[Guide] How to install Cronmod on Simplicity v3.5 SGS2 Edition - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

Alright, many people failed to install cronmod on Simplicity v3.5 SGS2 Edition ROM by abhi922, i'm gonna try to explain how to make it work. As you can see the step 17 is mount data. Why did you reboot system? Maybe the installation aborted because you didnt mount data & mount system as abhi922 instructed. If you didnt found mount data or mount system option in cwm, maybe youre using old cwm. Try using cwm from mindcr rom thread.

[Q] DT's a2sd on cm7

Hey guys, I just recently switched from Galaxy Y to Galaxy Mini and I flashed cm7 last night. How can I use DT's a2sd on cm7? and anyone have the zip cuz the link from DT's is broken. Thanks.
Try s2e (simple2extension)
search for it in the market, it's free
only works on cm7 roms
works as well as dt's a2sd
you can use rom manager to partition your sd card
just don't move app data to sd, that will slow your phone way down
Thats what I'm using right now, I'm just used to DT's. Thanks bro.

[Q] why i cant use S2E with Democracy rom?

everytime that i use S2E the phone restart everything good but when i have to install an .apk file the phone restart itself and when i flash a2sdgui script the phone does not start :S what i have to do? thx... and sorry for my english
You could try something else.
What you will need: root, ROM with initd folder (like democracy), sd card (class 4 or better) with ext partition
1. Download this: http://d-h.st/1zz and put it on the root of your sd card so you can flash it.
2. Reflash the ROM of your choice (after full wipe)
3. Reboot and wait for the sd card check to finish
4. Reboot to recovery and mount data, system, and sd ext
5. Flash downloaded file (cronmod d2ext+)
6. Reboot system now
7. If you have to flash gapps or anything else you can do it now (after sd card is finished loading and error checking.)
8. Never worry about internal memory errors again! Don't worry about moving apps, linking apps, or anything, just enjoy your ace.

[Q] Miui ROM?

Right, ive rooted my note, and im looking for an iPhone type Miui theme rom, ive looked at how to install the new rom and i have no idea what to do, it says that i cant flash on stock ICS ROM, currently running 4.0.1 atm, and it also says something about Aroma Installer. i am a big newb when it comes to this, i dont wanna f**k my phone up so can someone help me and tell me what to do please?
Firstly remove the stock kernel, thats what it is referring to, So flash something safe like Philz or Hydracore.
And also, Aroma installer is something that will appear when flashing via CWM, it is a neat feature which allows you to pick and choose optional extras to install, or to remove certain things from installing.
Once it appears just follow the instructions, its simple really.
when i rooted it i changed to franko kernel? what do i need to flash Miui ROM Vengeance Note v2_4-08 09 2012? im downloading that atm
Go with something popular like philz or hydracore, it will be overwritten once the ROM installs anyway.
Make sure to do the wipes (if necessary)
so i install that kernel, then flash the rom using cwm and it says to do a wipe, how do i wipe it?
In recovery there are several options, you will need to wipe data / Factory reset, then wipe cache, then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
You may also need to format /system and /preload, you will find these under the mounts and storage menu

i still have no idea what to do.. all i know is when doing a new rom install in from sd card is all i know, i need an easy to understand explaination lol because what you're saying is just letters to me, if you can tell me how to do it because i dont know what im doing..
Okay, so you're completely stock now right? If so, head over to original android development section and download either philz kernel for your version (find this in settings > about phone) or hydracore kernel (this needs to be flashed with odin unless you are already rooted with Cwm recovery, if not just use philz)
Once downloaded place on your internal sd card, power the phone off, hold volume up + home + power all at once until you enter recovery.
Now select apply update from sd card or update . zip (can't remember which one) once flashed do the same procedure again, this time you will notice how different it is.
Now either mount usb storage in recovery (under mounts and storage) or reboot the phone to use mtp / mass storage.
Place MIUI rom in your internal sd card, reboot into recovery, select wipe data / Factory reset (will remove all apps and data, not media, so backup what's important before hand)
Now select wipe cache, then go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache.
Now go to install zip from sd card, then choose zip from internal sd card, find the MIUI rom and flash it.
Once done, reboot and wait upto 10mins for it to boot properly.
Double check to MIUI thread for install instructions as you may need to format system and preload too when performing the full wipe in recovery.

oh my word...you typed all this from your phone? hoped you were using a bluetooth keyboard...
good luck paul on your install
thanks azz for typing this up..definitely bookmark worthy.

