For those who use scripts in browsers this will be very useful
1- Install Opera Mobile Addons Capabilities
2- Open opera mobile and type opera:config in address bar
3- The second line will say "find", click in there and type User JavaScript
4- Check User JavaScript and User JavaScript on HTTPS
5- In User JavaScript File, type the script folder path (ex. /sdcard/download/)
6- Click on save and restart the opera browser, when you open again it will load all script in the path you define
I have tested many script from here many works like a charm

Opera Mobile Addons Capabilities
Opera Mobile version with Addons Capabilities, just go to addons.opera.com and downlads which you prefer
Wow these look extremely useful, and chance they work on Opera Mini?
At first I thought someone found a way to use greasemonkey scripts on stock browser or Dolphin/Boat/similar. Got a little dissapointed that it's only for Opera Mobile. Nice tutorial though, I'm sure it'll be useful to many (and to me possibly, if I ever decide to make a switch).
its for Opera Mobile, not Mini...

Sorry, my bad. Edited.
Either way, I'm not using either so...

Apologies for starting another thread on this browser.
I had installed a version of Opera Mobile which I liked very much however, there was no option for me to tell it that I wanted PIE to be the default browser. The reason I need PIE to be the default browser is that I have a number of programmes the use PIE that screw up with Opera.
I have had a good look around on here and it would seem that there are several versions, it got me all a bit lost as I don't want to keep installing and uninstalling.
Plus, I'm not sure which is best Mini or Mobile? Finally, how do I reset the file associations for web files eg. *.xml to be associated with PIE?
Any help would be mucho appreciated.
Anyone? Mini or Mobile?
For Full Browsing experience: Mobile
For limited bandwidth (or expensive data plan): Mini.
I don't quite care which version of Mobile, as I trust the chef' of my ROM cooked the most useful (and stable) one.
Thanks for the info. Have downloaded the latest Mobile version from Opera's website, all seems ok so far....
It is a bit un-intuitive as far as what you must do to get .XML/.HTML/Help files to open correctly again - here is the process:
I use the Total Commander File Explorer, which upon opening the context menu of a file and selecting properties, will allow you to select a program association for that file type. I'm sure it can be done in other programs as well, but the bottom line is that you want to change the program to:
iexplore.exe
And set the following as parameters:
file:%1
and (this being the part that am somewhat uncertain as to why it is necessary... but it IS) set the icon file to:
browsres.dll
with the Icon Index set to:
-6703
That should do it.

hello, i have a small problem, after trying various registry changes etc for changing the default browser to Opera 9.5 (i have the first firmware release of x1 at moment, will change it to r3 when i have some time) i succeded to change the default browser when i click links around using XperiaTweak2...
I use my x1 a LOT with the gmail java application, is way more confortable that any other way for using my gmail account and i use it as only email, well, the problem is that even if the default browser is set to opera and works if i click links around it does not work when i click a link in the Java app for Gmail... i have tryed to use gmail from opera but with this java app is way faster and more confortable...
any idea on how i can manage to force this damn thing to open the links i click in the Gmail Java app with Opera and not with IE?
I attach here the java installer since for the x1 installing from website don't work for some reasons...
I am glad that someone thought to post this. I have been fighting this issue with my java gmail app on windows mobile for nearly a year. I had to go back to version 1.5.0.1193 instead of using the updated 2.0.6 version because in the newer version when I click on a link it locks up my entire phone and I have to do a soft reset to get the phone back to normal. In version 1.5.0.1193 I get this message immediately after I click on a link "http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http%3A%2F%www.ebay.com" with a question asking me if I want to open this URL with a yes or no option. In this case I was just clicking on a link to take me to ebay's main website page. If I click "Yes" then IE Mobile opens (BLAH!) and it inserts "http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http%3A%2F%www.ebay.com" in the address bar in IE Mobile and all I get is the general "The page cannot be found" error message. There are no options under "Settings" to change the default browser or how it inserts the links in the address bar. So, I have been puzzled about this for a really long time and I thought I was the only one that was bothered by this. If there are any good programmers out there that understand Java please help us with this.
just install R3A, i found out that it makes Opera the default browser for everything
EDIT: You may also find the new beta Opera Browser 9.7 useful as it has a "Set Opera as default browser" option
Hi,
I need help ...
I just installed SKTools 3.1.12, and I used "Clean Up" tool ...
The SKTool cleaned up suppose to be junks, temporary, or bad shortcuts ...
But now, my link to Java (Esmeretec Jbed) is missing.
Do you know how to recreate it?
I used to have "Java" icon somewhere in the "Programs" or "Settings", which I can click to start Opera Mini 4.2.
Thanks
when i view the properties of the "Java" link file with resco explorer, the shortcut points to:
"\Windows\jbed.exe"?MPI_ProgramIcons.dll,-121
note that this is on my current ROM (PDA Corner Ultimate X2.V8). also, i can gather that for the above to work, there must be a file called "jbed.exe" in your windows folder and another file called "MPI_ProgramIcons.dll". can't decipher much more than that but perhaps someone else can
on a side note, i'm curious why you are using opera MINI when opera MOBILE is available for windows mobile and it is oh so much better! for one thing, it doesn't need java (i.e. its a native application) and it has a desktop rendering mode which works pretty well! give it a shot!
I tried to create .lnk file using my PC, content:
"\Windows\jbed.exe"?MPI_ProgramIcons.dll,-121
And I placed it in \Windows\Programs\
It does not work.
About Opera Mobile, it is slow ... unfortunately.
And I installed 9.7, but the Turbo mode setting cannot be saved permanently:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4878752&postcount=798
Fixed!
I used Total Commander, copied something.lnk to Java.lnk.
Edit the Shortcut to the above content.
Thanks ASCIIker!
Just a little info:
Get Opera Mobile from the source Opera Mobile website and the Turbo Mode works just not when dowloading you have to change setting refresh page.
Mind you i still use Mini as it's just soooo fast
Re: The bit in shortcut @ end after and inc ? points to a .dll and the no. of the resource so as to use custom start menu icons.
“Extensions come to Opera Mobile”
So I decided to do a search today to see if there was a way to enable extensions on Opera Mobile. In a stroke of luck, I just happened to find a post made today in the Opera dev site that has a link to a build of Opera Mobile 12 with support for extensions.
It has been working well on my Motorola Xoom 4G.
Link to apk: http://www.opera.com/download/get.pl?id=34585&sub=true¬hanks=yes&location=360
Link to the article: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/extensions-opera-mobile-labs/
Tips:
To transfer and back up your Opera bookmarks without the need of Opera Link:
Requirements: Must be rooted!
Transfer Bookmarks from Opera Mobile 12 to Opera Mobile 12 w/Extension:
Use Rootexplorer to copy the “all” file from “/data/data/com.opera.browser/opera/etc/2/” to “/data/data/com.opera.browser.extensions/opera/etc/2/”
Backup Bookmarks from Opera Mobile 12 or Opera Mobile 12 w/Extension:
Use Rootexplorer to copy the “all” file from “/data/data/com.opera.browser/opera/etc/2/” or “/data/data/com.opera.browser.extensions/opera/etc/2/” to a desired location on you Sd Card of eternal storage.
Extra:
Here is a list of extensions that I have installed to improve my browsing experience.
Ghostery: block scripts from companies that you don't trust, delete local shared objects, and even block images and iframes.
WOT: shows you which websites people trust for safe surfing, shopping and searching on the web.
NoAds: Extension blocks external scripts, specific global script functions and variables, elements of a page
ContentBlockHelper (English): block any elements by CSS selector rules and more automatically.
SaveFrom.net helper: Helps you to download files.
Further Customization:

