EDIT 23 FEB 2012 :
=== THIS THREAD IS OBSOLETE.. THERE IS A LOT OF DEVELOPMENT FROM ATRIX-DEV-TEAM AND FAUX SINCE I LAST POST, AND WHOEVER FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM BETTER TRY THE NEWER KERNEL.. ===
Old Post :
This is CM7 stock kernel extracted from CM7weekly29jan. Credit goes to Atrix-dev-team.
I found out that this is the only kernel in Gingerbread for atrix doesn't have Partial Wakelock by AlarmManager. I know that stock froyo doesn't have wakelock too.
Half day using this kernel, AlarmManager only wake for less than 30sec, and take less than 1% of the whole partial lock, compared to before, it could take up to few hours and 90%+.
I create this thread so that CM based ROM (CM7,Miui,Neutrino) user can test this kernel, if this non-wakelock really improve battery or not, or its just show different kind of log and had no effect on battery.
I only got hold atrix for a few day, a friend ask me to unlock the bootloader, and I have returned it.
If this really improve battery, I hope this can brought attention to developer on how to fix partial wakelock by Alarmmanager on stock kernel. If this thread is no good, feel free to delete it.
This CWM replace boot.img and /system/lib/modules/dhd.ko from CM7weekly.
I used CWM script from faux's, and replace those 2 files.
It is recommended to backup your rom before installing this.
Edit 05feb2012:
I'm sorry, I shouldn't have started a thread of a device I don't hold anymore. Today faux have released his new kernel, it might already solve the problem as and I couldn't test it. But for clearer view on why I started this thread, what I mean is that I saw BetterBatteryStats shows this. This is screenshot from other device as example.
On my defy, the percentage never goes above 1%. But on atrix, it could go above 20%, I even seen it on 90%+. Using CM7weekly29jan kernel, it always stay below 1%. And about the time AlarmManager is on, maybe I was wrong, it was not below 30s, maybe 1minute+, but before, it could go hours. Problem is I only tested for around 6hour. I just install the kernel, no wipe or clear cache. On that short test, I left the phone idle with screen off. I check on Battery Monitor Widget, it seems that each 1% of the battery can last slightly longer than before.
I hope this can make things clear.
Note: For quick test, you should see the partial wakelock 'since unplugged', not 'since charged', because reboot will reset the timer in 'since unplugged', but the 'since charged' will not reset unless you plugged the usb port for charging.
More info : device is Atrix International, last fullsbf is 2.3.4.45.0.20SEA.

Could somebody point me a commit that fixed this issue? What was the reason of this issue? Could this fix be applied to the stock kernel too?
Very interesting! Will test this weekend, sounds promising if it really does improve battery life on cm7 based roms, maybe talk to clemsyn or faux about it.

On other kernel, switch off screen for 10minutes. alarmmanager should wake for more than 1minutes. with this kernel, always below 30sec.
But whats important is the effect on battery life. A proper test would be night time battery usage, wether its the same as before, or gives better battery life.
I search for the commit too, but couldn't find it, I got no knowledge on building android from source.
Interesting.. anyone trying?
Sent from my CM7 Atrix
I will be trying this on Neutrino 2.2EE.

Installed with just cache and dalvik cache wipes.
So...is it just ripoff from weekly 29?
Or did you modified something?

I'm sorry, this indeed just a rip off from weekly29jan, if this is not appropriate, I will take the zip down.
I make the zip so its easier for people who want to test. From my short test, BetterBatteryStats show smaller wakelock by AlarmManager, but I haven't test it long enough to make sure how the effect on battery. If this indeed have impact on battery, I hope enough to get dev's attention to fix the wakelock on stock kernel.
bobo9900 gave proper credit to the dev-team and is just posting the file for easy access with his thoughts on possible improvements of battery life. There is no need to give him a hard time for that.