[Q]: Problem flashing Simplicity v3.5 + (Guide) Internal Memory + lastet Kernel

I know many threads are already handling the one or the other problem.
But I tried to follow all the recommended steps of several guides and instructions.
Most of the parts also worked, but now I got stuck which results in always bricking the phone.
What I want:
Transfer from a Stock ROM (S5830i_XXLD3_S5830iDBTLD2_S5830iXXLD2 Germany)
towards Simplicity v3.5 SG2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041264
including newest Rafael Kernel (2.6.35-7) #201212101860 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818830
and using this script/guide in order to use a second partition of my sd card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082465
I already was at one point where Simplicity v3.5 was running on the phone and the script for increasing internal memory was almost working
(it was strange because even though the size of 2nd partititon (sdext2) was increasing after an app installation, the size of the internal memory was also increasing.
Someone said I should install the latest kernel, result = bricked phone.
Now I got several recommendations that I strictly have to follow the order of the instructions, what i always did.
Now here the order/sequence of the guides how i should operate and then I tell u what worked and where it stopped. Actually everything worked until I was about to flash the kernel.
Sequence:
Flash back to Stock Rom using Odin 1.85
Stock rom fully loaded and no problems
Red color are the explainations by me, so you can see what i did and how i used the guides.
CWM 5.0.2.6
Using this guide for the internal memory/sd-card solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2082465
1) Open CWM Recovery
2) Go to "Advanced"
3) Select "Partition SD Card"
4) Choose your SD-ext size (I have 16GB, that is why I chose 2048MB in CWM)
5) Select "0M" Swap.
6) Wait for the procces finish.
7) Reboot.
New step, forgot to root the phone before, so I have to put update.zip on SD-card and flash it in CWM
used from this source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
reboot --> SuperUser
8) Now download Link2SD from Playstore.
9) Open Link2SD you will be prompted to choose between ext2, ext3, ext4 or FAT32.
10) First , Choose ext2. <-- this works for me (a little bit strange, because some other people said CWM usually creates ext3 2nd partition
11) It will say mount script created. Reboot your phone now.
12) Open link2sd and if the message doesn’t show up, you succeded.
13) Go to Link2sd>Settings>check the autolink.
So first sequence finished.
15) Now your SD Card is formated .
16) Place the CronMod Script on your SD Card ( data2ext-fixed file ) <--- i assume the author just means the data2ext-fixed file from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955422 <-- the other means the other versions lag and not support GPS
17) Open CWM again
18) Format /data /sd-ext /system
19) Mount /system
20) Flash custom rom
Now here I use the guide from Simplicity thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041264
2) Boot in Recovery. (HOME+VOLUME UP+POWER).
3) Wipe data/reset, Wipe cache partition.
4) Then go to advanced & wipe Dalvik cache , wipe battery stats...
5) mount system/data in mount & storage menu of cwm
6) Then choose zip from sdcard & Flash. flash the custom ROM Simplicity v.3.5 SG2
Now another user "kewkie" helped me, because I was asking about this problem in the Simplicity thread, about the order sequence for installing the rom and the kernel. He said I should first flash the custom rom and then directly without a reboot the kernel and the modules and then reboot
Kernel and modules are taken from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818830
in this thread i selected <<< Custom Kernel and Modules >>> from this source
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=68fa...#cid=68FAEF65039E2178&id=68FAEF65039E2178!287
After flashing kernel and then modules (without problem) i restart the phone
I also tried to do the steps above and also include the usual step from the "increase internal memory guide" before the restart and then reboot the phone, these steps would include the following:
21) Remount /system
22) Flash "data2ext-fixed" script.
23) Reboot
And now here is the problem, it is bricked.
So i have to do everything again.
I can't flash the Kernel before applying the custom rom, because then the custom rom (which use stock kernel) will override rafael kernel.
So it is a quite complex idea.
U ask why I want to apply the latest kernel?
First of all, shouldn't it help to reduce battery power (maybe I also got it wrong)
but on the other side, some people mentioned the problem with the increasing memory size even though I did all steps of the guides has to do with the fact that I don't have the most recent kernel.
I've done several steps of those guides already several times and I get kind of tired doing it again and again without success.
Everything was working, I could complete all steps (without the kernel update) without any problem, but then the internal memory problem would not be solved, because it is still increasing.
If someone is not believing that the internal memory is increasing even though I made all these steps, I wrote it down in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36371414&postcount=23
Hope someone can help me, I'm really desperate.

7) Reboot.
New step, forgot to root the phone before, so I have to put update.zip on SD-card and flash it in CWM
used from this source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
reboot --> SuperUser

After you link an application over have a look using your file manager or whatever where its located, if it says phone then its on your 2nd partition, unless of course it is actually on your phone :silly:
link2sd does not move data only the apk and cache and some other stuff so your phones memory should have some stuff on it
then restart your phone so the memory counter will refresh and give you an accurate reading of your internal memory
your phone memory should be increasing as more apps are being linked to your 2nd partition....
= If your phones working why would you flash to the latest kernel if it crashes it (unless of course you are seriously low on memory)
==If ive even remotely helped or looked as if i know what im talking about lol dont forget to "Thank" me
Problem solved, thread can be closed or deleted
Solved the problem, thanks to everybody who helped (from various other threads).

[Q] Lost CWM, help installing a new ROM.

