thanks everybody

No way to inject CWM in stock rom
You need to install a custom rom like IZS or Marvel v11

use your KDZ file if you got it.
im a noob and i hope my suggestion is ok

With this, you can simply brick your phone..

Why brick the phone may I ask, I'd like to know cause I'm planning to flash a stock patched ROM in the. Next week or so.
And if this met hood isn't safe. Then what is the solution??
And if its too dangerous I'll stick to marvel v11, especially, since it run great.

Injecting cwm into a v30 ROM will cause a security error-aka brick the device. For v20 so GB ROMs and below it works fine. we'd have to inject a v20 bootloader+patched v30 kernel/boot.img+a recovery. Injecting the bootloader in deed works, but if it fails for ANY reason, it might permanently brick your device!

thanks for that info, for a noob like me it sounds complicated enough to make me stick to what i got if its working  you made me scared  im not rich enough to buy a new cell phone. so marvel v11 will be here for now.

sry for asking, i seen your thread of v30b repack, i thought you made it with the CWM or TWRP recovery support, is there a differnece between the UAE rom and the one you repack?
btw my question is for pure knowledge, my country doesn't have ICS version, so i wonder if there is a big difference between those roms, cause except the local language and as far as i understood since i start diggin around here, i guess that maybe the baseband will be a bit different, what else may different between the regions of ROM
thanks devs

Always depends on the carrier, but mostly you mentioned the most important things. Sometimes apps are different, basband, language and here it seems they also updated the kernel source, since it is 3.0.8+ instead of just 3.0.8, but as long as we dont have sources, we cant really tell well basically you need to take the system.img, a new boot.img, with fixed cmdline args, repack it, like I did, flash it in cwm or twrp and that s it. No real magic behind it. You can probably even use my old blue led fix kernel. Just replace the system.img in my repack with this one. You ll find the tools to extract that stuff in Dev section. Bin/fls extractor and the bin extractor made by xonar. Then you ll have all partitions. Rename the system.img you get to system.img, replace it in my repack, flash, done.

Thank you.
hope this will help OP to make his version work with the UAE.
btw i think i will try and dig the bin file if there is ics for Egypt, may be ill find hebrew local there. but probably its just for the digging not for try to change anything in the ROM. cause i do have the knowledge
thanks again and again for the info. you guys teaching me a lot around here.

I ended up going to v10 in order to flash CWM. Then went with CM 10.1

So, I'm new to Galaxy S. Need Help :)

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

That link for flashing Team ICSSGS has help for everything else. From downloading stock rom to flashing with Odin to flashing ics (in this case team icssgs)
You could potential substitute Team ICSSGS for AOKP.

Great
and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.

Yea, I got a lots of help by this thread..
Thanks all!
Now, The only problem I'am experiencing is a little more battery drain when compared to GB.
I am gonna experiment with modems..

[Solved]Need some help , :)

i am quite confsed..
i am a developer from htc wildfire s forum..
i have my brother owning galaxy note..
i flashed the CM10 (unofficial ) on my device he was quite impressed with the JB in such a low end phone.. (htc wildfire s is armv 6 with only 600 mhz with no support for hd gaming.. not even temple run works on it )
so he said me to root his device.. n flash the CM10 rom in it..
so as the guide said i rooted the phone..
(i also installed mobile odin n triangle away from market )
then i googled n realised there is something called binary counter..
n then i also realised that many users are having problem in flashing the CWM. (its kernel dependent i guess,, n i dont know which one to use.. i flashed the hydracore v3 kernel)
so i am likke WTF how to back up the rom?
N now if i want to flash a rom i can do it with odin.. but then how will i revert back to my ICS(the current rom ie the stock rom ,)
can plz someone answer to my questions...
LONG story in Short :
1) how to backup (without increasing the counter)
2)How to restore backup without getting the device bricked.
Root device and flash safe kernel(e.g.Hydracore) with Mobile odin
(2nd link on my signature, use method 1 to root, and use mobile odin to flash safe kernel)
After flashing safe kernel you will have CWM advance recovery, which have backup/restore function

Check rooting guide in Dr.Ketan's sig, you will find all methods to root there.
In method 1 you have to root first and then you can flash custom kernel using mobile odin or pc odin (flashing custom kernel will also install cwmr)
method 2 is flashing custom kernel using pc odin it will root and flash cwm recovery too.

Proly when those thread were created, there was no safe ICS custom kernel, now we have lots of them, You can use Hydracore kernel. So basically as long as you are on any safe kernel, you can restore and backup using cwmr without any danger of brick (provided that you follow correct procedure, lol)

It depends on your requirement, I have tried almost all custom roms available for Note from CheckROm (GB) to PA CM10 and they are are too good. But I always prefer stock rom for long run (again personal choice). As of now using stock LR6 with mods.

[Q] Need a better unrooted ROM

HI Friends,
I was using custom roms before, but now i have reverted back to LG ROM v20G(india) android 2.3.4.
Since, i was not able to install some applications(for my office email and communicator) due to rooted device error, so i reverted back to LG ROM.
But after installing few applications my mobile became very slow, every time i have to clean RAM using task manager.
Is there a better ROM(unrooted ROM) suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

No way... Except for removing them before even flashing the ROM. But I think you are a bit wrong though. What ROM did you use before? I mean, while you were rooted? And what apps exactly havent you been able to install? Sounds strange to me...