The word "ripoff" was probably what rankled a bit, as the word normally implies theft. Possibly a better phrase would have been "was this from the 29-Jan weekly?" or something like that. Less loaded phrasing that way.
After initial testing, I'm not seeing a reduction in alarm wake locks. Will give it a full cycle to test battery life

Any updates on this?
I'm running MeanROM 3.1 with Anthrax RLS 06 and am seeing substantial wake time from AlarmManager.
I've used Gscript to dump the AlarmManager log, but I'm not entirely sure which parts to scrutinize. I also don't know how to wipe this log and start fresh... I recently flashed this rom/kernel combo after running Chad's modified superwipe, yet this log seems to span 50+ days.
Hello everyone, yesterday i figured a big problem with the battery of my 3 Weeks note.
I'm so upset and its driving me crazy.
I screen captured this. Battery life became so short it hardly works for 10 hours maximum if i don't use it much. Thanks
might want to get rid of that any.do app or change the settings. .
No i don't think any do is the problem as i downloaded it about 2 Weeks ago, and the problem started just yesterday.
what settings do you think i should modify?
well maybe any do wasn't the problem 2 weeks ago.. but it is the problem now.. why ask if u aren't going to take advice?
do you have the original samsung batterie? or an cheap rebuilt one? I've made some bad experience with cheap chinese batteries...
Do you have the stock kernel? In some old versions of Abyss Kernel i had bad batterie lives...
Dear bambo i did take advice and deleted the app. I've formatted the device 30 minutes ago as well.
Still having the same problem.
Mr David its the phone's original battery made in Japan finished in China
I took a screen shot after the formatting. Its just getting worse.
Thanks for helping guys

Try badass battery monitor pro and see what may be keeping the phone awake, or waking it up often.
what graph?
I've had loads of batt drain problems, and found the batt stats app to be really misleading.
In nearly all cases a random app 'appeared' to be the culprit but further investigation yielded it as being some other app filling the system log (logcat). Try looking at something you installed more recently. Uninstall them one by one and check foe when the batt drain stops. That'll be your culprit I reckon.
The more complicated approach is to install something like catlog from Google Play and read through the system log and try to work it out that way. I used his approach to discover WidgetLocker was capping my juice even though AVG was being reported as the battery hog!

Go to market and install Better Battery Stats. It will give you all the wakelocks and the culprit apps and kernel that might be eating your battery and not allowing the device to go into deep sleep and conserve battery !
Thanks for helping guys, I formatted the phone yesterday.
I‘am afraid the battery has a hardware problem. I'll have to contact the store I think, thanks to ALLAH I have 1 year full warranty. But I've got 2 questions for you guys:
1- I charge the phone while sleeping, so it stays plugged about 4 hours after its fully charged. Does that shorten the battery ‘a life?
2- Does the Android get viruses? Cuz if its not a battery problem, it might be a virus though.

-1- No, dont worry about your batt if u plugged more.
-2- I dont know about virus, but what i know if u install crack apps its maybe a virus.
In all ROM ICS quickly gets the battery, and sometimes even 100% in 30 minutes dropped to 20%. Those who have any solutions to this problem?

This should should not be in this section. Also, you should use search and find answers.
The ICS releases on here are using a mixed kernel base which isn't pure ICS and thus can cause strange drain issues.
IF it starts to drain rapidly, reboot your phone and recharge. Also try calibrating your battery.
This is posted in the wrong forum, should be in the general section... in future read the rules
Edit: Beaten to it again
as its here i will reply for the um-teenth time. as a rule when flashing new rom ESPECIALLY if coming from GB to ICS it is HIGHLY recommended you wipe battery stats in advance setting within recovery. this is vital to getting accurate reading from your battery. also download battery calibration app from market and run it. i have no battery issue with iscream rom and battery always charges to 100% and discharges normally
hello
I'm sorry, but I just do not know English and writing through the google translator. Because of this, I do not know the general rules and posted it here. Sorry me. The fact that the calibration of the battery, I always do and it does not work, that's why I created this topic. Nothing helps to solve this problem, the battery is sometimes drops and does not work consistently. Seeking a solution to this problem. Thank you. Anyway, we have in our 4pda.ru all this problem and all the complaining about the battery and how to solve this problem we do not know. I ask on behalf of our forum to help solve this problem. Personally, I have only one consideration of this problem is due to the nucleus and that the need to wait for the official kernel. Am I right?

