Custom rom is custom rom do you want stock xxjpk or custom rom ???
JPK is old .
You can build your own rom via rom kitchen .

MTP search the MTP threads is all i can suggest .

i want an costum rom. dose my firmware version counts? my version is XXJPK
Got the same problem with kies. The thing what works for me is flash a 2.2 froyo stock version with repartition and pit via odin. Something like XXJPO. If you want to flash directly a custom rom you donĀ“t need kies, just a working 3 button combo.
tried that to but i gives me something like registration failed when i flash it with the 3 key combo
You are not making any sense .
You want to flash a custom rom but cannot connect to PC .
You want a rom based on XXJPK probably no custom roms for that its old now but you can search the development forum for one .
But why do you want rom based on old firmware .
You can flash a stock rom via Odin even XXJPK but you need a PC /USB connection and download mode working on the phone .
Or you can flash a custom rom of your choosing from internal sd card either downloading the rom directly to the phone and flashing or copying downloaded to PC rom to external sd card via USB or a card reader copying to internal sd card and flash through recovery mode .
But i would start by reading the FAQs and help pages and .>>MTP search the MTP threads is all i can suggest DID YOU .

You can't do both. Once you flash a custom ROM the chances are your phone wont work with Kies. But Kies is horrible so its no loss. Use Odin and pick a custom ROM from the development thread.
If you want froyo, darkys or docs are a good place to start, for Samsung Ginger, juwe is good, or go totally custom and flash CM7 or MIUI
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
when i'm in the download mode and ai chose apply sdcard:update.zip it gives me this error: E:signature verification failed, Isntallation aborted
That's not download mode, that is recovery mode. It will be 3e recovery which can only flash signed zips. You have to flash a kernel that includes CWM using Odin.
I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756

[Q] Stuck in the download mode?

i used darky rom for weeks then decided to test MIUI rom
i made all steps like the installion guide but in odin "ready" didn't appear i clicked on start, set partition appeared but no thing happened
now i'm stocked in the download mode, can't get to recovery mode or to the rom
any help ???
So you wanted to flash back to Froyo and nothing happens?
Which firmware did you use for flashing, which PIT-file, was Re-partition ticked in Odin?
thanks for reply
i used odin v 1.7 ,pit named s1_odin_20100512 and the foryo rom with installation guide of MIUI GT-I9000_FROYO_FULL_PDA.the reprtitioning was ticked.
Alhamdu li Allah finally i installed the rom
that's what i did:
i removed the battery for a while.
i uninstalled samsung kies and usb drivers.
restart the computer and re install samsung usb drivers only.
used another odin v 1.3
get to the download mode and tried again and it worked finally
PIT-files should only be used with three-part firmwares.
But good that you finally got it!

[Q] Problem with CM7.1 install

Hello,
pls someone help me!
I tried to install cm7.1 to my I9000 phone (android 2.1 was running on my phone, and didn't rooted)... I followed wiki description... I finished "Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery" section. But it seems was not successfully (command prompt showed it was succesfully).
The phone always try to boot. I can put into download mode (Odin cannot recognize it ) but can not put into recovery mode...
I don't know how to continue!
Download the samsun kies and install it (for the drivers), then try to flashe it
is it not problem than 2.1 was running on pone and it didn't rooted before i tried to installed cm7.1?

You must put on the phone the 2.3.6 I9000JVU then installl the CF-Root for it and install CM7.1, but I recomande you CM7.2 or CM9 or 4.0.4 from Elitemovil beta 8
it sounds well... but i'm not perfect in it... i'm greenhorn...
if i understand well i should do this steps:
1) install kies with official driver...
2) find tutorial to install 2.3.5
3) root
4) install cm7.1 (cm7.2)
is it right?
Dirvers ok
huh...
I reinstalled Samsung Drivers and now Odin 1.83 recognise my Phone...
I've got 2 question:
1) android 2.1 was running on my phone... can I upgrade to 2.3.6 directly or at first upgrade to 2.2 and after ugrade 2.3?
2) if I upgrade 2.3.6 official version, download mode will remain?
pls help!

[Q] [i9000] [SOLVED] Upgrade to CM7.2.0

Here is my question: I have a SGS i9000 with froyo 2.2 stock and cf-root, by flashing cf-root i gained obviously root but also the recovery 2e that should be without signature verification. Now if i want to install CM7.2 can i just install it via recovery 2e by renaming it update.zip? or i will brick the phone? On Cm official wiki page about installing they say you need to have gingerbread installed but i'm on mac and i can't flash a gb rom because heimdall is not detecting the file, i also tried with a linux partition on my mac but it did not worked. to get root i used first z4root and then mobile odin to flash cf root with recovery 2e.
thanks in advance to who will help me!
PS: I also have a I9001(see signature) but the phone for wich i'm asking is a i9000!

download KIES for Mac from My Android collections link below, and upgrade your phone to Gingerbread 2.3.6 (KIES will do it automatically) than root it with a semaphore kernel to get CWM, before going on to ICS and than to JB...should be done in this manner , do not jump from GB to JB ( you will have less problems)

ok i will try it, but kies from samsung site is not working at all. and moreover i have this problem, i just want to go from froyo to CyanogenMod 7.2 (android 2.3.6 GB). without any intention to go to ICS or JB. Second thing, if i manage to update from kies then heimdall is going to recognise it? Because if not i can't flash semaphore. Last thing i should uroot the device to update from kies right?
Many thanks for your help!
new information: I have installed your version of kies, and it finally recognise the phone, but it say that the device do not support update via kies, what can i do? thanks
Second edit: i researched and now i know the problem is that i cf-rooted my phone. so how could i revert? to cf-root i have used mobile odin after gained SU with z4root. i would had avoided to flash that if i had know that today kies were to recognise my phone! please help me lso if it was a noob mistake.

Ok, since you have installed KIES and working , heimdall should also be working, IF not you can download a latest heimdall mac version, from earlier link to update to ginger bread 2.3.6, before CM..also backup efs. contacts, images etc first, IF you have CWM, you can even do a nandroid backup, before any upgrade .
Always best to do progressive upgrade as it will not complicate the upgrade by jumping from froyo to CM ( which is a custom ROM) . Best to READ the developers Flashing guidelines before upgrade too.
Flashing the gingerbread ROM will automatically remove your earlier CF root, just download your original Firmware for your region from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 , than use a semaphore Kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908 this will give you root plus CWM for you to upgrade to CM 7.2
Do not jump, as you need Gingerbread bootloaders for upgrade to CM
Solved!

Ok the problem was with froyo secondary bootloader, that is not recognised by heimdall if connected to a mac, nor to a VM Linux on the same mac. so i had borrowed my neighbour's netbook with windows 7. installed heimdall there and everything went smoothly. Firstly i have flashed a new GB rom, 2.3.6, the newer eropean one, then flashed CF-root for that rom with integrated CWM 3.x.x.x. The only problem was that when i flashed from cwm CM7.2.0 i hade a boot loop, so i had to swith off the fone by long pressing the power botton, then i booted in recovery, now the recovery was cwm 5.x.x.x so i wiped data/factpry reset and wiped cache, from the new cwm 5.x.x.x reinstalled CM7.2.0's zip and the latest gapps, booted again and everything went smooth from there.
Thanks for your help!
