Stock, unrooted Exhibit 4G, camera issues - Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G

Not a super techy, but not a dummy either, but this issue is perplexing me. My Mom has a stock unrooted Samung Exhibit 4G, she is getting a memory error when she tries to take a picture. But her memory is not full. I have even gone so far as to factory reset the phone and even installed a fast reboot program on it. She asked me earlier b/c she got the error message "Not enough memory" when trying to take a picture, and this happens whether it's the stock camera or an after market program like Camera Magic. She said she had tried to use the fast reboot, and actually rebooted the phone and neither fixed it.
Has anyone ran into this issue or know how to fix it? The only option I'm considering is to actually root the phone to get away from the stock rom.

message problems

the stock message app that came with cyanogen to work it keeps freezing phone. i have reinstalled latest rom with a clean wipe. i have cleaned sd card and repartitioned it. what else can i do. when i reboot i also get removed sd card. the only way to be able to reuse phone is to remove battery.
Have you tried flashing a different rom to see if that fixes the issue?
nope ill do that. trying to hold onto this one untill i have funds for nexus one. wife dont see the logic of 500 plus for a phone.
I'd try Enoms v2.6.1 for testing as its stock.
Then if all is fine take a look at Super D, beats cyan hands down in my book.

Rom manager issues

I'm having issues with downloading a rom. I used the free version and installed the Shadowrom but it wouldn't reboot in it. I bought the premimum version and now when I go to download rom it gives me a list but I get a pop up message of "error occurred while processing the rom list" I don't know what this means, can someone help?
You should contact the dev over this issue. Also it is in a sticky thread that clockwork recovery could possibly brick your device. Just a heads up!
Clockwork no longer replaces AMON_RA .... it actually uses amon to boot into clockwork .... so although everyone wants to bad mouth Clockwork are there any confirmed cases of brick since they fixed the Eris problem ? I can say I have used it a few times on my wifes phone cuz she has trackball issues and Verizon refuses to replace her phone ... and I know for a fact that Amon_RA is still the recovery on her phone unless I boot into Clockwork from the update.zip or from Rom Manager (on her phone i can't use the update zip, trackball problems)
ok, thanks for the heads up. I probably won't even bother then. Is this issue for the app itself or just certain Roms. I definitely don't want to brick my Eris. My friends Droid was bricked a month ago I just unbricked now. I don't want that headache.

[Q] Custom Rom on A854 (Want Froyo)

ok guys i have looked EVERYWHERE. I joined this forum just to ask this question, as the name suggests, i was a recent iphone/ipod touch jailbreaker and just recently switched to android, and am currently not very familiar with the terminology and exploits..
I have been using a rooted A854 on Ntelos. It is a pretty locally based company near charlottesville, va. It is quite similar to telus in canada, but with very close ties to sprint in the shenandoah valley.
when i originally tried to root via a vulnerable recovery with rsd lite and a froyo, prerooted version, it kept failing so my friend downloaded and installed universal androot which worked like a charm. The only thing was that nandroid wasnt possible via that method, and i still didnt have Froyo.
Recently, when i installed ROM manager, I was able to flash Clockworkmod's open recovery, and was able to successfully make a nandroid. I am however interested in installing a custom ROM with froyo.
I have looked into Motofrenzy and Cyanogen 6 (unofficial port for Milestone)[/URL] which were available via nandroid restore.
When i was looking it was telling me to put the file for the rom in nandroid/adbrecovery but i have no such location on my sd card.
It also says that in order for me to maintain 3g access, i need the local 3g band file, which is also not available from the rom sites.
if anyone was successful in flashing a custom rom to the A854 via nandroid restore with custom 3g bands, could you please help me.
Also any additional help would be appreciated...
Thanks in advance

