[Error] Gnote dont recognize simcard after factory reset. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I did an update for ICS 4.0.4.
Everything was ok.
But after 3 weeks using this rom, I did a factory reset (*2767*3855#) and now my Gnote (GT-N7000) dont recognize any sim card.
I think this is not a problem related with IMEI. The IMEI number on the stiker in the back is the same when I put *#06# or access via menu.
Now in the notification bar appear "No SIM - Insert SIM Card"
-----------
What I've done:
Check if simcard is not inverted (no, it is not)
Try my simcard in another phone (yes, this works)
Try another simcard in my phone (not work)
Do the factory reset again (not work)
Put the 4.0.4 rom again via ODIN (not work)
Upgrade to 4.1.2 via ODIN (not work)
Downgrade to 2.3.6 (not work)
Upgrade to 4.0.4 via Kies (not work)
Please, I need help to solve this problem!
Sorry about my english.
Thanks in advance,
Yuri

Have you checked that your IMEI (*#06#) matches the one below the battery?? Were you running stock 4.0.4 kernel when you wiped?
What happens in Odin PC when you try to flash firmware again? What is the error?

Yes! They match!
No errors. Odin PC recognize my phone. I can flash a firmware and the process finish without errors.
I heard that do this kind of reset in a rom above to 4.0.x can brick the device. Is this right? (I hope not)

Yes it is...anyway, if it is finishing fine, that doesn't seem to be your problem. I would suggest that you flash a safe kernel and continue from there just in case.
Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

Try formatting it again. (To fat32).
If possible use your pc to do so.
Then try again...

as per the stickies have you ever backed up your efs.. if you have it then restore it otherwise try the following method
Download "Terminal Emulator" app from market
- open it
- type into the command:
su
echo -n ON > /efs/imei/keystr
sync
Go to home, force close your terminal app, shut your screen off, and when your turn it back and now reboot your phone
Obviously you must be rooted so don't ask for it. Hope this works for you

Galaxy S Os upgrade questions.

Searching the forum constantly, but I figured I'd ask at the same time.
Heres what i have:
Galaxy S
Rooted
Froyo 2.2
Baseband I9000UGKC1
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #4
Buikd FROYO.UGKC1
I've Rooted and Unlocked. I require UNLOCK.
I'd like to upgrade my OS to either JB or ICS whichever is the most stable and smooth. (I'm looking for iPhone smooth.)
I think I'll use Cyanagenmod and Clockwork recovery.
Will This remove my unlock? If so. Is there a way to unlock ICS or JB?
Suggestions, Tips please.
Thanks a bunch.

First backup your important files to your PC than you must first upgrade to gingerbread 2.3.6 only than you should and can flash ICS and after that JB. you can do the gingerbread upgrade by using KIES or ODIN, and flash again with a semaphore kernel which will give you CWM + root using Odin, after that backup your EFS before flashing ICS using CWM and finally JB with CWM
Thank you. Didn't realize I had to go gingerbread first. Could have ended badly...
By re flashing I lose my unlock. Yes?
There is a way to unlock in JB?
Thanks again.

No, you won't lose your unlock, Read your wiki page for guidance http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series
Sorry for the late reply. I've been fighting for two days with Kies.
I can't get my phone to connect with it.
I believe its a driver issue.
I can let windows find the driver. Phone then is recognized by windows. But doesn't connect to kies. I get an error message.
Tried following the troubleshooting guide in Kies. It installs driver. No connect.
Went to Samsung for driver. No go with Kies again.. I get a message from windows saying my device can perform better using a usb 2.0 port. I was on a 2.0 port.
Got a driver from xda wiki. Same results.. I cannot get kies and my galaxy to work together.
Tried different usb cable (official Samsung). And different USB port.
I'm lost...
**Update**
I just tried on an XP machine. Same thing. 'can't connect to device, please disconnect and try again'...
Should i try a factory restore and start over from the beginning?

just uninstall KIES, leave the USB drivers, and connect with ODIN to flash a gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM according to your region from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 than root with a semaphore kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908 , you will also get CWM with this kernel.
No use wasting time trying to get KIES to work, this is happening to a lot of people , could be due to Microsoft's competition with Samsung. you can get all your softwares , tools etc from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29331775#post29331775

Did I Brick it? I could access Download mode. Tried recovery. now I have the Phone ! PC screen...
appreciate any help now... I'm without a phone.
Obviously, your flashing process was interrupted.
First of all, did you backup your data?
2nd, Go to Download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down) then reflash Gingerbread via ODIN.

Nope, not bricked, Did this happen after you flash ROM or after you flashed the semaphore kernel? anyway...
1) reboot PC as well reboot phone after a battery pull, also take out SIM Card as well as your EXT SD card , reisert battery after pressing power button for a min
2) make sure you had uninstalled the KIES only leaving the Samsung USB drivers
3) go into download mode and flash again the ROM as per instructions on that page.
IF not you can use a i9000 rescue or resurrection kit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29331775#post29331775 , has guides there too
BTW make sure you have good battery charge at least 50% before you flash and never interrupt flashing process

Thank you so much! Without your help. I'd be knee deep in threads and various topics that made no sense to me.
It was battery.. I gave it a full charge and tried again. Worked. Sorta... Still had a boot loop after flashing GB. Got fed up and hit restore. Upon reboot. GB was there... Flashed sephamore with 0 issues. Running like a charm.
One last thing. Is ICS worth it if GB is working fine? I mean what are the benefits of ICS over GB? My friend swears by ICS on his RAZR should I worry about it on my 9000M?
Big thanks again. Cheers! :good:

[Q] is my i9000 bricked?

