I've had my Kaiser for 2 days now with no probs. Then today, a nightmare. I cannot make any calls longer than 10 secs. For some reason as soon as i make a call it shows the 3g logo then kicks the call, loses the network connection then gets it back. it also shows the E for edge Icon all the time and its this icon that changes to 3g during a call. It also has the triangle icon all the time, which is roaming. i sure as hell hope im not! all other functions in this device work like a charm-texting, gps, wifi- all work great. Im on fido in Vancouver. This is not a supported handset and so i get no help from them( i dont think the 20 year olds that man the tech lines have a clue anyway). I read that it may be due to an old sim card, is this likely? Any help would be appreciated, im at my wits end, and im starting to think of selling. Help!
P.S.
I dont care about data connection other than Wifi, since the data plans are a joke here. So i dont even want these features active.
Try to switch your phone to GSM only (under phone options/band)
Dag Gammit i think this may have done it! -crossing fingers and testing- will play around with this some more and see what happens. thanks for the suggestion.
Yes indeed ID64, has it right. It's not just this phone that tries to seek the strongest band around, but drops the call in the process.
Changing using settings to GSM only works, but you may be in situations where you want the other bands. You can use the same method to switch back, But you might want a nicer/quicker way using Danielherrero's Bandswitch or Commmgrpro application. He's a member here and you can search here or google. The early freeware version is around somewhere.

Fido and the roaming triangle
I wouldn't worry about the roaming thing, since all of the towers report as rogers since the network conversion.
Here in Winnipeg I'm always roaming and it has never been an issue. I'm even calling long distance (Calgary?) for voice mail.
I haven't tried it since have the all you can eat data plan for $50. but I vaguely recall seeing in the wizard forum that apparently you can get a cheap data plan through fido if you claim your phone is a HipTop. Worth a try if you want data.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1135200&postcount=6
hiptop
Umm, just out of curiosity, does the HipTop thing still work? and what is it exactly?
I am about to get a plan and this one sounds intriging..
I'm on Fido with a Tilt too, works flawlessly with my 8 year old sim card. I'm very interested in this Hip-Top data plan. Has anybody tried it yet? someone definatly should and let us know!
any way to get rid of the roaming notifications so we can enable automatic email downloading? feature will not work while roaming and my FIDO phone is always roaming on my home network. can't find a registry hack for the Kaiser for this.
Fido roaming and e-mail
I haven't found a way to turn off the roaming notification. However you can set up e-mail accounts to automatically download even when roaming. Obviously if you do really roam you will be charged mightily so I would use with caution.
for hotmail (windows live) it's option 5 in the options menu item
for other accounts
-Send/Receive Schedule
-- Advanced Settings
--- Use automatic send/receive schedule when roaming
send/recieve schedule when roaming

My rom will not let me enable the automatic send/recieve when roaming without FIRST defining a send/recieve schedule. The schedule is inconveniant becuase i don't want the phone to stay on 3G connected 24hrs/day or my battery goes dead. I have it set to disconect 3G after 45 seconds but this only works if the phone is ON. When the phone is in sleep state it will leave the 3G on all the time so it opens up a whole other can of worms/problems. Does your rom let you enable this send/recieve while roaming option without first enabling a schedule? if so, which rom you using?
I have a quite rare problem. I'm in Ireland and use 3 operator. It does not have coverage on many places and it has some kind of contract with o2, so whenever the signal it lost, phone automatically switches to o2. Problem is when I'm back in place with full 3 coverage again, WP does not switch back. I have to select network manually several times a day. It's very annoying. Is there an option somewhere in settings to disable roaming completely? I found it only for data but I need it for calls. Phone is Lumia 920.
Thanks

I imagine specifying your network provider as "3 IRELAND" or whatever it's called will stop it from connecting to O2? The setting is under Mobile Network (under the roaming options, at the bottom) and is set to "automatic" by default.

First thing I tried, but it did not help. Maybe problem is that the other network has same name - probably to ensure seamless switch. (it's actually Vodafone, sorry for my mistake: http://www.vodafone.ie/aboutus/media/press/show/BAU002953.shtml )

I'm not saying I'll be able to help, but could you elaborate a little on why roaming comes into this? Are you changing countries between two places where the operator is called "Vodafone"?
Don't forget to help on my Bing Vision query

