[Q] Transfer data from Galaxy Nexus to Xperia V - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Just bought an LT25i, need to transfer the following data from the Nexus to my new LT25i Xperia V.
The Nexus has no sdcard slot so I have to backup to my pc.
Please tell me how to transfer the following data to my LT25i:
1. Seleted user apps and the apps external data, yes with market links.
2. sms, contacts

Use a third party so from the market. Airdroid, Titanium Backup, myphoneexplorer or sms backup are a few examples of them.
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?

Thanks but can you give me more detail?
I am facing the following difficulties:
1. The Nexus has no sdcard slot and the internal memory is out of space, need to backup the data to my PC.
2. Do I need to root the LT25i? Now sure how to do that to my phone.

All of those apps either use storage on your PC or on your google account. Install them and follow the instructions.
As far as I know only titanium backup requires root access, the others do not.
There is no need for a SDcard as all data is transfered via wifi, usb cable, bluetooth or 3g....

Titanium backup can, not sure about airdroid.
However, if you have a recovery installed make a nandroid and you can try to restore the data partion on the new phone, however, often restoring those kind of settings will make the phone buggy,
As for market links, just restore the apps using titanium or airdroid, or myphoneexplorer or any of the vast other apps that do this and then google play will automatically pick up the links....
Please just have a go at doing it, then ask questions about any problems

the Xperia V can't even root how can I restore app+data and market links with Titanium backup??

once you have root, you can flash another FTF and follow the instructions to keep root.
Please have a go at doing this first before posting again, you are asking questions that you may find the answer to yourself if you try it.
You will not lose any data ob your old phone so why not just try any of the numerous solutions I have offered and then ask about issues.

[Q] Trouble with "My backup pro"

I would like to restore my applications off of some backup files created by my backup pro, my issue is that I cannot restore them because it says that SD is either full or to disconnect from PC and make sure that the SD is mounted correctly.
If anyone has any alternate methods of restoring APK and data files or help they can provide that will be greatly appreciated. I will be searching the forums until then.
I installed .APK files but would like to restore all data as well, I copied all files from phone to PC can I just drag and drop data and all should be good?
I have SGS Captivate rooted with Corn Kernel v7.06

You might have to suck it up and buy tibu add well. I had bought system tuner pro (which is good) after getting on here I realized that I should get tibu.

That means there is a problem with your sd card. The error message isn't very detailed, but that's what it is, short of your sd card being full.
The program needs cache space to unzip the backup and such.
I have used my backup pro over tibu and wouldn't change that. My backup pro freezes apps, backs up apks and data either separately or in one shot and also backs up favs,mms/sms, calendar, etc....
The only thing I use tibu for is to remove system apps.

Thanks for all of your responses, much appreciated. If that is the case "there is a problem with your sd card" then how am I to test that theory? like how can I figure out if there is something wrong with my SD and by SD you mean my external SD??

TiBu will do that too. Plus wifi connections, bt pairings, move apps to sd, or vice versa. And do it quicker than My Backup.

Both Titanium Backup and My Backup have free versions (as do many apps). Try the free versions first before jumping in with the paid version. I don't have problems with My Backup (I use the Root version).

True, titanium does offer a free version. However in order to unlock its true power, you need the paid version. My Backup Root is pretty good. I used to use it before i bought TiBu. Buy TiBu is,imo, the better of the two.

Atrix 2 and Atrix HD apps

I have been using Atrix 2 and just bought Atrix HD. I want to transfer some of my apps and backed-up data from Atrix 2 to HD. I've backed-up all data to SD card from 2 and now I can't restore any of those data to HD from same SD card. When I browse the SD card with ASTRO, I don't see any of backed-up data from Atrix 2. Anyone know whta's going on....?
Please help.....
thanks
Try backing up one level and going into "external1" - that's the external sd card.

How do I do that?
You might need a different file explorer if Astro can't see the root directory /.
You need /mnt/external1/ for the actual microSD.

If you downloaded all your apps from market, all you have to do is login to your google account from the play store and it will start downloading and re installing all your apps

Thanks for that advice :good: but it’s not the apps that I need to transfer… I need to transfer data on apps. i.e. msecure, I have all these login information for different websites, when I do “restore from SD” it does not see any of my backed up data.
Also, does anyone use apps called ES Security Manager or Seal? How can I get any of these apps to lock specific apps I need. Does the phone has to be rooted for these apps to work?
Thanks in advance….

I can only comment on mSecure. I use the Dropbox sync, using the same password on each device, to keep my devices all synced with the same data.
If the apps don't give you an option to change storage location, then we're out of luck since Moto has once again changed the main storage path.

I think app data is fine. I've always been told that it's system data that you don't want to backup and restore.

Manually reinstalled backed up apps?

Hi all, I upgraded from a flashed to near death sensation at the weekend. I can't root etc at the moment as i'm without broadband. So my question is getting my titanium backed-up apps onto the One. I know I can get the apk files out of the back-ups but what about the saved data etc?

You can copy the titanium backup map to the storage of your one. Then let titanium backup scan the device and your backups should be there to restore.

I then unlocked my bootloader, this is all on .290 firmware
In the middle of restoring, it reboots.
any ideas? I still have the .semc-fullbackup folder on my SD card, is there any way i can extract those or something? they are not APK's and sony PC companion software saves stuff as one big dbk file so i couldnbt drag it into there... any help would be much appreciated... my messages are very much needed!

i'm guessing sony back and restore app only works with locked bootloader?
try a third party app from playstore, there are some who don't require root.

try doing a selective restore to get back stuff like contacts and sms etc, at least you will have the important stuff, then just re-install all your apps - settings may also restore some stuff
Backup and restore does not backup your homepage folders and stuff like that, I have an SD card which I use for all my music pics videos and files, you can also copy the contents of your internal SD card/drive to a computer as a backup of those
You can also export your contacts as a VCF to your PC
Unfortunately I can't rely on backups working all the time especially if you are trying to restore a backup to a new version of FW, so I keep and hour a week and do a lot of stuff manually
PC Companion is the best option if trying to restore to newer devices or FW/OS it can often do a conversion on the fly
I've never tried any 3rd party backup app but I'd assume they are more flexible

Maybe try downgrading back to the firmware on which you did the backup and see if the restore function works. If it does restore your data and try to get a backup using Titanium Backup or other software.
Unfortunately I tried that already, seems like a part of the restorenis corrupt? This is really odd. Anyone know how to take data out of the backups?

unfortunately not, I assume you've never done a backup using PCC
There might be some software out there that can extract the contents of the backup or there might be an update to the software at some point if it's not working properly
I was going to suggest rolling back to a previous firmware you never know, always keep a backup using PCC
Nah I didn't start messing with pc companion until my restore didn't work and I was looking for new ways to extract my backup but I guess they're in different formats. I'll keep looking, later I'll open the conversations backup with wordpad and see whats in there... its 50mB though...

Backing up apps

I am coming from Samsung. Had Galaxys since day one. Obviously, they have external sd slots and this does not. My question is, is there a program like titanium backup or Helium to backup straight to computer?
When we flash new ROMs, all of that info is erased in full wipe, correct? Is there a way to save only the TB or Helium data? I used the external sd to store that data until full wipe and flashing of new ROM was complete.
Thanks for any input.
You don't need a external SD slot. Similar to your galaxy, there is internal storage on your phone.
No, wiping does not wipe your internal storage unless you tell it to. By default it does not wipe the internal storage.
All files and whatnot will not be removed or moved.

Not to my knowledge but I know you can use Titanium Backup and sync your backups to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox) or manually sync your backups with your desktop.
