Does this case exist - Nexus 7 Accessories

Hi guys,
I was wondering if this type of case exists
The samsung gsIII has a cover that replaces the back cover and adds a flip cover to it so it doesnt add extra thickness to the back.
If not I was actually thinking of taking one of the chinese flip covers (the magnetic ones that go all the way around the nexus and hold with a magnet) and removing the plastic casing and just using an adhesive to the back of the nexus and just taping the smart cover portion onto it so it barely adds thickness but still keeps the smart cover feature.
Basically this shows my idea, I already have this case and I took the main part off the plastic and just want to stick it onto the back of the N7. So any ideas peoples

If you're going to do that just get this case since it already has the sticky glue type patch on it:

Oops, my bad. Should have mentioned it was dirt cheap. Although the whole $0.01 for the cover and $4.99 for shopping to get around ever needing to give a refund cheeses me quite a bit.

I believe this would be what you were looking for, It is a verry thin flip cover and it is sold through google so I would hope that it wouldn't be cheap garbage.

Not 100% what I was looking for. I thought about the official N7 cover but it still adds thickness to the back and it doesnt have the option to turn into a stand for the tablet. Thats why I like the Samsung GSIII cover, it just replaces the battery cover with one that has a flip cover attached so it doesnt add any thickness. Either way I have the one i pictured above just in gray and already took the flip part off the plastic now i just need to find the best way to attach it to the back of the nexus

You need to find the same sort of adhesive patch on that cheap case I linked to. Its permanently glued to the case and has a peel off protector on the other side. It's very tacky, like the glue on a screen protector. And like them it doesn't leave a residue behind. It took me 3 tries to get the TPU case onto the leather case where I wanted and no residue was there between attempts. Of course I have no clue where you'd get such a glue pad by itself unfortunately.

[QUICK REVIEW] Nexus 7 OEM Case

So I just got my OEM case in from the Play Store and I figured I’d give you guys my initial thoughts on it and answer any questions you guys might have. First and foremost, I must say I am a little disappointed in the overall quality of this thing. It just doesn’t match that of the tablet that it is designed to protect. It’s a little on the thick side, it is made from a cheap TPU style material which I have never been a fan of, and it makes the sleep/wake and volume buttons rather difficult to press. The flap that folds over the screen is the same material, and while it does have a little extra thickness for protection, there is no soft liner to protect the screen. I guess that’s OK, because nothing will scratch the screen anyway when it’s closed. There is no magnet, clasp, or snap to hold it shut, but it does stay shut on its own when the tablet is set down. The hinge is very flexible, and you can fold the cover completely flat to the back of the tablet with little effort. Unfortunately, there is NO smart cover function here so it does not wake up the tablet or put it to sleep.
The design of the case matches that of the Nexus 7 closely. It has the same dimpled pattern on the front and back, and the Nexus and ASUS logos are the same size and in the same location as they are on the back of the tablet itself. One thing I really like about it is that I can clip my Wacom Bamboo stylus (my secret weapon in Draw Something and Where's my Water) directly to the spine of the cover which is pretty convenient. The way that the case was manufactured left seams running around the whole case, and you can see the score and cut marks where seemingly all the cases were stuck together on the assembly line. Sorry, but to me it all just makes it feel cheap. I do like the design of the case, I just think they could have made it with higher quality materials. If you happen to like TPU cases, then surely you will be more pleased with the case than I am. Looking online all the other cases available seem pretty cheap and I absolutely HATE leather cases so I think for now, this is the best case available. It really is a shame that this is what Google thinks is the best way to protect their pride and joy of the tablet world, I really wish they put as much thought into it as they did their tablet. All complaints aside, I can recommend this case on its design and level of protection alone- there is no question that the Nexus 7 is safe and sound nestled inside of it. $20 for this thing is a fair price in my opinion, and as critical as I am of it, I am very happy with my purchase and have no problem using it until a better option comes along.

The Wacom Bamboo that I have just has a clip like any other pen but the Adonit Jot Pro that I have on order has a magnet in it to stick it to the face of the tablet.
Thanks bud! Appreciate it. Going to order this as soon as it is available.
Just got back from the craft store, unfortunately none of the magnets I got work. I tried to get the thinnest magnet tape possible so maybe that's the issue. I bought these little .75"x.75" squares, those magnets for the back of business cards, and a roll of actual tape that comes on a dispenser like scotch tape. No go on any of them.
Greatly appreciate the review. Might opt to hold off on this now. :L
Thx for the review..I'll wait for an aftermarket case closer to the smart cover on the iPad....you know one is coming!

