My 64Gb usb flash drive works perfectly via file explorer!!!!
Xperia T supports otg flash drives natively. So not only that otg cable works, but all otg cables work.

Works well with Xperia V with official JB... Tried quickly with 8gb usb stick.
And now for the clever people who use the search: Xperia V OTG cable works.

I know this post was from a long time ago, so I'm sorry to revive this one. But I do not have this model yet and I have the intention to buy it.
So my questions are:
1. For Xperia V, should be used the CA-157 cable or another one with an external power source to use an USB memory stick (I'm not referring to an HDD, which I'm sure is necessary an external source due to 1A current)?
2. Should be root-ed to be mounted an external memory (USB storage)?

I asked above that because I tried to connect an USB memory stick to an Xperia Neo (MT15i) phone and without an external power, only mouses are working, was necessary to use an USB cable or micro USB hub with an external power to be recognized an USB memory stick.

im not too sure to be honest as it is a feature i do not use or am required to use .... if you have the stuff there give it a test and let us know how you get on ?
I just bought one Xperia V and I tested with a simple OTG cable and it's working without any external power source.
I tested with an USB memory stick and with an USB SD card reader with an SD card inserted.
The external USB device is reported on the Settings -> Storage as: "USB storage".
The USB partition is mounted at: /usbdisk.

Hi there,
I was wondering...I see that there is a possibility for the other Galaxy Tab's to connect an external storage via USB.
Is this also possible for the Tab 7" P1000? Perhaps via a custom ROM??
Greetings from the Netherlands!

In CyanogenMod 9 development thread cdesai explains USB host is possible in CM9, but only with a Y cable, not with official USB adapter from Samsung. The problem is I found in the shops the official Samsung adapter, while I believe Y cables aren't sold, so if you want to have one, you have to build one by yourselves.
You must install Samsung USB driver first.

So, all we have to do is develop a Y-cable. Could you give the link of the thread you are referring to where cdesai explains usb host capabilities.
Also could you explain what are bootloader and kernel for ?
Thanks in advance.
Let me try.
Bootloader is like the boot manager in PC, like Grub or LILO in Linux.
it contains the codes that allow you to boot to recovery and download mode.
There us primary and secondary but I don't know which is which, and they are irrelevant to USB host mode.
Kernel is the actual OS.
It contains drivers as well. The USB port drivers included.
To have USB host mode, the driver has to support that mode.
(Nothing to do with SAMSUNG USB Driver, which is on PC side)

okay so i get it. for using usb otg we require :
1. usb host diagnostics (i guess)
2. 30 pin dock connector to female usb.
3. a y-cable
Process : connect usb otg cable to the tab, then connect y-cable to the otg cable, then connect the drive. if it requires power then connect the second end to external power supply.
Correct me if i am going wrong somewhere.
But my real question is that, do we really have a working galaxy tab 7 with usb host working and cm9 installed ? even if we have, could we have the info on that ?

Even i have seen this cable on ebay. But does it really work.
I guess they work on higher versions of galaxy tab because they have usb host capabilities as a built in feature. But since p1000 doesn't support, so i am not sure it works.
The problem is that the tab do not provide enough power, USB host voltage must be 5 volts which the tab do not provide.
But try this and it should work.

i know that, thats why we need to connect a y-cable along with this and other end of the cable with power.

No I don't use it because I still need that extra power, so for me it is kind of useless procedure ''just my opinion'', and have to carry the y cable and the charger to get it work.

I made a Y cable with external power supply and downloaded the app USB Host Controller by SztupY. But when I run the app with either a jumpstick, an USB keyboard, or an USB mouse, the app couldn't recognize any of these devices was connected.

I believe neither this isn't right: we need a Y cable, that should have a port to insert the mouse, joystick, keyboard or pendrive, a port to plug and charge the tab and a dock to connect the cable to the TAB.
I believe you'll need a Y cable and an OTG cable.

I'm trying to enable OTG, I'mm already using CM11, read somewhere it had support for it but i'm not able to make it work with my USB OTG adapter and apps like USB OTG Helper or USB Host Diagnostics.
Does anyone has been sucessful with this? I read mixed reports here and there. Some roms claim to support it, there are a couple vids on youtube explaining how to do it, some recommend Omega 2 rom, which also claims to support it (but does it really work?), some say they got their phone bricked afrer trying, some say you need to change something (what?) in /system/etc/fold.stab (a file that, by the way, doesn't exist anymore in Android 4.4; I took a look at /system/build.prop but no clues).
In short: has anyone been really able to enable USB OTG? if yes, please, which kernel are you using and/or how did you make it? Please, real reports of people who has done it are preferred.
Nope, as far as I know this phone does not support OTG.
Unfortunately, no.
Its a hardware limitation of this phone. Cocafe said that he's working on a workaround (a few months back) but as far as I know he did not succeed yet. And so far, he was only able to come up with this:

Thanks a lot Sami! Indeed, I already knew of that thread but lost myself searching for OTG references there.
Also maybe it's worth to mention that there seem to be reports of USB OTG working on another Samsung phone, s8500 or Wave, that has very similar hardware and initially came without Android support (it came with Bada), so unnoficial CM and other custom ROMs have been developed for it. Maybe is there something in the sources that could be "recycled" for our model?

Cocafe is aware of it, he managed to get power output. But did not managed to make OTG to work. And he is great researcher.
Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb. And I'm aware that he was able to get power output. I understand that you are tired of people who pretend to be "useful" by just copying and pasting a couple of links. That wasn't my intention. Sorry.
Just another thought... Is it possible to get serial communication under Android (not just a recovery mode / bootloader / etc.) with one of those JIG USB cables? I mean, do they create a usable /tty device available under the operating system?
I hope someone can suggest what i am doing wrong or whathings to be done.

it does not blink all the time. blinking bright red is most probably a battery problem.
it only charges thru magnetic port. when using usb port it has a light red led indicator..
my suspect is in the sim card slot power reset...I'll try again this weekend. pretty challenging since it's weird that fastboot is okay while flashmode is unrecognized.

Genuine or counterfeit ? You should check it with a SD adapter pluged in a PC.

1 Yes
2 inserted in the pc it works well
3 p.s connected with "OTG" adapter works.
4 inserted in the smartphone is not detected
5 rom [ROM] [OFFICIAL] [10.0] [pyxis] CrDroid 6.5 [APR SECURITY PATCH]
In your case i would try another sd card just to see if the issue still exists.
If so then the sd flaw should be forgotten. Then, it may be a problem with your rom.
Finally, i would try another rom.
try to format from your computer , even you buy a fake ( you buy 128 Go and it's 5120 Mo ) it should be detected
I had similar problem in Mi 9 Lite but with SIM card. I had to pull it out and insert again a few times until it started working.

I only add info, the better is to buy samsung evo plus card because of the best speed of write in unsequential access and fact of keeping only 2 bites in one memory cell in compare to store 3 bites in one cell in sandisk ultra.

I used Link2SD many years ago, and Apps2SD some years ago. I created second partition and stored all data on second partition in devices with 8GB flash.
Today I do not use devices with small flash. (I am not sure if Apps2SD correct works in android 10).

that's why i ask as i have not really seen link2sd or apps2sd in a while. because the sd card is shared with the sim slot, and i will be using 2 sims; i want to try and understand if it is just extra storage i am giving up? or also a place to move app data to.
I used second partition for everything; aplications, libraries obb, data, dex/odex... IF APP has predelined library link you can relink directory to card too.
