looks nice, but why aren't you using http://developer.android.com/reference/android/accounts/AccountManager.html ?
Asking for login/pass with internet permissions will be suspicious to many users, especially when it's unnecessary for what you're doing.

Very good idea, it will be included in the next version.
Ya I was just about to say that lol
Looks Great
So wanted to purchase this app...please implement user/password feature as stated above. Then I will buy it...kinda creepy as is having to input my info atm
Looks nice, though as ZanshinG1 pointed out, Account Manager would be a much better way of using the Google account.

Better than Newsr? How does it compare?
I quite like the look of this, but I'm really loathe to buy a Reader app when it's only a matter of time until Google themselves release one that's optimized for tablets. I haven't bought Newsr for the same reason.
If you release an ad supported version then I'd jump all over it.
We just released version 1.1 with integrated credentials support - enjoy!
Again, thanks for the input

Maybe we will release an ad version. But we would rather not bloat the interface with ads. I dont think google will release a good reader app for tablets, the browser one is no good and the one for phones isnt really great either in my opinion. Thats why we thought of doing one that looks the way we want for our selves..

As it works now, the news wont get marked as read. When you sync it purges the news and downloads new news. So you can decide, tell us how you want it and we will make it work like that.
Newsr is a small investment and very good. Actively developed. Even if Google releases its own Reader app that you prefer, you will have gotten your money's worth. What I really want is a scrollable Reader widget which allows me to select which feed or label I want in the widget.
I like the look of this Honey Reader. When it sorts out the login Account Manager issue, I'll give it a whirl. Price is fair, too. I think people forget they can still do 15 minute try and return for no cost if they want. It's important that we support a development community for Droid if we want it to become as robust as Apple's.
Edit: just realized the account manager issue is resolved. Off to try this now.

png6: Great looking app, especially after you've taken care of the login issue. If you create a free ad-sponsored version, I will write about it on the XDA main page.
(Just toss me a PM if you decide to do that, please.)
Tried it. Great potential. 100 max items is not usable for me. I have wayyyyy too many labels.
Noblesse Oblige
This application began as a themed method to access the same Siri servers used by Jailbroken iOS devices, but has since grown to surpass even those.
It now has offline recognition, allowing access to everything that is still available without an Internet connection. It has social broadcasting, which allows users to send messages to the others using the application. It also now supports launching applications and improved navigation.
Future features will include leaderboards to resemble the reports given in the show and integration with Facebook and Twitter, to accompany current integration with YouTube.

It wouldn't connect to your server, so I switched it to one of the free English/German servers you have listd and it's working great.
The voice recognition on it is freaking amazing, even if I'm basically whispering.
Great job integrating all these different things together.

Pretty much any server listed will provide the basics, just not the extensions. The only issue I have seen is many of those servers are run from Germany, so grammar isn't always perfect and the commands are unnatural.
I will openly admit that I purchased, tore apart, and then based my application on siri0us, which is partnered with grwh. I have been trying to keep the unthemed portions similar, much like a Siri theme would be to allow people the option of using either application without it being a drastic change or confusing process.
Surprisingly, though, some of the grwh moderators have been the most opposition on this project. Even with the server being open source and the mass amount of updates and improvements I have offered back to them, they have this view that I am trying to profit from their server. The application price is unrelated to the server, but the proceeds are used to maintain it. This comes from sacrificing any profit to provide this service back to the user instead. This issue has been addressed and hopefully does not threaten the development of this project.

Iris is like the original Siri. It only works right on certain devices, the responses are generic, and you get stuck with what they give you, including ads.
On another note, that application forces religion on the user by responding with numerous references to God and Christianity. This is something I feel deserves some sort of disclaimer and isn't really appropriate for applications that span multiple countries and religions.
This works with pretty much anything, the responses vary and are alway being expanded and updated, you can choose the voice engine, the server can be switched, custom responses can be submitted to the server, no religious belief is chosen for the user, and (thanks to the wolfram plugin) you can still ask things like how much caffeine in a mountain dew.

I am working on the app launching as a separate plugin. The reason for this is that the server has no way of handling things like that, so having a launch command pass through the server would be silly. The local plugin will intercept the command instead.
The alternative was to have the server pass back a value that was read to launch the app, but I would be running the only server that handled it. This will provide the best method for adding the functionality to any server someone chooses to use.

