First one is: Can't drag and drop ftf file's in Flashtool.
Seccond can't get the phone in flashmode/Fastboot mode.
Light flashing bleu, but no reaction.
On windows 7 all was fine.
I hoop somebody knows the anwsers.
Re: Few problems with Windows 8
Please search before posting. The driver issues with Windows eight had many threads about it. It's a Windows problem not a phone problem. You need to install the drivers via safe mode on your pc
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
With Windows 8 to install the drivers you must search for "Advanced Startup" (Or you can keep down shift and then press reboot), then I think you go to "Advanced Options" then "Windows Start up Options"
Once you have done this your PC will reboot, select "Disable driver signature enforcement"
Then Installing drivers should work (It did for me)
I might have missed some stuff out, I did this from memory, I now have Ubuntu.
Windows 8 drivers are working now so thank you both for that.
But still can't drag and drop ftf files in flashtool.
And can't find the answer onxda.

Which version of flashtool have you got?
Its been inoperatin for quite a few versions now and should say in the open window that you can drag and drop ftf files here for flashing
I'm on the newest version Flashtool Version 0.9.10.1.
Should i try a older version?

Nothing thats the problem.
Device is connected
- INFO - Device connected in flash mode
But can't do anything.
I can get in fastboot, and flash a boot.img.
But the rom (.zip) is not working and backup is broke somehow.
And dont know how i can't get in the sd card.
As i dont got a cardreader for it.

Are you trying to drop a FTF file or .zip file? Flashtool wont work with a .zip only ftf. If the ftf is in a .zip you need to extract it first.
secondly,
You can attach the phone to the PC via usb cable and get access to the sd card via windows explorer, you can just copy it over that way if its a .zip to be flashed in recovery
In flashtool only ftf file's afcorse.
But i realy can't get in the sd cart via windows.
Becouse the phone wil not boot.
I only see a grey triangle.
I can't get it to work.

OK, thats normal, just leave the phone plugged in, I had to leave mine for quite a while. It will boot eventually
And you do not have to just drag and drop the ftf file, you can always browse for it.
Click on the flash button, click flashmode then naviagte to the folder where you have the ftf using the dialogue box that opens up.
Ok flashtool is working when i brows for it.
Now i did relock te bootloader, so i can repair it with pc companion.
But now it stil wont boot and the phone is not reconised bij windows or Pc companion.
Stil grey triangle.
I realy dont know how i can fix this.
How long must i wait?
Re: Few problems with Windows 8
Press power & volume up until the device vibrates 3 times (without any cable attached) start up SUS (Sony update service(download of you don't have it )) and follow on screen instructions, or use flashtool to flash a stock ftf.

After re-rooting your phone you can once again install GingerDX.. Just don't mess with settings you're not sure of
PC companion not work cuz i cant boot my phone =( im stuck in sony ericson, and where i can find SUES? ty
SEUS is no longer available... you have to plug your phone into the computer, remove the battery, on PC companion it will say "Repair this phone" in small lettering, click that then with your phone connected to the computer via USB hold the back button and put your battery in, this will put your phone into Flash mode and allow PC companion to repair your phone
i love you dude, thank you, i will not mess up again with that XD, btw i have a year using this website is awesome, i was trying to learn more about Xrecovery and CWM ty!!
What do you mean you have a gear using this website?
CWM and Xrecovery can be dangerous..
No problem!
haha my bad, "year", btw PC companion cant find a software to install, right now im talking to Sony ericson.
i think cuz i have other baseband =S
Hmm, I had this problem, just yesterday infact, I still had access to recovery though... I'm not sure what you should do, I think SE will tell you to send the phone back to them to be honest..