No I don't. It's actually a funny thing. I live in Dublin and yet you can find here many places without signal coverage. I think, but not exactly sure that 3 is the last operator who entered on a market here, so it does not have proper infrastructure and negotiated with Vodafone national roaming for places where native 3 signal is not available. In general it's not a big problem, you can make calls like in your home network, price is same, you can even see on your phone you are connected to 3 network but with a roaming. (because in fact you are connected to Vodafone)
I'm trying to disable roaming completely because mobile data on the roaming are just GPRS while in native 3, you got 3G.
It would not mind me if phone would automatically switch back on 3 when available. (when I had WP 7 it was doing like this) But now with WP8 the behavior seems to be changed and as soon as it enters the roaming it never reverts back to native network unless I manually select the 3network again.
Hi all,
I have bought a Htc One M7 handset recently and I have noticed time to time there are No Signals (Limited Service) on it. When I switch off/ switch on or if I turn on the Airplane mode and turn off again, the signals will restore. This is happening around 2 times per day and really annoying. Need to know whether this is a known issue for the model.. I still didn't change the SIM and check. Please help!!!!!
Thanks alot!

I have the same thing
To add some detail for diagnostics see below:
- I travel into London every day and sometimes when signal drops in the tunnels it will never pick back up again after leaving them whereas my old One X did not have this on the same journeys.
- It even dropped out mid call and came up with the sim card icon at the notification bar as if no card inserted (but no selectable notification) first time its happened to this extent.
- Do you have a 4G SIM/connection or are you on 3G like myself? I'm thinking perhaps its something to do with trying to pick up 4G instead and completely disregarding the 3G connection that is available.
- I have also noticed that ever since getting the handset its never had as good signal as my One X which was pretty much always full signal in my normal areas (home, work etc) This may just be the way the handset gauges the signal not the signal itself but something to note anyway.
I'm having the same issue here in the US. It's prolly my only complaint with my phone.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I'm also having this issue but more sever with an all-day no signal. After reboot, I gain signal and I can't make and receive calls.
Try to turn 4G off.

How does one do that? Having the same problem, both wifi AND mobile network drop off. Wifi comes back on its own after a few seconds, the mobile data connection often comes back (obviously if not on wifi away from home), but the mobile network stays as no signal and doesn't come back, unless I reboot or cycle aeroplane mode. I know there's some problems with touching antenna, but this is happening a lot in the car, when the phone is powered and sitting in a cradle.

To turn off 4G you go to Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode and then select "3G / 2G"
don't know if it'll help though, but trying is worthwhile

Thanks. The problems seems to have gone with that change. Perhaps it is some system thing kicking me off the network because I don't have 4G on my contract and my phone was trying to get it.
Now, if you can just tell me why my lovely 3-4 bar indoors signal on EE has dropped to 0-1 outdoors (as they deny there is a problem)

Are you sure it's not just cosmetic? Try going into Settings->About->Network and see if the signal (dBm) is dropping.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I have it constantly on att - I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to get my network back, I have tried different roms and updates and still the issue is across all roms.
Maybe try this: in your dialer type *#*#4636#*#*. Once the menu is opened, select Phone information, then scroll down to Set preffered network type and choose one of the options (im from Serbia, europe, and I usualy go with GSM auto (PRL)).
Issue with 3g only
Whenever I keep it on 3G, it drops signals for 2 to 7 seconds at random intervals. People often complain that when they call, they get a message that my phone is switched off.. I am probably gonna try another ROM and SIM to see if that helps before dumping this phone forever.
how to solve limited service or loosing service on htc one m7
Hello
it seems to be a hardware fault where the radio is not staying on higher band
it seems to be having issues on 2100 and all umts and hspda or lte networks
however switching back to 2 g can resolve this issue and phone ( hope so) will never lose signals or drop then again
i tried this and for me this works fine so far over 12 hours now no issue
give it a try and see this should work
setting>data>network>2g only
by this you wont have option to use fast internet though but at least you can phone can be used for voice calls messaging etc and also wifi too
I was on stock lolli pop and tried to flash cm12.1 but does not help sort the limited service issue
enjoy and leave your feedback
Edit:
some people cant find 2g in settins>mobile network>preferred network type> lte or 3g only, the solution is go to *#*#4636#*#* phone info>set preferred network type>gsm only( this will put your device into 2g mode)
hope this work
I cannot get my T-Mobile One to stop roaming onto AT&T towers. As a result, the measly 50mb/month I'm alotted goes very quickly. The roaming toggle in mobile data settings literally has no effect at all. AT&T towers are correctly identified in pulldown shade, but data is active regardless of roaming toggle position and T-Mobile is dinging me for it.
History:
HTC One purchased from T-Mobile 4.1.2 with Root - Issue described above was present.
Same handset; EU 4.2.2 Stock rooted ROM - AT&T Towers showed up as T-Mobile in pulldown shade, but data not available regardless of Roaming Toggle position.
Same handset; DEV edition rooted 4.3 ROM and firmware - Original issue is back. AT&T towers are correctly identified in pulldown shade, but data is active regardless of roaming toggle position.
Anyone ever seen this?
The Roaming toggle is for use when you are overseas and then the phone can't see any of your service providers towers
It then can log on to a foreign tower and charge you a large amount of cash for each and every MB
You need to switch of Mobile Date to stop it using 3/4G data
Unless you have failed to state your issue clearly of course
Turning data roaming on or off
Connect to your mobile operator’s partner networks and access data services when
you’re out of your mobile operator’s coverage area.
Using data services while roaming may be costly. Check with your mobile operator
for data roaming rates before you use data roaming.
1. With two fingers, swipe down from the status bar to open Quick settings.
2. If Mobile data is off, tap the Mobile data tile to turn it on.
3. Tap . The Mobile network settings screen opens.
4. Select or clear the Data roaming option.
Select the Data roaming sound option if you’d like HTC One to play a sound so you’ll
know when it’s connecting to a roaming network.

