Hey. Im not sure if there is a thread similar to this or not, I tried looking around and cant see any. The one i did see, was for a tablet.
Here goes....
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i. It has gingerbread on. I rooted it 2 days ago as eventually I want to install JB onto it. I Tried to install TWRP (TWRP-2.4.1.0-cooper) onto my device, then rebooted after a 'successful' install. Only when I reboot, even now, it doesnt boot up. It gets to the Samsung screen, then stays there. Left it all night ( 12 hours or so ) and checked this morning, still the same.
HERE IS HOW I DID IT:
1. Rebooted into Recovery ( by holding Volume Up + Home + Power )
2. Apply update from sdcard
3. Scrolled to the file (TWRP-2.4.1.0-cooper)
4. Said successfully installed and rebooted.
I then swapped SD Card with another phone so i could remove this file of the Samsung phone, and replace with with recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix then put the SD Card back into samsung.
SOOO, today I tried the same procedure, but with another custom recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix) and now I get this messages:
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
I have even used ODIN, and tried to flash that way, BUT IT SAYS MY PHONE IS NOT CONNECTED.
All I want to do now is be able to boot, NORMALLY so i can access my phone again. My phone is on contract, so I cant send it back as it has been rooted.
PLEASE HELP.
thanks in advance.
P.S ON THE ACTUAL RECOVERY PAGE, I GET THIS ERROR MESSAGE:
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
AW: [Q] tried to install TWRP on galaxy ace now wont boot
Dont think those recoveries are for s5830i
Theyre for the s5830.
Correct me if im wrong

I have spent the last 4 hours googling and looking through forums. So please dont moan if i have put this in the wrong place etc!
I have just bought a samsung galaxy mini and rooted it and unlocked it for use on other networks.
I then went to put the cyanogenmod music rom on and it sat in a loop.
I can reset phone but it wont load the rom.
When i go into android system recovery, straight away it comes up with errors :
E: Cant mount / cache/recovery/last log
E: Cant open / cache/recovery/last log
E: Failed to mount / cache (invalid arguement)
I have then gone and attempted to wipe date/factory reset and it comes up with lots of fails that scroll through but i cant read as too quick
If i also wipe cache,it basically does the same !
I then try to apply update from SD Card and im using the cyanogenmod music rom
It finds update, opens update, then does a lot of errors (too quick to read), and loops back around to the main menu again
I have tried a few roms, but this is the same on everyone! Anyone able to help??? Please !!

Flash Stock Gingerbread first as said here http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/08/upgrade-samsung-galaxy-popmini-gts5570.html
It will probably solve your problem then you can flash any custom roms.
i bought new galaxy ace on 12.3.2012. from india.

i downloaded file upd_1.zip and copied to the sd card as per youtube video.

I had this problem with one zip file.. Don't remember through which one I successfully rooted.I'll be back in a bit.
Do you have stock recovery or already CWM..? cause you know if you flash clockworkmod first then you cant root through it.. you just have to go back to stock recovery --> root --> and then back to CWM. Of course if you HAVE stock recovery now then I dont know.
Try the other zip file -Ace Gingerroot...i guess you found this files at android flip.com so youll find this ither file over there ...cheers p.s. That update.zip dindt work for me too but thr other one did
Edit: u gotta download cwm 4 or 5 (i prefer 5) to b able to root..ull find these files and tutorials here in xda or at androidflip.com....just google it..
P.s. I m not a marketing agent of androidflip.com...i just like thei r work XD

well i dont know anything about what you said in the terms haha.
i am a noob just bought the new device and went to youtube. saw the upd_1
file and did as per instructions.
Also its very annoying to go in recovery mode. i mean i press middle button and
then power up but it just starts normally. i do 20-30 restarts and by fluke once
it gets into recovery mode lol. what am i doing wrong?
just cant get into recovery mode at one shot.
I have downloaded root.zip file from xda developer.will it work?
First press thehome button --keep it pressed and then press the power button till screen comes on..u should be in recovery mode...if u r new to android i suggest u do some research on rooting-pros and cons ..some good ones can be found at androidpolice.com....and never mess with rom.manager or flash wrong cwm recovery on your phone--YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!!!

One more thing on stock recovery u dont get into recovery mode at one shot...i guess samsung dont want users to mess up their phones ..its ok to try 5 times..25 times is a lmfao XD XDX DX DXD

Yeah, I probably bricked my Galaxy Mini. Tried to install a custom ROM (The name starts with C, can't remember its name. But it should be pretty popular) by Samsung Recovery Mode by mistake (i blaim my 2 day knowledge at rooting lol). Now it's stuck at boot screen which says "ANDROID" with small white letters. Is there any way to get the stock ROM back? I know Odin can get it working, but for some reason, it won't notice my phone. It was in Download Mode, when I tried to get it working with Odin.
Also, I'm worried if my phone is already bricked; when I'm in Recovery Mode, it says:
--- Appling Muti-CSC --
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)
So it won't recognize /system anymore for some reason.... If someone helps me, I would be very glad, I don't want to use my old Nokia phone forever (no money for new phone, saving for a computer)... It really sucks.
Odin is not recognizing and you flashed c (chocobread) with stock recovery
don't know how it got installed but whatever
have you had your drivers installed
if not then install kies and completely close it (not remove)
open Odin and put files in it
boot phone in download mode
connect the cable
and start flashing
if you are on windows 7 try using windows xp

You would not brick your phone if u accidentally install custom rom from stock recovery, im quite sure bout that cuz i had a friend who did that once with his ace. Just get into download mode, open ODIN, choose the right OPS and flash back to stock again. Erm if it doesn't detect make sure u have the Samsung usb driver installed on your computer. You csee if it's installed from the programs menu in control panel. It's called Samsung usb driver. Then try flashing again. If it doesn't work, try using another cable or a different port.

