Red version exist or not?? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I heard different things from site to site..is there any official red version of phone..in internet there is only the front cover....also if exist do you know if it is a special version only for us as I am living in Europe
Sent From my Droid DNA using xda-developers app

I've seen it up for order and in statements for the international market. It seems as if the USA market is only going to be seeing the black and silver versions though.
Here's one example: http://negrielectronics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=HTCONE+801E#.UTTqcqLviSo
And more information: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one-5313.php
It may just be that they're delaying production of it in favor of the black and silver versions, but I only know what I've seen.

It may be the 64Gb version, who knows??

Here's what I've heard: when the HTC One's website was turned on, there were three colors (red, black, and silver) despite the fact that HTC only showed off Black and Silver at their event, and never even mentioned the red. Within some time (minutes? no idea) the red color disappeared. Some site asked HTC whether it existed, and some rep said that it was a site error. The thing is though, even if it was a mistake, there had to be a reason for a Red one to even exist--many think it may be exclusive to some carrier like the red GSIII was to ATT in the US or would just be introduced later, again like the black GSIII.

What I think is maybe the red one is prone to chipping lor something else. Dunno but if we're talking about anodization process red should be the most less durable color. Look at the rainbow red is 1st color so in short in order to achieve that color manufacturers must prematurely finish the anodization process. In anodization base the color of the metal on the rainbow. Red being the softest and violet/black/white being the hardest.

The only time I ever see a red device or a device with red accents, is because its also dropping for Verizon. I wonder if there were plans of Verizon also getting the One but some thing happened at the end. Oh well, I'm just glad tmo stepped up this time.

In my opinion, it will be released later as a special (or maybe limited) edition

Ahh .. sorry coupetasic-droid .. I missed your post
Maybe its the 64Gb Verizon version planned for next year once they've sold up the Droid DNA

Black vs white.

I was showing off my phone at work a week ago, then all of a sudden they are looking at replacing blackberrys with the HTC dreams. Woo, go android!.
Some of the people are looking for black dreams instead of the white ones. Someone said that they heard that the blacks were slower than the white ones. I haven't seen or heard anything that verifies that. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

They are all the same no matter what color they are.
the white ones are just hard to see the keys when they light up
They should be fired. racists
I must agree, the white g1 keyboard is hard to see lit up in poor light. I went with a black one for that reason, I never had issues seeing the keyboard (except that short time I disabled the keyboard backlight).
Thanks all. I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure.
I really appreciate the knowledge shared around here.

LG Service Center complaints

I bought my N4 on 22-3-13.
it is a great device and i tried calibrating the screen before sending it in.
i had a REV11 unit.
anyway my problem was that i was having really yellowish tint on all screen but specially from left lower corner.
but the most annoying were the huge black spots especially on the upper side-center of the screen.
ok i did not worry cause some told me that that was just glue waiting to dry (well that is just BS).
the spots became larger and easier to spot when phone was getting hot( normal hot) and my eys were getting tired by that ( i guess because knowing where it is was making me concentate on that).
so i sent it to LG service here in Greece-Athens explaining the problem and along with the phone i sent a comparison pictire with another N4 of a friend.
their response toward me was " We see nothing. it is perfect. we are sending it back to you"!
lol. i asked them to keep it and contacted the customer protection agency.
2 days later LG calls me and says they are exchanging my motherboard. i asked them why, 2 days earlier you found nothing?
the responded it was the fault for the bad screen.
so they sent it back and guess what, the problem is still there and they sent a REV10 which i δon't minδ that but the previous board was flawless.
so now i am very pissed and will send it back on monday but to conclude, how dumb do you have to be not to exchange the screen and instead chang the MB when it is clearly the fault of that?
P.S: which one you think looks better?
The left one for sure is better

that is my point. they said it is the same. everyone i have asked say the same.
also a third one looks just like the left one. great
Personally, I don't see a problem with either. There will always be minor variations with screens.
If you want to be really picky about things, the left one that's "better" has a blueish hue on the top 1/3rd of the screen. I'd rather take the right one, but that's the point it's all subjective.
It looks like gamma variation. IMO the right one looks better. It looks like it has deeper blacks.

Are the brightness levels the same on both of the phones in that picture?
I know there are screen variances with this phone, though many don't believe. My coworkers Nexus 4 scree has washed out colors, whites aren't white, and just plain doesn't look as good as all of the others I've seen.
Some reviews you see on the web talk about the screen of the N4 seeming washed out. My phone isn't washed out in the slightest bit.

it's not even close.. the one on the left looks great, the one on the right looks like sh*t
You'd have to be blind not to admit that.
I just replicated the exact same thing with my friend's N4.
1) Gamma/Saturation can make it look exactly how yours do.
2) Brightness, I've got one set low and one set high and they do the same as what yours do...
I like the one on the right

Personally seeing issues like this makes me understand why companies lock bootloaders, and try to chase away modders like most on XDA. We are the most pickiest of all cell phone uses. We create problems that don't really exist and brick more phones than anybody else.
Having two phones with two different color tint is perfectly normal it happens all the time with big screen TVs. A manufactured doesn't always use the same supplier to supply a LCD screen Hance the different color tint.
Just get on with your life enjoy the phone and stop looking at a white screen

I was in the cell phone industry for over 10 years and this is a normal variation. Literally it happens all the time you probably might not have noticed if you had not had two phones next to each other. If you had brought that back to my store we would have told you it was normal. If phone manufacturers replaced phones for minor variations they would not be. If you don't like it sell it.

