[Q] Samsung galaxy camera voice call in singapore - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
im new to this forum and im kind of desperate as i lost my phone tomorrow, so in need of a phone asap.
i stumbled upon this samsung galaxy camera yesterday but the salesperson told me it does not have voice call function unless you use skype and stuff. but skype is not being used frequently in singapore.
so is there any apps which i can use to make normal voice calls in singapore?
i read through the forum, there are apps like GrooveIP but when i check on it, it only supports in US or Canada.
thus need some advice on any apps that i can use for normal voice calls.
thank you

as far as I know Skype does exactly what you want if you get a paid subscription.
the free version only allows calls to Skype clients, but if you pay you can also call regular phone numbers(mobile and home).

try mobilevoip.its free in singapore

Internet Calling

Anyone know of program that can call landline/mobile phones using wifi and is inexpensive/free other than skype?
Google voice...
Google Voice doesn't use the data connection for the call though, it still routes it through the same as a normal voice call. I have heard of using a few separate programs to route everything around to use Google Voice, but I have not tried any of them, nor do I know off hand where to point you other than here, ppcgeeks, or the google voice forums.
You could try Fring, it allows you to use other services such as skype/sms/etc. I haven't used it in a long time, but when I did, you wanted at least half of your full signal strength or the quality of audio would drop along with delays in text. It has been said to have gotten better since, but I haven't tried it. They are the first to have the first mobile video call using it with skype on nokia/iphone and the first free voip call using it with skype on android devices.
Hope some of this help
Just curious why not just use your phone? Not enough minutes? If your carrier allows free favorites, you can make your google voice # one of the favorites and call for free.
Im also interested in this, cuz when im out of the country i wanna route my calls through an IPBX
There is no free ip phone service that I know of. It costs money to run a service like that and I don't see anybody giving it away. Skype is not free when making actual phone calls. It is only free to other skype users. So unless the person has a Skype number it's still costing you.
It is actually possible.
You need a google voice number and a gizmo5 account. You can forward your google voice number to a gizmo5 SIP account - thus you get free incomming calls. You can use the mobile google voice webpage to make outgoing calls - thus you get free outgoing calls too.
As far as I know Google voice from the web site only connects your existing phone number(the one being forward to) and the number your wanting to call. So you are still going to be charged for an incoming call if your service does so. If you get free incoming calls then yes. As for the Gizmo5 option it has been acquired by Google Voice and no longer excepts no members accounts or on-line numbers. I have made a GV account and linked it to a Skype account. It only costs my $3 a month for unlimited calling through them outbound and another $6 a month for an on-line number. So for $9 a month a can make unlimited calls and texts. Pretty close to free or as close as it can get for now. I'm sure in a few months GV will have their own on-line service since purchasing Gizmo5. This will hold me over for now.
Try fring. It is pretty good.
i used fring on my old nokia 5800 it worked great the betas and the early and final versions ofit.
How much did your fring end up costing?
I tried multiple VOIP clients and ended up using SJ Phone (free) with google voice and gizmo5. It sounds really good. Fring and the others all gave me trouble or had poor sound.
surprising why no one has tried SPOKN...

Nettalk app... Posible voip app for g tablet?

So I installed nettalk voip app on my tablet it installs but it has the same issues with voice calling with fring. I mean this app would be great for us G tablet users cause we lack phone cababilities. What needs to be fixed so this app would work flawlessly? I would love to use this app cause its like the magicjack of android... Well until magicjack releases there android app which they stated it would be released in september of this year
I tried sipdroid and imsdroid. Neither work.
Also stremfurious doesn't work. It keeps reporting broken pipe and freezing.
It's like the network is going up and down, or the connection status is not being reported properly.
Voip Gtablet
I have Skype and IAXagent working, but unable to get audio to my bluetooth headset.
very possible @op. install sipdroid and let it make you a new pbxes automagically and have gv installed. i treated my viewsonic like a project and first testing requirement was "could i make and receive calls?" well i got swype plus mic and call and recieve working...but the software was still horrible. i couldnt beleive that a device like a giant epic(sgstabby) could massacre my tegra2tabby by way of speed and sheer quickness...working on phone call and receive now for my galaxy tab and i couldnt be happier....amazing what software can do...this tabby will be awesome if it gets enough dev but as it stands its going to be overlooked just because of the crap software...i used all custom roms and none had the performance of STOCK s g tabby....i hate samsung and i looked forward to this device for so long...rather disappointing...glad i purchased at staples with no restock fee
Humm, my sipdroid works just dandy... using sipgate, sipsorcery, Google voice..
Sidebar, in sipdroid you must hit menu>speaker to hear anything.. I've also found within sipdroid in landscape mode the keyboard "enter" button actually starts the call

