Good morning!
I have xperia x8 and lately I can't slide down the status bar . I installed ADW launcer and I'm able to slide the bar down . The bad news is that after a few minutes it gets stuck and I can't press anything on the screen, it won't even unlock. The physical buttons work normally. If I reboot 2-3 times by removing the battery, the touch screen works normally but again just for a few minutes and then it won't work any further. What should I do???
I have nAa 2.6.29.6-14 and Prime HD 10.0 (I've tried and cm10) with Android 2.3.7
Thank you in advance.

Wow..i got your problem too..bit judt after reboot..
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
I recently switched my digitizer to synaptics (my cypress one stopped working) and had problems ever since,
it works right when the phone boots but after a while touchscreen just doesn't responds at all.
im also using nAa-14 kernel and tried with alfs but issue persists, can anybody confirm this?
I have come across this problem and I think its with the digitizer as told by rxpassenger. It can be because of a hardware failure or because of a corrupted internal ROM not allowing the digitizer to function properly.
If its a hardware problem then I cannot help you but I have found that this problem is mostly caused because of corrupted ROM.So I know of some fixes that may help.
So follow these steps. It may work:
Power Off the phone.
Take out the Battery.
Wait for 10-15 seconds so that all the capacitors and resistors are fully discharged of electricity.
Put back the battery and go into recovery mode.(Press back button repeatedly when the nAa logo starts coming up.)
Have a full wipe.And Reboot.
If the above method didnt work then try this:
Download a new copy of the ROM you are using.
Go into Recovery and Full Wipe,Wipe Cache,Wipe Dalvik-Cache etc.
Install the new Copy of the ROM.
Reboot and try if it works.
There is also one more method but I dont know whether it will work.I havent used this method and have only heard people saying about it.The digitizer is in the left corner of the screen and if we press and hold that corner for some time the digitizer may start working. But I dont know to how far this is correct.
Cheers,
Leon

Umm I've never had the calibrate screen come up on the Topaz since the day I bought it. Well accept for NRGZ28s ROMs. It should be pre-calibrated. Especially if your on the stock rom.
As far as windows 7 there were problems with earlier RC. What versions is yours? You should be able to flash once the Official Win7 is out.
settings > screen?
i've flashed it on a other pc,,but still no succes!
the calibratation screen doesn't come up!
even tried a different hardspl,,still no succes!
somebody know a rom whif screen calibration at the start up??

Mebe your digitizer isn't right. Does it work? It just registers wrong? I'm really not clear on any of those.
NRGZ28s ROMs used to have the calibration. Mebe UDKs also. I know for a fact that Shadowlines has the calibrotor after start up. Go to Settings(in Manila)>All Settings>System>Screen It should be there. Or somewhere, I don't have my phone on me.
You've not been too clear on why it's so important to calibrate on the install process. Is your screen so mis-aligned that you can't use it? If you are able to use it then you can get to the screen calibration from settings - all settings - system - screen - alignment
Hope this helps
Marc
Make sure you've downloaded the latest Windows Mobile Device Centre for Windows 7. It fixes connectivity issues with the Topaz.
I'm also having the problem of not being able to calibrate the screen.
My digitizer broke and I have replaced it. Now it works, but it's so misaligned that I can't use the touchscreen to navigate. Therefore I need to flash a ROM that has the screen calibration to run upon boot, but I can't find a such ROM. Have tried the latest Shadowline, Energy, Nataly, official etc.
Does anyone know of a ROM with screen calibration upon boot? New or old doesn't matter, just need to calibrate the screen...
You put flex in not proper way in the socket, try flip flex upside down

Press VolUp+VolDown together and then tap on the screen.
Now you can calibrate your Screen.
I also had this problem after replacing the screen on my Trophy, but then I thought of cleaning the connector.
My new screen now looks great, and works perfectly.
thanks hansdampft, Vol up + vol down works perfectly, i can use my phone again!
Hi hope someone can help. Over the weekend my TD2 started playing up. All of the hardware buttons apart from the on/off button have stopped working. I also notice that if I turn the screen off with a short tap of the on/off button, after a few seconds it comes back on again. All touch screen functions are ok. It also appears to be draining the battery very quickly, to the extent that fully charged at bedtime (no bluetooth or wifi on and a stable 3-4 bar signal) it will be comppletely drained by morning. As far as I am aware the phone has not gotten wet at all.
I have also re-installed the office HTC rom, which made no difference
Any ideas??
So you reinstalled the stock rom and did a hard reset?
You can try Tarkim's Keyboard controller and see if your hardware keys can be mapped to a different function.
That would help eliminate hardware vs software issues.
I have the same problem. Also my backlight keeps working and won't go off. Can't perform a hard reset because my volume buttons(and all other hardbuttons accept the on/off) aren't working.
Searched for the solution but can't find it anywhere. Who can help me?

