I Was curious is there any way to change the navbar, Or customize it? I really like the way the CM10 navbar looks. I don't have a recovery and I have changed my notification bar and my lockscreen but that's pretty much it.

I'd rather use LMT than Button Savior. I was asking him because he said his games are on his pull out bar.
Ohhh ok well Do you think it is safe without a backup? I also use LMT although I still have the stock soft keys and they get very annoying.

How To Edit The Kindle Fire Nav Bar

EnigmaReborn,
This depends on what you would like to do to the navigation bar. There are applications out there that work well on the Status Bar:
1. Omega Status Bar
2. StatusBar+
Now, regarding the Navigation Bar there are several XDA Members that have developed custom Mods allowing you to resize the bar or remove it:
1. Hide Bottom Bar
There are a number of XDA Members that have done some real mod work, if you take a look at the idea, you will be able to carry it over to the Kindle:
1.Change Nav Bar DPI
The general idea is to look at the framework-res.apk - you will find all the Navbar icons inside that apk, use Gimp to edit the icons, then reinsert them back into the APK.
I actually uninstalled the Navbar completely. I am using button savior at the moment on my rooted Kindle Fire Hd! I tried using LMT but could not get it to work properly so I went with Button Savior. I used Sys App Remover and made a backup of the SoftkeyBar.apk then uninstalled it and rebooted my Kindle. I have Button Savior hidden and setup to tap the right side of the screen to open it. So far everything appears to be working great! :good:

Thanks for mention this app. It actually saved me when strangely my notification bar and soft keys disappeared, and allowed me to do a factory reset.
On a slightly off topic note, in relation to one of the LMT default options. How come recent apps does not work on the kindle? Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I have always wanted to know why that feature doesn't work too I always looked forward too it.

I don't think it possible without PA
Edit your build.prop and add this line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
It's cool if you like to use LMT or PIE, that permit to use the full screen and keep the statusbar features.
Need a reboot.
Don't use "expand desktop" option.
Off course, activate another Softkeys/navbar solution (LMT,PIE...) BEFORE add the line in the build.prop !
LMT : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
PIE is roughly the same (less functions) as LMT and it's directly inculded in PA, RootBox...
Please report how it work on other ROM/Kernel.
Edit : Now using PA, just go to Settings/Hybrid Property/Interface dans set Nav. Bar to 0.
That do the trick.
Enjoy
Thanks, didn't think it was that easy.

Thank you for this. Great information. Sadly can't access that file yet until I am rooted, but I do look forward to it.
in pa you simply set navbar to 0%. done. no reboot needed. and pie is not part of lmt. lmt is a ready made google control tweaked a bit. pie is an open source control written from scratch. everything that goes beyond simple navigation is pie and was pies from the beginning. lmt took/replicated some of these ideas now, but please someone stop that meme already, i seriously cant see it anymore. everyday lmt gets another idea from us and people then come and say we got it from them is like a kick in the kneecap.

Doesnt make a difference in PA, same effect as setting the nav bar to 0% in PA settings the issue I have is that PIE works in basic mode where there is only the buttons no notifications when I activate it. Would rather have that function as I liked that part of it .
If you look at this thread again Moles, any idea?.

awesome..thanks for this...which one would you recommend though? LMT or PIE?
I used LMT but it seems like it lags a tad. Hitting the back button on my nav bar responds a lot faster than touching the back button on LMT...or is it just me?

I use Button Savior with this line added to system/build.prop "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1". Works like a charm. Button Savior is available at https://play.google.com/store/search?q=button+savior and provides hidden soft keys navigation available with a simple swipe or by clicking an app icon. Works with any launcher.

Yes. It will come back if you delete that line.
Although it's been said already, make sure you have an alternate nav key option installed before adding that line.

You could try a different Launcher, Nova Launcher for example. Not sure about other workarounds to get rid off the searchbar...
R: Hide ICS Hotbar only?
ok for nova launcher but remember this: is it worth using a different launcher than stock one? what about battery consumption comparison between stock and any different one?

I did the same thing, but wanted to keep the status bar and launcher. None of the apps I could find did a decent job, and all the ones that hide both bars are a horrible hack: they kill the systemUI process at regular interval!
In the end, I found a very simple way to do it, with no additional resource needed, apart from an alternative navigation bar. See my post on the Post your RAZR i Homescreens thread.
Brilliant!! Thanks

I couldn't locate much but I was hoping to know if theres a toggle mod or anything for the android revolution Hd 10.2 Rom.
It's pretty convienent and incorporated in most other roms, then again the dev did make it to resemble stock look.
I looked under mods and tweaks ,but couldn't gather if any of them may have the toggles in any of them.
The stock widget power menu sucks .

Are you talking about quick toggles? If so, since ARHD10.2 is android 4.2.2, it has quick toggles built in. Access it by two finger swipe down on the status bar or press the grid button on the top right of the notification shade.

This mod enables the nav bar on the Droid Maxx (and proably the Droid Ultra), disables the capacitive buttons. And i recommend installing the app from the link below.
This mod uses the framework-res.apk from after Software Update 1 (12.15.15 for the Maxx). I do not know if it will work on the earlier verison.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350732
!!!! THIS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP !!!!
But, it is pretty straight forward. Unzip, read the "read me", and follow the install instructions.
If anyone would like to help and show me how to make this SafeStrap flashable I would really appreciate the help. And it will allow this mod and future mod to be more user friendly.
Your instruction in the readme is a little off, "cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/" should read "cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk".
Otherwise, it did enable the bar, but did not disable the capacitative keys. Also, if anyone uses the long press on recents for menu key emulation, it does not work on the on screen buttons.
Finally, you can use the shell command "echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/nutton-backlight/brightness" without the quotes to turn off the capacitative lights, instead of using the app linked.
Otherwise, thanks for the mod! I'm kinda a fan of the onscreen buttons, just haven't had the time to figure it out myself.
Here is an attempt at a flashable zip, haven't done one in a while and can't test as I don't use safestrap atm.
Feel free to test at your own risk, the most likely error is that it won't mount system correctly, in which case it won't install anything. In that case, just mount system manually and try again.

I made an xposed module that will do it.
Here you guys go:

Works great, just a half black nav bar background but i am sure I can make the transparent myself. I think the half black is my launcher, switching it changes the height.

Its super easy. Decompile, go to res/values/bools.xml, find line that has show navigation bar change to true, then find show menu bar and change to false. That's it.
