Hello all,
I am currently using an astonishing Windows Phone 8 by HTC. So far, it's remarcable fine. I have one issue though and I would like to share it with you, guys.
I wanted to digitally sign the e-mail I am sending from my mobile device, but it seems that just installing the certificate is not enough. I had it saved in an e-mail as an attached file. I tried downloading the file and installing it.
I am able to send e-mail, I have checked the box that says "require SSL for send" and check the incomming as well.
Did I do something wrong ?
I would really appreciate your help.

Signing (or encrypting) mails in WP7/8 is currently or stil not possible. It´s not supported by the OS. Also if you receive a signed (S/MIME) mail you will not be able to open or to read the mail.
Hopefully MS will quick solve this issue....
Thank you for your reply! What a shame...

Is it possible to send my Business Card via SMS?
Well, my mate sent me a VCard from his K750i the other week, and my 2i received it as a plain old text message - but it shows the raw formatting.
This is what it looked like:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:2.1
N:Add;Big
TEL;CELL:07123456789
X-IRMC-LUID:000200000059
END:VCARD

Obviously I've replaced his mobile number with a made-up one, but the rest of the formatting is as I received it.
I guess the X-IRMC-LUID is some form of unique identifier, I'm assuming that it's tied to the handset model or something. I also guess that, THEORETICALLY, if you just copy and paste that text into a new text file (keeping the formatting), replace the example phone number with your own, if you sent that as a text message to someone with a phone supporting Business Cards, it would probably show it as a business card and give the recipient the usual options (add to address book, etc).
You might want to experiment further by asking (nicely) someone with a Nokia phone to send one of their numbers, maybe your own, to yourself as a Business Card - you could then just keep that text message and just forward it to others.
Ok, so it's not ideal, but it's a probably-workable bodge that I'd be quite happy with.
There are a number of programmes out there that will add this functionality...
Used to have one on my xda 3 or 4 hard-resets ago that worked fine but no ideas which it was !
Try googling "ppc sms vcard" or something like that...
Here's one I found fairly quickly... Not sure how good it is !

This is for WM 2003 only.
There is a software call Sunnysoft vCard compatible with WM2005
PLease i just realised that i was still getting charged for sending text messages, even though i have tha total intertnet plan from tmobile.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a program that would let me send text messages bypassing the cellular network, and using my internet,(be it wifi or edge or gprs) to carry the messages.
Kinda like when you use your computer to send texts to phones, is there a program for windows mobile?
thank you in advance
I believe there are a few websites out there to send messages with, tmobile used to have a public SMS application, however I am unsure of any method of "relaying" an SMS message through the included pocket outlook sms handler to one of those sites transparently.
thank you. I still will be awaiting answers.

one approach might be to use an email server to bounce the messages to sms email addresses.
say you use the email side of the messaging app, either through synching to exchange or through a pop, imap or whatever, and point the email at the sms address, I forget what the tmobile address is, but for example it would be like [email protected]
I guess that semi solves the problem without any programming, you would just need each carrier's email address, and specify a return address that would go to your phone for when they SMS back.

previous:H6315(hell in gadget form), Tmo original xda PPCPE.
CaptDistraction, you need to be creative about the 6315; I gave mine to my wife when I upgraded to to 8125. Got rid of the memory hogs and you can't imagine how our relationship has improved, we now talk about the same techy stuff; she complaing, I fixing by the way she no longer complains about how much time I spend with my phone, cause she's now doing the same. Now we have no time to talk to each other......

Haha, I tried every rom out there, I kept the device for a while and finally sold it to support the MDA purchase.
Man I messed with that 6315 to no end, had so much stuff going on with it trying different app combos, spent hours in the registry, no matter how simple I kept it, I couldn't ever get it to answer calls in a timely fashion.
My biggest love with the MDA is when you press that green answer button, it immediately picks up the call.
Hi @all
Yesterday I bought the TyTN II. I'm very pleased about it, but I have now some Questions.
-When I receive SMS, is it possible to see somewhere when it has been sent?
-When I get the delivery report of a sent SMS, I only see the number of the recipent and not the name which is stored in the phone. Furthermore would it be possible to determine, when the SMS has been delivered?
-In the Today-Screen is only one calendar entry shown at once unfortunately. Is there a possibility to show more than one entry within the HTC Home Screen?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Best regards

1. To view when it has been sent, just open the message and its at the top. By default, the message is slightly scrolled down but if you scroll up, you will see the To: and Sent Date.
2. The name on delivery reports is a known "issue" or annoyance. Previously, I did use a program that was written by someone here but for the life of me, cannot remember what it was called. This worked perfectly with the number being matched with contacts list.
3. Calendar, not sure at the moment... will find out if I can/have time
Heres the delivery thing, not tried it on the Kaiser yet but might do later on

Thank you very much for your replies. It's my fault I didn't scroll up in the SMS, now I see the sent-date Thank you for the hint
I could solve the problem regarding the calendar entries display on the today screen. I installed the very good tool Calender+
http://www.mohairsofa.com/Default.aspx/document/10
and now you can choose how many entries / how many days should be displayed.
Thank you for the link for the SMS Delivery Fix Tool. I downloaded and installed it, but seems that it doesn't function... I sent a E-Mail to the developer of the tool.