Nice, can't wait to try this!
Very nice, downloaded and works perfectly .. thanks for the tip!
The Facebook and Twitter plugins currently return errors when trying to use either of them. This is a known issue that is being addressed and they are still a work in progress.

First of all, great start, but is is possible to customize the theming? Or for that should I go with a different, non-anime themed app?
Also, where is the best place to submit suggestions for responses?

Sirious! is an unthemed Siri client, but with theirs you lose the search button launch, some GPS functionality, orientation handling, and the default server is configured to their public one (which gets rid of the server theme components, but also most of the plugins and improvements to the server).
In the app menu, there is a button for custom commands that will take you directly to the page to submit custom responses, or under "Interactions" on the main site listed in the first post. If you mean altering the server responses for other things, you can suggest them through the "Contact Developer" link on Google Play's app page or the site "Resources".
Removing the theme would make this just another bland Siri clone, and that was the whole point of developing a new one. If the theme is really that much of a problem or makes you feel uncool, you may want to wait until sirious! updates their app for Siri servers or try Skyvi, Assistant, Ever Friends, Iris, or any other "generic" voice assistant app.

Well, it's not so much that it's uncool, it's just not Jarvis
Anyway, the main issue I had was with setting alarms and sending texts, neither of which I could manage to do.

I would have done Alfred and the Bat communicator if I really wanted to meet the Warner Bros. legal team. Anime companies tend to be less strict when it comes to "fan creations" but it's often an issue with those themes being considered "lame" by the general public. I tried not to go too crazy but not make it just a background that didn't fit anything else.
I did catch some errors on alarms that are being looked into and texts seem to be hit or miss. Both are plugins issues with the server so they will get fixed without having to update.

Yeah, the old famous marvel lawsuits. shame on them.
Anyway, one thing that you should probably look at is the landscape mode. Right now it just stretches the background image, which looks terrible. I had some more response oddities, but I assume you can get those from server logs.

Android 4.2 doesn't even seem well thought out, let alone designed. Is Google playing the Apple game, tying us into their universe and making us take whatever the deliver?
Do they even care how many apps won't work or have to have multiple purchases to support their multi-user "security"? Should have just left the multi-user thing to 3rd party devs. They fail on this, IMO.

Google doesn't care.. Remember when 4.1.1 broke a bunch of paid apps by sticking them in the asec folder which wasn't mounted at startup? So since it wasn't mounted Android never saw the apps during boot and paid keyboards and widgets disappeared after a reboot. MONTHS went by before it was addressed. Meanwhile developers of those paid apps had angry customers and money lost because of Google
This will be the same song and dance.. Google is getting very sloppy with development and communication with developers pre-release seems to not exist.
I love it.

Lets keep personal opinions about users from different nations to yourself. This is a development forum, not a place to vent personal feelings. Now keep it on topic.
Stop stereotyping. People are always so quick to hate on Americans. Yes there are bad Americans...but every country has them. Even your country. But I'm not going to go there since I happen to like most people from the UK that I've encountered...it would be unfair to label your entire nation as arrogant, ungrateful, and judgmental because of your behavior.

I suppose YMMV, but I love 4.2. Smoother than 4.1, and nice features. The only thing that really seems half-assed is the multiuser support.
What is your problem with multi-user? For me and my daughter it is working great - could not be better.
I did add my account to her user ID Play store so she could see the apps we own and install the link.
Performance is good - all our preferences and accounts are separated - and I really can't think of any other features I would want.

I haven't played with multi-user yet, can you add the account just for the play store and not have someone access the gmail account associated with it?
That's my gripe, I want to be able to for ex, have my nephew play with my tablet and all the games etc, but don't want him to access to my gmail etc. I thought this was perfect for that but then read about the app issue. Also, I assume there is no type of limited user, in that a secondary account can still uninstall apps, but at least they can't delete files from the other users home dir.
Yes - my account is just added to my daughter's play store. Open play store and look at add account option.
Works perfectly to give her access to the apps we share.
NO shared Gmail.
Forgot something important:
When you add a second account to play store, you are given a bunch of items you can synch, like contacts.
Uncheck them all!

Stick mount wasn't a feature of 4.1. It was hacked in which is why you had to be rooted and use an app. You'll get USB support again. Multiuser support screwed with the storage. That's all.
New tweaks are a little rough around the edges but will be smoothed out soon enough. Give it time, damn guys. I personally think its no better or worse then 4.1.2. We just have a few new toys now.

