New charger won't charge while powered up or awake - Nook Color General

Sent from my NookColor using xda premium

Hello everyone, I bought a new B&N charger today, and when I plug it in the light turns green but never to orange to began charging. If I power it off it will charge, and when it goes to sleep. If I try to wake it up or turn it on, its back to green with no charge. I'm guessing I got a bad charger, just hoping there's nothing wrong with the nook. (Warranty ran up 2 days ago)lol. If anyone has ran into this before or has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Sometimes mine won't charge until I reboot with the charger plugged in.
Don't know why, and it's pretty rare.

Nook won't charge!

I'm on cm7 nightly 41 and my nook won't charge it says battery too low wait 15 minutes and try again. Left plugged in all night and still dead. Is there anything I can do. Maybe get back to stock so I can bring back to Barnes and Noble? But computer won't recognize because it won't turn on. Any suggestions?

is the charge light on the cord green or orange?
try holding in the power button for 20 secs
Orange? I got it to turn on, try charge all night again.

if your battery is low, you should use the stock charger (which lights up red/orange/yellow/green) and use the wall adapter, not your pc. i think this gives it the needed power boost to charge it past that 15% threshold.
Bad charge cord. What junk only 2 months old.

Nexus 7 charging

Hi I have recently discovered that my nexus will no longer charge when its turned off, it always boots itself and the only way I can charge it is when its idle. Is this normal or have any of you experienced this problem? Any help would be appreciated thank you

The same is happening with my n7 too..the best thing to do is never let it go below 10% and always charge when its on or idle...

Not normal.
Are you running a custom rom or kernel?
Are you using the original cable and charger, or a 3rd party cable/charger?
It took me a while to get my 7 back up the last time it died. I ended up having to just leave it for a while and let it boot back up and die, then holding down the power button until it tried again and died. Then try plugging it into the wall and make sure you don't press any buttons. Leave it for a few hours then it was finally able to boot up but it only had like 4% even at that point. One thing to note is don't try to plug it into a computer as it will try to boot if you do.

I'm running stock 4.2.1 jelly bean and using the original charger supplied with this tablet.

Instant Battery Charge Glitch

I plugged in my phone for 20 seconds and I went to check for email notifications and to my amazement it's fully charged.
This is now another possibility in battery issues. I know I'm using a faulty device (that's why I ordered a RMA) but this is kinda odd so I thought I'd share it with you guys.
Let's hope this instant charge sticks lol. I went from 7% to 100% in 20 seconds.

Had that also one or two times. If you leave it plugged in it goes back to the correct percentage after some minutes.
Likewise a minor software glitch that will get fixed soon, nothing to worry.

Your phone is just that awesome... I wish my phone was that cool

Good for example you need to go somewhere and you forget to charge it. Just plug it in for 20 sec and bam it's fully charged and problem solved.

This happens when you plug in the phone and the wall charger has no voltage, e.g. because you use a switch that is off. If you switch it on, the glitch occurs and the phone is instantly charged. Of course that's not really the case, though. Rebooting solves this most of the time.

The Galaxy Nexus had none of these issues. I just hope that Google fixes this soon.

this is a non-issue as it is charging fine when left. no disadvantages except when you really believe it is fully charged in a second.

Nope. It doesn't let me continue to charge until I restart the phone (for me at least).
My phone did this last night. I noticed it right away, so I just unplugged the cable and plugged it back in and bam it went back to charging its merry little heart out

I am also experiencing this issue with a Nexus 4 (few weeks old) running Andriod 4.2.2.
Anyone know if this issue is fixed in upcoming release?
Just happened on my Nexus with Nokia 1.2mAh charger and latest CM10.1 nightly, reboot solved it though

I think this is correct. I've had this happen 3 times in 6 months and it's only happened when I plug the phone into the charger right after plugging the charger into the wall.
I've since tried to leave the charger plugged in about 10-20 seconds before attaching the phone and it hasn't happened since (~3 months)

Thanks, will try this approach.
i hope someday "20sec charging" will be a feature for every smartphone
Happened to me one night but when i unplugged my phone in the morning, it went down to 40% :/ so evidently it didnt continue charging after glitching. Battery usage pane confirmed this.

I usually charge my phone during nights.. Sometimes on the morning my battery is down to 80%, it stopped charging at 100% and I assume didn't charge any longer and the phone was draining the battery, has anyone else the same problem?

[Q] HELP!!! Kindle Fire HD not turning on

It isn't rooted. It's in a case. After a day of work, Tried putting it on, Logo comes up, Then comes off. It's the 7". Tried the Hard Reset and it doesnt seem to help. I put it to charge until I find another solution. What should I do? The logo only come sup when I plug it in to charge.
Sounds like you have a dead battery. Let it charge for a few hours before turning it on.

Woke up this morning after having it charging on the Kindle wall charger and nothing. So I switched the usb cord thinking that might be the issue cause it's always wrapped up to another. The logo came up, Cut off, Came up again, and now it's off. Not sure if it's doing a really long reset cause there are tons of stuff on it, Or if it still charging. We'll see.
There have been numerous reports of bad charging ports on the kfhd's. I would call Amazon and complain. They have been very generous in the past with replacing faulty devices.

UPDATE...
I literally gave it a love tap behind it and it turned on. Will back it up and get a replacement from Amazon. Thanks for the assistance.

Weird battery drain?

I put my phone on the charger last night at 1%, went to sleep. Woke up this morning and it was off. Turned it on while it was still on the charger and it was at 6% Notice on the far right of the screenshot it got fully charged then died on charger.

Also sometimes my phone likes to turn off by itself. Have to hold down volume down+power then let go of volume for it to come on.

Check for corrosion and gunk in your charging port and connector. If none found try a different charger. The picture you submitted shows a quite odd report. Also could try wiping battery stats... but I think you might need an unlocked phone for that.

I have a similar problem. It just started recently. I had 19% and then I dropped to 1%. I charged it and had to reboot my phone for something when it was 14% and when it turned back on, it was at 3%.

Has anyone tried another charger that has higher amp output, I use iPhone @ 1.5 amp charger and works great, also AHD phones need minimum .750 amp chager.
Has anyone tried also to re-calibrate battery?

I have. I had this issue just once, but after that, my battery life its been worse. I feel like I have a 20% of unused battery or something. I have calibrated it multiple times with no luck.