h3mp says it works! Did you install it differently? What error are you getting?
Hi @all
Thank you for your very helpful replies. In the meanwhile the SMS Delivery Fix thing is now fully functional. The only thing I miss is the display of the time when the SMS arrived.
The Calendar+ app works really fine.
Another strange problem occured in connection with the TomTom. After installing and downloading and installing the included map everything works fine. But then I connect the TyTN II to the PC and the TomTom Home application. The app was searching for updates for the installed TomTom Navigator. It brings up the message that a update is available, it was the "phone database - connect2internet" update. And now that's the strange and very annoying part: After installing the update, the phone doesn't play ANY kind of ringtone on an incoming call and the ringtones are very low.
Neither removing the TomTom app nor doing a soft reset solved the problem. After a masterreset everything was fine again. I installed then all apps needed again and did a backup with Sprite Backup. After this I installed the TomTom Navigator again with the update... same problem! No ringtones on incoming calls. I did then a restore and all was ok again.
Very strange right? Do have any informations/advices about that problem?
Thank you again very much in advance
Best regards

When you send an sms and recieve a delivery notification the message says
Message successfuly sent to +9715081233450 instead of message successfully sent to Ahmad AlDhaheri.
The above link fixes it so it says the name (in first last or vice versa), number and even extension (m for mobile, o for office and so on).
Oh I just saw your full post above, apparently you do know what it does. Well now anyone curious also knows.
Bump for a great peice of software.
Hi,
iam searching some tool to write sms/mails on my laptop and send them via my HTC S730 aka Wings.
Any tools for that ? i dont like that small keyboard...
I have not seen any for that purpose but again I have not really looked since I like the KB.
However a lot of Carriers websites will allow you to send text messages from any web based computer using your account after you log in....
should work if i dont have any internet connection or just a slow one. boot up pc, connect to the mobile via bluetooth/usb, write the message and send....
i thought there will be at least 100 replies for such an easy stuff....cant believe that everybody likes taht keyboard...
This is a german software, but I think that's no problem because you just have to click on "Senden" when you want to send the text message.

This integrates with outlook either.
thx !!! both software works greate! exactly what iam was searching for!
Does anyone know a solution to this? I get my voicemail emailed to me in .wav files which I could previously listen to on my phone running Wp7. Now running Wp8 on my Lumia 920 whenever I download and open one it says "Sorry, we can't play this file on your phone".
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix/workaround?
Any help at all is appreciated.

I have the same issue. I'm searching for a link to submit a bug report to MS for this.
.WAV Compatibility Issues on WP8
Got the same problem but on the Nokia Lumia 820. I thought it may have been something wrong with the new phone so I forwarded the voicemail to my wife's phone, also a Lumia 820, and I received the exact same error. Similar to other folk's threads on MS' WP8 support sight, I too never experienced any issues with accessing .wav files on my much older Windows Phone 7 device (with the 7.5 update installed).
The issue in particular is that the .wav files represent voicemails that are recieved as attachements on emails. My particular problem is with two seperate voice systems, Siemens OpenScape Voice and Vonage VoIP. Niether offer any alternative voicemail formats. Other folks are also having the issues with voice platforms from Mitel, Cisco, Avaya, etc accross all WP8 devices.
The forum is over at: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp8-wpmusic/i-get-my-voicemails-emailed-to-me-in-a-wav-file/603a0d71-01c0-432b-815b-1f1737ad2ff6
and the MVP Community Moderator has promised to escalte the issue. I've also submitted a trouble ticket directly to MS.
I hope there's a fix.... since accessing these files is extraordinarily important when I’m on the road travelling.
Ditto on ".wav attachments
Same problem when i try to open attachment from my email message. If i copy the attachment from my PC and transfer (Copy / Paste) to my Lumia 920, a temp message pops up saying the file is being converted. Then when i open that converted file on my lumia it plays properly. Probably will be awhile before this is fixed.
Yeah this is pretty frustrating. Nothing like having a feature taken away without you realizing. Can you share the link for posting a trouble ticket to MS so that we can all chime in?
Same issue here with voicemessages from a siemens hipath, no more playback
Interesting, I don't have this problem. I get my voicemails at work sent to me in an email as wav attachments. It's an exchange account and I have no problems playing it back on L920. Good luck you guys.

Dear Santa, I want a windows 8 phone that can play wave files. My windows 7 phone did. Maybe you can have a chat with the big man at Microsoft this year.
Thanks
Ok, for me, the problem is solved, changed the wav header in the hipath

What do you mean?
It's the codec used in some voicemail systems that's the case problem. MS is acutely aware of this, I'd expect an update to fix at some point...

Still no fix for this? My office just upgraded and switched to ShoreTel system last week, one of the main reasons was to be able to receive voice mails remotely on our mobile devices. And I was on the phone committee! Implemented on Friday, and now I learn that I can't listen to the voice mail messages emailed to me as .wav file? You have to be kidding, but no joke.
I've relentlessly advocated WP to my partners, and worked to upgrade our phone system. Now the 3 of us who are using WP8 (the HTC 8X) are the only ones who can't get their voice mails. Very frustrating.