My i9000 respond to Downloading Mode (Volume Down+Home+Power) but it doesn't boot...the logo stay on and on until I decided to take off the battery.
Is there a foolproof method to recover my phone? It was locked to T-Mobile and has been unlocked to all networks and rooted - the ROM was Gingerbread 2.3 and working perfectly until I decided to "upgrade" to Jelly Bean...:silly:
I did backup the previous ROM via CWR but right now I can't access any partition...
Help!

Does ODIN recognize your phone when you're in download mode? If so, you should be able to flash gingerbread without losing all your data.

thanks for your reply....
Yes Odin recognize my phone and I've tried to update using "JW4" (these 3 letters represent the end of a ROM file which isn't Gingerbread - I've followed this tip from another thread) - Odin says PASS (green box) but when I try to reboot the phone get stuck in Recovery mode (3?) - there are some errors, related to Data and Cache which I believe need to be erased from previous install but still no luck...
I'll try to post a picture of the error messages (or maybe I just copy the text here). At least the booting gives some signals now - there is a logo loop while before there was no boot whatsoever - so, things seems to improve a bit.
solved!
I've solved the problem by installing dbdata.rfs:
hope this helps others....
in the end I got into troubles because I didn't wipe data and cache before flashing the new ROM.

Lost IMEI and USB access!!

Hi guys I need your help! I'm feeling a little nervous right now. I flashed a rom which was intended for i9000 to i9305 (LTE).
I no longer have an IMEI number and cannot use my USE cable.
I'd like to set my phone back to stock rom. I want my entire phone to be as if I just bought it brand new. Can you plz help me and tell me what to do in order to recover my IMEI and then flash the stock rom??
Thank u!! Xx
That's bad..

Hi,
Can your enter *#1234# on your dialer and post what is write or a screenshot!?
I had the same problem last week after unknowingly flash a rom with "NAND Erase All" checked in Odin. I am not able to recover it, but let me shared what I did. Root your phone, download "triangle away" from App Store to reset your binary counter, then do a factory reset and next flash back stock rom to unroot condition. Send back to service center and tell them a story! They had my motherboard replaced under warranty. Hope this helps!

Before Triangle Away, he have to check in download mode what about status.
Usually, If you not flash with a custom ROMs or root your device, it's not necessary.. But I don't really know about status and flash counter when you flash an incorrect Stock ROMs
I have the same problem. I flashed a rom which was intended for i9000 to i9305 (LTE).
Now my imei number is nul/nul and i cant call or send message.
After enter *#1234# i have this:
AP: I9305XXBLL5
CP: Unknown
CSC: I9305 DTMBLL4
Is there any solution or send phone to service?
Hi,
You can try this to restore your efs/ partition (IMEI)

Recovering IMEI And Data Connection After Flashing WRONG Root Package Intended For I9300:
Make sure you have Samsung Kies or the Samsung USB Driver installed on your PC.
Download and Extract: Odin3 3.04.zip - 457.11 KB to your PC if you don't already have it.
Download and Extract: Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB to your PC.
With your Phone Switched Off, press and hold: 'VOL DN' + 'HOME' + 'POWER' to enter Download Mode.
Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable and start Odin.
Check your phone is connected by seeing if a COM Port in a Blue box is present under ID:COM.
Press the 'PDA' Button and select the 'Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5' file you extracted from the Zip Archive earlier.
Press the 'Start' Button and wait for it to finish flashing. If successful, you will see a Green Box with 'PASS!'.
Wait for your phone to reboot then go to your Dialer and press: *#06#. You should now see your IMEI and your Data Connection will be back.