i also have da same phone with ntelos its really a rebranded moto droid not milestone which is a gsm phone so only flash droid roms . in clockwork mod after flashing recovery go to back up current rom and do a nandroid back up . because it only gives da sdcard about 20 sec. to mount it usually say error cant mount just quickly hold down x and power and it will boot into recovery on da second try . go down 2 nandroid do a back up then reboot in clockwork go 2 download a rom and flash away
so your saying that i need to boot into recovery twice? and yeah i know its a rebranded droid but i thought that i needed roms for the milestone (i guess they were referring to the gsm version). Are you sure that any droid rom will work? Because the bootloader is locked down and the roms depend on changing that correct?
OK. i think i found out one of my problems. Since my friend and i were never able to successfully flash a vulnerable recovery, my phones recovery mode kept booting into android default. I had an update.zip with GOTS recovery in it and it would fail signiture verification, but when i booted into recovery through rom manager it would let me into clockworkmods recovery... i updated to it there and it went through so i think i can flash a rom now... if only i werent so chicken
yeah droid1 roms (cdma) i don't know much about open recovery or vulnerable recovery i just used androot 1 click root to get root then used rom manager to flash clockwork mod recovery did a nandroid and been rom surfing ever sense. im on like my 4th 854 and they all have dat boot twice issue it only when u try to like install a rom straight from clockwork
Man, i can not tell you how much you helped me, i have searched everywhere for weeks for what you just told me!
So i can just install roms straight from rom manager and they will all work? freaking beast. Thanks a ton
Oh and btw if you havent overclocked i recommend you do so with an app from the market, milestone overclock... SO HELPFUL, it makes the phone so much faster... i have it set to 1200 mhz and 80 vsel with no distinct loss in battery life.
so which roms have you been using and how did you get froyo
i have da paid version of rom manager so i just flash overclocking kernels from there to go with wuteva rom i flash cause most custom roms max at 800mhz just make sure it says kernels for any rom . i been using a rom i got from the custom rom section on the droid forums called ultimate droid 2.1.0 really customizable if dats a word lol
Ntelos
So you have th ntelos milestone using a custom rom, how did you get your data and mms working ? Do you have the APN setting for ntelos?
I dont have to change those? my data worked but I didn't try mms

ntelos
Ahh ok I just finished flashing to cm6.1 and it works flawless then you simply go to voice dial and say open apn's and edit the mms setting to be ----mms.ntelospcs.net then all is well, I have voice, data, and mms all working.
so m tried froyo but it wouldn't recognize my sd... I got back by putting in my other sd and installing cyanogen 5 again... i really want cyanogen 6.1... ugh... imma try again to update to froyo but with my other sd

flash back 2 your stock ntelos rom click on voice dialer it should say " say a command " then you say "open APN's" sometimes it takes a couple of tries but it will show a list of APN settings copy it down on a piece of paper . now when you flash another rom do the same thing with da voice dialer but change da settings from verizon to da ntelos settings you wrote down press menu click save changes . reboot now you should have mms working . hope this helps
Ok guys thanks for all this help for everyone here and especially me. If someone wanted to make this into a non question post with maybe a step by step guide? i suppose i could but im feeling awfully lazy right now so yeah..
Ntelos
Yea not much love for the Ntelos folks here so we need to stick together
yeah we really do

well today is a new problem, i flashed the liquid frozen yogurt 1.95 and lost my data 3g connection, i can turn it off then back on and it will come on for about 10 mins then 3g will be gone until i turn it off and on again...Any ideas?
well does it switch to 1x or does it just leave... you could also try to toggle airplane mode on/off... every so often my data switches from five bars 3g to 2 bars 1x and toggling airplane mode normally fixes it... but if you lose it completely I recommend you try to either nandroid back to stock or attempt to send mms or call someone and see what happens...

I resolved my loosing data connection, there is a setting in the connections and wireless tab that you can choose Home or automatic and it was set to automatic, I changed it to Home and bingo all good...

