90 degree micro USB - Nexus 7 Accessories

Does anyone know of a source for 90 degree micro USB adapters other than eBay? I am looking for a male to female 90 degree adapter to use on my car install, but can only find ones located in China. I don't mind ordering from there if I have to, just hoping to find a closer (to the USA) option than China.
Thanks.

Every OTC adaptor in the market comes from China, for 3 bucks you get one on 2-3 weeks.
I got mine a week ago from DX.com and works OK. Orders over 15 dollars are trackable.
That's it

eBay is your best bet. Just make sure you know if you need a left or right 90 degree angle. In my case I needed the micro USB to go up, when the tablet was in portrait mode, so I've ordered this one. I got it in less than 3 weeks
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/350701919755...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2989wt_1139

It'd be cool if somebody could make a case that is longer than n7 and had a way to secure the cable attached to flash drive. The case could have a permanent micro USB hookup that you plugged the n7 into and then a y cable setup so you could charge while still having USB drive connected.

Broke my NC USB Cable

Well most of you already know that NC's USB cable's tip is delicate & today I broke it
I Googled & found that those Non B&N cables take a lot of time compared to original ones. Is it true ? Or Cheap cables also work ?
Some Black Berry phone cables are also similar [USB Hot sync] can I use them ?
Problem is I am from India & importing original cable costs a bomb :-/
they still giving free cable replacement or stopped ? I know they never ship it to India
Cheap cables do not have the necessary extra pins. A cable at B&N is $15. I understand the shipping may be costly but other cables will barely work if at all.
I had great luck repairing mine with super glue. The outer shell had started to crack but did not completely shatter. Super glue bonded the connector shell back together and is holding the plug in place. Your mileage may vary.
B&N definitely need to redesign the connector though.

I'm from the Philippines, and Barnes&Noble had replaced my NC's USB cable free of charge TWICE now. The original USB cable broke after two weeks of using it. I called them through Skype, which didn't cost me anything. All you need to tell them is that your USB cable broke and you want a replacement. All NC's USB cables are covered by a 1 year warranty. Everyone knows how crappy the NCs USB cables are--even b&n admits it. Once you get them on the phone, all they would ask you is to provide the email you used to register your nook, the shipping address you put in your b&n account, and sometimes they ask you about the last four digits of your credit card if you put it in your b&n account as well. Lastly, of course, the serial no. of your NC which you can find in the NC's box or by logging in your b&n account. Your main problem is that b&n doesnt ship warranty items outside continental US. In my case, I had a friend in the US whom I made as the recipient of the USB cable, and had her ship it in the Philippines.

Guys thank you for replying I will try free cable from nook color, will ask my friends....
What is amp rating of Nook cable ? What if I use my iPhone 4's charger with Nokia's mini USB cable ? Will that do ? or any harm ?
I am using the stock charger with Nokia's cable & I think it will take 10-15 hours for a full charge :-/
I also found a black berry mobile's cable whose rating is 0.5A.
Thank you !
Nothing will work, i am also from India. I tried everything, even root level kernel modifications to allow high current charging. In the end had to get a new one, someone here on xda was kind enough to ship it for me though. Seriously xda rocks...!!
What were they thinking when they designed the cable??

Nook's AC adapter pumps out 1.9amps, most USB cables and adapters pump out around 1amp(at least most around my house). I can't say for sure how much the cable is rated for but considering the Nook's adapter pumps out 1.9amps I'd say it's about the same. If you don't have the Nook's AC adapter you'll have to use you're computer's USB port.

The Nook's cable is pretty much proprietary when it comes to charging(notice it isn't your average micro usb plug on the end). Normal micro usb cables work fine for data transfers and trickle charging(ie: takes forever to charge and will actually continue to loose charge if you use the Nook while charging) In the end I'd look into a way to get the official cable. If you aren't in the US you might try looking elsewhere online or ask someone here on XDA if they'd be kind enough to forward the package.

Charger cable with short plug

Does anyone know of a charger USB cable with a really short / stubby micro USB plug piece? I have my Nexus installed in the car, and due to the size of the plug that goes into the Nexus, it gets pushed to an angle by the dashboard, which causes things like my USB flash drive to unmount suddenly, USB-DAC to lose signal etc. I have tried both with the charger plugged directly into the Nexus, and using a 90 degree adapter, both are just slightly too tight and I am afraid with the pressure on them may cause damage to the connector on the Nexus itself.
I am hoping to find a USB cable with a stubbier plug, or possibly even an OTG cable with a 90 degree connector on the end of it. Either one of these should give me an extra couple mm in order to not run into this problem.
Thanks.
Have you tried something like this?

Thanks for the link, I have not tried one of those (yet). I did find this link searching around yesterday and ended up ordering the down angled cable. It's not cheap for a 5" USB cable, but should work and give me a little extra slack for plugging/unplugging the Nexus.

OEM adapter + OEM cable needed

Hy! I am new to this forum. I just bought a nexus 7 about a month ago and i lost my charging adapter+cable. i've tried different aftermarket adapter with 2A, even an apple ipad adapter from my friend which has 2,4A, but the charging time is enormous-> up to 10 hours. The oem adapter+cable was charging my nexus 7 in about 3 hours. i looked everywhere on the internet to buy an orginal one but i did not find. Does anyone have an oem adapter+oem cable for sell ? I need an European adapter.

I know this doesn't help too much but I just saw one in Walmart here in the US. I would think that if there is a store that sells the N7 it might just have the AC adapter to sell.
Thanks but i need an european adapter. I could use an usa one but i think i need a transformer to convert the power.

