Help with Incredible s rooting?? - HTC Incredible S

Hey. I wanted to install the Ice cold sandwich rom on my Incredible s but I think I need root and/or s off. Does anyone know of a really easy way of doing this either on my phone or on my Mac?
Thanks a lot

Just follow the instructions in this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
Also there are brilliant jelly bean roms out with continuous support. Why don't you try out one of those? Dev on the ROM you want has been suspended. If you want a new ics aosp experience, then you can wait for szeszo to release his cm9

Is it not possible to get the Ice cold sandwich rom now then? And do you know of any good incredible s jelly bean roms? Thanks

Tip of the day: Check the official site not some weird forums.
HTC site says that we won't get 4.1 from them.
By the way, there is only a guy with multiple accounts...all the members joined on Aug 2012 and some if them speak about backup before updating the phone...you can't do that. I can give you more proofs but I would lose my time with useless things. I am sorry to disappoint you.
I'm not trying to make enemy's here, I just want to know if jelly bean is available, and trust me I had my doubts about that site as well. And sense nobody on xda has jelly bean. I will believe you. Sorry for the confusion. :/

I've looked into MIUI. It would have to be CM10.1 or AOSP based because their PatchRom tool doesn't like our 4.1.1 stock. Stock rom was a smali patch nightmare, but CM\AOSP should be more compatible. If Miui wasn't closed source it would be a lot easier to work with.
Not commenting on Ubuntu Touch cause I've never looked at what needs to be done for us to have it.
cool thanks for the info.

Information was not clear. Have you flashed any custom ROM yet? OR running on stock ROM and flashed the kernel?
First download and install a ROM and then flash the corresponding kernel.
I think I got his problem..... You need to flash a custom ROM to upgrade android version actually. That android upgrading screen is because you wiped dalvik cache

It is not a pre-requisite. It doesn't need 4.1.2. You just have to flash the ROM. It will automatically say that version.
By the way, I flashed with JB 4.2.2 the same day and running on the same.

The overall look and feel is much smooth. I haven't discovered many bugs yet, but if you try to change widget buttons (which I generally used to do in CM10 build#3), then the quick settings (in the notification drawer) won't simply work.
Overall I am happy with it. So I will stick to it for some time.
