Well here's the whole story:
Day before yesterday my PC broke so I used my Note as a temporary replacement of PC.
I hooked up my Note via MHL cable on 24” PC monitor. Everything worked fine – I browsed the
web, read forums via TapaTalk and watched one episode of series that I normally watch.
I left MHL cable attached to phone all night to charge it. I only turned off phone screen and naturally
MHL connection stopped working and monitor went to standby.
In the morning everything was fine. I played NFS Most Wanted for around hour via MHL cable.
Later I connected my home speakers to audio out on phone to listen Tune-In radio. Again I left MHL connected to phone and just turned phone screen off. because if it's on and MHL connection is alive it
consumes more power than charger connected to MHL can provide so it's discharging battery. I left it so and went to take care of some things.
When I got back and tried to turn on the phone screen was black but capacitive buttons lit up, and touch was working fine, I could hear ripple effect of my lock screen and picture of it showed up on my 24” monitor, so I restarted phone “on blind” - touching black screen on phone and watching my touches on 24” monitor that was still connected via MHL.
After this action my phone was dead.
It wont to turn on – no sign whatsoever – no sound, no vibration, screen wont to turn on.
If I connect phone to charger there's no reaction.
If I try to enter recovery or download mode result is the same – no reaction
But there's little hope: after I pulled out the battery and left it like that over night, in the morning I managed to get in download mode and flashed stock 4.0.4 firmware via Odin – but again phone wont boot and I cannot enter download or recovery mode. I must pulled out battery and wait 6-8 hours, after that I got one chance to boot to download mode. Not sure if I can boot to recovery mode since I tried this only once.
Bottom line I can try to claim my warranty but first I must format my internal storage because prior
my phone broke I was running Ultimate 5.1 ROM based on JB leak and I have stuff like titanium backup, cwm folders and I think that I also have .zip of Ultimate ROM on my internal – so enough
evidence that I wasn't on stock unrooted Samsung firmware and I can lose my warranty if in repair center somehow manage to boot up my phone and find this stuff on my internal memory.
Any tips or tricks how to revive my phone ??
Sorry for longer post but I wanted to explain everything that happened before my phone died.
Charge your battery and then use Jig usb, if it isn't hardware fault or isn't bricked by wiping while on stock ics it will go into download mode,
this Jig cable solved a lot of this issues

as evaworld suggested first use jig it should work.. if it doesn't then claim warranty from service centre and they don't care what you have in your internal memory they will format everything after fixing the problem whitout looking into your device internal storage

But as i wrote in first post I can enter download or recovery mode if i pull out battery and wait 6-8 hours. I don't need USB jig for that.
So if I enter recovery on stock ICS ( my phone has insane chip ) I should just wipe data/factory reset OR is it better to flash stock GB and than wipe ?
But to me this looks like hardware failure not like bricked device... Because when i flashed stock rom via odin ( and checked auto reboot) phone wont to boot... Just black screen... no sign of life...

Charge ur battery outside of the SGN.
With hdmi cable u can't charge ur phone, he is just giving u extra electro supply so ur note can run TV/HD screen with hdmi cable.
Because this happened while u were connected to ur monitor, settings were stored like u are still connected with it (this is bug on some ICS and JB ROM's).So charge ur battery outside the note, when charged, boot ur phone with hdmi cable plug into note and screen.
After that u should be able to solve ur problem.
If not we will try something else.
:highfive:
Ok. Battery is fully charged with external charger. Will try this trick around 02:00 when I get home from work.
One more question: I can get to stock recovery tried that yesterday - should I wipe/data factory reset since i have insane chip? I'm not on ICS as I wrote in first post but on stock JB leak nonrooted with stock recovery.
Sent from my Skate using Tapatalk 2
Stock JB kernel is still not confirmed safe. So no. Flash a safe kernel first.
How to flash safe kernel when I'm nonrooted and have only stock recovery? Is there kernel that i can flash via odin?
Sent from my Skate using Tapatalk 2
Yes Philz kernel for the JB leak. This can be flashed via stock recovery and it will provide you the safety
Can you provide link to Philz thread? I'm on TT and search is not working like it should.
Thanks.