Hey guys, first of all, just let me say, thanks for reading.
Here is the thing, I got my note a while back and rooted and installed CM 10 at the time, then I just kept using its update feature to keep up to date. I did that almost a year ago and never came back to XDA Devs. So im pretty rusty on procedures and that kind of stuff.
I was looking into installing a new ROM, one that has the S-Note, S-Memo and S-Pen drawing apps, and If I'm not mistaken, this one does:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970626
I know how to install a new ROM, but when I reboot my phone I cant access CWM recovery to install from SD card.
So my question is: What would I need to do, to get back CWM so I can install the previously mentioned ROM, if I'm running the latest nightly of CM?
Thank you in advance for your time!
Sounds like you need to do a full wipe and flash a ROM with a kernel that has cwm. Via a computer
You can flash the hydracore kernel via PC ODIN or mobile ODIN should also work. Better do a full wipe and flash with PC ODIN.
Thanks guys!
Would asking for a link to the relevant and recommended tutorials be too much?
Help Installing New ROM
Hey guys, first of all, just let me say, thanks for reading.
I am a noob wanting to install custom rom my Galaxy Note N 7000
Android version : 4.0.4
Baseband version : N7000XXLRK
Kernal version : 3.0.15 - N7000XXLRK-CL811902
I was earlier planning to factory reset my Note and then install the latest firmware by Samsung from Kies
So I hard reset my Galaxy Note.
But I had some trouble downloading the update using Kies, that's when I decided to install custom ROM.
So the following are the details I have collected over my research on how to install Custom ROM on my Galaxy Note.
I am posting this thread because I want to check, if I have gathered the right information over my search
Please reply with the steps I have to remove or steps I have to add.
1. Have to root my phone and install a Safe Kernel.
Charge the battery to 100%
Then put my Phone in Debugging Mode
I have checked this thread [Beginners Guide]How to root Samsung Galaxy Note for rooting details and found 3 links for my kernel on the thread
[03.06.2013][PhilZ-cwm6][n7000] v5.06.1 Safe Stock Kernel+CWM6+Root+exFAT+ext4-LT6
http://d-h.st/SZ2 - Filename: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.1
http://d-h.st/NFY - Filename: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-2.7
http://d-h.st/b5M - Filename: PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-2.5
I guess PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.1 is the latest kernel for my phone from the version details.
Please confirm if I was right in choosing the kernel.
- Copy downloaded file to Ext SD card to root directory
- Reboot into recovery (vol up+Home+power)
- Select install(update) zip from ext SD card
- Select PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.1-signed.zip' which I copied to Ext card
- Reboot device
Questions???
---> Does root directory mean I have to copy the files to external SD card when its just open?
---> How can I check if my phone is successfully rooted?
2. Backup my Phone’s IMEI
-Install Root Browser from google store
-Copy efs folder to external SD Card storage and then to my computer
3. Backup the Complete ROM
- Reboot into recovery (vol up+Home+power)
- Scroll down to the “backup and restore” option and backup the ROM to external storage using the option “backup to external sdcard” option.
Question???
---> Can I save this backup to my computer so that I can delete the back up and save space on the external SD?
4. Installing Custom ROM
I am planning to install [AOSPA 4.2.2] PARANOIDANDROID 3.60 (June 11)
- Download the latest ROM pa_n7000-3.60-11JUN2013-053741.zip using the link
- Download the latest Gapps pa_gapps-full-4.2-20130615-signed.zip from the link
- Copy ROM and Gapps to Internal SD card
- Reboot into recovery (vol up+Home+power)
- Select "wipe data/factory reset"
- Select "wipe cache partition"
- Go to advanced and select “wipe dalvik cache” and “wipe battery stats”
- Go to mounts and storage and ”format system”
- Return back to the main menu and select “install zip" and choose zip from Internal sd card” and select the ROM
- Return back to the main menu and select “install zip" and choose zip from Internal sd card” and select the Gapps
- Select "wipe cache partition"
- Go to advanced and select “wipe dalvik cache”
- Finally, go back to the main menu in Recovery and select ”reboot system now”.
Questions???
---> Doesn't wiping all the data remove the ROM and Gapps we have copied to the Internal SD card?
---> Is it really the Internal SD card where I have to copy ROM and Gapps?
---> Do I really have to wipe cache after installing ROM and Gapps?
---> After I successfully install the custom ROM how will I receive the future updates?
Thanks in advance
Hey mate, lotta questions you got there!
Firstly, you copy the PhilZ kernel .zip to your SD card and then go to recovery and flash it. You go to recovery, you'll have an option, flash .zip from SD card.
To check the root, you'll have superuser in your app drawer after you restart.
The backup you're talking about here is the nandroid backup, yes you can copy the folder to the PC later.
And when you wipe data, you don't lose your documents on the internal SD, the ROM and gapps will be still there, and you can copy the ROM and gapps .zip files to SD card too.
Yes wiping cache before flashing tje ROM is advisable. And once you root the phone, you won't get access to future updates by samsung officially, but you'll have the stock based custom ROMs on xda which solves that problem, else you can flash the official firmware anytime and update.
Hit thanks if this helped, guess it did