Thanks. I could go on and on about the way the toggle performs on every other handset I've owned, the t-mobile HTC One of a local guy I talked to yesterday, blah blah blah.... As indicated by the HTC doc you referenced yourself, it has everything to do with "partner networks" and nothing to do with their geographic location. Oh, and I want to tear out my own eyeballs when I see "Unless you have failed to state your issue clearly of course" in response to a meticulously crafted post. Then again... it's been a few days since the OP so maybe I'm just butt hurt that no one cares about me :crying:
It occurred to me that I got a new SIM card at the same time I got my One, so I strolled into the local t-mobile store yesterday and had the card replaced. It's a long shot, but I will be in a roaming situation again in a couple days and will update this thread at that time.
New SIM card = no difference.
Swapped SIM with wife's phone. My SIM in her nexus 4 behaved correctly, her's in my One = same problem I had with my SIM.
So, my issue is isolated to the handset.
I don't know why, but I've always thought APN settings were stored on the SIM. I noticed the APN selection on our 2 devices (One LTE capable and one not) didn't change when I swapped the SIMs so I double checked the APN settings on my One. Looks normal to me - LTE works and everything else - but I did some digging and found slightly different settings that owners of unlocked AT&T LTE handsets are successfully using on TMO, so I've applied them and will maybe get lucky when I go roaming tonight.

So what if I'm the only one here?
Anyway, different APN settings changed things BUT not the behavior of the data roaming toggle. RUU'd the phone to TMO 4.1.2 factory new, then upgraded to TMO 4.3 - Same problem.
I finally made the dreaded call to TMO and the tech was actually really good. Much easier to get him to understand the issue than I thought it would be, even though (like everyone else on the planet) he has never seen it.
This issue combined with the better-known low light camera hue problem means I'll receive a replacement handset tomorrow. Will report back here if roaming issue persists with new hardware - if only to vent to myself!
Wondering if anyone can help me out. I've already spent hours on the phone with tmobile and they can't seem to solve it.
I've had this problem ongoing since getting this phone. Basically I get no data roaming. Places Ive tried: Canada (several cities in BC as well as Quebec and Ontario), UAE, Bahamas. I spend a lot of time in Canada so its a real issue. Things I have tried:
- Factory reset
- Upgrade to 5.1.1 using Odin.
- Try sim card in friend's phone (4G works no problem in Canada)
- A bunch of other stuff I don't remember
Symptoms:
- About 50% of the time the phone works for calls and text
- The rest of the time it says "emergancy calls only". Restarting the phone immediately restores ability to make calls/send text. This happens regardless of signal strength.
- Data connection never works. Only time I got 4G was the very first time I entered canada with this phone. . Restarting the phone would make it connect to 4G for about 1-2 minutes before it would lose data connection. Restarting the phone would bring it back. After about half a day the phone completely lost ability to make data connection and has never been able to get data connection internationally since then.
- Sometimes I get this message: "you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off". Data roaming is definitely turned on. I've enabled in settings and also via #RON# short code.

This sounds like a config issue to me. the random drops to emergency seems to be issues with roaming not being set up right. It sounds like your APNs are not setup correctly or something. have you gotten any info from t-mobile on Roaming APNs? i'm not sure if it needs to be adjusted for roaming or not.

Yeh thats what it seemed like to me as well but I went over the APN settings with them on several occasions. I also looked them up online. Everything seems correct. The only thing they had me change was APN roaming protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* (on stock dialer), in Device Information try to change network settings to LTE/WCDMA.
What are your APN settings? Provide info about all fields.
Did u ever solve this issue ? I'm having the same problem...
