If you spend a little time looking through different sections on here you can find what you are looking for.
But try looking at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
But remember to read thoroughly before trying anything. Some of us learnt that the hard way.
Thanks I will look into this.

Are you kidding? He said all the answers are here and suggested searching, he provided a link, and he suggested reading thoroughly so as to not screw up the device. That's a proper answer if I've ever seen one. If you expect to come here and have your hand held through every little process that's been 101% documented already, that's not OK (not saying you were, 75lick)
XDA doesn't disagree - http://www.xda-developers.com/android/can-i-google-that-for-you-2/
Perfectly good answer, no condescension. Common sense and some research goes a long way. By the time I found XDA I was already boot loader unlocked, rooted, and S-OFF. With plenty of bumps along the way. So good luck to you!

Hawkysoft, if you don't like nob questions why don't you just ignore them and leave it to the moderators.
You just scare new user away when you run around playing police.
Do you have a count of how many times you been posting stupid remarks to questions you don't like?

You need to have your phone S-OFF to get ROOT. Cyangenmod is not ready for IncS yet, but they are working on it.
2.3 Gingerbread is ready via OTA.
The only way to get S-OFF is to get access to a XTC-Clips because there is no software solution yet.
You can read more about ROOT here.
When I asked why I meant you don't have to be like that just close your eyes take a breath and leave it to moderators.
Take it easy buddy!

I can understand if you posted this in the developer forum, but he posted in general. Yes he could've searched, but I don't understand why people think it is a terrible crime to post a thread like this. How does this lower your quality of life in any way.
Here's a guide about the PROPER thing to do when you see a post like this.
Step 1: Move your eyeballs 5 millimeters in a downwards direction to the next post.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit.
Hawkysoft, this is a general forum for help, get off peoples backs, your comments are far more annoying than any noob questions, regardless of how many times they may have been asked before, take a break man.

Everyones a noob at one time.I help anyone i can no matter what or how little info is in there question.Telling someone to edit there post is in noway helping them.
Woody, it was a suggestion based on the fact that tensions are high here. We have lost at least 2 devs recently, with the last precisely because of too many noob questions/complaints. It is a developer's forum so it is a reasonable expectation that posters are knowledgeable. I'm not criticizing him, just pushing him to go read a little. A quick glance at the stickies would lead him to more than one thread that would answer his question. Users should at least exhaust the basics before asking for help.
Anyhow, your sentiment is good; It is great of you to offer help. If he edited his post or posted a followup with more info, I too would have offered help. But if we want XDA to survive, and in particular, the Vivid section, we have to maintain some minimum expectations.

Depends entirely on what your experience is. There's a big difference between learning to cook having never cooked a thing in your life, and learning to cook French cuisine if you're already a master sushi chef.
I'll play it safe and say I've never cooked a thing in my life, but my dad is also a system engineer and could help if I needed it. I'd rather learn without his help.

Start with an RUU. Run the RUU on your PC. Stop at the first screen after it's done loading, don't proceed, but don't close the window. Start/Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter (this will take you to your user temp folder). Sort the folders by date and open the newest. Here you should find Rom.zip. Use this as your base ROM in the kitchen. Root it, deodex it (or not), zipalign it, etc - and you end up with a flashable ROM from an RUU

If anything improves then I'll keep them, if things improve and break other stuff I'll go back, and then manually change the files I think need to be changed

I'm sure Viper and his team will dissect this update in short time. I am new to custom ROM's and really loving ViperROM and don't want to do anything to mess with success!
I have it downloaded, however whenever I go to install it reboots, goes straight to recovery, and never actually installs the update. Any ideas?
Does anyone know if this includes the camera fix? I thought the camera fix was on the .12 update and this is .10. I am assuming no.
