I have tried and flashed many different TW ROMs in the past and decided to try out some of the AOSP and CM10.1 ROMs. With PA 3+, Asylum and Revolt, all of these ROMs will not allow me to mount the SD Card, when I go into settings, the 'Mount SD Card' option is grayed out. But if I use a file manager with root access, I am able to access all of the files on my SD Card in Storage/SDcard1. So I know there is nothing wrong with the SD card itself as I can browse to it and use it. But I just can't mount it so I can use it as a UMS. So here is what I have tried so far and in all honesty, I am out of ideas.
- Format sd card (FAT32)
- Partition sd card with minitools and tried via CWM
- Tried a different sd card (tried a 8gb sandisk)
- Tried it on different roms, it works perfectly fine on a TW ROM.
- Tried using the app USB Mass Storage, USB Switcher and paid for Stickmount Pro (still does not allow me to mount)
When I tried using USB Mass Storage, I get an error message that says "No partition found", however, I know it is definitely partitioned properly.
So anyone has any ideas that I have not through up of yet?
I have the same issue. Have used the latest stable Asylum and Slim Bean ROMs and nightly kernels.

I was able to get Verygreen's CM7 installation on a 1gb SD card working from SD boot. However, I'm now trying to install some APK via the web, but it complains "No SD Card" available. When I try to goto Storage Settings > Mount SD Card, I get an error saying SD card is damaged (weird since I havn't done anything w/but install CM7). Total internal storage reported is 525MB, I assume the remainder are in a secondary partition for data..
Any insight how I can get the SD card working?
BUMP? Is my only alternative to install to internal memory in order to use the SD card :??
Hi, I am not sure if this is the answer, but I looked into Verygreen's original thread:
"up to 1G cards gets: system of ~300M and data of the rest of space. No FAT partition"
Possibly that's the issue. I have a 8G card and been running CM7 off of it. Yesterday I installed the UMS utility apk from this forum by using Opera, downloading it to a folder, and then simply tapping it in a file manager.

HI!
I have this problem that when I turn on the file sharing, the computer shows only internal memory card and not the external. Because the phone itself recognizes the external card I have tried to unmount and mount several times without any improvement. I am currently using the latest CM7 nightly, but the problem seemes to have started after I changed the card from 4gb to 16 gb. Any ideas?
EDIT: Erasing sd card from the phones menu helped to solve the problem.
Go Setting>Storage and remount your sd card and try???
I've done that several times....no help... android system accesses the card without problems...music, pics etc.
Did you physically remove your card and reinsert it, or just software remount?
Have you tried the card directly in your computer?
Have a look in windows device manager and see if it reports any problems. (right
click my computer and select manage)
I have tried it all and everything is ok with the sd card itself (I copied recent nightly from the computer on the sd card) also recovery recognizes is... there are also no problems in device manager...
Try to put on debugging mode. And try it with debugging mode on.
If the debugging mode is on try to take it off.

