A few days ago I have seen a tutorial how to activate the Engeneering Mode (Notmonitor) for the LG Optimus 2X. >> http://phoneftd.blogspot.de/2011/04/lg-optimus-2x-engineering-mode.html
The LG Optimus 4X HD of course is much newer, but it has also a nVidea Tegra processor and runs Android. So I think this methode could be also work with the LG Optimus 4X HD.
Can someone try it?

It worked I think. What does this do?
I can't open the link but I understand what the site says
the engineering mode code 3845#*???# works on every devices with stock rom.
"???" stands for the model number of the device.

yup, saw it, its still under development it may take some time to be completed.
I'm SU660 user.
I can't find difference between SU660 and P990. The only difference I found is button design.(SU660 has 3 buttons; P990 has 4 buttons)
When I tried to use CM9 rom, all worked fine but button does not work. I searched for that problem, and I read those have different hardwares. So can't I use P990 rom for my SU660?

You have answered yourself already. Different hardwares means different phones means different programming means rom for p990 is not for su660 and vice versa.

You need patches to make them run on SU660, but don't ask me how and where to get them..
I guess no one here in optimus thread has made such patch

If you're using SU660, check out

I believe they have instructions and a CM9-based ROM update specifically for the SU660.
Good luck!

But my Lg su660 running by gingerbread 2.3.4 v20m international OS everytime i used my device i found slow spec than P990. i don't know what im going to do?
In G2x's section there is a good Rom, the Hell fire Sandwich ... now in one post of o2x there is a topic and a link of this Rom for G2x. Can I flash it on my Optimus 2x? I think that it is impossible... And you?

O2X & G2X has different partitions layout and imcompatible with each other, that's why o2x & g2x has their own separate threads. You definately cannot use o2x rom on g2x vice versa, you will end up with a headache at the end of the day.

Yeah, but i read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570331 in O2x's Thread and in the page there is a link to G2x section with the Rom. So, if there is a thread on p990, can I flash this p999's Rom on my device? Or there is only a porting of 1.4?
Well.. it seems that it is a port from the g2x rom to o2x. Should be fine to try since it clearly states for p990. The g2x is p999.
Anyone know an ICS Rom that has HW acceleration? I've tried Nova and Hellfire Sandwich but neither has that. Suggestions. Currently runnign stable CM 7.2.
The ISC drivers that are needed for acceleration are available, but are useless until LG releases some sort of Kernel to work with the drivers to my understanding. They are obligated to release the kernel and other stuff needed for developers to build a Complete and stable rom, but no one knows when. It should be soon tho, my guess 1week-1month maybe even sooner.
Here is the website, not sure if its official or not. As you can see, the kernel currently on the site is for v20(Gingerbread I think) we need v30 which is for ICS
http://code.google.com/p/openstar2x/
Since we don't have the drivers, we can't have hw accelerated roms.. so you'd better wait for lg official update..

@Dimension 2035 Thanks for the explanation. Is it safe to assume that when official ICS for p990 drops (its out for su660) then the dev team will have the kernel they need to work with?
@Byteater Definitely won't ever do an official LG update. When I tried upgrading to official Gingerbread my phone got bricked past recovery, luckily the guys i bought it from sent me a new one and so instead I just flashed CM 7 the next time and it works great... prolly better than official LG ICS when that comes out.

There is only one place I know that may bring ICS to the P990 and that is LG Singapore. If they do it will be Perfect!
Here is a discussion thread about it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851702

you don't need to upgrade the phone to official ICS. But the official release (with source codes) will help devs to extract drivers and to insert them in cm 10 roms

isn't that JB driver for tegra 2 is different with ICS?? so we need to wait for LG to release JB for o2x right??

NO!
we have to wait for the sources otherwize we wont know what to do with the binaries, also, 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 didnt suffer such drastic changes as its made obvious by the very small difference from 1 to the other, theyr both 4. something, so theyr almost the same except for some optimizations in jb if i didnt understand wrong. bottom line is, as soon as we get the sources well have a fully working cm10 rom in very little time, drivers are all thats missing since only camera doesnt work properly now... (at least in the cm10 rom im using(tony. p's hackfest)
I'll be waiting patiently for the developers to work their magic I guess!

Hi.
I'm using Nova HD rebuild ICS CM9 ROM on my Optimus 2x and i'm very happy with it but I'm missing HW support. It was said that the devs couldn't do anything until LG releses update for ICS. This is what I found on internet:
"Android 4.0 now available for LG Optimus 2X... in South Korea, anyway" (sorry I can't post a link...it's on engadget.com)
so would this help or are we still just hopping nont to be stuck on GB.
Tnx for answer.
Is there any chance to find right now the Ui 3.0 launcher, locksreen and weather widget from optimus 4x ; and to install them on CM10?
It requires the framework of lg stock rom, so flash the lg official ics rom or you could wait developers' work

Right now: no.
It needs to get ported, which is not that hard but an ugly work.
The real problem is LG (as always). No one wants to do it with the ICS version but waits for LG UI for jellybean.
Unfortunately LG as still sucks hard with their updates.. so you have to either wait or use the Stock ROM is it's that important for you.
