanks for your roms!

d2ext is the script which faces dalvik errors. If a few more people are struggling I'll make a video guide.

that would be nice sir. i really dont know what am i missing. the instructions were dead on and easy to follow that's why i cant figure out why its not working for me.

I'll start that tomorrow then.

The main thing people don't do is after you flash the int2ext is wipe the sd-extra in mounts and storage as instructed. This causes most users to muck it up.
I wouldn't use d2ext as it wasn't designed for any cm rom. Its known to cause serious fc's.

Hi, first thing I want to to say thanks to all the developers of custom rom for salsa!
second, i would suggest to write the tutorial in this way:
Triple wipe x2
Flash the rom
Flash the INT2EXT4
Turn back and select "mounts and storage" category,Select "format /sd-ext"
Turn back and select "advance" category, Select "reboot recovery" (maybe isn't useful)
Flash the GAPPS

third, i got the boot loop problem using INT2EXT4 (both formatting and not formatting sd-ext). using INT2EXT instead, i got first boot in 10 minutes and everything works fine. fabolous rom, thank you guys!

This is a highly debloated 4.1.2 stock based rom that I built for my personal use and decided to share here. I will make updates, but don't expect them every day.

Stock Touchwiz Launcher (with Weather/clock widget only...if you want other widgets, pull them from another rom)
OG Battery Mod with 20 battery styles to choose from. Thanks to OsamaGhareeb for his original thread. This modifies SystemUi and SecSettings apks, so if you have modified them, this will overwrite those changes. You can access battery style settings through Settings-->Display-->Battery Style
No Clock in Statusbar There are 2 different zips for this mod. If you have flashed the OG Battery Mod, be sure to choose the one with "after OG_BatteryMod" in the name.
Popup Browser - See pics below. This popup browser allows you to open a smaller browser window on top of the current application. It has a resize button that allows you to choose a different height for the window. I used the app from THIS thread and edited it to fit our tablet dimensions better. This zip will add the necessary files to the system/app directory. It should would on any rom for our device.

TIPS
Multiwindow - To get Multiwindow working, install the Xposed framework, then install the XMultiwindow module. It isn't perfect, but it does work (as seen in screenshot below).

How is the stock kernel vs blackhawk's? in regards to performance and stability? im assuming performance is better but how is stability?

Stock performs fine, but blackhawk has more features (as outlined in it's thread).

Thanks, your rom runs well and is nearly small as rocket 3.1! Will try to mod your rom to debloat a little more (changes in email and browser). Maybe we will get a cm?

There is a USB connection bug.
Every time I want to copy a file from my tab to my computer it disconnects, but on my tab it still say connected as media/camera

I did not experience any issues copying to my tab. Can you provide me a logcat from when the error happens?
Anyone else have this problem?

It is in the kernel, I flashed blackhawk kernel to fix it

How much is the available ram?Is it good for gaming?

I tested this again with stock kernel and found no issues copying to or from. Unless someone else reports a problem, I think it may have been a one time glitch on your setup.

That kind of defeats the purpose of this debloated rom, but I'll post a flashable zip later today for you.