A problem with case with Automatic Sleep/Wake Function

I bought a nice looking case with with automatic sleep/wake function which perfectly does what it supposed to do - wakes the tablet when the cover is opened:

However it does too much - it puts the tablet back to slip when the cover folded back:

Thanks for heads up. A really nice looking case. Plus I like the strap it has for one hand holding.
Good to know, I was looking at those. Hope you left a review so the manufacturer can fix the issue.
Always good to know some case manufactures appear to add a magnet that is too strong and they had to correct them. Id suggest sending an email to where you bought it from if they have the improved version.

That's a good question. I sent a message to seller. BTW it has 3yr warranty.
Can you cut off the automatic wake/sleep feature, by magnet, in settings? I really like this case. Not pressed about wake/sleep thing. Is the tablet held sturdy in there?
I just got this in today, and i have the same issue with mine. Hopefully I can get it replaced with a fixed version.. It's quite annoying and it's almost unusable with the case on.

No, clips are pretty weak.
Ahhh, you know, I bet if there was more space between the back of the cover and the front (when it's folded back), like if it wasn't completely flat, it wouldn't shut it on and off. The magnet they're using is probably too strong.
This is a known problem and a lot of the sellers have delayed their shipments to rework the magnet. I was supposed to get my slim folio case from i-blason this week but they delayed it cause they found the magnet problem. Other sellers are sending customers who already bought them a new case that fixes the magnet problem.

My ghetto Nook 3G case with a magnet in the front pocket does this too.. First time I was like wtf, why does it keep turning off?? Sigh.
Posted this in another thread, but: I taped a few washers to the case under the N7 and it provides enough shielding to prevent the turn off. Ghetto AF, but it will work until the case comes.
As for the clips, I have the same case for my Kindle Fire and it has never came out. They have metal in them...just bend them a bit tighter if you are not comfortable with the grip. And my KF is used by a 4 year old boy.

Got the same case, tried to bend the clips in to hold the Nexus 7 tighter, no dice. When I get the replacement with the magnets fixed I might slice the first one open, I'm thinking it is plastic clips not metal. There is a lot of give, and trying to force them in (to tighten them) does absolutely nothing.
Glad I only spent $7 on this, probably going to try the i-Blason one that is similar (http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Slee...d=1343436893&sr=8-8&keywords=i-blason+nexus+7) and hope it holds the tablet tight. Got a similar case for my iPad and it is very secure.

Man, I think that is probably exactly the same case. Look at how it is cut away from the buttons...looks exactly like my Poetic one. Mine holds tight enough for me...maybe your replacement will hold better. For me, just so it does not come out when shoved in my bag is all I care about, and this does the trick. I'm a middle aged office worker with kids...my life is not exciting enough for the thing to come flying out of the case, lol.
I hope this doesnt happen with the YooMee brand one...

Try putting a folded peace of aluminum foil inside the back of the case where the magnet is when its folded back.

[Q] Experiences with Samsung flip cover?

The Note II has been out for a little bit and I wanted to know if anyone has a Samsung flip cover and how well it works as a case? from the description I think it replaces the battery cover, does this make it any stronger? It's quite pricey so I'm not sure if its worth 30$...
No but I recently ordered a carbon fiber one from ebay for like $16. Haven't got it yet. Shipping from China so it might take a while.
And the point, I'm sure, of replacing the back cover is so wont add to the size of the phone.
By the way, I believe Samsung offering 50% off of mobile accessories on its website. So you could get the official Samsung one for $20. You'll have to enter a coupon code which should be easy to find with a little searching.
ETA: this is the carbon fiber case I ordered if anybody is interested:

It doesn't protect the phone at all. The flap gets annoying and makes picture taking difficult. Not worth the money. It does look damn classy when it's sitting on my desk closed though.

nfc compatible.
screen scratch protection when closed.
annoying for pictures.
looks damn sexy.
thin which with this phone is important.
Absolutely hate it. Have to hold with both hands to use the camera. Protection is a joke. Returned and got TPU instead. So far liking the tpu a lot better.

Although my phone is white so I might need a black skin in the back for the logo to stand out.
I just got the black body glove case that T-Mobile sells. It's the only one they had at the store other than the flip cover. It's better than the flip cover, but i just dropped my phone and it landed face down and the corner of the case popped off. The screen didn't crack, but left a scuff on the edge. Also, the side buttons are a bit difficult to access with this case. I guess I'll keep looking...

