[Q] HTC HD7 WIFI Bug - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So here is my problem. When I turn on my Wi-Fi I don't have problems, my phone works fine, but when I connect to my home networks (I have 2) the phone shows me that is connected to the network, but I cant access sites or market or anything that uses network. When I try to turn the phone off he doesn't and I must get off the battery. Any ideas how can I fix that problem.
PS: Sometimes my htc connects properly and I don't have problems but that is very very infrequently. Sorry for my bad English but im from Bulgaria.

Anybody?

It seems more like...
The router's fault, does your phone connects with other wifis?
have you tried a hard reset?
Which ROM are you using, stock or custom?

Yes with onther wifis I have the same problem.
Yes I've tried hard reset.
Custom rom. Now I am with Dynamics v2.0 7.8 Rom (I've tried nextgen+ and ansar and I have the same result; with the stock rom I also get this problem).

So there is no way to fix that bug wright?

Sorry but...

It seems that is a faulty phone, your only option is to disassemble it and see if the wi-fi antenna is disconnected, from the mainboard.

Wi fi and gps signal problem

Hi, i´ve tested many roms, the lastest Dutty´s and Miri´s, and others and the lastest radio 1.14.25.24 with the bs_rilphone correspondent, and all the radios 1.13.25.24, 1.12.25.16, 1.10.25.25, 1.09.25.35, 1.09.25.14, i´ve tried flashing from sd, and from pc, but iam having a very low wifi signal, sometimes no signal, and no gps signal at all, using garmin.... I dont remember wich was the original radio on my hd, but i used to have a very good wifi signal, and gps signal too. Not happening now
Any help????
edit:
The only way i get a very weak wifi signal, when i stand near by my wifi router....

Don't forget you need to have your phone security unlocked before you can use this radio or you'll brick your device
Already tried that one too.... bad reception....

Have you always had bad signal even with stock rom? If so, could be hardware related so a warranty return may be best option.
If you have unlocked your device as you say, this will void your warranty. However, if you revert the SPL to the stock one, it maybe alright. Possibly someone like Olipro with more experiece returning security unlocked devices might tell you otherwise...
I had a very similar problem (no wifi and no GPS) and here's how I solved it. Remove the battery for 1-2 hours.

[Q] X1 - WIFI problem, connected but not working

Hello to you all
I tried to search, no luck. (maybe just missed the solution if any)
I have problems with wifi.
I can connect to wifi network, (ip is set to device, I can see it in router statistic) but none of the programs that connect to internet.
opera, iexplorer, facebook...........qGPS... are not working. like no connection.
I am using Energy.XPERIA.23678.Sense2.5.Cookie.Aug18, and same happens on my other X1 with Energy.XPERIA.21903.Sense2.5.Cookie.May.09
I also tried other roms. on original it was working I flashed other roms and I have this problem. tried too many still the same problem.
I always erase all (tool29 or how its called) before flashing, always hard reset.
my radio is: 1.14.25.55
I tried to connect to different networks, still the same. even on my home network (that I know all configurations) its not working.
thank you for help and your time.
---------------
its definetly not the router issue, tried restart all things. I can manage my router (I can see the device connected in router table), I tried to set wifi on X1 to performance also other way to quality(or how its called). no luck. but its not router issue. I tried it with open router (no security at all- diferent devicess can connect.), also tried to set different wifi standards no luck.
I have the same problem on 2 phones both are X1. tried different roms. still the same. my other HTCkaiser can connect no problem.
It's occurred in my Vaio. Hahaha. I thought it's the router issue,

No I mean, I have the same problem like yours but it occurs in my Vaio not X1. Not so sure why but I think it's router issue, it's not your device's fault. Just opinion.
In standard communication manager set max performance for wi-fi. I don't know where is it on energy rom but must be in windows folder.
(Sory for my english)
same
have the same problem with one of my x1s after I've flashed an energy rom/ It's not the routers fault, the other X1 works fine with it /So, is there any solution for this/ have tried a lots of roms after that, but it didn't solved the problem/ The x1 connects to the routers but can not use any of them / The routers are all unsecured, no key needed to use them.
I had the same issue, my solution was to change the settings by taking firewall off router through your pc and make it a open network till you connect wifi from your phone to the router then once thats done and you have tested the internet then you can switch back on the firewall settings and your good to go.
Yes!!!

