Router question - Off-topic

Hey guys, I'm currently looking to buy a new router as my current one(belkin N300) works for a few hours than it stops giving wifi unless I reboot my modem.
It's getting quite frustrating as I want something that can work and give me signal in my house.
Any suggestions? I just got into this wifi stuff at home a day ago lol
Thanks in advance.

Try custom router firmware. I believe its called drt or something similar. I would recommend the net gear n600 or a linksys wrt-600 (I think)

7310 dropping wifi any answers

My tablet is consistantly losing internet 8-10 times daily. The signal is strong but greyed out. To regain connection I have to turn wifi on and off. I also have the the wifi set to never off, stock everything, reset factory wipe too. Any help would be great otherwise a return is my future.
Router: Vizio XRW100 802.11a/b/g/n WPA security

Not so much info about your setup, however try switching channel in router. To many neighbours with wifi can make it hard. I prefer the 5 GHz band, great performance and less traffic, and the 8.9 supports it so give it a try.
Try a wifi scanner from the market and see which channels are in use in your surroundings.
Giving your suggestion a try will let you know how it goes.

Gray icon does not mean that wifi has disconnected. It means sync is experiencing problems.

Ok I am not sure the A500 supprts 5GHz, as a last resort before returning the Samsung you could look for a firmware update for your router.
Good luck
Ok so i hard reset my router and had the 8.9 the first device to connect to my network. Set the tablet to turn wifi off while screen is off. So far after 8 hours only had trouble 1 time connecting to my wifi (after sleep it couldnt findn my wifi). Hopefully this sticks

Anyone else having major issues with wi-fi connectivity?

Just purchased the Atrix HD yesterday and when standing only 10 feet away from my router it constantly connects and disconnects. So far this has been the only issue for me. Any hacks yet for better wi-fi strength?

I had same problem. The wifi turns off 2 seconds after I turn the wifi on. I did factory reset. After the reset, it seems it solve the problem but I had other issues so I did an exchange since it was with in 14 days of the purchase. I don't have that problem with the new HD.
Try doing factory reset....

I'm having the exact same problem. Mine will connect for a period of time then just starts a wifi boot loop, as I would describe it. It tries to connect endlessly and won't unless I'm right next to the router. A factory reset didn't fix it either.

I never accepted the at&t wifi app agreement, so it was never running, but still had the same issue. It seems better now that its forced to 2.4ghz. I still have range issues. my Atrix 4G would show two bars of signal where the Atrix HD connects and disconnects constantly. Its like i have to be sitting right in front of the router to stay connected.

I wasn't having any issues last night after switching to 2.4 only. But when I woke up it was disconnected and wouldn't connect again til I was right by the router. Hopefully a software update fixes this issue.

Wow, that's cool. Didn't move, switched to 2.4 only and my signal strength doubled and my speed seems noticeably better.
Now if this helps from oovoo and Skype constantly disconnecting life will be good. To be fair the inspire is also disconnecting at random too.
I had this problem as well - it dropped if my wi-fi was 2 bars or so, and it seemed to fluctuate. Tried the 2.4 only mode and it seemed to help a little, but I still lost connection frequently at only 2 bars. It would drop and look like wi-fi restarted and then connect again at 3 bars.

I took the phone back to costco and got a new one. The phone rep connected the new phone to his wifi. I walked to the other side of the warehouse and never lost connection. Came home and the phone has not disconnected once. Must have been a hardware issue.

[Q] Weird Wi-fi issue

I love this phone but have one strange concern, I've noticed that it likes to say my Wi fi is unstable yet I know it's perfectly stable has anybody seen this or experience it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes. I have similar problems with my wifi if I have it attached to my 5GHz wireless network that I know works fine.
It is particularly bad if the router is in N+AC mode.
Once I switched onto a 2.4GHz wireless network I haven't had the problem since.
For whatever reason my note 3 wifi has been really flaky on 5GHz.
I brought this up in the stupid questions thread a few days ago.