I tried that also and nothing changed.... I have a feeling that it is somehow attached to me using mybackup pro... I restored application apk and data from another phone to this one and It seems that usually the application data should go to internal memory card. In this case it is on external card... so i believe that somehow the programs are still using the card when connected and do not allow phone to share it out... It's just a guess though...
EDIT: so I think the solution is to wipe everything and start all over again
So I fresh installed Rom and wiped everything and the problem still exist... still can see files with file managers in phone and when connected to computer, autorun shows only internal card...
Edit: I tried now 2gb sized sdcard and it works perfectly... the problem is with 16gb card.
Weird. Did you try another USB-port?
I tried different USB-s now and still same I found out that when I connect the phone, under my computer appears two removable disks.... if I turn on the usb connection, only one transforms to usable removable disk (internal) and the other one asks to insert the removable disk. I used the same sd card on my HTC desire with CM nightlies and it worked perfectly... could it be CM-s bug?
Sorry to ask (maby the obvious)
On Your phone.. using your filemanager (Root explorer astro or what-ever..)
Browse to sdcard
Do you have a folder called _externalSD?
On this phone, for some reason the external SD is not mounted under./ but as i said under ./sdcard/ (i.e its mounted under the internal SD card..)
Just a thought
Where the different cards are mounted doesn't make any difference. And as he said, it works with other cards (2GB and 4GB).
CyanogenMOD mounts internal card as /mnt/emmc, and external card as /mnt/sdcard by default.
When turning on USB storage, both cards should be unmounted and shared over USB.
Hi, I had the same problem with mine, and as you said in one of your previous posts, I had to do a format through the phone and as soon as I did that I was good to go.
I did use the same memory card in my old hero so this might have something to do with it... I'm not sure.
By formatting do you mean from the menu Erase SD card? On the desire I actually had the formatting request from the computer, but there was another problem (some of the rom's files were on the sdcards ext or something and I had no access to the card from the USB).... kind of a similar problem if I think back now but after changing to CM, the problem disappeared.
I forgot to mention I am running completely stock rom and unrooted (for the time being) and there is just an option under sd card & phone storage setting to format external sd card
After erasing the sd card from the phone, the computer recognized it i'm currently copying stuff back and i'm pretty sure it does not affect the recognition
I faced the same problem. I had Swapper2 on my NC, and after I uninstalled it (and cleared the data of Swapper2, just in case) everything went to normal back again.
^ a solution.
Hi guys,
Yesterday i found there's this thing called swapping internal and external sd cards for more storage for games.
How it works, it adds two cards in one or its just changing the places (sdcard0 to sdcard1 and sdcard1 to sdcard0)?
And so, i flashed Helly bean, i flashed swap kernel for 4.3 by mackay and it didnt seem diffrent. How can i recognize the change and why when i mount the cards to pc i see just the one - my external card? Should i use another rom
Edit: Tried Cm10.2.0 without the kernel everything is fine, with the kernel its like my internal sd card doesnt exist
No worries i figured it out, after the problem i reinstalled other rom and my cards are swiped without me installing the swapped sd kernel
Well, long story short, I can't seem to get access to my Sandisk 64GB microsd both from within CM (CM 10.2.1 yuga)
and from CWM Recovery v6.0.4.6
except from when I moust USB storage via CWM Recovery ... BUT ... I can only read (try copying to it or formatting it) doesn't work. When I mount it, a pop-up window always appears "Do you want to scan and fix Removable Disk?" after I run the check, I can browse the drive.
I've tried reformatting using different methods:
1.) From Windows - reformat failed
2.) Using HP Disk format tool - failed
3.) Using Disk Management - failed as well
I'm stumped ...
Little bit of history:
Xperia Z on stock rom had it rooted - everything was okay
At one point, I was transferring some files but I think that failed
Then Camera App couldn't save on SD card, but internal storage OK.
Tried other apps, same behaviour.
Tried googling same issues but were irrelevant to my problem.
Tried some relevant stuff - like exFAT MOB for non-Japanese Xperia phones - doesn't work
Now flashed CM (latest stable) memory card doesn't mound - even on MTP mode.
Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709912 - but don't really know what to do.
So yeah, any help would be great, thanks!

I fear this ...

So, I managed to get ahold of my old 16GB transcend memory card - and it works.
So the problem is with the Sandisk Card.
I just flashed Allrams cm-11-20140706-UNOFFICIAL-jactiveltexx.zip without a problem (after a full wipe). System running fine, but unfortunately my SDCard (Samsung 64GB ExFat formatted) isn't recognized.
The card is recognized via Recovery, as well as on my PC.
Any suggestions?

I would have posted this question in the appropriate thread, but not enough posts until now...
I installed Spegelius version cm-11-20140702-UNOFFICIAL-jactiveltexx_NE5.zip. Ext. SDCard is recognized. Everything running smooth so far...
It seems, problem within allrams version.
I have allram build but sd card is working, but earlier when I had Sandisk instead of Samsung card I also did have problems ..
Which size of card? Also in ExFat formatted?
Spegelius build of 20140702 wasn't able to play YouTube videos, so I changed ROM to Carbon (CARBON-KK-UNOFFICIAL-20140704-2345-jactiveltexx.zip).
SD card is recognized, YouTube is working. Only few camera crashes.
It seems, there is only a problem in allrams build with 64GB cards formatted with ExFat.
Hi I use this one https://www.cyberport.de/samsung-pro-64-gb-microsd-speicherkarte-class-10-bis-70mb-s-uhs-i--4H02-03F_1519.html Allram newest build but worked on previous also .. Funny things on this custom builds how different thing work on one phone but not on other (regarding my video 10 min recording limit)
My SDCard is Samsung microSDXC Pro 64GB (Class 10) in my SGS4 Active, formatted with exFAT. Worked with stock rom 4.4.2.
I have flashed several allrams builds. Recognized in Recovery but after a restart or boot up then randomly my card is recognized in CM11 but not all files and folders are found.
When I go to Settings/Storage and unmount and mount back the external card then it finds all files and folders.
If I connect my phone to a PC, I can't transfer files to external card, only to internal storage if external card is unmounted under Settings/Storage.