Sure
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
OK. Just flashed Philz kernel and recovery. In the morning I will do a wipe.
Should I wipe only:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
OR i should go full wipe ( system, preload, internal sd card) and again flash stock ROM ??
If you are going to flash a new rom then select the "clean before new rom flash" option from Philz settings. That will clean the old rom.
Then you can go to advanced and select reboot download.
Ok here's what I did in the morning:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-reboot system
System booted, I could hear boot sound and capacitive buttons lit up but there's nothing on phone screen - it's black but touch is working. When I connected phone to MHL cable picture shows up on monitor.
So that means that GPU is working, but also i know that touch & screen are working fine in recovery so why i can't get picture on phone screen?
Sent from my Skate using Tapatalk 2
Something messed up in the mhl switch. You could try flashing the rom again using PC odin in download mode.
And before flashing the new rom, make sure you follow the steps I mentioned above for a clean install.
Ok. Thanks for reply.
Now I must wait around 6h before I can try again - to enter recovery and do all wipes and another 6h to enter download mode to flash rom.
Will do all necessary wipes and also format internal sd card - probably have lots of junk there...
Sent from my Skate using Tapatalk 2
Yesterday I turned phone on, let it boot to os (screen still was black but I could hear boot sound ) and copy my data via USB cable.
Then i shut it down.
After 6h i tried to enter recovery - no luck. After 8h i tried again - still no luck.
Now it seems that phone is completely dead.
I will wait 24h before trying again.
What to do if still won't to show any signs of life?
Sent from my Skate using Tapatalk 2
Don't know why you have to wait for such a long time. Any ways just make sure battery is charged.

Well I finally managed to enter recovery and do all necessary wipes:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-format system
-format preload
-format emmc
And i flashed Ultimate JB 5.1 LSC based but end result is the same: screen on phone won't to turn on:
Here's the video:
http://youtu.be/-Y9gZIjSgzw
Only left to try stock GB. But on sammobile there's no GB for download. Where I can find stock GB for download ?
there are GB firmware on sammobile. dont use the search there. use the drop down menu and select note and your region.
You should have tried to flash a stock ICS or GB rom using download mode..

| Did a hard reset/factory reset using SmartFlashTool and still no luck. The phone keeps powering off (as if you were pulling out the battery forcefully from the back) after booting for a min or so when plugged in. When on battery alone, the phone wont boot at all, it just flashes the LG logo for a few times and dies (like turning a lamp on and off). I'm running out of ideas :S
Did you drop it or did it get wet? Is the Download Mode screen being shown for a longer periode of time, or how were you able to use smartflash?

| Nope, Nope, Nope, I was able to use SmartFlash just fine. When plugged into a power source, the phone did a factory reset and I was able to boot into froyo for a minute or so, and then it dies (like when you're pulling the battery out forcefully).
Try the following:
Download any kdz file, download cwm injector (look into my noob how to post 3), inject cwm, flash it with smartflash, then you should be in CWM, do a data, cache and dalwik wipe, flash superuser.zip (should be on your SD card of course) and try to boot again. If it still doesnt boot, I have no idea, of what is wrong with your phone...
I think it's hardware related. A link betwen power supply and motherboard.

I think it's a hardware problem too because smartflashing it to original rom still won't solve the problem. Guess I have to take it back to the store that I bought it from.
Try using it on USB alone with battery removed if its working normal, then it could be a faulty battery. If you can lend the same battery to test would be better than buying one then realizing thats not the problem but could be hardware problem.
Hmm, had u followed the correct steps about using smartflashtool?
Change the battery?

In cwm i had:
- Created a back up
- Wiped data / factory reset
- Wiped cache partition (it took a wil then the screen went black as if it had reset)
And now i am unable to power 'on' the device?
Any ideas

Do you mean you cant power the device ON ?
What happens when you connect usb cable ? Does anything light up, Does your computer 'beep' to notify you of a connected device ?
Have you took battery out and reinserted ? or just left it to charge for around 10 mins before trying to power on ?
Also, What ROM + Kernel were you on before you did the wipes in recovery ?
Ahh yes, in my panic i miss typed.
O cant power on i have tried taking the battery out etc. but with no luck.
I just plugged it into my laptop pc and not a thing
I was on stock ICS (uk) and i don't think i changed the kernel either
I had just rooted and did the super user thing
I also probably didnt fully install CMW as i ran the CWM.zip from external sd from recovery each time.