I got this error a lot the first couple of days. I played with the wifi settings a lot, and it seems to have "settled" down.
I was getting "unstable" error sitting feet away from my router. However, I just walked around 200 feet away from wifi at work and noticed it was still connected.
Edit:spoke too soon. Doing the same thing now.

the weird thing is is that it never loses the connection and my wifi speeds stay consistent at 64mbps
I get it a lot... I tried it with my 5g and it happens once or twice a day. The 2.4 ghz is even worse it happens about 7-10 times a day. I used my MiFi and it was 3 ft from my phone and it did it as well. Not sure the cause.. I have auto switch and Bluetooth off

This has happen to me a few times also. When It happened I looked at the connection in settings and it says very strong........but yet unstable...that doesn't make sense.
yea this happened to me..never had a wifi issue on any device but I refreshed my modem & router now all is good

If you disable this, it will stop prompting you about that and will also stay connected to not so great WiFi (if you have crappy WiFi).
All wifi has unstable times. What ahent929 said to do is correct.
This phone is designed to detect a drop in the signal. That's why it says it's unstable. Even if you have the absolute best router in the world, keep in mind the other radio frequencies that are passing through yours as well vis a vis.

It should more than help, it should correct it for good and not pop up anymore about unstable anything.

Wifi is driving me crazy please help

Hello everyone I tried searching before posting this but I couldn't really find any good info
Ive stock 4,3 not rooted and I've no idea about my bootloader but most probably locked
I'm having a sudden Wifi disconnect like each 20 minutes and when I don't have a disconnect the net is terribly slow!
I'm wondering anyone else having same troubles or it's just my bad luck...

I had problem with my wifi on android 4.2.2. Problems were likely like yours. Yesterday i have flashed my phone to stock notbranded android 4.3 and it works like charm. Maybe you should think about also updating your phone with this ROM ?

Stupid question but is could it be a router problem, since you also had problems with other versions? Or do you have this problem with other wifi networks too?

Hello,
Since the official update to Android 4.3 I also get issues with wlan when I am at work.
It might connect normally at first
But after some time I notice that I do not longer get data over it and most of the time it does no longer find the wlan in the settings, everyone else however can still connect fine, however most people are using iPhones but Even a galaxy s3 had no issues so it is no issue with the access point.
I also had it 2 times that I couldn't even disable wlan anymore (active again after reopening the settings)
Funny thing is that I have no issues with my home wlan that is a fritzbox.
On android 4.2.2 I never had an issue.
Everything stock, no root.
I am using a smartwatch 2. Not sure why it got mentioned here.
Check the router for a seeing that users 2 channels at once to increase bandwidth (not a dual broadcast setting for n and g or 2.4 and 5GHz). I have seen this problem on several android phones when enabled.

WiFi problem

Okay, so I'm having a WiFi problem. We just got the Comcast arris modem/router combo, which I know isn't the best, but it was parents choice.. so I'm stuck. I get very slow WiFi speeds , .5 -4 mbps depending on closeness to router. My family and friends with other phones such as iPhones and galaxy phones are getting around 20mbps down. Things I have tried are - flashing WiFistock.zip fix, restarting router, changing channel on router, changing secruity type, disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting phone, I'm nof sure what else I can try.. I can't stream HD Video anymore and I used to watch a lot of it.. any idea and help would be appreciated , thanks in advance !

Could just be an upright router-phone problem. Phone gets full true speeds in other router coonnections. Don't see how my router could be working for others but not my HTC one.. maybe I'll just have to live with it

I don't know if this helps, but try setting your modem to b/g/n mixed rather than N only (or if its set on b/g/n, change it to N only).
I had problems with wifi and mixed modes solved them.
Will try, thanks for the tip!

Change the DSN to global and try.
Still, the problem persists. I have done as much as I can think of. Maybe I'll call Comcast and ask for a software update if it's available, not sure what else to do.
