Hello, I'm on a quest to improve battery life as much as i can. I started reading about wakelocks and everything related (i'm pretty new to androidm, the SGSA is my first smartphone).
I'm currently using siri kernel rc-4. As i read, the kernel wakelock "secril_fd-interface" is related to the Fast Dormancy feature. This is currently my biggest kernel wakelock cause.
I'm pretty sure my carrier here in Argentina doesn't support this feature, so i tried to have it disabled. I found a code *#9900# where i could disable fast dormancy.
But checking back a few times on betterbatterystats, the "secril_fd-interface" wakelock is still present, nothing seems to have changed.
Anyone has had this problem ?? Any ideas on how to disable efectively fast dormancy ??
Thank you very much in "advance" :good:
/EDIT: Im so sorry, i swear i thought i was on the Q&A forum.... could some moderator move this thread?
Anyone?

I rooted my phone yesterday to try to get ubuntu on my webtop. Is there anyway that rooting has screwed up my battery at all? My phone is getting much hotter and the battery is draining much faster now.
Any help would be great.
I also had some battery issues after rooting. My phone got very hot and completely discharged the battery in three hours while sitting idle in my bag. I'm not sure what the culprit was, but a factory data reset seems to have fixed my issue.
Sent from my DROID4 using XDA App
I will try that and report back.
how much battery life do you get after rooting?
Interesting. I am rooted and have not seen any loss of battery life. Did you remove or freeze any apps?

Yes I did freeze apps. I factory reset last night and didn't freeze and the phone is doing better so far.
Same here, rooting seems to be affecting battery. All I did was uninstall the bloatware. Gonna see today how it goes. It was fine for a couple days and then just bombed.
Have you guys tried deleting the battery statistics??
I could be that there's something off with the way the usage is occuring through operation that way.
It might help.

I can't find the link right now, but the myth that deleting the battery statistics file improves battery life has been thoroughly debunked.

Send me the link, would love to see it.
The battery statistics, it worked on my RAZR by deleting them, so I would love to see where they 'de-bunked' it as personal experience for me says otherwise.
Got about a half hour more when I did this.

I'll have to reply to that, as the battery stats do not reset upon full charge, but only upon reset of the phone.
I actually don't turn my phone off very often, and have seen stats compile for days on end.
Or at least that was what was happening to my RAZR....
Interesting, though.
I have used Slimbean rom for a while now and I have beeen very happy about it. I thoguht the battery time has been good so I haven't bothered to check it until now.
I charged the phone to 100% and after 9 hours (where I didn't touch it at all) it had drained down to 85% (everything of except wifi). I had Betterbatterystats instaled to se what was draining it and mostly it's this "baseband_xmm_power". Is this from the rom, kernel or maybe even an app?
The only app I can think of is AutomateIt. a automatic setting app but I'm not sure.
Could it be beacuse I have such a bad signal were I live? My phone costantly drops out of range and rconnects all the time.
Create a new post for this really? OP needs to throw himself a facepalm
Everyone here should already know the answer please don't spoonfeed this lazy guy.

Well I can't find the answer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229050&page=19
Read all the post, and there is one kernel wich solves it but it's for another rom.
A brief search shows that about a gazillion people had this same exact problem and there are something like 1000 threads already in this phone's section alone....You found no solution bacause....well there is none! Some kernels are modded so that the baseband wakelock won't show up but it's still there. Ususally on our phone when wiping cache and dalvik you need to do one more normal reboot or it has trouble going into sleep
Moving to custom kernels solved the problem for me.
I'm actually using warewolf v8. It works great.
baseband_xmm_power can not be removed completelly, because it should be an important wakelock for the NVIDIA device. Anyway, the werewolf kernel fixes the excessive wakelocks from it.
Hello.
I am a novice at this, but yesterday I flashed the Tranquille Rom by Bad Seed and I love the rom, but I found today that the battery is dying very quickly.
A friend suggested that I should get a kernal for the battery.
CAn some one suggest one that I can use with the ROM.
Like I said. I am a novice so please forgive my ignorance.

Please use wakelock detector or gsam battery monitor from playstore. Find out which app is running your battery down. I have excellent battery life on the tranquil rom.

I know some process are keeping it awake. But I don't know what it is and the top command seems does not provide much information.
Use better battery stats API from XDA search Google for it
4.0.3 has nice battery life.

Try Greenify, Naptime..

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it's the Google play services that's waking up my device. I have encountered this before and tried various methods in the forum yet still not fixed permanently. Anyway, for now, it's solved by rebooting the device.

Have your device manually power off/on during night say 1144Pm to 445AM. Some folks received many calls I don't so no need to have my phone on ALL night. Plus it helps my phone last way. .Way longer. This are my stats just from yesterday...http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58a44fe5442fc/Screenshot_20170214-174412.png?

What ROM are you using and what kernel ? The reason I am asking is, that kernels really matter in terms of battery life.

OOS4.0.3, Franco r12. I know kernel matters. But it seems lots of people are getting great battery life with Franco.

Well... I don't have Google Play Services eating up my battery... when I go to battery stats, the most percentage that is eating up my battery is Android OS which is at 3% But I did hear some users complaining about bad drain from Google Play Services. Try this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/help/google-play-services-battery-drain-t3537545
Also, use this kernel: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/development/kernel-elementalx-op3-1-00-t3521298 with instructions on how to get best SOT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSa-9aWmTFk
So first try the methods to fix the battery drain issue with the thread that I posted, and then go and install the Elemental X kernel, and tweak it using the instructions on the youtube video Should work like a charm !
I'm with Franco and in getting amazing battery life. You should clean flash oxygen and the flash Franco kernel again

Does anybody else notice that battery life on this 12.1 is horrid?? I'm on the May update and man oh man it seems like I've got to stay close to a power source to charge this thing.
Yeah, same here, unfortunately.
Before that it was the phone with the best battery life I've ever got.

Yea I'm not sure what happened there but there's gotta be something behind the scenes killing it.
"Google" app is draining the battery.
Remove update and never update it again or just disable it will help