The flip covers looks good, but thats about the only positive I have for it. I purchased one when I bought my phone and here are the cons.
1: expensive
2: the most likely spot for your phone to make contact in a drop are the sides and corners which go unprotected with this case.
3: Flap ends up being more annoying than anything else
4: I have a white flip case, and it gets dirty easy which I would guess happens to all the lighter colors.
5: getting sand and other particles trapped between the screen and the flip cover can cause scratches.
I purchased a few cases, from sprint, amazon, Verizon etc and my go to case so far has been the body glove from sprint. It's pretty, and has a perfect fit. That plus a SGP screen protector.

100% incorrect. The NFC antenna is built into the battery cover. Cheapo knockoff flip covers have this important piece missing from their battery covers, but the Sammy OEM cover has it installed. The only time I hate my sammy flip cover is when taking pictures, as the flip sort of gets in the way. Other than that, I love the flip, just feel better about it in my pocket, and I don't get oil from holding the phone to my cheek anymore. Going to try out the Incipio LGND case to see if I like it more with the added protection.

For me, the flip cover actually allows me to take pictures with one hand only. I can get a good grip with it, see attached picture.
I found it also works great when using GPS navigation in the car, I insert the flip cover into the CD slot, at an angle, and it hangs perfectly, with the display facing the driver.
Today, I watched a movie in the plane, with the flip cover inserted into the magazines pouch of the seat in front of me, the display stayed in a perfect position.
I have installed a program called "auto screen on" from the play store, when I open the flip cover, the phone turns on in less than a second, no battery diference, it works extremely well.

I have the flip cover on my Galaxy Note 1. I'm planning to get it for my Note 2. The one thing I like about it is that it looks pretty damn nice. I have the brown flip cover on my white Note 1, and it looks pretty classy looking. I get compliments on the looks since it it really matches well with the white and chrome trim of the Note. On the Note 1, the brown flip case has a textured back, which is easier to grip than the glossy slippery back of the white battery cover. Also, the metal ring that goes around the camera lens is recessed more with the flip case, so the metal ring and lens don't get damaged. I want to get the Brown flip case on my Note 2, but this time, I might also try finding a case that will go over the flip cover to protect the sides and corners, since the flip case won't really protect against drops.

Belkin Snap Folio Case

After cracking the screen on my Note 2 with a very short less than 2 foot drop I decided I needed to upgrade the protection on my phone. I had a Cruzerlite on there and I thought that was about as good as you could get until you started getting into the big bulky dual and triple layer cases. After looking over my options I picked up the Belkin Snap Folio case at a Verizon store today. Lots of things I like about it and a couple of things I don't. I wasn't sure I would like a folio style case as I think the cover would be a PITA. After a whole day I'm getting used too it, not saying I'm loving the flip open style case but it is growing on me. It does add some thickness to the phone, not as bad as a Defender or the like but more so that my TPU case. It is a little more difficult to pull out of my bluejeans (Levis slim cut) pocket because of the size, the soft leather body which is grippier, and the snap tab which will grab the edge of the pocket. I don''t know if thi will go away with some use but the snap closure curls up when it is used as a stand and obstructs the phone. Hopefully this will go away as I work and break in the leather. There is an indention for the home button on the cover so it lessens the chance of accidental presses waking the device. The leather is soft and the case has a good high quality feel too it. Although it does feel like a quality product don't confuse that for the feel of a premium product you will get some some of the more expensive leather cases available on the market.

