So, the Nexus 5 is out
And next year the Nexus 6 will be out, I guess...
but what will happen then? Google can't release a Nexus 7, since they already have it...
What do you think will be their solution?

It won't be Nexus 6, just like this year's Nexus 7 wasn't called Nexus 8. We are going to be looking at a Nexus 5 2014 or "the New Nexus 5".
i think it is named NEXUS 5 because of the nearly 5" Screen.
The next NEXUS will probably be named the NEW NEXUS 5

The number is an indicator of it's screen size, not generation. There has already been 2 Nexus 7s. It's called Nexus 7 (2013).
Nexus5V2
At some point I think it'd just be "Nexus."
My guess is that it will either be called Nexus 5 (2014) or they will just come up with a new name.

Well a bunch of people already said it but I'll say it again.
Its based on screen size. We will most likely get 'The New Nexus 4/5" or "Nexus 4/5 20xx Edition" they might make a nexus 6 depending on how well people like the Galaxy Note line up and other 5.5in+ screened phones.

Nexus prime. They should use that name officially for the next nexus.

Or they might go to letters though that's less likely. Like maybe they say the nexus g or nexus z, etc. Maybe they'll say something like nexus x like the moto x though none have the same ring to them. I like what you said about nexus prime though I think that's too flashy for them

Roman numerals.
this crap again? nobody knows for sure if the N5 was named such because of the 5th gen Nexus phone, or the 5" screen size (although the N4's 4.7" was much closer to 5" than 4")
lets all just enjoy the Nexus 5 for what it is and stop this retarded speculation of a phone that is a year away from being produced (if it gets made at all, since there is no guarantee in the first place)
They cannot use the "Nexus 6" name whatsoever.
Blade Runner and co. own the rights.

Pull a Final Fantasy. Obviously the best idea.
Nexus V-2.
They could name it after the major Android release. Like they could have called the Nexus 5 "The Nexus KitKat" and then next year could be "The Nexus Licorice, or Lemondrop, or whatever they are going to call it." Or so it doesn't sound so silly, they could just use the letter. Nexus K, Nexus L, etc...
They'll start calling it Google 1

Duh isn't it obvious? Its going to be called the Nexus 5S just like Apple!!
Okay, so this happened: Android Police: Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 OTA
Hopefully it won't take long for us now
Yay! I have my Nexus 4 rooted and have the bootloader unlocked running stock ROM 4.3 (JWR66Y) with TWRP recovery flashed and LTE enabler flashed. What is the easiest way for me to update to 4.4? (either through OTA or flashing the 4.4 ROM/update)
We are the next hour by tomorrow nexus 4 gets kitkat

OTA Updates won't do you no good, even if you receive a notification with rooted stock, it'll most likely fail.
Either flash back to bone stock (no root, no custom recovery) and hope you get it soon, or wait until someone gets the N4 OTA, rips out the new binaries and compiles a new ROM with them from scratch, which you then can flash via CWM/TWRP.
Personally, I choose the latter. Also, do read the article in the link, it explicitly states that only the N7 and N10 have their OTA's rolling out so far, the time specified for our device is still "soon".

Ah, okay, I didn't know how familiar you are since you only joined this year ^^
I have a penchant to explain things in long-winded posts, it's a failing, I know
Google clearly said it, "Screw you Nexus 4."
Plus Google is always following the same Apple model. Wtf would they keep Google Experience launcher and Transparency limited to NEXUS 5? See the picture. Nexus 7 running 4.4 OTA doesn't have GEL or transparency. SERIOUSLY GOOGLE?

for me 4.4 will be the 1st stock that will not use, GEL is one of the best features from 4.4(looks like from N5) so the 4.4 update will be just to get custom 4.4 roms less glitched / more optimized
Tomorrow is November 13. Didn't I hear there was a Google Search update coming on November 13th. Since GEL is pretty much powered by Google Search, I am guessing GEL can get on devices tomorrow. Just a guess. If it is true, I win a cookie.

That actually makes sense, maybe the reason google didn't put it in the factory images for other nexus devices is because they're going to roll it out through the play store, as the google search update

Plus, it was also rumored to get rolled out though Play store anyways. Everything will come together soon enough. We just gotta wait.

Agreed it will come after few fixes and may be with 4.4.1
The build number for the N7 and N10 is KRT16O that is different than the N5's.

That's interesting, maybe it already is the 4.4.1 Update.
I miss JBQ.. The OTA is being pushed to those devices, yet there are no factory images for those devices.. Such a backwards rollout.. These things are supposed to go hand in hand.
isolated supposed to have been delivered in the states the nexus 6 with Kitkat. Whether the stories are true or not I dont know.
Maybe anyone has a Kitkat-Rom for the Nexus 6 ?
greetings, Peter
Nexus 6 was delivered with lollipop. Unless someone does a crazy backwards port, I wouldn't expect the nexus 6 to get kitkat at all

There was an early issue with some Nexus 6's where they came with KitKat and are in a factory test mode. This mostly happened to ATT versions of the phone.

I know people had asked for them to pull the software off the phones but I don't think anyone did and or were able to. I haven't seen anyone mention this issue in over a month.
The phones didn't work at all on KitKat. They would start and go to black screen. They recalled them. No one ended up with a n6 on KitKat that worked.

WTF? I am unlocked and rooted and still on 5.0.1. I flipped out and double checked that I am still rooted. I am. Who and how managed to force push this download to my Nexus 6?
And how do I delete it? Thank you!

Being rooted and unlocked doesn't stop 5.1 from downloading. But install will fail, unless system and kernel are stock. So nothing to worry about. I'm not sure what folder it stores in, but if you delete it, it will download again.
Ok, thank you. I think I'm on Nocturnal and I have Franco's Kernel.

If you are on a PC, it's in the lower RH corner of the post that you want to thank. If you are on the XDA app, on your phone, press and hold the relevant post. You have the option to quote it, or to thank (thumbs up icon).
Man, I Really HONESTLY have serious ADD and just as SOON as I hit that effing send key, "hmmm, maybe they've been meaning the thumbs up!" lol. I'm on just my trusty Nexus 6 right now, no pc access

2 different images for which version? There 14 factory images, don't see 2 different ones for a certain version/update though.. Then there's the N previews.

I guess that answers my question, there is Marshmallow image and an 'N' image....

I'm pretty sure he's referring to MOB30I and MMB30G.
If you search I'm pretty sure there's another thread on this topic already... I don't know the differences, but I think MOB30I is slightly newer and generally the build people recommend.
edit here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/security-update-posted-t3371028