[Q] Help restoring phone needed

Sprint Hero
8gb new SD card
Was rooted to a cyanogen mod 6 (???)
The other day my sd card needed to be replaced. This card had my backup info on it, but became corrupted. I tried using various utilities in Win7 to try to fix the card, but had no success. Somewhere during the process of everything, I must have erased/corrupted the info on the phone itself, as it will no longer boot.It just freezes at the HTC screen.
I am trying to flash a new rom to the phone via the sd card using the hboot method. I have tried various roms, and had one actually start to install itself, but at the end it said the system info is older (not sure of the exact words) and would not proceed. So now I am stuck in what to do.
I want to get my phone working. I don't care if it is the basic stock OS, or something better at this point, as I can mod it once get it up and running. I am able to get to the clockword recovery prompts (if this helps any).
Any help in resolving my problem would be appreciated! Specific steps would even be better
I can't stand being without a phone... and this is driving me crazy!
U still have a recovery on ur phone?
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
i have clockwork, if that is what you are referring to???
Run the RUU from bootloader and restore to factory. Re-root and you'll be good to go.
If you still have Clockwork recovery you can flash a new ROM from there and the problem should be fixed as well.
Is this a new ROM you are working on?
Thank you.. I think I have it working again.. I downloaded a rom from this link... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581521 and it booted back up....
so, if I want to go to a different rom, say CM 7, or even a different one all together... I can do it from here using rom manager, right ??????? Thanks for your help!!!!!
Did you make sure you were fully charged. My phone sometimes refuses to get past the white HTC screen. If I make sure it's charged and sometimes I pull the battery and just let it sit. I always boots. It never did this on any rom previous to gingerbread. I would do this before spending an hour or two rru'ing or reflashing. My phone didn't seem to like the cwr 3.0.0.5 either, lots of booting issues. I had to downgrade back to 2.5.whatever. Looks like you got it fixed though.

Moved to Q&A...

Clockwork disaster

Tried to restore a clockwork mod backup. It restores, the phone reboots, the music plays, but all I get is a black screen! Any suggestings, or do I have to start over!
Need more info. Gingerbread, Froyo, what Rom, etc. More info will get u a better answer to ur situation.

Sorry about that. Anyhow, reflashed i9000 stock and all is well. Had to reinstall apps but I don't care. Just a shame I cannot use clockwork reliably. Got the Galaxy S screen, but when it should have switched to the Android screen, black screen. Music played though, and that was it. Reflashed with Odin, good ol' Odin, and no worries. Anyhow, specs below.
Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband I9000UGJL2
Kernal 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVB-CL118186reorient_G#10
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWJVB
Cappy working fine now, but not being able to reliably use Clockwork is a shame. I've flashed several modems with no problem, but restore doesn't seem to work.
Another weird thing. If I go into the Clockwork App and say reboot to recovery, I get stuck with the little green Android guy and the garbage can. However, if I power the phone down and reboot, holding the Vol up and Power key, I get into Clockwork recovery no problem. I can live with this, but I eventually want to expand my knowlege and try new Roms. But, I'm happy with this stock. Really, REALLY happy after dealing with the crippling ATT crap, and want to be able to go back to this clean I9000 whenever I wish.
Not a pressing issue. Holiday weekend, phone working, I'm just NOT going to play with it right now. But, any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
BTW, I know saying "I get stuck with the little green Android guy and the garbage can" makes me sound like a pathetic noob. Well, I AM a pathetic noob.
Also, THIS post should go down in history. Awesome instructions, and freed this AT&T slave. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061203
The clock work app? You mean rom manager? That app isn't all that useful on our phones in the first place since w have all that stuff baked in. not to mention you are on a leaked firmware for another device. Use the key combos for recovery and download mode, until you flash a custom rom that has an extended power menu with those options.
As for cwm back up and restores, I don't bother with those at all. Just flash whichever rom you want and use titanium backup to back up your apps and restore just apps with it. Never system data.
There are so many damn roms. I can't decide. Thanks. Other than the clockwork this rom and kernal is very stable and fast.