Don't mean to interrupt, Change the router performance (Router is the WiFi not the phone X1) different router (WiFi device that shares internet) means different setup.
Out of topic, contrary from mymailx, I have different problem. When my X1 can use the WiFi well, but my tablet and pc can't use the WiFi, it is connected but can't access internet (yellow exclamation at WiFi icon at taskbar). odds. I have restarted ever settings.

[Q] My IncS completely disconnects, often!

First of all, let me start of what I've tried doing, in order.
New SIM-card, factory reset, unlock + root, custom ICS (VirtousQuattro).
None of the above solved my problem, it still persists! The problem is, the phone disconnects completely from the network (no bars) and I can't manually search for a new provider due "active package transmission" or something like that, it stays disconnected for 1-3 minutes and then reconnects. It happens fairly often, like once for every 5 times I try using the phone. I haven't noticed the problem when being connected to a WiFi, so I'd assume the problem is related to an issue between the phone and the network.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any idea how to solve it?
Have you tried flashing a new Radio? I can't see how that would differ from flashing a custom ROM, but might be worth a shot?

So much for being "unlocked". Also, hey mate
Yes Naforcee, I have exactly the same problem. And it never happens while using wifi as you said.
It started immediately after I updated to Sense 3 / Android 2.3.5 from HTC.
What was the version of Android in your previous Rom? I had issues when I was on Froyo and went to Gingerbread without flashing a new radio.

Don't think it's a physical problem, I have perfect connection and it just dies out for about 2 min until it reconnects, and I can't search for network when it's down due to active packet transfer..
Could try a new SIM card. Might not fix it, but worth a shot - I've seen this posted as a fix for other people.
I used to have this problem on certain radios on the Desire Z, after flashing around a bunch of radios to try all of them. Stuck with one and it went away, so it was software for me.

Try flashing this radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471861 using the ADB method. If that doesn't help I recommend doing a full wipe and reinstalling the ROM. There are a lot of different custom ROMs for IncS which can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136463
I personally like Niks ROM and Android Revolution HD.
Looks like rom installation issue.
My son's Inc-S having a similar problem to the OP, but more severe. A couple of weeks ago he entered airplane mode with all behaving normally, but since exiting airplane mode at the end of the flight he hasn't been able to register on the network (voice or data). We've tried:
fiddling with all the network settings
change sims (all sims work on my Inc2, none work on his IncS)
cleaning the antenna connections
reboot
factory reset
flashing new ROM (Android Revolution HD 2.3.0)
flashing new radio (3805.10.03.29_M)
So far, no satisfaction. We're still seeing no bars of reception (with an X) in the notification area, and don't have the option to manually or automatically register with any network operator (although several occasionally show up as options under "Search Networks"). We usually get the error message, "Unable to search for network while packet connection is active" when trying to select a network. Funny thing is, mobile network data has been shut off on his phone for the past month so the packet connection is definitely not active (wifi is on). Based on a network signal analyzer app, the phone is receiving the same mobile network signal as mine (-65 to -70 db) when they are side-by-side, so the problem does not appear to be in the antenna. The phone works just fine using wifi but is useless as a phone.
Any ideas about what to try next?

Probably a RIL-Radio communication issue. Recommended radio is the newer 3822.01.08.14_M radio, so maybe you should try that.

It sounds like a software problem. Have you tried WifiFix app? If your ROM is ICS, then try this wifi fix app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21406675

First step when you want to troubleshoot an issue is to return back to stock rom and firmware to determine if the problem is software or hardware.

How can you be sure of this? Hardware damage can happen for many reasons; overheating chips, loose antenna, loose connectors etc etc.... Th eonly way to be 100% sure its not software related is to go back 100% stock.
And just in case (im pretty sure you already tried it) make sure its not related to your wifi rooter. Try using another one, even if other devices are working fine using this rooted doesn't mean your rooter is not the culprit.