4.2 = 1st time I've truly experienced "butter"...
Sure, I kinda miss the bells & whistles I had on Codename Android, and I'll definitely check out any forthcoming 4.2 updates, but scrosler's stock, rooted, deodexed ROM is far & away the smoothest, quickest ROM I've used on any Android device. Stock kernel, no tweaks, plain vanilla is for me for now. Way better Google experience. OK, I sideloaded the AOSP browser for Flash, but that's it. Chrome is much more responsive on 4.2 than 4.1.2 - Everything is noticeably quicker - I even detect better wireless response. Your results may vary, but I'm not going back!

Well, I do belive that you are right. I also feared (and expected, to tell the truth) that something EXACTLY like this would happen. I tried NOT to update the system, but why the hell did they keep forcing it when we obvoiusly do not want it? And probably, they must have known that it will broke a lot of things...
Just to explain: for me, there was a message with three buttons: upgrade, more info (which leads to seme text and bigger "upgrade" button and "later", but that "later" means only "ask at next screen unlock" which made the tablet realy hard to use. So, what choice have I had?
It seems like alot of One users out there are not that keen on blinkeed, and would prefer to disable it, and for some if given the choice would rather have it removed it altogether. I have to say i like the look of blinkfeed, even though i do not own the One at present.
Is there anyone who actually likes blinkfeed, and finds it to be a useful feature??
Reason i have started this thread that there seems to be quite alot of negativity surrounding blinkfeed.
Would be very interested to hear what you guys think.
I plan on having blinkfeed as my central home screen, with regular android widget screens to the left or right.
When I need some quick info, I can either look @ the lock screen or blinkfeed, when I want to check my calendar or emails, or w.e. quickly I can just scroll left or right.
So - ye I am excited to try it out. If I end up being disappointed, then so be it. But I don't think I will be.
I like it, it's just a news aggregator for content your interested in.
Why would you not like it? It's brought up loads of articles I would of otherwise not of seen, I wish you could integrate things like BBC News etc for the UK but for the moment it's very good.
I don't get why loads of people are moaning, if you don't like it set a different screen as your 'home' but I happen to think it's a very useful function and find myself checking it quite a lot throughout the day to see 'whats new'.

You will have to scroll right, because the Blinkfeed screen can't be moved. It is the first screen and that's it, any other screens you have come after it.
Definitely needs more feeds from BBC News / Sport etc. And you'd think it could tell the difference between football (soccer) and football (American)...

i always had both a 4x4 friend stream widget and a 4x4 reader widget on my phone, so im really looking forward to using blinkfeed.
it definitely needs more options from what I've heard though, cant believe bbc isnt in it!
I think that as soon as more feeds and options become available to view, it will be more popular. At the moment though its just a drain on the battery imo xD
Have to say I love blink feed so much that I have hardly used Flipboard since Friday.....it's a brilliant feature and as long as you set it up properly can be invaluable like today, didn't know Gears of War reviews were out till I saw that in the feed......normally I would have to get that info from a deeper source/app......I find it a brilliant and genuine innovative tool......
AW: Who actually likes blinkfeed?
I like it
Gesendet von meinem HTC One mit Tapatalk 2
Apple iOS reserves a whole home page just for a search bar and I see no one complaining or even talking about it but when HTC does something better with the same home page people start moaning about it. You don't have to use it and if you even don't want to see it, it's Android, just install different launcher. OMG people are just so weird.
I like it a lot. In fact it's one of the features I like the most.
I don't get why there's so much dislike on it, I think it looks great. I use Reader a lot (probably the most) and would love a fancy, good-looking way to get my feeds.
I agree though that the user should have the option to disable it. Don't like when things are forced upon.
Yeah I'm in the same boat as almost everybody else on this thread. I like BlinkFeed and I've stopped using other similar services (i.e. Flipboard, Pulse, ...) almost completely.
People don't like change I guess. It's amazing how they form an opinion before even spending 2 seconds with the product. If it were up to consumers, we'd still be using rotary phones...
I'm looking forward to it. I just hope it's customizable enough and has enough sources I'm interested in. They say they'll be opening it up to a lot more content so that sounds like I won't be disappointed.
I dont even use it lol.
I like it, i use it as my main screen.
I don't dislike it, but i don't really use it, i would like to get used to it, but i would like it as the middle screen of my homescreens, so until that is changed/fixed i will continue with Nova Launcher for now.
I just set the second 'home' screen to become my default home screen so whenever I start to use it more all I have to do is sweep to the left.
TRY THE FREE VERSION OF THIS WEB BROWSER
If you are not familiar with the free version of Naked Browser then please see this thread on XDA Developers. Please try the free version first before you even consider Naked Browser Pro.
WHAT'S NEW RIGHT NOW?
Naked Browser Pro is the paid version and the plan is to add many cool features in the coming weeks and months. Differences between the Pro and free versions include whitelists (JavaScript, cookies, user agent, images, geolocation), gestures, action customizations (link long press, double tap, tab close method), screenshots, and quite a lot more. See http://nakedbrowser.com/pro/ for help and how to import bookmarks from the free version. See the Play Store listing or change logs in this thread for what else is new.
PRETTINESS / UGLINESS OF THE USER INTERFACE
Currently, the look of the user interface of this app is a low priority. Why? There are too many other cool features which I want to implement first. I am a solo developer so I have limited resources and I must prioritize. Having to deal with graphics as I change underlying code is a waste of resources.
NEW PERMISSIONS / YOUR PRIVACY
A main goal of the free version was to limit the permissions required. That limit has been removed in order to add all kinds of new features. However, just like the free version, Naked Browser Pro will never spy or monitor you in any way. The primary motivation of Naked Browser has always been to provide a web browser for Android that is trustworthy.
THANK YOU
I appreciate your feedback and support so thank you very much. The positive comments keep me motivated and the negative ones are helpful too, as long as they are backed up with specific details in order to help development.

