Hi, can me tell somebody which Rom worked fine without Problems? Please not the oldest Roms.
I read something about the Cronmod but is this now for the dream or for the desire?
Which files I need exactly and where I can download all?
Some files how SPL 1.33.0013d or AmonRA Recovery I dont found to download. All links are down.
I see this showthread but when do it from there I become only my G1 Logo and not more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641692
Maybe somebody know a better Rom the run stable where I become all files on one site and not one here and the another there.
A detailed description would be nice.
I need all, because in the moment the software is a little be crashed. I want to do all new.
Thanks for help.
Does "CronMod-Dream" not give you a clue? (yes, it's for the Dream) and read the ROM Bible and G1 Oracle.

Don't install RA_Amon Recovery, use ClockWorkMod instead, it' much better imo. Install ROM Manager from the Play Store then follow the steps in the app to install CWM Recovery.
First of all, we need to know some information about your device.
Go into fastboot mode:
1. Turn off phone completely.
2. Hold the camera button and press power. Let go when you see something.
3. Write down the information on that page.
4. Pull out the battery and put back in and turn on the phone.
Now, go into Settings > About and write down everything you see there.

ClockWorkMod may have some problems flashing SPLs and Radios. Amon_Ra is definitely the better recovery in terms of stability.
sorry htcdreamon, im going to have to agree with nerdyguitarist here, of all the custom recoveries for the dream ive only never had issues with amonra 1.7
personally i say stick with it but to each there own!

Yeah, I guess so, it's just CWM has never given me any problems and I'm just generally more comfortable on it tbh. Plus things like having to have zips on the root of the sd card are annoying on Amon_RA, but maybe you just get used to it.
hey use what works, one mans opinion is just that so i dont need to change anyones mind. i have ran into issues with clockwork too many times where i try to stay away from it on any device not just the dream. granted koush deserves our respect as one of the first to make a custom recovery for any device but i just find that many have improved on his or made their own that are better

Guys, I don't have the original image and the only image I have on my SDcard is eclair 2.0-1.2
I am just upset with the OP for providing insufficient instructions and I am very unaware of the previous setup required before doing it so.
I am in recovery mode and my G1 keeps rebooting over and over since I wipe the factory default.
I apologize for not using the search button because I don't see any answers, or maybe I just want direct answer.
Sorry, I have to ask this, how do I recover the image on my G1? I have it connected to my PC but it's currently in recovery mode right now.
Please provide me detailed step to step what I need to do. Thank you for your time and effort, this is upsetting me big time.

If u r using stock recovery u should b serching for something like Fastboot or adb, if u using cyan's or RA's recovery that just find different room to flash. It would b nice to know Phones specs...SPL, Radio, REcovery etc. just like what i got in my sig.
For future references post in Q&A thread or where is the ROM u flashed is, Provide some info if u need help.

Since you're too cocky and too ignorant to do most of the things on here, I suggest you put your phone back to stock as soon as you figure out how to flash images. Get the "recovery image" from here http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html, then go ahead and get a card reader, drop the file on the reader, rename it update.zip, boot into recovery, alt+s to flash it, alt+w to wipe, then reboot.

For a person with little or no knowledge on doing all the flash stuff with the Tablets..would you say this app would help alot? Or doing it without the app is better?

