[Q]help,touch screen problem

My phone has a 2mm zone where the touchscreen does not work.
what could it be?could it be a software problem?if it's not how much does it coast to replace the touch?I'm out of warranty...

This was a known problem with custom kernels for a while. Most kernels have now rectified it, so download a newer version of your kernel, install it and see if it helps.

if you use a spica or swiftextreme kernel, i suggest you change your kernel. you can use a stock mod rom, i would recommend neoblaze kernel. i use spica kernel a few weeks ago and i have same problem with you. i change neoblaze kernel and this problem solved...

I am using spica s latest kernal and everything is fine no dead areas on the screen and great battery too. I am currently using topogigi 2 sr3 rom

I've watched your video, and it does indeed seem like your touchscreen has a dead-zone 2/3s up on the screen.
Most likely it's a hardware problem, but you can of course try to factory reset the phone first and see if it helps, but I doubt it. And no, this is not related to the kernel-problem.
In the "Optimus 2X Accessories" forum there are threads which mention screen- and digitizer-replacements, you could ask in that forum for the cheapest way to replace it outside warranty. I've no experience with that myself, sorry.

I was using Lg p990 v10f from India.. yesterday unexpectedness phone was shutdown., i try to turn on black screen of death and count.. reboot.., i try to update my phone to 2.3.4 .., its reboot was clear and now working fine., but still phone display blank only.., what can i do.., kindly tell me any solution

Since last week I have the same problem. Did you ever solved it? Will try to install the NeoBlaze kernel and afterwards the guestekrnL.

[Q] my phone reboot when usb attach to pc(mount)gingerdx 024

Hi, this is my first attempt to publish my post in here, i have a problem about my rom.. ginger dx v024 by doixanh .. .i have installed it a week ago with no problem. But now(9 april 2012).. when i attach usb cabble and click usb connected(copy file to pc)...my phone suddently reboot to gingerdx boot animation... please help me to fix this, i really appreaciate if u can help me to solve this .Sorry for my bad english(my native language was malay)

Heipp bro! its happen to me before, i guess i've figured it out, its happen when your phone apps still "Running" using your SD card, try to close all running app [app you installed to SD Card i mean] plug usb again. see how it works. or try Turn off usb debugging mode [Untick]

i have done what u have mentioned above, but i still not working(i also us task killer,switch -off my phone by take out battery many time still have that problem...,so i have made deccision to do a full wipe and flash back gingerdx , and it working.. but all apps gone lol =p)nvm but im happy right now it solved, btw i think i have encounter this problem after installing gamechih apps on my x8 (zenonia 4 money hack).. , i dont know whether it true or not..

It happened too me to
wipe cache partion and dalvik chache when u face this problem next time
it will definetly solve and also if u r using swap try to untick mounting swap partion from the app

mine was 11w18(on my phone)i know it safe to unlock but.. if it brick it cant be recover via cwm right(pc companion also no use), it can be hard brick! lol too difficult for me, im not rich nor poor so i cant wasted throw away my phone if it hard brick..lol

bricked u mentioned above hard bricked or soft bricked, if it was hard break..im still not familiar with JTIF box (modyfying circuit cip bla..bla..bla..)

well that is becoz you have some kind of cm7 theme installed which has a bug.
uninstall all the themes!!! problem ?

I do some research and i think yeah safe for you not getting hardbrick

What kernel are you running?
If it's Alfs, then flash the add-on pack...

Can you tell us a bit info regarding the problem provided with the kernel and rom you use?

I have this problem with all kernels. but now I use nAa-12 with minicm7 2.2.1.
I tested this ways but the problem does not fix:
1. format memory and change the rom and kernel
2.lock the bootloader
and I forgot say it :
touch screen is good for 2 or 3 hours after this while it works badly and it become ok when I reboot the phone but after 2 hours again has problem

my friend I tested that way but the problem does not fix.
Is it an hardware problem ?

Maybe the device got some water or moisture into it.
Open it & try blowing thru it.
Or, it might be the kernel prob, but the possibility is low, according to me.
And also, clean the mobile once, dust or some other crap..

[Q] TouchScreen problem

Hallo,
I own a Nexus 1,with major issues with the touchscreen. It is almost new, but it is out of warranty (rooted). I installed a new rom (MIUI v4 2.5.25), and hoped it would get better, but it didn't. 8 times out of 10, the touchscreen is not responding.
Does anyone knows if this can be fixed with another rom (above v.4.0.4) or i have to fit a new digitizer?