Yellow tint goes away after one week of using the device. Or root it and put your own screen values.

If they did that successfully, your phone would suck bro. The "modders"as you so elegantly put it are the reason things improve. Don't believe me? Look at how many 3rd apps turned into features that Android uses now as part of their OS. Linux is beautiful because of open source and sharing ideas. Go buy an iPhone and "get on with your life". It's consumers like you that allow mfgs to cram crap down your throat

Nothing against "modders" as I'm one myself. And I do appreciate the work that some have done on certain devices. But I mostly talking about the nitpicking, OCD'ing flashaholic that return devices after devices for minor imperfections like a squeaking volume rocker or yellowish tint, I can name a million more things but lets leave it at that.

yellow tint to screen compared to ATT version?

I was one of the impatient people that tried to cancel their order for the developer edition (sent an email) and ran out on Friday morning and bought the ATT version. The next I noticed that orders were being shipped (mine being one of them). Long story short, I rented the ATT one for the $35 restocking fee for the weekend and now have my dev. edition in my hands.
I noticed one person mention a yellow tint to thier screen, and when I compared my phone to the ATT, sure enough it was very apparent. I have heard and come up with a few reasons why looking around online. I want to get your thoughts on what is causing this, if it will go away and if you can see it in yours. With that said I compared to my wife's S3 and it is still a load better than her screen in every way.
1. The phone was just recently built and the glue is still drying - not sure if I buy that one but it is a theory
2. Defective screens - could be, but I would think that would be easy to spot in any quality control process... no dead pixels that I can see (or stuck) but a uniform yellow tint across the entire screen
3. Could it be the ATT software tweaks that make thier's whiter? I almost feels like the "temperature" of the screen has just shifted toward a yellow / warm. Could this be the default screen settings and ATT actually did something GOOD to the phone rather than just installing apps, etc. Do they even have this ability?
Either way - I am going to keep the developer phone. If it is glue it will dry, if it is defective I will wait for stock to build up and exchange with LetsTalk, and if it is something ATT did, I will wait for a custom ROM to allow me to configure the settings.
Curious to everyone else's thoughts... and if they notice the same thing (or are able to compare to T-Mobile, etc)

Well I'm not owning a HTC phone, but I had a yellow tint issue with my Xperia S(it happened to the fresh new ones, just after it was launched, some said the same thing you said at 1. (glue still drying), but the effects are still visible now, and the phone is 1 year old already. So, it may be something similar here. I am sorry for not being able to confirm as I don't have the phone, but I'm giving some info...

The Dev edition is Warmer while the ATT is cooler. I can clearly see the difference. I'll have to compare the dev edition when it arrives tom to the T-mobile version.
I have an AT&T version and a 32GB unlocked and the color temperature of the 32GB unlocked is definitely a little warmer. I don't have any professional instruments so I can't measure the white point and tell you whether the AT&T version is too cold or the unlocked version is too warm, but honestly, if I didn't put them side by side, I don't think I would have noticed.
As to the cause, it could be simple device to device variance. Maybe some AT&T versions have a warmer color temperature as well. Or maybe the AT&T is using a panel from a different manufacturer. Or it could be the firmware. The AT&T version is running 1.26 and the unlocked version is on 1.29 with a slightly newer kernel. Maybe the warmer temperature is part of the newer software and the AT&T version will be that way too when it gets the update. Who knows.
I got the 32 gb unlocked today and it looks cooler like the att version in the pictures
There was a thread posted before talking about how the htc one may have different screen manufacturer's. So some may have a Samsung screen, other sharp etc etc.

[UPDATED] Got my Verizon LG G2 and Window case. Pics attached

So Ive been calling around since I've heard that most store might not have the device on the 12th, but sure enough the Verizon corp store by me in South Florida got theirs TONIGHT! I drove straight there and got to power on their demo device for the first time and play around with it. After begging the manager for about 10 mins he told me he could not sell it until the 12th, he would hold one for me either . So I guess I'll have to show up Thursday Morning to pick one up. They said they had more than 5 so I hoping that number is closer to 10.
The Phone itself was amazing. Felt solid in hand and the smaller metallic buttons on the back were easy to reach and were clickie enough. The screen was a little larger then the s4 and the overall size was not much larger then the s4 (my ex-phone ). Camera app was super responsive and general speed of the phone was amazing.
Cant wait! :victory:
UPDATE: Posted Pics with Case!
You have just pissed people off for not taking pictures, checking storage, detailing the differences from other g2's and many other things. Expect to be pressured to go back by tomorrow morning

Considering no one has seen a US version or the back of the Verizon version in real life, I have a couple questions. Could you go into a little more detail about the button differences on the back vs the international version? Do you think it looks better or worse? Was the version you saw white or black? What about texture and feel - glossy like the GS4? A picture would be great!
I've had mine (AT&T) since yesterday, and its pretty freaking sweet! The more I use it, the better I like the buttons on the back.
Sent from my LG G2
I didnt even think to take pics :silly: since the store was closing and they wanted me out. But storage I can Confirm it was a 32GB Model in black.
The plastic back felt more solid then the s4's plastic back. It was glossy, not super slippery. From what I've seen in pics of the international version, the back button are differently smaller and metallic feeling but it provides more room for wireless charger pads.