You can Revive your phone with a pit file like me. I bricked mine with the same way as you. Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26285877&postcount=12
Thanks but I don't know if that will work as i can't get the phone to power on (as far as i can tell) and it doesn't seem to do anything when i plug it into the laptop.
No ping no beep.
It had about 60% power left when i did it so it has juice.
I am thinking might have to take it to carphonewhorehouse and tell them i was just doing a factory reset cos it had slowed down with all the apps and it reset while doing it and now won't turn on?

in this ERA of auto-root kernels, people still using CWM.zip...
probably should have just read some stickies. but too late...
if there is no response from the device, the pits are not going to work. only way is to get a replacement motherboard under warranty,
and as the device is non responsive.. they will not be able to detect anything about root.
Good Luck
Yeah i did some reading, but clearly not in the right place
back to the shop it goes. If you have a guide that you could point me to to get this doen the correct way then that would be much appreciated (if and whn i get a working replacement)
Thanks

when you get the phone check what rom its on. just update to the latest ICS rom..(donot wipe).
download philz kernel for the rom you have updated to.
put it in the sd card
boot into recovery
and apply update from ext storage.> point to the kernel > install
thats it. your phone gets rooted, safe kernel and CWM inbuilt.
now you can follow the procedure in the CM10 rom to install. (The Safe Way)
Thanks!
I have just got back from CPW where the nice lady said that it looks like a hardware fault given what i had described so she is sending it off to be either mobo replaced o plain replaced.
I have emailed myself your guide and will look into it if and when i get it back.
Thanks !

I had the same problem! First root your device. And then use a custom rom such as this one
Steps to Install Android 4.2.2 on Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 via Unofficial AOKP
Step-1: Download AOKP Android 4.2.2 for Samsung Galaxy S Advance to computer
Step-2: Download Google Apps
Step-3: Connect Galaxy phone to computer using USB cable. Copy downloaded zip files to SD card of phone. Do not extract any file
Step-4: Disconnect phone from computer and switch it off. Wait five to six seconds for vibration to confirm complete power off
Step-5: Boot Galaxy S Advance into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power until Samsung logo appears. Then release all three buttons. The device will be in recovery mode soon
Note: In recovery mode, use Volume buttons to navigate between options and Power button to select desired option
Step-6: In recovery mode it is important to perform a Nandroid backup of existing ROM, which can be restored later in case the new ROM does not work or users wish to go back to previous firmware. To perform Nandroid backup, select Backup and Restore and then, on the next screen, select Backup again. When backup is done, go back to main recovery menu
Step-7: Perform data wiping task to avoid clash between new and previous ROM. Select wipe data/ factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm action. Wait for a few minutes until data wiping process is completed and then go back to CWM recovery menu. Select wipe cache partition and select Wipe Dalvik Cache under Advance option to perform Dalvik cache wiping. Once action is completed, return to recovery menu
Step-8: Select install zip from sdcard and then select choose zip from sdcard. Now navigate to AOKP ROM zip earlier copied to SD card of phone. Press Power to select and confirm installation by selecting Yes on next screen. ROM installation should begin
Step-9: After ROM is installed, follow similar procedure (Step-8) but this time choose Google Apps package
Step-10: When installation process is completed, go back to main recovery menu and reboot phone by selecting reboot system now. The device will reboot into customised AOKP firmware. The phone will take a few minutes to boot up for the first time
The Samsung Galaxy S Advance should be now updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with unofficial AOKP ROM. Head to Settings > About Device to verify new software running on phone
Note: To go back to previous ROM, boot phone into recovery, select Backup and Restore and then restore ROM by selecting from list
All instructions are there in the site. Also this is a new Android OS version . It removes the bloatwares and significantly improves performance and will hopefully solve your "CHARGING BUG" and improve the user interface as well!BUT BE CAREFUL , THIS IS NOT A TOUCHWIZ ROM ! ITS AN AOKP ROM, so you'll lose TOUCHWIZ features.
If I did help ,please don't forget to click on the THANKS button !!!
Cheers !!
Hello , first of all please treat me as a newbie .
From Ultimate I installed the latest Rom Rom Carbon . After that the phone started to behave erratically until it went out.
When I turn the screen only displays Samsung .
I have access to CWM and Download Mode from the CWM tried again I set you the Ultimate Rom that worked me well ( why I changed ! ? ) , But nothing, when you install the ROM , middle restarts , returning the samsung screen or off.
I also tried to use the nandroid restore but nothing happens , sometimes I get to see the home screen of the rom, but then is frozen .
I have been told that I have to retrieve it by putting using odin the original rom gingerbread 2.3.6 and then move to the official 4.1.2 then install the kernel philz corresponding to 4.1.2 .
But I can not get the links to these roms , I'm really desperate because in a week I 'm on vacation and my Note quisera working again .
( apologies , I'm using the google translator)
Thanks in advance and greetings from Buenos Aires.
Boot into recovery again. Then go to mounts and storage. Then format system, data, cache and preload. Then restore your nandroid of ultimate and check.
Unfortunately, in my desperation rookie, format the external sd. I know, I deserve everything that happens to me. : (Sorry. ..

