I installed/flashed the latest HD7 Deepshining ROM.
In the ROM website description it says that it is“Full Unlocked”. Does this mean unlocked for side loading apps or does it also mean that after installing this ROM on a T-Mobile HD7 that it will be "carrier" unlocked as well?
I’ve installed the ROM many times over and the at&t SIM card I have will always request an unlock code. The T-Mobile SIM card works fine.
I have requested an unlock code from T-Mobile and am awaiting an email from them. After I put this unlock code in, will it carrier re-lock the device if I reflash the OS again afterwards? And in that case would I have to request a new code from T-Mobile or would the same code work again to unlock it.
Sorry for all the NOOB questions here.
SIM unlock
is permanent, once done the restriction on the phone radio is removed.
so you can try wathever rom you want...
BTW this question has already been answered too, by me.

Maybe you should read the WIKI to start. But I used KaiserUnlocker to unlock my sim card, but that is what I did. You do what you want, but I would first suggest again that you READ THE WIKI.

just like kdkobes said please read the wiki. The question you ask has been answered many times, trust me i asked it. but the info is there.
and secondly, if you got the phone "legally" and are an att customer all you had to do is dial "611" from your phone get in touch with att and they will give you the sim unlock code for your device ... ; just tell them you are going oversees (use a country like pakistan were att doesn't provide service) and need the unlock code .. i did it and they gave me the code in 5 minutes. Or you can use pof's hardspl which will unlock your cid and sim install olipro's spl (enabling u to flash new roms to your phone).
But going back to statment one, please read the wiki
cheers,
sire
Calling AT&T vs. HARDSPL
If you get AT&T to give you a SIM Unlock code, do you still need to run HARDSLPL to install a cooked ROM?

Yes. There you got your free answer without needing to search. Everyone gets one.
SIM Unlocking just allows you to put any GSM carriers SIM card in your phone and it will work. HardSPL changes the boot loader so you can update the Roms.
Even after doing the Hard SPL the device is asking for unlock code if I insert a foreigh sim card.
I tried doing the USPL also. Same results.
After Hard SPL I also tried to install Touch_IT_wm6.1_Full_-Herald_P4350.zip ROM. It installed well but show same SIM locked error.
Please let me know the steps to start fresh and unlock the phone for international usage. I also wanted to load custom rOM but as SIM not supporting so not able to proceed further.
Apreciate any help in this regard.
Device: T Mob Wing (HERA110)
HardSPL is a cid unlock which does not sim unlock the phone. Seeing as how you have a tmobile wing, you should call tmobile and ask them for the unlock code. Just tell them you're going out of country
I recently ordered an unlock code from TMobile UK and have successfully unlocked my phone. The question is whether it remains unlocked forever or will it lock again when I update to a new ROM (official or cooked).
Thanks in advance
or by hard restart
does it remain unlocked after a hard reset?
as far as I know when you ordered a unlock code from T-Mobile then it is a sim unlock number to allow you to use other providers in the phone the CID lock is is still there .Still after a hard reset your unlock from T-moblie you should still be able to use other sim cards from other providers
So basically keep my code safe???
Is that what you are saying? That I will need to unlock again when I update with a new ROM?
If so, I'd better keep a note of the Unlock code!
Thanks to everyone who responded.
Hey guys,
Was wondering if anyone can help. I flashed my ROM to the latest HTC Sence a couple of days ago hoping it would unlock the network on my phone. I was locked to Three and now have an Optus sim, and after flashing my ROM it won't even read a Three sim.
Is there a way I can unlock my HTC Magic so I can use another network provider?
Thanks heaps,
Sezza
You can call your current provider and ask for an unlock code or you can purchase one. Unlockr.com can get them for you. I think its $20
can anyone answer to this question
if i install new rom to my phone does it unlock network
no, you would just be changing the os, flashing roms wont change if your phone is locked to a specific carrier or not.
you can get unlock code on ebay ~$3
I'm from the US and am in New Zealand for a month. I own an HTC One which I purchased from AT&T and have been using on their network in the States. I've unlocked the phone, and also have S-Off. I've purchased a prepaid SIM card from Vodaphone in New Zealand. When I insert the SIM card, the phone asks me for the 8 digit SIM unlock code, so I entered the 8 digit PUK code provided by Vodaphone with the SIM. The phone tells me this code is invalid. I'm not quite sure why this isn't working - is it possible I need to load a different firmware to use the phone in New Zealand?
Kernel is 3.4.10-g31f7883
Firmware looks like 3.62.401.1
I'm currently using ViperOne ROM.
Certainly appreciate any input on this issue.
Thanks,
Josh
Well, I did not realize that bootloader unlock and SIM unlock are two different things. That's a bit confusing. Wish I had figured that out prior to flying here.

If I remember correctly (this is all from memory), for the unlock code to work, you need
1) correct (original) CID and MID
2) stock ROM (some were able to do it on custom ROMs, but not sure if all work or only certain ones)
3) stock firmware for above ROM
4) stock recovery
5) LOCKED or RELOCKED bootloader
6) S-Off won't matter, and that will be your ticket to unlock again
you can search the forum here for SIM UNLOCK, there are quite a few similar cases, which got solved by a combination of points 1 through 5.
If anyone stumbles onto this thread in the future...
Turns out I needed a code from AT&T, as I needed to carrier unlock the phone before being able to use the Vodaphone SIM. I tried contacting AT&T to get the code, but they won't give it to you unless you are out of contract.
I was able to get an unlock code using option 5 in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2242473
I loaded a stock ROM, but left the bootloader and my custom recovery on there, and the unlock code worked just fine.