+1 Skype works fine for me. I have a Skype number and the $2.99 unlimited US/Can calls. I can receive and make calls. I use my phone headset and it works perfectly.
Ok, so I got a Galaxy Tablet (Sprint) from BestBuy, and plan to use it only with WiFi.
I was searching around and discovered Sipdriod as a possible app to make calls over WiFi with my G Tab, but when I try to place a call I get the message "Cannot make or take a call using the Galaxy Tab."
Anyone know why this is?
I read above that Sipdroid won't work, but I am wondering why. I mean is this a limitation Sprint has put on their G Tabs? Is it some limitation Samsung built in?
It just doesn't make sense to me that I can have an Android app that should be able to make a call over WiFi, but the G Tab is restricted.

[Q] Rebtel Android App for international calling

Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Android to Android calling feature of this app. I just moved to the caribbean recently and wanted to talk to my friends in the states. I got my GF to upgrade her phone to a Samsung Fascinate so I'm hoping this app will basically make it almost free for her to call me. BTW, its free incoming calls here in the Caribbean so as long as she can call my number I won't be charged. And it sucks because the island I'm in at the moment has very expensive and slow internet so I can't leave my internet on all the time so no VOIP.
here's the app: http://www.rebtel.com/en/Services/android/

[Q] free calls over Wifi in Iraq/Kuwait

Hey Devs I could really use your help in this matter. Here is the deal, I would like to find a way to be able to make free phone calls using my Captivate while deployed to Iraq/Kuwait. I will be leaving soon and would like some help with a "be all" solution. I use ATT but I don't think that really matters for what I am wanting to accomplish. I have searched all over the internet and I see a bunch of way to do this...in USA. I can't seem to find a way that will work in Iraq. I have tried to use a combo of Sipgate + Google Voice but I read somewhere that google voice only works in USA and the steps that are used appear to be for a past version of the phone app and i can't seem to get it to work correctly. I don't have a lot of time to try and figure this out because I leave very soon. If anybody knows of the steps needed to allow free cell phone calls over Wifi in the middle east, please help me out.
I know I can use Skype and that is the preferred way but that means that my all my friends and family will have to be defendant on a computer or a smart phone. I don't want that, I would like to be able to call any number on any phone over Wifi.

Skype can call mobile and land lines. You just need to have credit. I know its not free. But there really is no free way to make calls over wi-fi.
**Edit: at least not any good means.
Google Voice only really works to US *numbers*, but the free inbound you get from Sipgate One is a US number, so it works.
The only problem is latency and variable call quality, but if you're half a world away people should be understanding...
For apps I suggest Xinlu's Google Voice Callback and CSipSimple.
Ummm ive been to kuwait and the wifi over there is not good enough to be making calls on ur phone via wifi best bet is skype or other services and or just get a local sim card over there and make cell calls and also u should just use the free dsn lines they have over there.

[Q] galaxy tab sgh-t849 tmobile hspa+voice?

i have galaxy tab sgh-t849 (tmobile) and i've installed the Euro firmware and modem switch. which means i either have hspa with no call functionality, or edge + voice.
does anyone know if there is a way to have both voice and hspa at the same time?
Thanks a lot !
use Skype to make your calls and set Skype up so that the receiving phone views your phone number instead of the Skype issued number. same thing effectively. If you can port your number over to Google Voice even better.