Try clear storage app to HR.
Thanks for your reaction.
Yesterday I managed to put an official ROM on my phone.(latest from HTC site).
Problem only got worser. Phone gets complety stuck(directly after boot) in the volume screen. Sometimes its flashes back to the normal screen but only for 1 second. Buttons still aren't working so can't do anything with my phone right now( not even the hard reset methode you told me).
Started to think that this is really some hardware issue. Can't remember that water got in my phone or the phone felt really hard. Any solutions maybe?
Otherwise I think I just go to the store.

One last thing you can try is a Task29 explained here.
Use your official rom (right click on .exe and extract the RUU_Signed.nbh and place in task29 folder, then connect device in Bootloader mode and run the Task29.exe. Follow the instructions in the link.
my sgs last time i mod with CM 6.1.its still ok.but 2-3 days again my sgs suddenly got a blank screen>>>3 button not working until i use my cable charge to PC its cant on but just only sound go to sgs home screen.>>no pic i cant say but my touch screen still working>>plz somebody explain my sgs ??i'm from Asia.plz give me solution brozzzzzzz.thks alot
Sometimes my SGS blacksout also, but i know it still works cause i have haptic feedback on.
for me it's very easy to restore the picture
it always works with one of the following two options
A) Push the home button
B) even thought the screen is balck, go to wallpapers
one of those will always bring back my screen for me. Again this only works if the phone is one and responsive, just the screen that goes black.
Let me know if it works for you
Thanks you,
Roidi
Greetings,
I'm not experienced with android devices, so i thought i'd ask here first before trying to do anything.
Since a few months ago some weird things started happening to my X8 - random display glitches and blackouts at completely random intervals (sometimes one or even two a day, sometimes it can last two or more weeks w/o an incident, i haven't figured out any relation yet).
Glitches manifest in distorted view on screen - shifted up/down/sideways - or colored graphics artefacts - up to completely bizarre patterns of random-colored pixels covering the whole screen. Weirdly enough, pushing power button as if to lock the screen usually alleviates the issue, sometimes i need to do it few times to remove completely, but it works. Touchscreen works fine, but i need to tap the "right" spot on the screen, not where it's displayed on the screen ("right" as in where the element is when the screen is not glitching).
The other issue (may be related) i'm having with the phone is random screen "blackouts" - the screen goes completely black and the power button cycling doesn't help - but the phone still reacts to screen input (i.e. i can unlock the screen by dragging the slider, launch app, start/stop music playback and so on). I can see the backlight on, so it's definitely screen/gfx hardware issue, not backlight. If i try to reboot the phone, it hangs on either shutdown or boot up. Removing the battery, placing it back and booting the phone up doesn't help - it vibrates as usual, i see the backlight go up, but screen stays black and i can't interact with the phone even if i leave it there for a few minutes (which is more than enough for it to boot up - it usually takes ~30 seconds till full boot). Also the backlight won't go off. It usually helps to boot normally if i hit the phone with a palm on the back side and/or leave it alone for a while. This issue is much more rare (only had it three times), but it puts the phone out of service for a while, so it's an issue for me.
Now, the device info:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 E15i
015 baseband
10W44
Unlocked bootloader
Alfs8 kernel (2.6.29.6-Alfs v08a 24/03/2012)
GingerDX v026 ROM
No cpu tweaks done, cpu governor "ONDEMAND", cpu speeds 122-600.
The glitches started when i was still using the older version, GindgerDX v013 with locked bootloader, i have done factory reset and flashed a new version with new kernel (and unlocked the loader along the way), but apparently it did not help fix the issues.
I can't provide and screenshots/photos of the issue because the only camera i have access to at most times when it happens is my phone one and, obviously, i can't use that in this case
The question is: can i still try to fix it by myself (i can do it if it doesn't involve disassembling the phone completely - i don't have the screwdrivers required) by software tweaks or other techniques or should i reflash stock kernel/rom, apply for warranty and hope they find the defect and fix it? I really do like the phone. Or, maybe, you have encountered anything resembling these issues and may shed some light on what's happening.
Appreciate any input in trying to figure out and fix this.
Thank you if you have read all this even if you can't help me, cheers!
1st problem could be 'Screen Cut' issue which is solved using kernel without FPS Cap...
2nd problem usually happens on my phone with miniCM9 3.0.2 but shows splash and boot animation...
Can you see the splash screen and the bootanimation? Because my friends' Xperia Ray has the issue on official firmware... so it could be hardware damage...
Try unlocking the screen then press the power button then press it again...
and also try flashing the stock firmware... If it doesn't work... I think you should live with it...
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Reflash stock kernel and ROM and full wipe and then flash a different ROM and see it it still happens. If it does I think it is advisable to send it to Sony for repair.
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for your replies, i'll try reflashing the stock rom and see if it still happens.
@Lily48: no, no splashcreen or boot animation, just black screen and visible backlight.
I have the same problem and I checked it many times and my conclusion is....ITS A HARDWARE PROBLEM NOT SOFTWARE..