[Q] emergancy calls only

Hello, two days ago I had a flight, and during the flight time my phone was in Flight Mode, when we landed I turned off flight mode and my phone ha s no signal 'emergancy calls only'. Have tried few different sim cards which had worked one years ago in this Country (UK). Tried: wipe, rom reinstall (Cyanogenmod 10.1), installed stock 2.3.6 GB rom. Can anyone help?
try flashing stock jvu firmware using odin without simcard inside
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Finished flashiink few minutes ago, has not solved my problem :/
try your sim in another phone and see if it's working !!!
I tried 3 different cards, which works on other phones. Maybe my phone locked?
does your sim have a pin code ? does the phone request for it after the boot ?
Sim's does not have pin codes
Have you tried to manually select the network..?
I tried, but I dont realy know that I do it right
Is there any network showing when you did the manual search.? If no, I'm afraid its a radio problem
yes, phone Finds 5 signals
Bingo..! So you still have hope. Let me check the soln. I'll get back to you if I found one..
If it helps, my sim is from Lebara carier
Is your home network showing in those 5 networks.!
Yes
What's the reply you getting when u trying to catch it manually..
Also check you can see the imei of your phone. Type *#06#
Registerting, then "Can't connect to this network at the moment, please try again later" imei is correct
Try this. I'm not sure it works or not. Give it a try if you want to.
1. flash the device again with the modem image (download the firmware of your device from samfirmwares.com, delete everything from the .tar file except modem.bin, and then flash this file to the phone with Odin (you can get Odin and instructions from that site too)
2. maybe your nv_data.bin file or /efs directory got corrupted, make a backup of the folder, then simply delete nv_data.bin, it will be recreated for you on Galaxy S.
For this, you’ll need root. If you have a root-enabled kernel, like the Voodoo lagfix kernel, you only have to install the Superuser app and Busybox on the phone, download the Android SDK to your PC, install platform-tools in the SDK manager, go to the platform-tools directory and start adb shell.
In the shell, type su, wait for the Superuser prompt to appear on the phone (if it does not appear, open the Superuser app and try executing su again), enable root access for the command. Now go to /efs, copy everything to for example /sdcard/efs, then rm nv_data.bin.
Reflashing the device with a kernel and checking “phone EFS clear” in Odin also works (make sure you made a backup of the EFS folder just in case).
3. you can try changing the CSC (to XEU for Europe): enter *#272*imei# on the phone tab. Note: this will reset your phone to factory settings, so make sure you did a clockworkmod backup before this. Incorrect CSC setting may cause MMS not working also.
4. check if you inserted the SIM card correctly Try this . I'm not sure it works. Just give it a try on your responsibility.
---------- Post added at 03:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 AM ----------
Check any of the first 3 methods works or not.
Try what @jabrif said if it's not working try this :
Flash your phone with GB firmware
check if your sim is working , if it's complete with this :
root your phone
flash cm9 ( ics 4.0.4 )
check if your sim is working , if it's complete with this :
flash the rom based on cm 10.1 or 10
check your network signal
good luck
When I flashed GB rom JVU, it hasn't solved my problem. Maybe something wrong with efs folder?

[Q]What should I do? (Bricked Phone)

Hello, this is my first post, but no one cares. Right?
I have a little story... Today I tried to Upgrade from CM 10.1 to CM 10.2 but I had a little problem. Because I wanted to have a fresh instalation I first tried to flash with ODIN 3.0.4 official 2.3.6. In the middle of instalation... I had a power outage for 5 seconds. Now my problem is:
1. It can't enter Recovery;
2. It can't enter Download Mode;
3. It can't boot System.
When i plug the usb cable, it shows me this message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again. ", but that's a little strange because I don't even have Kies installed on PC. This is the only scree I can see.
I don't know how, but somehow I entered Download Mode for 5-10 seconds, but my PC doesn't recognize my phone. After that the phone just shuted down.
I already browse all topics about soft brick, but nothing helped me...
Before take my phone to a service, what are my other choices?

I can't enter Download Mode and I haven't KIES installed.
Since you had a power outbreak during Odin flashing, it might not fully flash the bootloader (boot.img file), or the fat.bin file, both of them are essential for proper phone operation.
Install Kies, and try the recovery mode in it, see if it works.
Also, try to charge your battery, maybe this will help somehow.
If nothing works, service is your only option, as you cannot manually repair a partially flashed boot.img or fat.bin.
boot.img is not bootloader,
Boot.img is kernel

Well, I installed Kies.
I can't use "Emergency firmware recovery" because my PC doesn't recognize my phone.
I can't use "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation". When I enter the details about my phone I get "'GT-S6500D' does not support initializing.".
I don't think I have other option in Kies...
Another problem:
My phone is absolutely unresponsive.
Maybe because of battery.
I can't charge it. I have a friend with S6500D...
I will try with he's battery.
Maybe I could try some tricks to enter in Download Mode. (God, please help me!!)

Sorry but your phone is hard bricked so you can't fix your phone yourself. You have to send it to samsung to fix it.The hard brick was caused by failed bootloader update. But if you have power surges i recommend you to flash your phone from a laptop.

Please ignore the link to stock firmware without bootloader because i did not know your phone was galaxy mini 2 because sometimes mini 2 questions are posted in mini 1.And i have both mini and mini 2.
If boot.img is not the bootloader (it's the kernel, I'm sorry for telling you wrong before), then why the Download Mode does not work?

It doesn't matter... I saw it was for Mini... Anyway download mode still not working so don't worry.
Thanks for the idea of stock firmwares without bootloader... maybe i could edit stock firmwares for my phone.
You can edit stock rom without the risk of hardbrick.just upack your stock rom then delete bootloader then download a software to create tar do not use tar editor because just deleting the bootloader doesn't mean odin will load it maybe because of md5.So did you send your phone to samsung.

Well... I sent my phone to a service but there they could only fix download mode. LOL. They tried to install firmware update, but the phone was stuck in bootloop. From there, I fixed by myself.
I will ask them how did they fix it.