There is a hard rubberized plastic shell that is fused to the inside of the leather folio case. I like this design because of the way all 4 corners are protected. The thick still leather body also adds quite a bit of protection and will help absorb the energy of a fall. I also like the security of the cover protecting the glass during a fall. My wife broke her GSII when it fell and hit a pebble sticking up out of the grass. The fit is perfect and all ports like up exactly. With the case closed you have access to the power button, USB port, and headset port. The headset port looks like it is partially blocked but that isn't the case. It is unobstructed and you will have no problems fitting any headphones. My Westones which usually have a hard time fitting into any case unmodified have no problems with this case.
Nice write-up... thx for posting. I've considered a folio case, but have one huge concern. Does the front cover easily fold all the way around to the back (so it's flat on back cover) to allow access to the volume rockers? I frequently use my Note2 in landscape mode (games, landscape typing, etc) and am curious if this case folds all the way back so phone can be held in landscape mode and access volume keys. Thx
Good review.
I am also interested to know if you can bend it all the way back.
DoctorQMM, you can with the official flip case serie and they are very durable. I see absolutely no sign of wear to the fold on mine after two intense moths of use! One word of warning however. The inside of the white one gets very dirty.
Zero problem folding all the way back on itself. I use it that way the majority of the time
Folded back on itself.
A bit fugly for my taste, but it appears to be quite functional.
I prefer vertical flips as it seems more natural (to me) to let the cover fall and talk. With side flips you have to bend them for sure. As this one has a speaker cutout I guess you can always close it after the call is initiated, and then hang up with the power button.
Two major flaws tho... once again they didn't bother to add a cutout for the notification light, meaning that if the phone is in the desk and closed, you will never see events. And they also didn't bother to cut for the volume rocker on the left side. I'm starting to think that if I want a proper case I have to learn some leathersmith skills and buy some equipment. Maybe create a BeoCase business. /heads to kickstarter.com
I have one of these cases. Highly recommend!
This is my signature....
I'm starting to think that these cheap tpu cases are not good for even small drops. I wonder if it would be appropriate to start a thread on which cases can actually survive a drop and which cases do not. Doesn't matter if it's a $2 ebay case or a $60 defender.
Not a big fan of these Folio cases because they expose too much of the top and/or bottom.
Does the flap that keeps the cover down become annoying while trying to use the phone?

Don't notice it normally. Now that I have use it a little it sits flatter when using the stand feature so it isn't that bad any more and doesn't get in the way.

I mentioned that my screen cracked with a TPU case in the OP, which probably prompted that post.
Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm wonder how the inner case is affixed to the leather outer. Is it just glued? I like this case but am concerned the inner will eventually come apart from the outer.
Thanks

Just got this case and I love it. From what I can see it looks glued together.

[review] Deluxe Leather Card Stand Flip Wallet Case

Original Post
Has anyone used this leather flip case?
Deluxe Leather Card Stand Flip Wallet Case
It looks to be high quality, but I have a concern. It looks to be magnetic. Where is the magnet? If it is in the little flap, I would just cut it off. If anyone has used it, I would appreciate hearing what you think.

Purchase Review:
I thought I would start this off by giving a quick review of the transaction. I ordered mine through the eBay link in my original post that is quoted above. Shipping was very fast. It was packaged pretty well, and I got exactly what I ordered. If anyone is interested in this case I recommend using the this eBay link.
[Modified] Product Review:
I am reviewing the product as I modified it. I cut the little flap off to remove the magnet.
PROS:
The case does seem to be very high quality. The coloring is very nice and the case has a premium look and feel. I also really like the shell insert to clip the phone in. There is no bulk around the edges of the screen to contend with. It allows you to use swipe gestures as you would on a naked phone.
There is also plenty of storage for 4-5 credit cards, a pocket for cash, and another pocket for papers (Social Security Card, Voter ID, or things like that).
This case also offers pretty good protection as long as it stays closed on a drop. If it were to flutter open in the air before and land screen down, the screen might not fare too well.
CONS:
There is a second magnet inside the front cover of the case. I piece of metal will stick to the outside very easily, However if you run the piece of metal along the inside of the front cover, there is no magnetic pull. I don't know if it would interfere with the phone, but I don't want to risk it.
The storage, while a pro, is also a con. The case is too big to use everyday in your front pocket. It fits, but there is a huge bulge that just looks weird. And I don't like the thought of sitting on my phone all the time, so the back pocket is out. If I carried a bag around all day the size wouldn't bother me at all.
No front cutouts. A cutout for the notification LED would be nice. I don't really need a front speaker cut out, but I could see why others would.
Credit cards in the case. I worry about have the edges of the cards always rubbing on the screen. I have a screen protector your screen would be safe, but the protector itself would have rub lines from the cards.
OVERALL OPINION:
I really like the way it looks. I really like the idea of it. However the cons are just too much, and this case isn't for me.
I would also like to know looks super nice for the price...I want a wallet case like that so I can throw phone in my backpack for work and watnot

Is there a magnet in the cover too or just the little flap?

I picked this up and love it. I actually did away with the little flap and with precision sliced it off. I keep three cards in the card holders and with a little over a months use it is nicely worn in getting an authentic 'vintage' look. Because it's worn in the cover doesn't have issues closing completely giving it a true Journal/Diary appearance.
I bought mine here, but still stuck with the same color posted on the OP.

Overall very impressed with what I got for what I paid. Definitely recommend it.

I already have a flip case. I just like the leather.
The case you have linked uses magnets as well. That is s deal breaker
I have the white version of this case. The only complaint i have about it is that the SPen is a b**** to access
