i'm having a problem with the usb of this device its a sprint galaxy tab i brought it used. under menu / settings / wireless and network i dont see an options for usb and when i plug in the usb cord to the computer theres a red x on the battery, windows doesnt even prompt me to install drivers i'm lost on what to do next
Try to use a different usb cord. . . By the way. . . What rom are you using in your tab? Because it seems that BOCA ROM doesnt have usb setting
i'm using the stock sprint rom and the usb cord is brand new i brought it from the t-mobile store yesterday
also what would the cord have to do with no usb options showing up under wireless and networking
Use a different usb port, and try a different pc.
Under setting>>wireless & network>>usb setting which do you choose? This option is important as your usb cord function depend on the selection of usb option. If you choose kies samsung, make sure you have the software install on your PC. If mass storage, make sure your have SD card inside and its not corrupted.
The battery with the x red cross i think is normal each time you connect it to PC. If you connect it to AC plug, then the x cross will not show.

Ok there is a similar post on this. Plug tablet in and charge it. While tablet is charging unplug your pc and then reboot it up to reset the usb ports. take your tablet and connect usb cable to pc. Ensure you have the samsung usb drivers loaded. Put your tablet in download mode and using odin try reflashing. You can try this if you don't have a second pc.

Hi all,
My interest these days is to make the USB OTG working on the GT-P1000 thing that cannot be done via a standard OTG cable. When i started searching in the internet i found a video on how to mount a sub stick on a GT-P1000 using a usb Y cable (3 males), the samsung charger (with the cable of course) and 2 sex changers (female-female USB connectors), i made my own Y cable as it's not easy to find one in the nearby stores, here attached the cabling schema (i will be grateful if someone can check it) and also my device properties.
The problem is that the tab couldn't recognize any of the USB devices, despite that i tried the overall settings of the USB Host Controller application, so can someone help me solving this issue please?
FYI my tab succeeded the test performed by USB OTG Checker,
Many thanks in advance for your help

As I said in my initial post, the standard OTG cable doesn't work on the GTP1000, but some people (in youtube) succeeded somehow to connect a USB device to their tablets using Y cable (made from different usb connectors) and the standard charger, i want to know how this Y cable was made.

Yes. The reason is very simple. There is no +5 V (supply output voltage) on 30-pin connector.
---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:58 PM ----------
I use the next algorithm:
1. Make initial corrections with USB Host Checker.
2. Reboot
3. Connect flesh drive to USB hub (with external supply).
4. Connect Tab to USB hub.
5. Start USB Host Controller:
Default operation mode - Set to auto-host mode
Operation mode - Auto-host mode
USB host driver - S3C HS (USB2)
Mount Points - /storage/UsbOtgDrives
6. Scanning process may take a long time - up to 10 minutes.
When scanning ends, go to the 2-nd tab of USB Host Controller.
7. Click on flesh drive and choose Reset.
8. Start USB OTG Helper.
9. Mount flash drive.
10. Profit!
Thank you MarviXDA for the detailed procedure, i will try it and let you know the result asap.

Do you have any further tips?
Can you find 2-4 Gb flash drive with LED indicator?

I am using a 4GB usb stick with led indicator, but it was not flashing during the procedure.

During the scanning process (Step 6) indicator is not flashes?
If it so, may be bad electrical contacts?

The indicator didn't flash in any step, btw the scanning process didn't take more than 1 second, i don't know why.

Make sure that power is supplied to the flash drive. And check the voltage polarity.

Power is correctly supplied to the flash drive (polarity is ok), but i noticed that the indicator flashes only when D+ and D- are connected (to PC for example), MarviXDA, can you please take a look at the attached cabling schema in my first post and tell me if it's correct?

Yes. it's correct.
Only one remark. Too many connections. I use the Y-cable - male and 2 female. And my cable is short - about 20 cm.
Hand made
I don't have a factory USB cable for my droid 3 and it seems like I need one for the computer to notice it. Is there any way to get around this?
Just need a usb cable, a motorola usb cable is preferred, but I have used several other brands and generics.
A factory cable allows you to power the phone through usb without a battery
If pc does not see it, problem is drivers or hardware failure.

Hello everybody!
whenever i leave my mini connected to my computer via usb cable, then reboot the computer, the phone does not recognize the usb connection anymore.
even when i unplug the cable and plug it back in.
i have to reboot the phone, then it works again. this always happens exactly like that, 100% reproducable.
i am using cyanogenmod 7.2.
is there a solution?
thanks.

May be a kernel issue. Play with different kernels.

It looks like USB-C port of my S10e is faulty. It charge phone, but not transfer any data. I tried 4 different cables. PC wont recognize connected phone, Odin shows empty ports, settings in device has USB settings grayed out. Even after factory reset.
So I guess there is no way to flash different recovery without working data on USB port?

Sure.
Then I don't know. Maybe take the phone in for service? Is Developer mode on? Is USB debugging enabled? When you connect your phone and PC, it should ask you to approve the connection. If he doesn't look for it, I think he should look for it. I did it a long time ago, so I don't remember very well.

Sell it to someone who does not need data transfer via USB would be more cost effective. Repairing USB port on S10e is ridiculously expensive.