C = Chocobread
C = CyanogenMod 7, 9, or 10
But i think you flashed CyanogenMod 7.2, in stock recovery ?!
Well, install Samsung USB Drivers, go to download mode, open Odin and then flash a stock ROM. Done.
Next time, learn to flash a Custom Recovery, OK ?
i tried putting a custom rom on my galaxy pop but odin didnt recognise my phone .i put the rom file on my sd card and then startrd thr phone with home button+start button and selected to install from sd and selected the rom file.after sometime the message came that invalid arguement and installation aborted.after i rebooted my phone,it stuck at samsung startscreen with model number gt s5570..what can i do???help me please..

Flashing ROM via stock recovery is a bad idea... And Odin will only recognise your phone if it's started in download mode. Try following tutorial. Somewhy it works for others...

Firstly, I apologize if this is in the wrong spot.
I'll just get to the point.
So about 6 months ago I was using the Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 (Aus) and as it has a terrible internal memory, I decided to root it and try to get some of the unwanted apps off. Worked like a charm, nothing wrong until I had to take the battery out as it froze one time and now I am stuck with a boot loop -.-
I tried looking into trying to fix it like I had in the past but I got frustrated and gave up. Now in current time, I want to try to fix it and get it working again. So I got the stock firmware as well as the latest version of CWM for it and the recommended version of Odin, I get the phone into download mode and then come across an issue where my laptop says that it's connected (while I have Odin up) but is an unrecognizable device. First thing I do is try to factory reset it through the recovery menu but I get the error- E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block.mmcblk0p2
I did a google search on both the boot loop and the error but I can't do anything people have said to do/try as my laptop isn't letting it be a recognizable device
I have done everything I've read in the past and have learned from past experiences but no luck. So what can I do to get the phone to work again?
If anyone can, give the method with pictures as well as I can do it better through pictures rather than reading it and hoping all goes well
Thanks

Try to carry out the sd card, then use odin to flash ROM Stock again;
after that do in recovery stock a factory rest and wipe cache partition.

What do you mean by carry out the sd card? That's all I'm not understanding, sorry.
And I apologise for the lack of reply, haven't had any wifi since I made this post.
remove the sd card and flash the stock rom
I've done that but my laptop just says USB device not recognized and because of that, Odin can't pick up the phone. This is the only issue I'm having now.

It means that your laptop doesn't recognize your Galaxy Ace, try to install usb drivers again.
alternatively, if you are able to go in revovery mode (CWM):
format the sd-card from the laptop; create a new fat32 partition (primary) and copy on it Cyanogenmod 7.2;
inser the card in your ACE and flash it from recovery;
later you can re-install usb driver on laptop and flash stock rom.

Well from what you said above it seems that somethings wrong with the phones internal memory and not the sd-card. If you are having CWM recovery(the latest one) you can do this-
I assume that your phone is rooted and with CWM installed.
Download any custom rom
Boot into CWM.
Select wipe data reset and you ll see an option saying 'clean wipe to install a new rom' (something like this)
Install zip from sdcard and select the downloaded rom.
Report back if any problem.
All the best.

I've done the custom ROM part, I used Cyanogenmod 7.2 as daniga74 suggested.
But I'm still getting this error message when I tried to wipe data/factory reset in the CWM recovery menu: E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block.mmcblk0p2
Here's a picture of it.
I apologize for it being rotated, the original picture isn't.

Before flash CM 7.2, try to format system and data partition from CWM (advanced menu);
if the operation was successfully flash the rom.

The error says "It fails to format sdext". Because, you don't have a sdext partition. Don't worry about it. It is normal.

are you using Win 8 or 8.1 on your laptop? Because win 8 / 8.1 cant work with samsung driver for s5830 via Odin. You must try it on older OS like win 7 to flash stock ROM.
Late reply/update
Sorry about the reply, haven't had much time to check on this as I've been moving and now have to use public wifi -.-
I have seemed to be able to get the Cyanogenmod to work and act as an OS for now, it's not what I was hoping for but it's letting me use the phone for now and that's good enough for me. Will have to properly flash it when I get the chance to and when I have a Win 7 computer to use, thank you gaineeg for pointing that out. It now makes more sense as to why it never picked up on my laptop (Win 8.1) but it did on my dads computer (Win 7).

Well if your laptop doesnt recognize the device you will need to install the latest drivers of samsung device drivers. And then manually update device drivers from unknown device to adb sooner device. Then try flashing using odin.