HI N00BY0815, Thanks for yor reply.
Earlier i was using zeus 7.03 ROM and there i was able to install the zenprise application but it was not able to configure properly and used to get error like "This device is rooted" something like that. Bcz of this i was unable to configure the MS Exchange email and Microsoft Lync 2010 apps(bcz they are dependent on zenprise to get my enterprise server details).
Now i have reverted to LG stock ROM v20G and able to configure everything successfully and all are working.
But my mobile becoming damn slow, and it is showing only 23 mb RAM is free. :crying:

Hmm maybe you could still use Zeus ROM, but with a minor change in kernel, that is to change
ro.secure=0 to ro.secure=1 in ramdisk. This will pretend, the cell is still unrooted and thus everything should install just fine. Though you might get some problems with some apps, that need root.
Can some1 upload a flashable zip of this, since I dont really have time currently? Just decompile the boot.img with dsixda's android kitchen, change that line and recompile it. Flash and your done

Did you already try a rooted stock ROM, which has to be flashed via Smartflash? It's quite simple, since there also is a video guide (check my how to, post #3 includes the link to the thread with the video). Then you ll have root, but kernel will still state ro.secure=1. So you can almost do everything you want, but the phone will still think, it's still unrooted. Just pick the same version as you already have in kdz format (e.g. v20n, v20O, v20s,...) extract it with the tool mentioned, inject cwm, flash superuser.apk, dont wipe anything and you ll have root and all your data still. If it still detects the phone as rooted then, you ll have to go back to stock and reinstall everything, but it's still worth a try Then you can uninstall all LG crap apps and will have more free ram. Or you wait for anyone to provide an unrooted ROM with all unnecessary apps removed and maybe some tweaks enabled
Hey do not install v20g its the worst update given by lg India.
I to installed it and even lg service centre guy reverted my ob to previous version saying that v20g is faulty.

oh!! sorry, i want an unrooted ROM.
MIUI is has no superuser
apps can't access root (though i found that solid explorer was able to look at system files but not modify things)
if your apps do not work because of root access, try MIUI JB

It will probably still be recognized as rooted, because the kernel will still state: ro.secure=0, which equals a rooted device. Of course, I dont really know, how this app detects, if the phone is rooted. It might also be the superuser.apk, but I dont really think so...

There is two ways. Look at ro.secure or call /bin/su and see if it works. If a app only wants to check and not ask for permissions then I think they'll look at ro.secure

[Q] Beginners help of which ROM to choose

Hello everybody!
I have joined XDA-Developers forum today and read a bit about rooting my GT-I8190. Here are the SPECS:
Code:
CSC: I8190OXXAMA2
PDA: I8189XXAMA2
ANDROID VERSION: 4.1.2
BUILD NUMBER: JZO54K.I8190XXAMA2
REGION: NEE (according to Kies)
So I want to root my phone. Mainly to be able to fully use BetterBatteryStats, install Titanium Backup and perhaps remove apps.
Kind of like spring cleaning.
I don't want to change my phones look and feel to much. If there are improvements I won't say no. Currently I'm having battery problems and WIFI problems...
Anyhow.. Looking around I think I've found a couple of ROMS that seems to fit my description. But then I think it's hard to compare and choose of which one I should use and therefore I need your help..
Almost forgot.. Since this is a Phone from work I need to be able to go back to original eventually.
Here are the ROMS I found:
[ROM][CWM] Stock I8190XXAMA2 4.1.2 - BenzROM V3
[ROMS][JZ054K.I9190.XXAMA1][4.1.2-Jelly-bean] [26.01.2013] V5.1
[ROM] I8190XXAMA1_I8190XAAMA1_4.1.2 V2 and V3 [ONLINE]
[ROM] Jelly Bean 4.1.2 I8190XXAMA4_I8190XXAMA2 rooted only [23.02.2013]
[ROM] I8190XXAMA3_I8190XXAMA2_Jelly_Bean_4.1.2_rooted [17.02.2013][ONLINE]
Please help me choose or give me pros and cons...
Also feel free to suggest other ROMs
I would go for benzrom v3 its very good.

There is a few pre-rooted firmwares here also that you didn't mension. Maybe you havn't seen them yet.
I'm using I8190XXAMB3_I8190XXAMB3 and I'm happy with it. Best battery time of the ones I've tried I think.
Usually on NEE too, but countrycode only matters if you rely on OTA-updates or updates through kies, which I don't. I get my updates here
Most important is to pick a firmware for your region.(Europe)
Of the ones listed in the poll I would go for BenzRom v3. Stable, fast and good battery. Or maybe wait for his v4 to come out...
Stick with BENZ ROM. Lots Of people agree.

Ok I will try Benz ROM.
So to use it I have to erase my phone.. That means i should check the box Re-Partition when uploading the ROM with Odin?
@tys0n, no I didn't see those ROMs before.
Also since I don't have 10 posts and cannot post on developers forum(the Benz ROM thread). I ask here. Do I really need an account on 4shared to download the ROM?

Yes

ok, good, yes to re-partition.
But I have a problem Odin 3.07 will not accept .zip files as input when pressing the PDA button and browsing for the firmware. It's looking for files with other file formats.
Do I need to flash this phone with something else before using Benz ROM?
Cant you read? Where does it say flash with Odin?
You flash in CWM not Odin.

Well it apparently was a bad assumption by me.
So I need to install another ROM with root via Odin and then install CWM and from there install your ROM?

Easiest would be to flash cwm from odin and then flash "rom.zip" from cwm.
Last but not least, use triangle away to reset the flash count.

What would be the best option if your region is not listed? Specifically the U.S. (T-mobile).