What kinda problems do you have? Is it responsive at least a few times or is it unresponsive all the time?
Were the problems present even before the new ROM was flashed?

I had this problem before flashing/installing anything. Then i installed MIUI v4 2.5.25, the problem was there....i did another format, reinstall MIUI v4 2.5.25, there was no problem....for 24 hours at least...
Then today the same problem, i just can't get the screen unlocked!!!! The screen is not responding at all....another format, reinstall the same rom....:crying:...nothing!!! The screen is not responding at all!!!
Did i do something wrong while flashing, should i change the digitizer , can anybody suggest anything?

Hmm.. I don't think MIUI 2.5.25 v4 will run on your ROM with stock HBOOT (though I am not very sure).
Why don't you flash another stable GB rom like CM 7.2 to see if that works?

i think the problem is wid ur digitizer. i had the same issue lyk urs before a month. my touch didnt get registered most of the tyms. it only works occassionally. i tried wiping n flashin. but no use. they work only for a short tym. i changed the digitizer. now all is well

I just replaced the old sd card with a SanDisk MicroSD HC 8gb,flashed CM 7.2....nothing...I used BlackRose to change HBOOT to 220mb, to see if it works...nothing....:crying:
DIGITIZER is ****y....will change it in the coming weeks...it only worked for 2 weeks...

i think they are available in india. in chennai it costs arnd inr1500. but i swapped my digitizer from my other n1, which died some 6 months back...

[Q] Xperia V - SOD, software or hardware?

Hi,
do we know if the SOD problems are software or hardware related? ( Was gonna link to the SOD thread at Sony, but cant because of few posts. But google "Xperia V random freeze in standby" and your there..)
I am about to send my phone in for service, but since this will propably take a couple of weeks im hoping a software fix would be released.

should be software problem.
if u were to flash a custom rom, the number of SOD is very little, or dont have.

Anyone that can confirm that SOD problems disappeared on custom rom?
And if so, which rom?

I set the minimal CPU speed to 486 MHz and it helps.

So you had SOD, set min cpu and it helped?
Which firmware version?
How frequent was the SOD?
How long without?

I use the latest JB rom. I got 1~2 SoD per day before minimal CPU setting change. Now it stands well for more than two days without SoD. The Wifi is on. Maybe my good luck but worth trying.

with Wifi off and stock ROM, I'm now on 9 days without SoD.
Though my old Ion on the older ROM has never rebooted even once...

Wifi of is not an option. Like a sportscar without an engine, but nice to get solid indications that WiFi actual is the problem. Seems like it would be fixable by software then, if only Sony care to take action.

From my experience using Xperia V Stock ROM Singapore FTF Jelly Bean for 3 weeks, I must say that it is the best ROM I ever used for my Xperia V. Better than my stock ROM Malaysia ICS version. Give it a try and feel it.

I don't have any problem regarding SOD with my Malaysia stock ROM ICS. But battery drains really fast and really hot even I do not use it (standby mode). Solution: Flash Singapore Stock ROM JB and walla

This thread is about the SOD( "Sleep of Death") problems that some users have experienced on their Xperia V.
With the purpose of figuring out if this is a hardware( need to get phone replaced) or software( can be fixed by update).
So if you never had any issues with the SOD on your phone, on either ICS or JB, the information about which rom you think is the best do not help with the question asked in this thread. Please read before posting...

I just give my opinion. If this method helped other users fixing their SOD, who knows. I suggested to my friend that have SOD problem (Stock ICS Malaysia) to flash his Xperia V with Stock ROM Singapore, and he has no problem with SOD until now (a week of usage).
Just give it a try.

Have you tried a factory reset? When I had this issue on my Xperia TL, (before I rooted it and installed XperimenT) I uninstalled a ton of apps and disabled the ATT apps. It was doing the SOD every night. I would go through any recent apps you've installed and delete/disable them. If that doesn't work do a factory reset and _slowly_ reinstall apps. I think this is a case where something is interfering with Sony's stock firmware.

for those still having SOD, maybe u can try this. not sure it helps or not. because before i install jellybean, i review the code in build.prop first. so that is why it didnt happen on me for 2 weeks. well, i test it out yesterday.
use either ES file explorer or Root explorer, go to system -> build.prop.
find this line dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m, put a # in front of it to disable this code.
it could be because there is another similar code, thus conflict. u can find another similar line at the bottom of build.prop.
