For the p990 we have the v3 dual boot....
Not sure it is applicable on your device
But even there both have to be on the same boot loader...either the old one or the new one one.....
Make a backup and try...but don't blame me or others

What are the differences in rooting, roms, etc.? Can all directions be followed for the O2x to root the G2x and install custom ROMs?
The root should work fine, CWM needs to be updated, so don't use that

As said, rooting works as on the O2X. CWM Recovery shouldnt be flashed now, since the partition layout is different and Paul has to sort that out.
Installing O2X custom roms shouldnt work correctly since the G2X and O2X have different basebands. The custom rom has to support the used baseband by using the correct RIL. In time G2X custom roms will be released .

in a subforum i hope :S
Im sure ive read somewhere that they are going to make the partition layout the same or something, so there wont be any need for seperate roms

They probably do need a seperate rom, because of the different baseband and most likely ril.

Cheers for correcting me! good point read that the roms need to support the baseband also! perhaps a rom could support multiple basebands?
I think O2x and g2x can share roms. The devs will just have to tweak a little to make it work on the other. Am i right or wrong?
Do you guys expect the vanilla Android rom from G2x to be released for the O2x as well?
Between G2X and O2X, which one have higher benchmark on stock rom??

If you would post benchmark results of O2X, I will post G2X results after I get it today or tomorrow (quadrant and linpack).
I get 2614 Quadrant score on completely stock rom
Please at the stock ROM, try to run second test immediately after first. I think you should take better results.

I got best at 2650 (some were slightly lower) with G2X.
Linpack really sucked - could not break 40 (had done better then that - into the upper 50's with MT4G - overclocked of course).
I got 2680 for my O2X on stock rom. Best record.

The G2X seems much faster than the O2X.

I remember someone did it for Hero but you might have to customize the ROM first.

Even if this is possible, both of the ROMs would need to be either Froyo based or GB based because they would have to share the radio. Currently on IncS Froyo radio won't work on GB ROM and vice versa.
[MIUI]Can we flash the P990 ROM to P970? Or flash from other phone's ROM?
P990 with dual-core CPU, and the specification are completely different with P970. So, it's not compatible with our phone...

Then you should wait for it... Every LG device, or every android device, won't compatible each other, for example P990 and P970. So don't try it.

haha.I have a mistake that I think their button are just similar and wondering there is a chance to flash it. I think I am totally wrong.
besides, Go launcher EX with NOVA is still a problem of battery drain and lag on many games.
However, I promise, I won't try to flash MIUI before official release. Thanks for all of you
Same buttons ain't mean anything.. lol. Glad you dint try.
Even the alpha versions of under development Rom can brick your device so trying to flash a completely another device 's Rom is quite pointless.
However I also wish we could have MIUI Rom soon as possible.
Let's vote... (again) but this time for sandwich, also don't expect to much

if you want to stay with GB, then DM (my personal fav always)
if ICS then, I would suggest Topo's ROM, Homero's ROM with Topo SP2 or Stefans' 2nd gen. Others presently have the incall bug....all CM10 based ROMs.....so better to choose something which is free of this.
Hope this helps you
+1 for Django Manouche as GB ROM.
TG P990 ICS V30A - Stable - Rom and Advanced Kernel
All i have to say is my p990 is one before and is All i want after i flash this ROM it is just amazing the work the coder did on this ROM im using the test v30a ROM did not flash the final release yet but by far it is the best ROM i ever had for my P990 i highly recommend even if you dont want to overclock it comes with the best scripts to improve the memory and push the karnel to the maximum cost benefit.:good:

As you should already be aware, because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thank you. Thread closed.
Like many others on here, I have a stock, unrooted, old su660 (new bootloader) that I would like to install CM 10.1/2 on. I have read many of the forums on here but am confused about:
1. How exactly should I root? Using this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
2. Should I do this to install? CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954903 Or should I use a newer version of CWM (and if there is one where is it)?
3. I understand Kowalski kernels is the way to go (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441519) for the Cyanogen Mod p990 nightlies (http://get.cm/?device=p990) which is the way I would like to go.
If someone could walk me through this it would be amazing :good:.
Please help! It would be great if we could get an updated sticky.

CM 10.1 Nightly ROM is used in OLBL. You can down files to change from ICS stock to NewBL following the thread below http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737. And uses AIO Toolkit and Introduction to flash!
