Reg setting to prevent cab file from being deleted after running it?

I've tried searching but with no luck.
what is the reg setting to prevent cab file from being deleted after running it?

this came from searching google:
"We use *.cab files as installation files for our Windows CE versions. Sometimes users ring to ask how to stop the CAB files deleting themselves after running them. Users having been copying the cab files to the CE desktop before running them to ensure that the original remains after installing.
This is not necessary - If you change the properties of the cab file (right-click on the file and select properties) to READ-ONLY (tickbox) then the cab file won't delete itself after installation.
CAB files "self destruct" after being executed unless you make them read-only. We send all our cab files to our web server as read-only, but this attribute tends to get removed at the download stage"

word txt file

Hi there - after I`ve done a hardcopy and bevore I start my backup file I do have WORD as a program - but after the backup it is gone. The consequence of this I can`t read the txt files !!!
This is not so nice ...How can this be solved ?
Is there any possibility to reinstall word ? or what is wrong with my Kaiser and word ???

Could you please rephrase your post? Are you saying that you cannot read txt files after you have done a hard-reset and then restore your backup?

Exactly this is the case - I do a hard-reset and I can read the txt files - than I run my backup and I can`t read the txt file and the word programm is gone !!!

I think there are two things happening. First, when you restore your previous backup, the txt file association to Word is gone. You can fix this by changing the registry or using one of the tools like SKTools. As far as Word being gone, I think it's just that the shortcut is gone. You can create a new shortcut to \windows\pword.exe and it should work.

Sherpa, thanks so much- the last thing I did already but can you describe in detail how to and where to do the change in the registry with sktools ?

I do not know to change the registry - could you pls tell me where and what in concret ???

The keys you need to modify are:
\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile\shell\Open\Command\Default (change the string value to pword.exe %1)
\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile\shell\OpenDoc\Command\Default (change the string value to pword.exe -opendoc %1)

Sherpa - I don`t have the "txtfile" - so do I have to add it ? but how ???

or could you export the two files for me and I just import them - will that work ???

I have attached a zip file. Copy the two files included in the zip file and just execute both of them (tap or double-tap). Then, confirm that you want to add these keys. Once added, hold your power button until you get the prompt to turn off your phone. Do this (ie. turn off your phone) and then turn it back on. That should be it.

Does it not prompt you to add the keys when you click on the individual REG file?

You can extract the two files anywhere. Just like how you would tap on a program to execute, you would do the same with these two files. Try extracting these files on your desktop first and then copy the individual files to your device. If tapping does not prompt you to add the keys then try Resco Registry or SKTools to import the keys.

Urgent!! Need help with registry!!!!!!

I accidentally renamed a file in my registry on my HTC Fuze. It is under HKLM and it is the folder directly above the "platform" folder. I really need to fix this because my dialer and camera are all screwed up now. Someone please help!!!!!!!!!

The "folder" above is called "nls" on my Touch Pro.

I have that folder as well but there is one right before it on my Fuze, probably put there because of a program I installed or something. It contains stuff like the Audio Booster, Camera, FM Radio and a bunch of other important programs. Thanks so much for the input though.

Sorry mate, I'm afraid in this case I can't help. I've searched all entries under HKLM for a subkey containing the names you mentioned but there was none.
So it's either Fuze or ROM specific or some software you've installed.

OK thanks so much for the help. It must be that when I renamed it it moved those files for some reason. i just did a hard reset so I'll just have to reinstall everything. Thanks again for helping out.

Help! Registry Problems! HKLM

Hey guys , I went into my registry with Total Commander and my phone got a little click happy and renamed a folder in my HKLM, problem is I don't know what the folder was called! , now when my phone starts up it can't ifnd MSPOUTLOOK or MSCPROG , so i'm wondering if someone can give me a list of all the folders they have in HKLM so I can see which folder i'm missing.

MSPOUTLOOK and MSCPROG are defined in the following key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai

that's what I thought , it shows I have a Software folder in there already though , did the OS automatically create the folder again once it was renamed do you think? would i be safe deleting the current Software folder and renaming the other folder to Software?

so I went ahead and deleted it and it just regenerated itself again, how am I going to get rid of it to rename the original Software file back to how it should be.

copying all the data from the folder that was accidentally renamed into the new folder , this should work... i hope...

I have a danish version of shift.

Byt in the video are the files:

How cant i get this files?

the cab file will most prob be ok but you might have got a txt file. try changing the extension to lnk

The *.lnk file was deleted by your (companies) virusscanner.
Try setting up a gmail account on your Shift WinMo side, it won't block *,lnk files.
Install hard-spl when your done, and flash a liberated ROM, after that no more tricks needed