Guys, forget PC Companion (PCC) and Update Service (SEUS) ...
If your phone still gets to the Sony Ericsson Logo, or still shows some sign of life so you can be sure that the bootloader and kernel (STOCK Kernel - I don't know if this works with custom kernels as well) is still alive, restore your device this way:
Make sure you have a Java Runtime installed.
If you're on a 64-Bit Windows Edition you NEED to have the 32-Bit JRE installed!
Make sure you have the Android drivers installed
(should already be the case if you installed PC Companion / Update Service)
Download Flashtool 0.2.9.1
Extract it to C:\Flashtool
Download Android 2.1.1.C.0.0
Copy the "X8_2.1.1.C.0.0._un.ftf" you just downloaded INTO the "firmwares" folder inside the Flashtool directory.
Disconnect your phone from the computer and turn it OFF!
Now start the X10FlashTool.exe in C:\Flashtool
Plug the USB cable into JUST your phone (NOT into the computer!).
Click "Flash" in Flashtool and select X8_2.1.1.C.0.0._un.ftf you copied into the Firmwares folder.
In the next window don't do anything, just click "OK"
Flashtool will show you a window about what you have to do:
- PRESS and HOLD the BACK button of your phone.
- Connect the USB cable to your computer. Keep the button PRESSED!
- If Windows is nagging about installing drivers - let it do its job. Keep the button PRESSED!
- Once you see output happening in Flashtool's window you can release the back button of the phone.
Patiently wait until flashing finished.
Now, as Flashtool will tell you ... disconnect the phone and turn it on.
BE PATIENT - the first boot can take a few minutes.
Once the phone booted up ...
Enable "Unknown Sources" and "USB Debugging" in your phone's settings.
Connect the phone back to the computer.
Press "Root" and let Flashtool root the Droid.
A automatic reboot will follow!
Once the phone finished rebooting ...
Press "Ask root perm" and look at your phone. You will get a popup from Superuser to grant su permissions. Confirm the request!
Now click "xRecovery" to inject xRecovery into your phone.
Done ...
Now you can go ahead and install a xRecovery compatible ROM (i.e. FroyoPro).
Download the ZIP you want to flash and push it to your phone's SD card. Example:
adb push C:\Users\<your_username>\Downloads\FroyoPro-v1.1.zip /sdcard
(you need to input that command in a Command Prompt)
If you want GingerDX back on your phone ...
- Download GingerDX v013 and copy it onto your phone's SD card (i.e. by ADB)
- Download GingerDX v020 and copy it onto your phone's SD card (i.e. by ADB)
- From Flashtool make the phone to reboot into xRecovery.
- Flash GingerDX v013 in xRecovery.
- Reboot
- Keep tapping on the screen once the Sony Ericsson Logo appears to get into CWM.
- Flash GingerDX v020 in CWM.
- Full-Wipe ("Factory Reset")
- Reboot
I just revived my X8 a few hours ago by this way after a update flash went terribly wrong for reasons I'm not able to tell.
ty, and ive trying to fix it but nop, nothing.

So my question is, am I doing something wrong and if so, please advise.

thats better you now have a ADB device installed, you should now be able to put your phone into flashmode
power off your phone with usb diconnected, hold vol down and reconnect turned off phone to usb and you should now get green led and flashtool will say device connected in flashmode but you only have about a min in flashmode before phone reboots
Thank you for your help and effort but even now it keeps disconnecting device. I don't know where the problem is, maybe I'm not doing something as I should.
This is the procedure I was trying:
1) I select Flash device in flash tool
2) I select Flashmode mode
3) I choose which firmware to flash and click Flash so flash tool can start it's magic
4) When flash tool shows message that I can remove my device from USB and turn it off I do so
5) I also press volume down and reconnect the device with the PC.
6) Problem happens here
what about if flashtool isnt ready to flash file, does flashtool pick it up (4 and 5)
it will say device connected in flashmode with green led
Yeah, it does pick it up and displays a message "Device connected in flash mode" and after awhile "Device disconnected".

hey guys,
hopefully someone can help me, i'm trying to unlock my bootloader to install custom kernels.
here is when i think it goes wrong:
i'm using sony's official method but when i connect the phone in fastboot mode the computer doesn't ask for drivers like it should (says in instructions).
so i can't choose the modified driver that i've downloaded from the instructions.
thanks in advance!

even after a fresh install of my computer i can't get it to work.
i searched on google and found out that there are some issues with windows 8.
but after following specific instructions on windows 8 it still isn't working.
then i took an old windows vista computer from the attic and tried it with that.
it atleast asks for drivers but when i get the option to select the drivers myself it instantly disappears because the phone only stays in fastboot for about 10 seconds.
only thing i can think of is installing XP on my old system but is it normal it stays in fastboot for only 10 seconds? then it switches to charging mode.
unlock bootloader allowed is yes!
Download and install flash tool.
Run drivers.exe from the install folder.
Choose fastboot, flashmode and TX drivers.
Then try again for unlocking

EDIT
W8 is a known problem with drivers. That's why is was failing before. Vista or W7 should work fine.

got the drivers installed on my w8 system with flashtool, now the phone stays in fastboot (blue light)
then my next problem
Open a command window and go to the tools folder within the Android SDK folder.
Enter fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version, and verify that you get a response back (for example "0.3"). This means your device is connected properly.
there is no fastboot.exe in the tools folder of sdk..
there is one in some folder of flashtool, can i use that one to complete the last point of the instruction?

Then I downloaded the stock sony xperia z ftf image, placed it in Flashtool's firmware folder, then flashed it (flash device > flash mode).
Now my phone's working again.

If you still can enter custom recovery, you only need flash rom and (with) suitable kernel.
If not, you need Flashtool.
- make sure you have the newest version of flashtool and driver
- connect your phone to pc.
- when computer show error about usb not recognized, go to computer management - device manager. Find something in universal serial bus controller list that have yellow triangle and exclamation mark. right click and remove it
- disconnect your phone then reboot your pc
- install flashtool and driver, reboot pc again
- connect your phone to pc. Now, it should detect your phone.
- do flashing procedure

Is it Windows 7 or 8?
So I'm trying to use flashtool to flash a ftf file but my phone leaves flashmode after a few seconds. When this happens flashtool says "device disconnected" and my phone starts to recharge.
I've installed the drivers that come with flashtool and my pc is windows 7.
What do I do now? :/

Oh well would you look at that! It's been a long time since I last used flashtool and didn't bother to check how it goes again.
Thank you very much!