(Ads Blocking section is not needed if you use the ContentBlockHelper Extention)
4G Xoom + Team EOS ICS nightlies = WIN
ive seem alot of people asking devs to mirror stuff other then MF, they say they cant get into it from their phone.
This is
TRY loading the page as a http socket /desktop View
for example download opera mini i know it supports it, or Dolphin HD users, download desktop view plugin to load all pages as you would normally see em on a computer, not gonna mention chrome beta cuz it aint supported by our phone

but it is supported, all you need to do is install this rom that works very fine to be a nightly and you are good to go 'cause it's based on ICS 4.0.4 there is only two mood killers right now camera an mobile data are still waiting to be enabled, but I'm prepare to make it my daily use rom, I'll just wait 'till the data issue is solve, I even dust off my Cyber-shot to take it with me for as long as we have no camera,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650537
that was the rom i was using, mediafire was not working on mobile for at least 5 hours
Or another thing you could do is to type in the address bar: about:debug (type it exactly as I wrote it here) and then go to settings (you'll see a lot of new options) and then scroll al the way down to UAString. There you will find the following options:
Android
Desktop
iPhone
iPad
Froyo-N1
These may vary depending on the ROM you have, but when I download from mediafire I usually use Desktop or iPad mode. After this all you have to do is refresh.
This will save you the hassle of downloading a new browser and it's plug-ins.
Hope I helped you.

Hi, this is my solution, the way I have been surfing 100% like desktop last months.
Open this post with your phone, and copy this user agent string:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/536.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/20.0.1092.0 Safari/536.6

Now, you need to open the hidden menu (3845#*970#) and go to Browser Utility.
Do the following steps:
1- Edit UAProfile. Delete all the text and save.
2- Enable/disable X-wap-profile. Touch so its says "ua-profile is 0"
3- Edit UAString. Delete all and paste the string you copied before, and save
4- Enable/Disable Test UAString. Touch to set enabled.
Set all your browser to desktop mode and reboot.
Now all the internet sites will think you're using chrome 20 in windows 7
Opera users:
This wont fix it for you.
You need to type this in the address bar:
about:config
Now go all down to the "User Prefs" settings.
Move down until you see "Custom User-Agent"
Paste here the same string you copied before.
Go to the end of page and touch Save.
Kill opera or reboot, logically you need to first set the opera in desktop mode (in advanced settings).
In this way I have Opera, Dolphin and the stock browser surfing with desktop chrome user agent.
Enjoy!

Yeah, it will slow down in some webs, especially in those with ads, so lots of gifs, banners everywhere...but for that you can use "ADaway" from market and block most of the ads... the best is to configure plugins to load on touch, else if you open few tabs all will load and run any embedded flash showing ads or whatever, really slowing down everything.
I surf pretty fast in most of sites, considering that it is a mobile device
For my mediafire works good again in the stock browser