**** People asked for this so they got it. Hey, it's the Pro version. Adobe Flash causes many crashes, uses lots of resources, and is used by companies to track you. I say leave it "on demand" or "off"!
Thanks again XDA Developers!!!
I love naked browser, I've been using it prolly since right after you posted it for the first time. I've never once had a problem with the browser and i love that it respects my privacy unlike the more popular browsers. Thank you for this great browser. nice respectable price for the pro version. I just bought it to support my daily driver browser.
Finally
Instantly bought it.

Congratulations! The first thing I see is that both the name and the icon are better than they used to be
I have only 2 option wished left now
-Text size in percentage (I think you already said it was coming)
-Option in more option tabs to change text size
Another thing I'd like to see but not sure if possible would be different text sizes for landscape and portrait
Otherwise it's already the almost perfect browser

ami, what about paypal?
can I?
Works great, thank you.
Thanks everyone! I am really excited about the features coming up. Thank you for joining me on this before all of the features have been released: that is awesome!

Thank you! So many people did not like the icon and name--I had to do something. The icon now says "Browser NBPro" which is more family friendly. It also takes care of the situation where the name got cut off and said "Naked Bro". Funny but true!

Thank you! Yes, I plan to add the percentage zoom functionality in the next week or two. My concern with different text sizes for landscape/portrait: 1) resizing on orientation change will cause the scroll position to change which can be irritating, 2) why would you want the text size to change based on orientation? Isn't the point just to make the text readable? Isn't that independent of the orientation? Thoughts on this? Regardless, I'm willing to try it out.

Thank you! I spent 15 minutes drawing the new logo and this time I even looked at a map while I was drawing it.
I was thinking of making something more polished, corporate and maybe I will one day. For now, I want to keep working as I was before. "Make shiny" is a low priority. I want cool new features that really make a difference and I want the Pro version to be a natural progression from the free version.

Well, you've already given me a donation. The problem with paypal is how will you get updates? Do you have access to any other markets? Maybe Amazon?
Hi ami, sad, but no other accounts or markets i guess, it would be easiest way to share a link with your update. Isn't?
Good luck in development

Hi Aminaked,
Are you familiar with how Opera Mobile displays an arrow on screen when you scroll quickly in either direction? Tapping the arrow takes you to the top or bottom of the page. Please consider adding something like that. I know we now have the ability to keep the third menu row visible in the pro version, with the navigation buttons always there. That does help.

maybe ami can upload it to other market too, like getjar. That doesn't impose a country restriction like Amazon.

Thanks! Bought it and will try it out.

haha, that's good, we don't need it shiny, it's already so good. I even like the looks! But I already told you that back in the NB non-pro thread when you released it the first time xP
Hello.
I have little suggestion.
In Poland credit cards are not so popular, and I don't have one - so I cant buy this app.
Could you make another way to buy the app? OR Share there for free, but with ads?
Thank you.

There is a free version of the browser, no ads!
I really like this browser, but I'm just wondering why you had to make a separate thread to release a pro version.