Sorry for double post, but this is important update:
My phone died this morning with the permanent black screen syndrome. Until i rebooted i could use it to receive phone calls or even listen to music (i knew where to touch to activate the features). However it would not boot sompletely after restart, even if i leave it for ~hour. Connecting to flashtool showed that it does boot to a certain stage, but no GUI (for user interaction with haptic feedback) available - the flashtool does show that device connected with usb debugging enabled.
I reflashed the stock ROM, now it's apparently stuck in some sort of bootloop - it keeps on connecting and disconnecting. But the screen is still black, with backlight. If i remove the battery, replace it and just connect to pc w/o trying to boot on, it acts normally as if trying to charge - backlight activates for a few seconds if i touch a key and green led is lit, but still the screen is black.
I will RMA it tomorrow, thanks for help, hopefully i'll get a new one, or they'll repair this one so it does not glitch on me again. Anyway it was/is a good phone, i absolutely love it.
Wish me luck =]

It is a hardware problem and Sony Service Center is the last option you have.. if your X8 is in warranty period.
I did the same and they replaced its display with new one.

Just got my X8 back, it really was a hardware problem. They changed the screen now it works as good as new =]
Thanks everyone for support
Hi everyone I've got a big problem with my wife's Mi 5. After some minutes/hours of usage the touchscreen stops working and the only solution the make it work again is to reboot the phone (by keeping the power off button pressed).
I've tried some rom (MIUI stable, MIUI dev, Paranoid Android 7.3.0) but all of them have the same problem, someone has got the same issue?
I think it's not only an hardware problem because the touchscreen works most of the time... Any ideas?
I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's Mi5 too. I thought she was talking rubbish until I started using the phone full time over the past few weeks.
Symptoms:
Screen switches on and accepts one touch event.
Screen is then unresponsive to touch events.
All other buttons (home, power, volume) all work OK.
All functions work OK (calling, SMS, etc) via remote control (MyPhoneExplorer)
Screen then becomes responsive again after reboot
Tried so far:
Clearing dalvik/cache
Clean flash - using MiFlash and China dev ROM
Opened phone, cleaned all ZIF connections and reconnected.
It almost feels like something in the touch firmware or driver crashes and does not reconnect - as the phone is clearly usable save for the touch panel.
I'm going to ask Bruno/bgcngm and see if there's anything I can do to try and diagnose the issue.

In my case unresponsive screen to touch events, all phisical button works and the only option to make it works again is to reboot. I didn't try to use it with some "remote" control.

Well on my old mi4c i had similar problem. I mean sometimes when i pressed power button and tried to unlock it screen didn't work. For me solution was simply to press power button again to turn off screen and then turn IT on. Maybe this will help u. Have u try that ?

Do you think it's something related with Doze or standby? I think so because today (and yesterday and so on...) I wasn't able to turn off the wake up alarm (the phone was in standby with the screen off all night) with "the screen" but I have to force restart the phone with the button... and it's very annoying.
Maybe we can try with some Marshmallow ROM instead Nougat one.

I'm facing same issue.I've changed my display panels but it doesn't solve my problem.it is quite painfull.i don't know what should i do.
any update sir?
My MI 5 has a different issue. There is no response if I place the phone on the table, but it is fine if I held it. It seems the touch panel is only responsive when the sort of sensors that a human is holding the phone. I have no idea why it starts to happen in these weeks. This symptom happens even in TWRP, so I don't think it is related some particular ROM. Tried firmware 7.7.6 ~ 7.9.22 with no luck.
skip lock screen
Hi
I know I am late to the party, but just faced the same issue yesterday. To bypass the issue, follow the following steps
1. Restart your phone .
2. Enable developer options from about section in settings. (google enable developer options for specifics)
3. In developer options, there is an option to skip screen lock. Enable that.
4. Voila!!
Hope it will help other mi5 users..
Hi,
I had the same problem. I found this video and I tried to fix it. It worked pretty well. Bye
In a situation that I can't do any service for my Mi5 as of now - is this really loose cable thing ?
Can more folks confirm that this cable solution from above video works ?
exactly same symtoms :
Random screen freeze - only option is to reboot phone or phone goes rebooting randomly itself.