No problem mate. Even with proper sources battery needs calibrating. As a rule should do after every flash. Kernel sources will bring more stability to roms and correct drivers. We are all waiting for those

Hello friends...
My question is for venezuelan people (or someone who really knows about it) :fingers-crossed:
I wonder which is the best modem working in Venezuela for the i8190 international version. Which one provides a good signal and a low battery consumption?
I wait for your opinions! Thanks a lot for your time! :good:

Thank you very much @mauam for your fast answer. I just would like to know some venezuelan opinion, some experience hehe...
But you're right. I'll have to try it by myself. I don't want to excuse myself but the thing is that I almost always use the phone with wifi all day long for giving internet conection to my PC, so, it's kinda difficult to try it by myself
That's one good reason for my question
EDIT: @mauam how can I know/realize which one isn't draining too much my battery? Sometimes you can't see the difference but it has to be, right? Even a little... How can I see that?

Don't know, maybe with wakelock detector app. I never feel/realize that my BB drain my battery, anyway. Regarding the BB location, for what I know, even if I'm in the same country as you (& using the same BB), but in different place it can affect the performance of BB. So, again, you need to try by yourself & take your own conclusions about which is the best for you.

Data conection drains battery, sometimes more, sometimes less, but drains. I think it has to be with the modem in a way, so... Better modem, better conection, less drains??
In other hands, which kernel do you use? Which one works better for your mini? (sorry, i know i'm off topic but don't want to make a new thread with that question, take it like a personal question )

Hi everyone.
My name is Adam, it's my first post here, but I'm already long time with you guys.
At the beginning i would apologise for my probably bad English. But I'm already desperate to write her and ask for help.
I'm definitely not newbie. But not a "geek" of course, but doesn't scared me rooting, img flashing, adb and fastboot command's etc. I've played already with old good Xperia X10, later with HTC Desire HD long time ago. This is also my third Nexus. First was N4, then N5 and now shamu.
But...
My N6 is also quite close to "meet the wall or floor"...
So, the problem is, my Nexus randomly, suddenly turned off. Without any warning. There is no rules. Sometimes one, two times per day, other time I'm turn them on, and after a while phone go's off again. Mostly happened that when network signal strength go's lower, but not always. Sometimes it's happening with max signal strength. Just like i says, no rules. I have tried everything. Flashing stock image -the same situation. Custom ROMs -nothing changed... Cyanogen Mods 13,14, different kernels tons of radios and bootloader's -really doesn't matter. Still the same.
Around year ago battery was changed. Using now not original, but also not some "cheaper no name" battery, without any issues. Doesn't look like that are on some way connected, but probably should i mention that.
Attached Logcat log (splitted because of size restrictions), dmesg log and some SysFS dump log created with Kernel Adiutor app.
Maybe those can help and explain something.
Please help... I love my phone much... we have explored together hundreds or thousends of builds and mods, but so far I'm really close to say goodbye to my old good friend Nexus.
Greetings and thanks in advance

The logcat Has thousands of errors and many of the errors are rom related but there is also a few battery related
11-09 22:17:16.458 20299 20335 E BatteryStatsService: power: Missing API
This I bet is where it is causing an issue.
As for the battery I wouldnt trust anything but an official replacement. I know that might not be an option really but unless it is official replacement then I wouldnt use it.
Could be true, issue attempt first time after I've changed battery, but quite long time was perfect. No such of issue. Is there some way to prove if those error are guilty?
Thanks for your respond.

The only way to tell is run completely stock. And then go from there. Any errors that come up will have to be fixed one by one until you find the issue.