I'll try to go back tomorrow and take pics.
I guess I should have said "reviewed a US version"
Thanks for the additional information!
I got a chance to play with it too.. Loved the feel in the hand, and it is very fast. One down side is there is only a little of 23GB of available memory.
Most stores probably got theirs in drop shipments today or tomorrow.Seems like a lot of phones and tablets or delivered at the last minute.I am going to call the closest corp store tomorrow to see if they got theirs. All attention will be on the anticipation of the new iphone preorder and launch. The G2 and the Note 3 will get put on the back burner.
I have to give it to Apple though, to be able to launch a phone and have it out to all carriers in 10 days is something I don't think any of the Android manufactures will ever achieve. To much fighting over exclusives and who gets to launch it first,
Did you notice anything else that looked different from the model that the other carriers are getting?
Did they have any in white?

Im gonna assume u meant the Verizon model, because a few of us have had the phone since yesterday morning on ATT...hell I even have a case on mine and its Sim Unlocked.
Do you mean in Tampa near USF or south Florida near Miami? What store was this?
I just spoke with a verizon rep and he told me that it would be launching everywhere on the 12th.. I also called my local verizon store and their response was "I don't even know what that is" when I asked "Will you have the LG G2 available for in store purchase tomorrow?" lol. Gotta love verizon.
Anyway.... if the verizon rep was right (sometimes not the case), we should be getting it everywhere in store tomorrow

I already bought my VZN one on Tuesday.
They let me look at it hold it and buy it but I can't turn it on, activate it or take it home until 10 am Thursday when they open. Yes it looks good, feels good, smaller metal buttons, and a honeycomb looking back but it is slick and polycarbonate. I plan to get a quick case so it doesn't matter if it is a finger print attractive material or not.

Verizon has a blue model, but Best Buy is selling a different shade of blue called "Metallic Blue" for Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T.
So long as the best buy version for sprint is blue with the black trim, pretty sure that's gonna be what I get. If it's the white trim, I'm just gonna stick with the black.

I went to the HTC website. It looked as though they were advertising the exclusivity of colors as a good thing (BB- Metallic blue, Sprint red, Verizon blueish).

That's what I was thinking, especially seeing it on their website, but you never know. First time I saw it I thought "gee, that's lame. That black is so much cooler looking." Then I kept seeing it and it grew on me. Apple must have been channeling me, because when I saw it my first thought was to somehow get a color matched background for it. Then they released a whole line of phones based on that idea.

I don't think HTC can gamble with not doing something like this. Just because Samsung does it, doesn't mean HTC can't. You'd be surprised how many people choose a phone based on the color of its shell. More options means better chances of finding someone to want it. And to be quite honest, HTC's phone colors are MUCH better than what Samsung has brought to the table.

Very good point. I think this is a great way for any device manufacturer to breed new life into their devices and keep a sustaining profit. Just look at the new iPhones obviously there is some sense of reasoning behind all this marketing.
As for the cost factor it's a no brainer obviously all the hardware is still there platform OS everything all they have to do is coloring.

You make it sound like we have a problem with the variety of colors. I don't.
What I'm absolutely livid about is that I have buyer's remorse over a phone that is CURRENTLY a flagship, and that, if only I had waited longer, I could have gotten a different color.
Staggering the releases of colors (there's been a gold One spotted) and making certain colors carrier exclusive comes exclusively at the cost of the customer. If I can afford the damn phone, I don't want to still have to make sacrifices like not getting the color I want at the time I want or with the carrier I like.
It's redonkulous.

There are ways around that. Like looking for someone to trade, or selling your phone for whatever it's going for on Craigslist and taking that money and buying another one that might be available from a private seller. But they don't release them all at once like that because they need something to continue the steady sales. If they release all the colors at once, they won't continue to get buyers 3 months after its release.

I would look at it differently. The one has been out for a while now and they are late to the game. So why not let them have incentive to purchase a premium device that you helped pioneer by being on the bleeding edge. Colors are great but if it matters enough there are many ways around getting into that newest phone. However intoxicated I may become with the miasma of spectrum I still prefer the been here since day one, (Silver) One.
Lol next gimmick will be just that, (preorders) will get a special color.

This will probably be pretty popular. As it stands in the iPhone the most popular colored so far is yellow so I'm thinking the mass majority of consumers appreciate yellow hues. Personally I'd like to see contrast or custom collection like blue/orange, purple/yellow, red/green and maybe Oreo.
