Memory cards are quite cheap now man buy a 4 GB memory card and is sufficient for your purposes.
And could you make your question a little more clear? I didnt understand it properly!

[Q] Which lag fix uses the EXTERNAL SD card?
with so many choices for lag fixes
i kinda lost track which project was the one that was doing the symlink and copying data to the EXTERNAL SD card.
External SD cards can easily be replaced if dead
Internal SD card is a pain in the back when it dies
at the same time this is a perfect scenario for SD cards performance test for Class 2, Class 4, Class 6+ speed tests
Class 8 and Class 10 are not widely available yet for microSD format.
if some one remember the Dev topic please link it
thanks
no body is using this lag fix?

not anymore, seems like no one cares that the lag fixes writes to the internal SD instead of the external SD
I remember using it before. it's called mimocan or something. went through a lot of trouble to format my card into ext4.
There was something on modacco about it I recall... maybe Paul did it

yeah that! paul madacco!
I can't recall the name either but in the last 2 months we've moved on from external fixes as it was annoying to create the external partition, Also speed wise it wasn't a good fix.
There is the old mimocan lag fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724251
and also this new attempt using JFS FS on the external card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812836
Modaco lag-fix was using the oneNAND fast memory. But it is internal and also is "limited" in size. ~130MB available only.
thanks i am using the internal modacco fix i guess. no problems with it.. but again limited in size although i have about 100 apps installed and still have 78 meg free. so probably could go over 200 as long as you dont have huge apps like certain games..
it seems like it is a lot less hard on the internal sd.. and maybe that is why it makes more sense to use this or one that does use the external sd for the i9000m specificially which is touchy with the internal sd card.
that's exactly my goal
since it's a known issue, it'll be better off playing with External SD, as they can be easily replaced if dead
you can also keep upgrading to newer faster models of SD cards

Hi!!
I'm new in android. I need to know if this type of micro SD can be used in my Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I don't need more than 8gb or perhaps 16gb, but Sandisk SD XC1 or SC HC1...that works with UHS-1 technology have read/write speeds that look awesome...
There are some models of Sandisk, that works at differents speeds, but all of them (SD XC1) works really faster...
That type of SD with UHS-1 technology....works on our Galaxy Ace? or we have hardware limitation to use that kind of technology?
Sorry if my english is bad...and thank you for your answers.
Martin
i use sandisk 16gb class 4 no problem its super fast.

Ok, if i go for one tipical SD i will get one class 10...
But this Sandisk UHS-1 mode XC-1 are new technology that works better and faster than a class 10...
The only problem could be with our Ace hardware that cannot work with this new technology.....thats what i don't now....and thats why i'm asking for help with this topic...
Perhaps someone has tryed these new type of SD, and can help me to decide what to buy...
Sorry again for my poor english....

Won't work! Sorry!
The ace is REALLY old now, so it is highly unlikely it will work.
Class 4 cards work just as well as class 10. We don't really have the hardware to take advantage of cards with classes higher than 6.

My GT-S6102 (Gingerbread) has bricked two of my memory cards in last two months. When the memory cards are installed for the first time, it worked well for a few days... but later, the cards were not detected. The cards have become undetectable in Windows also.
Please any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

what class and what company and is it partitioned
guys i know you all heard for this app (Ram manager pro)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartprojects.RAMOptimization&hl=en
but, i bet lot of you didnt notice a biiiiiig update...now you can swap your RAM on your internal, the fastest partition in our device (not even close to sd card class100)
but, im not sure about it, and i ask for help from developers or android wizz that know this method...
i noticed that this thing works, but, after you swap, you dont have space left...so, iv got partitioned my sd card, only to 256mb, just to check...and it really works again!
Again, but, you need to create swap file right after flashing fresh rom, so it (swap file) occupy internal memory at once! Cause, if you instal some apps, it will use sd ext, and probably go to sd card, wich doesnt make any difference in performance...
Once again, im asking for opinion of expert, to confirm this...
Im using latest jb4.2.2, and best way to check this is to play some game and to listen a music at same time : DIDNT GET FC OR ANY LAG!
tnx in advance
NOTE: don't create swap bigger than 128mb, thats our max internal
Does it really works? Because i used to swap too but it didnt make any difference in performance. The only thing i notice is my phone got hotter alot.....

Tried this last year .....the script was made by custdroid.....
Unfortunately the constant read and write on ROM is not so good for the hardware.. ...so I deprecated the project for mini also with such low internal memory I could create only 32mb swap on internal and the phone soon started yo take its toll ...you may try this but I am sharing my experience cause it may feel smooth for sometime but it reduces the life of your mini considerably cause ROM is supposed to non-volatile unlike RAM which is volatile...
