Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. heres my back ground. I have installed CM9 on a couple HP touchpads. My other friend who had it modded already gave me her touchpad and it is having some issues.
I can pick through the boot menu between the normal options WebOS, CM9, WebOs recovery, shutdown, restart. I can log into WebOS perfrectly fine with no problems. When ever I try to connect to my win7 laptop it will not give me the extra drive.
I have tried to log into the CM9 mod. It will go to the start up logo and stop. It will not log in any further. I have tried to re install the cm9 but I cant copy over the new file. Can someone give me some direction with this?
Getting this to a new complete new partition as if it was brand new from hp. Is ok as well. I have tried to recover and it just re does the webos partition and not the whole device.
Thanks
~Geoff.
Do you have a working recovery option in moboot? If so just download, full wipe, and flash a ROM. If you don't I would return to stock with ACMEUninstaller and reinstall with ACMEInstaller3.

I have tried the uninstaller and it doesnt like it. But I can try it again. I where do i download the ACME 3 installer? Also I cant get it to connect to my pc to copy over the flash files. unless there is a way to put it into recovery and move stuff through command prompts.

it will restore your phone back to stock
after nvflashing v10b back on your phone, you can restore your backup if you like to. root and clockworkmod must be installed first though. To install clockworkmod you can also download the clockworkmod recovery img and replace recovery.img in the nvflash files. this will install cwm directly and you don't need to root your device.
You don't need to convert back to ext3. I'm not even sure if cm7 uses ext4...
The reason why you are not able to restore your backup is because of some bug in cwm with restoring boot.img I think..

I installed ics cm9 alpha 0.5 then I installed one of the bricked kernel v0.4 in my touchpad. noticed when I removed from my touchstone charger, it freeze so now I want to reverse it back to normal cm9. In order word, don't want bricked version in my boot screen and my wifi back. I don't know enough to work with adb. Can someone make a zip for me to do it in cwm or explain to me step by step with root or es explorer. TIA
You don't just "uninstall" a kernel, as a kernel is needed for android to boot and work properly. You just need to find the kernel you were on, and flash it through clockworkmod
I tried re do cm9 alpha0.5 with cwm but moot boot screen still show the mod bricked version when boot. I am so lost. The developer 'posted method to install and uninstall. Install is easy...cwm zip but uninstall is done thru adb and I do not know enough to do adb.

If u go to classicnerd.net , in the ICS betas section there is a .zip for cleaning moboot entries. You can try it then flash cm9 again.
I tried that zip but didn't quite work. It deleted the org boot cm9 but kept the bricked one. Well I was trying to roll back and keep all my settings. Thanks anyway.

Just wipe cache
in advanced wipe dalvik cache
in mounts& storage format system, then install cm9 zip again , your settings and data will not be touched.
If you still need to remove bricked kernel you can try this.
from preware install REMOVE ANDROID when u reboot ,moboot and any android files will be gone from boot.
Now you need to ACMEInstall the moboot zip, and the CWM zip only.
then from CWM do the three steps above.
i have done this with classicnerd ICS and my settings and data were still there.so i think cm9 should be the same.
i was like super pissed uninstalling it and you safe my day thanks mate

As long as you can get into cwm, go ahead and flash 'install from zip'. I assume you have backups, if not, make one asap......
thanks for the replie. what do i need to back up please?

cwm will make a backup which you can then restore. I also use titanium backup. Also, read as much as you can here in the forum, it's one of the best ways to learn.
thanks, yes i reading everything and i have followed instal to the letter (from having no andriod os at all) ,however boot cyanogenmod option is not listed i get this
moboot 0.3.5
boot webOS
boot ClockworkMod
boot webOS Recovery
reboot
shutdown
and there is nothing i want to back-up at this stage unless i can bork up the webos stuff.

you might want to acmeuninstall, then do a fresh install from scratch.
Follow the instructions posted here and you should be all right.
thanks for you help, i eventually just went in cwm and manually installed, went fine and gapps did. dont know what happened on initial install but seems really cool now
thanks again
i installed the NAA kernal and CM9, and all going great, i did however realise that i needed to install gaaps, so i placed on card, rebooted into recovery and installed, all going good, and then after bootup where you tap the android man to continue. this is what i get 'UNFORTUNATELY THE SETUP WIZARD HAS STOPPED'..
I cannot bypass this. ive tried installing two different gapps on it, and both times this..
any help would be appreciated

Hello guys!
I'm new to the forum, and a total noob when it comes to android. I have a VERY similar problemToday I installed the latest version of CM. Worked fine. I installed gapps. Now when I turn on the device, it just shoes the message and I can't do anything. I wanted to try reflashing a newer version of gapps, but I can't put it on my sd card, because my computer won't detect it anymore...I can't use my phone at all, I am starting to panic :/

unzip the rom with winrar you leave two folders that enters the system says and go to the folder that says-app-here clears-app-setup wizard again after that compress the two files that were decompressed - metainf--system-with-winrar-do not forget to put format .zip and you have the zip file to your sd put it, install it normally..
Unfortunately the message has stopped the setup wizard should no longer appear
sorry my bad English
Wizardloop
yeah i got almost the same problem but with few key differences:
i pimped up my android with pimp my rom, the system ui stopped unexpectetly and when i factory reset my phone i got stuck in so-called
wizardloop. so now i want to re-download my stock rom but i dont know any tools that helps me.kdz is for lg only and flashtool is for xperia.
i have prestigio 4055 usb driver.
so can anyone give me some advice? It will be highly appriciated.
maybe reflash kernel and after instal rom, maybe help to you problem.
i have hp touchpad 3.0.4 and android dual boot.. i want to upgrade my webos to 3.0.5 but it failed using OTA update (tried like 5 times)... last solution is webosdoctor.. question will webosdoctor erase my android? read it will erase my boot entries for android and CWM... how can i restore them if they are really deleted?
side question: what webosdoctor should i dload? 3.0.4 or 3.0.5? thx in advance
Quick question have ever installed preware on webos ? If not this will tell you how to. http://www.webosbuzz.com/hp-touchpad/633-how-install-preware-onto-hp-touchpad.html .
I would use 3.05 all versions are available here
http://en.m.webos-internals.org/wiki/WebOS_Doctor_Versions?wasRedirected=true .
I would first use acmeuninstaller, then in webos DL and run Android uninstall from Preware as this I believe cleans up the boot folder.
Run webos doctor 3.05 to upgrade your current configuration and finally reinstall Android using acmeinstaller 3 with the latest moboot and CWM.
yup i am using preware... do i really need to uninstall and re-install android to just ugrade my webos??
I don't think webos likes Android and may by why your OTA didn't work and it's probably better to be safe rather than sorry if upgrading causes any problems .
Unless someone else knows differently .plus the uninstall /reinstall process of android shouldn't take more than 10/15 minutes .
Good luck on whatever you decide .

If I remember correctly, you only lose moboot, which is easily reinstalled. But I would follow sstar's advice. You can have a complete clean install of everything doing what he suggested, in very little time, with the latest versions of everything.
Make a backup, just in case.
ok thx! i actually webosdoctor 'ed it to 3.0.5.. lost moboot... so i reinstalled moboot via ACMEinstaller2 and restored my cm9 cwm backup.. thx guys

Try this : run acmeunistaller, then install android again using acmeinstaller3. Then restore your cwm backup.
With acmeinstaller3 your tablet will be ready for cm10 (whenever you decide to install it). It has something to do with partition sizes. Also, upgrade your cwm and moboot to the latest versions. Here's the link for the thread where you can find those files : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080977