OEM adaptor works both under 110 volts (USA) and 220 volts (EU)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Asus shop has EU adapter and cable: 100-240V, 0.3A to 5.0V/2A,10W and cable 0.9 meters long for 99 PLN ( ~ 24 €) + shipping costs.
You must have valid credit card to make order. I don't know from which country are you, and if there is an asus shop for your country.
I need a *durable* Nexus 7 charger cable that will not break!
I bought two of the 26 awg monoprice 6' cables recommended on this forum, they def carry over 500 mAh for fast charging and were cheap direct as opposed to amazon, like $1.50 each vs $6 on amazon.
But after a couple weeks, they only charge when the cable is bent the right way near the micro USB port. Same thing with the Asus cable that came with the Nexus 7.
What gives, is it something wrong with the Nexus 7 micro USB port, and not with the cables?

Smart Dock Alternative???

smart dock knockoff.....may be worth a shot because the samsung one is too dang expensive....this one also looks like it will accept cases unlike the stock one....i may have to give it a shot after payday http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMART-MULTI...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item5657f3c0a2
Since in US it will still going to cost more than $50, I will wait for some reviews before getting one. Good find for sure
the official dock does accept some cases.
I've had it working with the official flip cover, and with the official protective cover +.
I had seen this exact dock from a different seller on ebay a couple of days ago. I was about to buy it, but then I noticed that it said in the fine print that the mhl and otg connections can't be used at the same time. I'll see if I can find the link again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that the oem dock can do both simultaneously?

The note at the bottom says only one function (mhl or otg) at a time.

Very good in hdmi e 80 inch projector ... :good:
I got one from Amazon for 2t bucks. Compared it to a real one . It's got all most the same circuitry.
The chips that process the otg and charge curent signal are a lot different. But mine works it will charge while I runmy powered usb hub with my external harddrive. In the one I have you only get one otg option at a time. Like you can do one sd card or one usb thing or the hdmi out but not all at the same time so your going to need a usb hub thats got it's own power supply.
And like all Chinese knock offs you never know witch of there military owned slave labour operated plants actually built it . so there's a good chance you wind up with a better one.or one that isn't as good. Or maybe even one that doesn't work at all. They're all in the same case so its hit or miss.
My cheap knock off doc failed as off last night its no longer recognized as a doc. It shows up only the hdmi and charger.you can always charge and use hdmi out. But otg mod reverse the usb port so you can't charge.
Someone know a gadget that allows both usages? HDMI + USB at same time?

Newegg is carrying these now under the brand name "Baaqii".
It's $34 ($28 when on sale) but it also states, way down at the bottom, cannot do both OTG functions at same time.

I'm thinking That to get otg charging theres got to be a switch in the software someplace that lets you turn offotg mod and turn in back on really fast. Like pules on off on off on off constantly in the kernel. But I'm also thinking that there might not be a switch like that in our phones.
I'm thinking that the chips in a smart doc probably do that. So that leaves us not much choice. We either got to buy a doc. Find that switch or
Get a wireless charger.
I found a port of the famous faux kernel. I tried it with the 5 dollar add on app. It had no effect on otg charging a note 2.
I'm thinking the best cheap solution is one of the inductive charger sets. Or possibly putting a 555 timing circuit into a usd cable.
But a $35 1 amp wireless universal charge plat and coil would probably be the easiest way to go.

Best USB Replacement USB Cable for N7100

My original usb cable has lost its performance to charge my galaxy note.
Its current just 400mA (galaxy note normally need around 1800) . So it'll takes more time to charge.
As my experience with samsung device.
Samsung usb cable is easly lost its performance to charge.
I've tried :
blackberry gemini usb cable (400mA)
Galaxy tab usb cable (1100-1600mA)
So I'm planing to replace my usb cable with sony xperia z usb cable. (I don't know the current yet)
Anyone ever tried this usb cable?
Or do you have alternative suggestion?

Is this a serious question?
Of course, i am.
Is there something wrong?
I was getting about 500ma with my original usb cable. It was chaging very slow (about 6-8 hours to 5-100%). Used to be 2 hours to full charge when i got the smartphone.
I had a spare original motorola usb cable in my house and tested it.
It immediately give me 1800ma.
Too bad motorolla dealer is not avaiable on my city.
But thanks for your suggestion.

Yea the stock cable sucks to the max. I am using Galaxy S3 mini thick USB cable with 5 pin. The original one only have 4 pin, it's slow and produce high pitch noise while charging.
I'm using the newer monoprice 1 and it's awesome the older models would come loose after a few uses and this one I've used it over three months and no problems whatsoever and charges at 1800 ma

Not strange if you read the reviews. They are not getting what they ordered. It's not coming from Amazon Prime. I have 4 of the one I posted and they are excellent cords, and I have tried many. Heavy duty construction with a snug fit. Data transfer works flawlessly and charges super fast. For 5.99, you can't beat it.
Just tried to order a couple from Amazon.com and it's another no Can do.
Here's a picture of an extra one I bought.

I use the Monoprice premium USB cable. They're cheap Chinese made, but they work well and fairly durable. Just buys a couple of them and you'll be set. The best part, they're cheap enough that when they do break, which none of mine have yet, you'll most likely not care and you'll already have a back up, assuming you bought more than one.
Personally, I keep charges and USB cables all over the place--car, backpack, work, home.
I just switched to a Nokia brand one. Came with the e52. Full 5-pin, never seen it below 1800 while testing.
Here it is on Amazon
I had a cable from Mediabridge (not the one in the link, an older model), it was nice and snug, than became loose, than melted (seriously)...
If you want to charge to 1800 mA, you need a cable that is short or thick. Most cables I tried that weren't $1 on eBay were OK.