Rom Manager has been known to hose some users gTabs making them very difficult to fix.
Well, the recovery hooks used by the ROM manager app cause problems with the GTablet... I recommend avoiding it!!
Yea....after all the good i read about it....i saw all the bad stuff. Too bad...that would have been the thing for me to be brave and flash. With that it made it seem pretty easy. Oh well. Gotta learn the real way soon.
Anyone on here use this with the GTab and had success???? Alot say this is not good with the GTab. Some say it is. Man...
its not worth using on the gtablet. Trust me, once you figure out how to do a few other things, you wont need this tool anyways. Start looking through this site. You will learn a lot. http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
ROM Manager is just a GUI interface to installing .zips (ROMs, updates, etc..).
However, it requires a specific version of Clockworkmod Recovery to work.
If you already have Clockworkmod Recovery on your Gtablet, it's just as easy to use it manually than hoping the Rom Manager specific Clockworkmod Recovery doesn't brick your tablet.
Donwload the ROM you want, power off and boot in to clockworkmod recovery (Hold Volume + while powering on) and select the install .zip from sdcard. Just browse to the downloaded .zip and install it.
It's best to also do a factory reset before installing a rom....and making a backup before you flash something new in case you don't like it or it has issues.
Earlier it had a lot of problems....I think they've resolved most of those issues (Rom Manager now lists the Gtablet SMB_A1002 when flashing the recovery), but it's still so simple to flash manually and not worry the risks.
Sorry if I missed the answer to this somewhere else in these forums. I've been at this for hours and have ~200 tabs open.
So I've got a Sprint HTC Hero that is rooted (I can su from both terminal emulator and adb shell) The current ROM is the stock sprint (v2.31.651.7)
I've installed CWM (v2.5.0.7) via ROM manager but no matter what I do I just get stuck at the HBOOT or Fastboot menu. I can't seem to get into clockwork... Even when choosing 'Reboot Recovery' in the ROM manager menu. Both this and reboot recovery via adb just take me to fastboot...
I've tried many, many things and just can't seem to get into any custom recovery menu. Am I doing something wrong?
Any help is appreciated.

Thank! That worked. I was able to update it using method2 in the above post and can now boot into recovery via adb reboot recovery and from ROM manager. I still can not get to CWM via any key combination at boot time. But what I have now is enough to flash custom ROMs to my device.
I may try to unlock Hboot (Currently I'm s-on and it sounds like s-off is more helpful) but from what I've read none of the methods support the newest radio and I would have to flash back to a previous version (I grabbed 1 of these .zips but CWM won't flash it.)
Anyway. Thanks again for the help and If anyone has any suggestions for getting s-off please let me know.
Even if you have to RUU, you now have the tools to get back to this point in no time flat

I've read it many times friend. As I said above the issue is that none of the methods I've found work with the latest radio. I've attempted to downgrade my radio version but the .zips I found gave errors or the download links were 404'd

What recovery do you guys prefer?
I've seen a lot of Vivids with WCX these days.
Post your experience with each one!
Stock CWM ftw
CWM still has a lot of issues. It's been causing quite a few hard bricks. Anyone that still has it, I would highly suggest switching to WCX recovery. I have yet to try TWRP but from what I've heard from all the devs, it still has a few kinks. I wouldn't recommend anything other than WCX at the moment.
I don't really see it as whats "preferred". You don't want something on your device that can potentially cause a hard brick. A recovery is something you don't use very often, so it's best to go with the one that just works.
Nice answer, right now I'm on the stock RUU ICS rom with an unlocked bootloader and I want to flash the WCX recovery, I just have to put the wcxrecovery.img in the microSD root, enter in Hboot, select recovery and then flash it with "fastboot flash recovery wcxrecovery.exe"?
Do I have to make a backup of something after doing this?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Actually, just put the wcxrecovery on your computer where you have adb and fastboot set up. If you don't know where that is, just download the wcxjb root zip from the guide in my signature and unzip it to your desktop. Enter hboot on your phone and select fastboot. Shift + right click on your computer inside the folder you just unzipped and select open a command window here. THEN, type in the command "fastboot flash recovery wcxrecovery.img" and you're good to go.

Just download and install the Android SDK for linux, what distribution are you using?
I suppose you're using Ubuntu or some .deb based distribution, this tutorial may serve for you:
Running something on "sudo" is giving superuser attributes to the processes and services that a program or whatever you are running needs to have to function properly. Yes it's important when you flash with fastboot.
If you can flash on a laptop will be better for you, a friend of mine bricked his galaxy sII when he was flashing and there was an electricity short.

I use the recovery-beta2 recovery from thecubed. I tried WCX but I couldn't get any ROM's to flash with it... nothing but bootloops for some strange reason (yes I fastboot flashed the boot.img first people). I reflashed thecubed's recovery right after having issues and flashing ROM's worked again. I'm sticking with what works and I've had zero issues with thecubed's recovery after using for several months.
I know I sound redundant, but does anyone have a link to the latest WCX recovery?
You have to download from WildChild's website.... It's included in his ROM zip. You have to have 10 posts on his site before you can download anything so be prepared to "earn" the download.

