from 4.0.4 to 4.2.1 possible? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is that possible to have 4.0.4 xxlpt on my n7000 to update directly to 4.2.1?
If not, how can i do it?
It yes, again ), how can i do it?
Thank you

Yes. All you need to have is a safe kernel. Install a safe kernel. Download the rom you want and place on phone storage. Boot into recovery Cwm and follow the rom thread instructions.

Flashing ICS Updates

Hi All,
This will sound a stupid question, i have flashed SpeedMod Kernal (K3-3) how to i go about flashing a ROM also?
I know most ROMS say how to perform but SpeedMod says no CWM or CIN9 roms?
Anyone help.
What I did:
1. Flash Stock ROM 2.3(choose your country from the Stock Rom topic) with Odin 3
2. Root your device
3. Install CWM
4. Install safe ROM (CM9 as example)

Nothing stupid about the question, but it doesn't belong in Development. I've moved it to Q&A. Please be more careful about where you post

So what ROM are you on now with the speedmod kernel? Stock ICS?
What ROM do you want to go to?
Currently on latest UK ICS 4.0.3 (Offical) rom from Samsung Kies software. Sorry should have stated before not on 2.3.6 anymore.
Any suggestions?

Okay, flash the Speedmod kernel in CWM. This puts you on a safe kernel with stock ICS.
Now, you can flash a CM9 variation of a rom or aokp or one of the other ICS roms that use samsung base.
Edit:
After you flash speedmod, boot up your phone and check settings, about phone, and make sure the kernel is speedmod. Let your phone settle for a little bit, maybe charge if it needs to.

[Q] help to safe flash (cwm, root) ics 4.0.4

is the kernel which I can install, to flash on in cwm (ics stock 4.0.4)?
Huh ? I didn't get that ?
No stock ICS Kernel is safe.
You can use SpeedMod but check if its compatible with 4.0.4 first

Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379650
Essentially, you want to use Odin to flash a custom rom that is rooted with clockworkmod recovery. From there, you can simply download the .zip file of the rom to your phone and flash it from recovery mode.

Yep.
Download the firmware version that u need, use pc odin to flash.
Just simple as that. Don't forget, not to do any wiping, once u r on stock ics kernel.

Why can't you wipe once you're on ICS?
I was reading this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529200
and it says to perform a wipe on step #10. Should I not be doing so?
I'm downgrading to ICS because 4.1.1 won't work because the baseband is too high.

I do full wipe but maybe something unsuitable for the kernel. I do see/watch your video and follow your link. Now I get a lot of information. Thanks buddy. By the way I'm already in Jelly Bean, I'm flashing ICS just for unrooting.