CSC means Customer Service Code. I think you flashed a ROM that's not suitable for your region or carrier (service provider).
Try flashing a new GB ROM from dr.ketan thread here ... select the appropriate ROM based upon your carrier and country.
I would say instead of flashing a GB rom, flash a JB rom.

Dear friends:
yesterday during one of my tests, when I installed the Kernel Philz, threw me the message that my battery was almost empty, which surprised me because it always appeared when the charging icon, appeared almost full.
I hope it is just the battery. Today I will see if I can buy or try another battery.
The'll informed.
BTW: I tried flashing GB roms and JB, always with the same result: successful flash, but stops before reaching the desktop.
[Solved] It was the battery!
First of all thank you very much for your help !
It was the battery ! . Although the loading icon showed almost loaded , was nearly exhausted. The track gave the Kernel Philz , when I tried to run the recovery mode , it appeared a message that told me the battery was exhausted.
Today I went to a business and bought one. And presto , the phone started and reached the Android splash screens .
Problem solved.
What could have happened? I do not know , I remember the Carbon Rom installed , make mistakes of gapps ( I installed a newer version of android that he used the Carbon) , then I changed the gapps ( mostly via CWM ) Note and walked. Towards evening , wanting to see a youtube video mobile overly heated . I decided to turn it off and leave it charging ( charger samsung but a little loose contact to the tab that comes on the phone, always used " enrroscando " the alrrededor mobile cable for connecting and charging Although the record ) .
The next morning he surprised me were the 76 % should have charged all . Two hours later the phone died . What died was the battery , of course.
What confused me was that when I put in recovery mode, the screen remained stable forever, so I figured it was not the battery , now fall obviously the recovery mode makes minimal use of the battery and display resources .
Anyway, for the next we know that the battery may be the problem. It may have been a failure of the Rom ? of gapps ? Charger ? or battery ( bought in May).
Possibility is that you have to recalibrate the batterie. there are apps in the market that can do this.
Else may be the charger in the phone itself is damaged. or the usb port. Also possible that the new battery is defect, too.
try your battery in another Note. Then you will know.
the USB port on my Note was faulty so charging was not stable. Replacement cost me 20 Euro.
ok first things first, imma noob, and i did a stupid thing.
It started in last summer when i wasnt able anymore to connect the N7000 to my WIN 7 64bit (probably after an update to ICS /JB).
Well since i never needed to transfer files (64GB-sdxc) i didnt care much about it. but then in last times my phone/ram cache was full of so much unblockable bootloaded crapware so that i wanted to switch from a official 4.1.2 firmware to cyanogen. But since my USB wasnt working it wasnt that easy.
Side note: the USB-port was ****ed up before (short-circuit, screen woke up due to fake-loading). i fixed that by luck and some dark magic.. so of course i thought the connection problem were because oif the broken jack.
The day before yesterday i tried for 8 hours anything i could find to install another bootloader and flash CM (CWM / TWRP / Triangle away / minimal adb/fastboot etc.); didnt work, CWM seemed to boot up but loading failed all the time at 1/3rd of the bar at screen went black.
Yesterday my friend came over and i tried to use his USB-jack to connect my phone to my Pc, which failed. THEN i put the "broken" one from mine in his N7000; that was efficacious, everything worked fine, so the USB-jack wasnt the problem.
Later i had, out of frustration, moronism, and anger, the glorious idea to download and flash another (older) Kernel via mobile odin to install an old gingerbread stock rom on it afterwards.
That was stupid as i know now, all i can do now is enter download mode, but without USB-connectivity and the stock bootloader with the options reboot system / update from sd / wipe data / wipe cache / test redbend fota(FS) and boot, which stucks at the N7000-screen.
After i managed to **** things up i found an article which describes my (now former) USB-problem perfectly. it says to put in a special number combination on the phone to get to phoneUtil and then switch from modem mode to pda mode. i knew this screen before but i couldnt find it at the preferences on JB.
Now comes my question: What could be done to unbrick my phone? is there any help?

>Just to clarify: with USB-Jack i mean the USB-Port with the connector to the motherboard; sorry if i misused the word
I dont think so cause we used only his cable when he was here and my phone neither connected with mine nor with his USB-Jack, but both Jacks worked on his phone.
Pro-question: Is there a difference between (usual) USB-connection in booted mode and connection in download mode? i mean is download mode something like a "safe mode" where the USB doesnt need to run on 100% availabilty? Should i try to find the phone via Odin in downdload mode again by using his cable? i dont think this could work else.