Did you use the recovery un-installer to get rid of CWM before you tried the WCX recovery? I remember some people having issues trying to use WCX over one of the previous CWMs without un-installing it first.

Some people just throw stuff out like they know what's going on... Wow get facts right first bro
Y'know if CWM loops, it's because your rom of choice had a useless ext4 performance tuning script in it that changed some of the mount options of /cache.
If you have CWM and find that after flashing a ROM that does weird things to your Vivid, just reboot to fastboot, then issue "fastboot erase cache" then boot to recovery and format /cache.
CWM hasn't caused any hard bricks, it's ROM developers that aren't properly checking their 'init.d tweaks' and updater-scripts. Now that we have s-off, a bad tweak or updater-script can and WILL make your phone hard to fix.
just used TWRP on my Sprint Gnex and love the interface! I used CWM on my old Epic 4G and it worked great too. To me, seeing all the options on that screen is easier....seems stable.

Not sure if this was directed at me but I'll assume it is. WC closed all of his dev threads on XDA (Vivid forum at least) which is why I assumed it wasn't here anymore (yes I searched before replying). Not sure that I've ever seen dev related content stuck in a [GUIDE] thread (maybe a link to the thread that has it) so not sure why this was the place chosen and probably why I missed it. Apparently I'm not the only one since I've seen multiple people asking who can't find it. I appreciate you keeping me honest though "bro".

WCX all the way, ROM's, Recovery, & Kernel. Now, I'm not trying to say that CWM doesn't work, I used it alot when I was rooting & flashing my Aria... but I've had nothing but 100% success using WCX Recovery & ROM's since before I started beta testing for him (along with all the other dedicated members).
I've never used TWRP before, & all I think about when I see that word is Big Booty Shaking!!! ;-)

I have tried to use the search but all I get is stuff of on 7 and 9 and I would like to install CM6. Anyone have a link because I just can't find it.
If you just need the CM6.x rom files, I have a boat load of them in my collection linked in my sig. You install it just like you would any other CM rom, ROM first, then the proper gapps file for the rom second _before_ booting. The gapps file you need is "gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip" also in my collection.
good luck

One thing though. I haven't done this before. Any link to a step by step.
This is the only one I have found so far:
First time flashing CM 6.1 to your Droid (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager (Don't see a ROM manager)
2. Do a Nandroid backup! (Not sure how to do this. Do I download an app for that?)
3. Update your radio if necessary (I am guessing this is a Euro term)
4. WIPE (Again no idea where to start)
5. Install the ROM ( I am sure by the time I get here I will be able to do this)
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
A friend suggested these apps:
download rom manager and clockwork recovery and nandroid.
I didn't find clockwork recovery but found another.
I just don't want to brick. I use this for my work phone. I have other options for a phone if all goes wrong but I just want to find as much info as possible before I commit.
SO many files on that page I don't know were to start???

Ahhh, I see, so you haven't even rooted your phone yet? If that's the case then I'm going to have to just refer you to some other threads/guides because you have a lot of reading to do.
I have a quite a few on my site, when in my folder, just go to parent directory a couple of times and then you will see the link for my Motorola A855 info.
Here's some more:

You can also google "SuperOneClick" and find info about that. PLEASE be careful and read all the info carefully before you proceed. Also, there are a boat load of video guides on Youtube, but most all of them are out-fo-date and will soft-brick your phone.
good luck
Go read all that stuff above, but also go to the cyanogenmod website and read the wiki for flashing droid 1.

Hello all. I just got this Motorola a855. I rooted with universal androot. (Wow easiest root ever and its always easy!) Need custom recovery and whatnot. Can somebody send a link? Ron manager doesn't work. I'm not even sure what this phone is other than an old azz a855. Its all I have right now. Any help is appreciated. I don't need much instructions just some files. Thanks for the time!
