wifi issues are just too much to bear, seeing as I use the hotspot feature as a main router at home.
I remember someone mentioning a pre-ics rom somewhere, think it was ginger bread but can't remember.
Anyone know what I'm going on about?

However, I never tried on 2.2. If I remember corectly, FroyoPro by IrakkarI had an .apk in the downloads section, said that it was supposed to work into froyopro 2.5.
Now, if it works, considering that rom was based on DX's work, maybe there is still hope. :

Anybody tried wifi tethering in 2.2. froyo?

Didn't work on GDX V30
wanna thank xda? here
Yup, I know, I tried that now.
edit - on an iphone...
But my argument is that may work on stock kernel if OP said so, but on froyo 2.2. and I was wondering if anyone tried.
No worries, I will try that this week-end, and report back. ok, it works. but not all devices connect....
Cheers,
so, good news!
it works, use Barnacle tethering from market.
There is a trick, though. I am no expert, so I will just tell you: My Samsung connected to X8 tether, but the Tablet did not.
My other coleague iphone did not, as well...
So, I request someone more used to wifi connection, that might explain it.
Related to dinamic IP? or mac address? or what?
Fact is, it works.
Both froyopro and gdx30!!!

Do we have any devs lurking around here willing to make a flashable.zip of the wifi calling feature for the TMO users as it will only work on their devices? I would like to run an aosp rom but really need this feature. Apps from the market just don't cut it

It requires a specific service. I'm t-mobile customer but I'm not using their simple choice plan. I can't use wifi calling either.

certain devs have included it in their custom sense roms. but will probably never work on aosp

yea but its more work than most devs want to do. maybe if you paid someone to do it or figure it out yourself. but from what i heard its a lot of work and not worth the trouble for someone that doesnt use wifi calling

Thats why this thread is directed at the developers. So they could answer as to wether they were willing or not. Payment is always an option that is not above me. If I had the coding ability to do something like this, I would not be asking for help on here.

previously the wifi calling was done through an app that was active. Now it seems like wifi calling is enabled through a system setting which mean it must be built into the framework at this point. some have been able to take the additional framework stuff and add it into international roms and then port the settings.apk that has the toggle over as well. so not sure if this will ever come to aosp.

putting it like that, I can see it being an issue for aosp. I've still got my fingers crossed that someone will take it on
there is a bug in every 4.2.2 rom i tested on my 4X that wont let my device connect to a WEP secured WiFi..
so if you are working on a great 4.3 rom please try to fix this

This is hardly news - Cyanogenod v10.x does not and (from all appearances will not ever) support WEP. It is old technology, unsecure and not worth putting the effort in to try and fix. Simply change your network to use WPA and be safer and have working Wi-Fi.
You really should be able to use your common sense to realise that if there is an identical bug in every ROM you try then it might be something more than just the ROM with a problem? The developers here base most of their ROMs on CM, but can't control the CM base.
in 4.1.2 this is working just fine, so i dont see why this cant be fixed for later versions?
whats coming next with android 5.0? disabling the sms service becouse 90% of the users are using whatsapp?
i know that wep is pretty outdated, but my router doesnt support wpa or wpa 2 and im not goining to buy a news one because of this.

The cheapest modern router is around 15-20 USD. It is really worth getting one. WEP can be hacked in minutes. You don't want your whole neighbourhood to use your wifi, do you?

This makes no sense... i bought a new router when i had this problem , because i then realised that it was outdated
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Just remove the password altogether if you are unwilling to buy a new one. Wep is discontinued because its easily hacked anyway

I've tried a few different CM11-based ROMs (4.4.4), and they all have problems jumping between wi-fi networks and even between WAPs in the same building. Toggling wi-fi off-and-on usually fixes it, but that's kind of a pain and shouldn't be necessary. I've never had the problem with Sense ROMs. Is this a known issue, and is there a 'known' fix?
Thanks for any input.

Might want to post a comment, watch the issue and vote there to let the devs know then. I don't think you can do anything else (unless you personally contact the dev(s)).
For those interested, a fix for this is nearing completion. Testing has been very successful.
This issue has been resolved, and is included in nightlies from 20141013 and forward.
So I've posted about this before, the wifi being very slow to actually start loading something ever since the release of Marshmallow 6.0. My question in this thread: is the wifi functionality part of the devices radio? Or is that strictly for phone service and data? I just wanna know if that is something that can be fixed with an update to the radio partition, or of this is just part of the system.img Thanks!

Cool! That's what I wanted to know! So wifi functionality could be better or worse when running a custom kernel in this case?

i guess, in theory. but ive not seen that actually happen ever. since i was part of trinity kernel, and did all of its testing, ill say ive ran a few kernels that "broke" wifi, but never any that made wifi worse or better. im guessing that worse or better will be the routers part. now i have seen many routers that perform worse or better.

I'm starting to think my Asus RT-N66U is at fault for my WiFi issues on Marshmallow. It's weird because it never had an issues until Marshmallow 6.0 was released. Like, the phone will stall for anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds or so before it decides to start loading something, and this seems like it's only on WiFi.
